Are you letting a single negative comment dampen your enthusiasm and affect your energy? Let's put a halt to that right now! In this solo episode, I take you through my personal journey of dealing with criticism. We all get them - those comments that can sting or even deflate us, especially when it comes to our passion projects like podcasting. However, remember that your work is bigger than one negative review. I share my experience in dealing with such scenarios and how essential it is not to let it define your journey but to use it as a tool to grow and improve.
Let's not forget the power of social media and the effect it can have on our mental health. Comparing ourselves with others, constantly, can be overwhelming and may lead to feelings of inadequacy or imposter syndrome. And here's my two cents on it - it's perfectly fine to hit that unfollow button, to take a break, to protect your mental health. As we navigate through the world of likes and comments, remember to keep your focus on what is working for you. It's crucial to stay on your path and avoid falling into traps. So, buckle up for an honest, thought-provoking discussion on dealing with negativity, staying true to oneself, and taming your social media experience.

How do you market your physical therapy practice? How do you communicate with potential and existing clients? Have you ever heard of relationship marketing?
Acquiring a new client is 5 to 25 times more expensive than keeping those you already have. A PT practice (and any business in general) that consistently shoots for new clients as their primary sales objective, will inevitably fall short with modern clients. The less you prioritize people, the less they will buy from you. Relationship marketing is founded on the premise that authenticity and honesty is what sells.

Having the ideal work-life balance feels unattainable for many busy physical therapy business owners. With PT burnout on the rise, it’s important to reflect and ask yourself, “Am I getting what I want from my career and personal life?” And while striving for perfection is an exercise in futility, PT business owners can make incremental moves in their daily routine to create separation between business and personal life. So, what works best for PTs trying to find balance?
On today’s episode of Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Sarah Krieger, a fitness and nutrition business owner, will share the most effective ways to shake things up and boost your quality of life as a PT and practice owner. Sarah is a mother of three and owns Consistency Over Perfection, a fitness and nutrition business. She’s also the host of the Don’t Call Me Skinny Podcast where she talks about fitness, nutrition, mindset, mamahood, and all the things in between. Her insights will definitely be very useful in helping you not only achieve some work-life balance but also grow your PT business to great heights.
They will touch on such topics as:
Hack: In your personal and business life, shift your mindset from ”I can’t do this or I can’t do that…” to “I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m making steps to get to that place” You have to be your biggest cheerleader.

PTs and health and fitness coaches in general, let's talk straight. Successful branding doesn’t happen by accident. As a practice owner, your goal is to create strong messaging that makes potential clients feel a certain (positive!) way about you, and the best way to achieve that is with a thought-out branding strategy. Branding is a critical component in marketing your business. It shapes your audience’s perceptions of who you are as a PT or coach. An effective and memorable brand is one where your target audience perceives your business exactly how you wish it to be perceived.
That takes intentionality, strategy and honoring your signature strengths and brilliance as a PT or coach. When executed masterfully, your brand will resonate on an emotional level with your target audience, so much so that they are drawn to you and your offerings and become advocates for your brand.
On today’s episode of Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Emily Carlson shares her wisdom on how being authentic in your branding and messaging is the only way to go if you are to build trust and loyalty. She highlights that your branding strategy has to be audience-oriented in order to speak powerfully to your dream clients.
Emily used to be a fitness and nutrition coach and realized there was a gap for many coaches in the connection with their community and audiences. There was so much focus on what others were doing and not enough introspection and genuine authentic delivery from each individual's core values. And that’s what inspired her to start helping coaches create their brands around the attractive characters within their businesses to improve brand awareness and eliminate the stress around content creation and even make it fun. It’s going to be a value-packed episode as she shares exactly how you can go about that so don’t miss out.
Emily will touch on such topics as:
Hack: Be more human, show up as a human and be more authentic in your branding and messaging. Don’t say something because you think that’s what your target market wants to hear.

Physical therapy is challenging, especially if you’re the one running the show. The essential skills that a busy PT private practice owner must have to survive in the industry aren’t often highlighted with any certainty. At times, running a clinic feels like juggling on a unicycle through a ring of fire. And even seasoned practice owners are looking for ways to make their work-life more favorable. The busier we get, the more we leave in our wake. Organization and management, even for the busiest physical therapist, are essential engines for business longevity.
The good news is, our guest today on Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Frank Benedetto, will share some strategies you can implement that won't slow you down one bit. Frank helps clinicians launch mission-driven businesses but what’s most unique about him is that he’s actually a clinician first. He’s got the alphabet soup that shows his dedication to the craft of healthcare (PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, CSCS, etc) and he’s walked the walk by building and selling a multi-million dollar direct-to-consumer practice with 5 locations in under 5 years from 2015 to 2019.
His mission is to revolutionize healthcare by inspiring tens of thousands of clinicians to launch niche-based, direct-to-consumer businesses (brick and mortar, digital, and hybrid) outside the traditional medical system. Frank’s driven by a series of life-changing events, including watching his dad die of a heart attack at age 64, that he feels would never have happened if the medical system was reimagined. He will teach us how we can launch a Mission-Driven business to change our lives and the world in the process. The strategies he will share will help you improve overall productivity for yourself, your staff, and most importantly, your patients.
Frank will touch on such topics as:
Hack: Proper organization and management anchored on time management through life design is key to building a PT business that will grow and thrive without destroying your health and relationships.

If you could go back, would you change if you could?

In this week’s episode, I will be joined by Dr. Angela Mulrooney. Angela is a retired dentist turned personal branding expert. She had built a referral-based, niche dental practice that allowed her to do the dentistry she loved on clients she loved while earning more and working less. She lost everything after sustaining a career-ending injury that killed my ability to drill. She was sent spiraling, unsure of what the future held. She had two options: She could keep my practice even though I would never be able to drill again, or she could sell my practice and find a new path. She chose option b. She took to LinkedIn and started speaking about niching and branding in training. She went from two hundred to twelve thousand industry followers in a year. Her rise on LinkedIn drew attention from other professionals, and I started being asked to coach professionals in disparate industries on creating personal brands on LinkedIn. She was hired to speak at conferences internationally, be a guest on podcasts, and share my knowledge. She has helped thousands of people leverage the power of personal branding so they could: Transform their credibility, Craft their limelight and Attract their ideal clients.
In this episode, we talked about What you can learn when you lose everything. How to become a different and better leader. The most significant gift to give to yourself is burning down what was working for your business. The more you niche your skills, the easier you are to understand your audience. How to build a network to grow your business on LinkedIn. The Podcast allows people to bring more color out of the people interviewing and will enable the guest to share a deeper level of conversation. Helping people to get out of their way - so people who need them can find them.

F Scott Feil is a loving husband, a father of two, a food, music, and sports fan, a physical therapist, primary prevention, a lifelong learner, but also an educator.
