“Seishin” is a focused, four-track EP from Fukushima-born, Berlin-based producer Shingo Suwa on Acid Camp. The title translates to “spirit,” and the record treats that idea as both a feeling and a relay: an original transmission from a time of quarantined isolation followed by responses from trusted collaborators. Clay Wilson contributes two versions: one a deep, tensile workout and the other a companion take sparked by the legacy of Jasen Loveland (1980–2021). Jasen Loveland also worked on a remix of his own in 2021. “Seishin” is not only about losing yourself—it is also about the resonance of spirit and memory, passed across friends, to find yourself again.“Seishin” arrives as a 12” EP in an edition of 100 on white/clear marble and 200 on black vinyl. This is the first solo release by drummer and producer Jason Ganberg of the duo, Deep Dark Blue. Recorded and produced in Yucca Valley and Los Angeles California between 2022-2024.After a lot of transition and change I wanted to write and create some music that encapsulated and wrapped up a certain time in my life. Some of these tracks started with me recording grooves in my practice space on my phone, and some from field recordings taken from trips in Mexico and Colombia. I didn’t want to set myself any boundaries stylistically so I let myself write in a free flowing way without judgement, tinkering with synth lines, bass parts, samples and grooves until things clicked for me. I’ve had my ups-and-downs in my DJ career, but lately I started getting booked for bigger gigs. The people I was opening for — HorsegiirL, VTSS, DJ Assault — were traveling into town and playing CDJs, so I really had focus on building my digital collection. It’s better for my back to show up with a thumb drive in my pocket. But vinyl just hits different. I love the glacial pace of taking the time to go through all my records, trying to find that perfect sequence (this one ended up being a bunch of dubby 303-drenched hypnotic mushroom techno). And then, in the moment, when it all falls apart, you have to let go and embrace the chaos. Back when radio ruled and the boombox gave us mixtapes, live broadcasts were the very essence of the Detroit club-music scene. Technology was turning cassettes into CDs and Rebecca’s frequent trips to Harmony House fueled her music collection. She pored over the cherished tunes that were spun on Saturday nights at the State Theatre, Detroit’s legendary “Club X”. First inspired by Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, the Godmother of House Music, who was reigning over the airwaves, it was only a matter of time before Rebecca would satiate her musical appetite as a disc jockey.

Rebecca is a seasoned radio DJ having mixed for FM and internet-radio shows hosted across the globe. She hosts her own monthly program “D-SCOVERY” on London’s Aaja Radio highlighting contemporary techno and house from Detroit. She tours internationally as a DJ and live performer and has been featured at notable events from Movement Electronic Music Festival to Tresor in Berlin.

Goldberg has self-released music and multimedia projects, and since her debut vinyl release, 313 Acid Queen, she has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary arts collective Detroit Underground. She has written original scores for classic films Le Voyage Dans La Lune and Gojira, including live performances at David Lynch’s members-only club, Silencio, in Paris and Armageddon Beachparty in Detroit, respectively. Her latest release, BUILDINGS, is a collaboration with Italian artist and labelmate, SickBoy, and is set to be released in Spring 2021 via Detroit Underground.

Originally, this 3 part series was meant to come out June 1st, but in light of the murder of George Floyd and the collective righteous anger in pursuit of justice and an end to the cancer that is policing, all of us involved felt it was necessary to put it aside.

Taking a step back, being thoughtful about your actions, and critically analyzing what you are doing - and why - is really important to us. To be clear: Black erasure in dance music is horribly real and requires deep examination and decisive action. In relation to the wider world, we believe that the emancipation of Black people is the crest of a revolutionary wave for a better world. Without humanity restoring the personhood that Black people have been stripped of and denied, we will never build a better world.

Personally, as “artists” we struggle with the rabidly individualistic self-promotion culture that is deeply entrenched in the dance music “scene”. Production fetishization, Rise-&-Grind culture, and Techno as a shallow signifier to be worn by white colonizers are all part of the same issues. Anti-capitalism without intersectionality is class reductionist and intersectionality without anti-capitalism is (neo)liberal defanged identity politics. Both of these are tools of oppression too, so let’s miscegenate our political ideologies. You cannot fight capitalism with “woke” capitalism. Shifting the balance and power of capital is important - for now - but it is only just that: morphing the shape and color of a gruesome and irredeemable system. Much like the police, the system and industry that brought you “woke” capitalism cannot be redeemed or reformed.

But constant suffering is also not the answer. Nor is remaining silent. The failure of the Boomer “New Left” was olive-drab-sour-dour-no-fun-misery-politics. The newer never-ending circular firing squad and permanent state of self-criticism do not lead to full emancipation, either. We are looking for a movement, a culture, a community, a heaving mass. Of accomplices. Armed With Joy. So, after 6 weeks of putting it off, we decided to try to share a little joy, but also to make sure we added a spoonful of medicine to help the sugar go down.

Black Lives Matter. All Cops Are Bastards. Fuck the police, no more prisons. Eliminate the carceral state. We are all racist, and we must all listen, learn, struggle and strive to be better. So, see you in the streets. Be safe, take care of each other, watch your backs, never talk to the police and please don't give your heart to a world system based on exploitation of the luckless, give your heart to US!

Berlin. On May 8th, social distancing rules in the capital loosened, and so Miguel and a few friends met for the first time in months for dinner and some Twitch troubleshooting.

That session turned into an 11 hour mix session, a portion of which was live-streamed on Twitch and hosted by Tim Sweeney's Beats in Space channel featuring EVA, Jasen Loveland, and Miguel.

This mix was captured after they shut off the stream, had some breakfast, and decided to ride months of pent up energy and a lengthy warmup behind them into the afternoon sun. The result is a fresh and wild mix of new favorites and old, played impatiently, without channel level EQ, and at times too fast.

Miguel has made his mark in dance music as a supporter and contributor through his time at Ghostly International as well as behind the decks — we hope you enjoy the mix that fueled a mischievous, socially awkward, tiny dance party.

Lemonfacer is the pseudonym of Jacob Gronberg, a DJ and electronic music producer from California. Growing up in the suburbs of Orange County he and his friends would spend most of their time recording music and sharing homemade mixes with each other. Between them they had a small collection of instruments and cheap production equipment that they used to make home recordings of jams and experimentations. For a time they had an online record label to house these recordings which spanned different styles of folk, punk, ambient, noise, and other genres. Eventually the group split but Lemonfacer continued to pursue music as a solo act and DJ.

After some exposure to underground dance clubs, Lemonfacer eventually shifted focus to house, techno and other more club-friendly genres. Since relocating to Taipei he has self released collections of demos originally composed for live sets at various music festivals and clubs in Taiwan.

In her day-to-day, she is a medical researcher and poet, curious to draw a thread through seemingly disparate disciplines.

Her Acid Camp mix is influenced by the texture and energy contrast which has been the basis much of her recent work on and off the dance floor: that of the soft/tender versus the sharp/harsh. It features broken beats which have lifted her up in unexpected moments at the rave, and euphoric atmospheres which have rounded out the edges. The femme artists she has had the pleasure of seeing perform and work with over the last year have been a huge source of influence for this mix.

Sisters Of Sound will release their first compilation in Spring 2020; a new mixtape series showcasing new tracks from some of the most groundbreaking international female and female identifying talent. The place, Sound Community DUB, quickly became renowned for its high sound quality, and this marked the starting point of Nob's DJ career. John Bryars passion for music started at an early age with piano and soon after started playing drums. The Tenderlions released several EP’s as well as singles and remixes through various labels such as Om Records. The live electronic duo had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of The Prodigy James Murphey, and Simian Mobile Disco as well as playing reputable venues like The Warfield, Mezzanine, and Shoreline Amphitheater as well as various festivals.

John is currently based in Los Angeles and is recognized for his broad tastes and eclectic style. He has played Legendary Los Angeles parties such as A Club Called Rhonda, Lights Down Low, Midnight Lovers and Future Primitive. He has DJed alongside Solar, Lina willikens, Marie Davidson, Octa Octa, Interstellar Funk, Honey Soundsystem, Gerd Janson, Honey Dijon, Maya Jane Coles and many others. Over the past 6 years Eoin DJ has slowly but surely become a regular fixture in Irish nightlife, holding down club residencies at Electric and Izakaya and hosting a monthly show on Dublin Digital Radio. Eoin is also a familiar face on the Irish festival circuit, and has been booked to play further afield in clubs like Loftus Hall in Berlin.

As booker, promoter and DJ at numerous parties in both Galway and Dublin, the West coast native has honed a sound that takes in the entire spectrum of house and techno music, opting for records with a sense of timelessness that are underscored by flashes of colour and feeling to create transcendental dancefloor moments.

Uchu's charisma and enthusiasm have brought a new life into the dance music scene in Japan through his event series Panorama, an intimate dance party featuring local and international artists. Gem and Atsuko Satori, are a unit of two female DJs called PALM BABYS from Tokyo's underground music scene since the summer of 2015. Gem combines a groovy mix between house and disco. Atsuko combines a funky sound of deep house and techno. Their original sound has no genre, and their love for vinyl keeps them rocking the floors of Tokyo. PBS debut their America tour in California, where they played in LA at Dublub Radio, pool parties in Hollywood, and made club appearances around town. In San Fransisco, the duo performed at a party called "Night Life" at the California Science of Academy San Fransisco. They have continued to play since being back in Tokyo at NTS Radio and the Red Bull Studio where they will progress and pursue music and DJing. PBS will keep evolving within the Tokyo DJ scene and internationally.

Mayudepth is a solo project by Mayu Kondo who is based in Japan. From the time she was in school, she began collecting records in Tokyo and New York where she was staying and started her career as a DJ. In 2012 the official mixed album “Electronik Beat Punk” was released as Punkadelix. Starting production of music in the name of a new project "Mayudepth" in 2016, released two remix works for the label "Shiki Kyokai" presided over by DJ Shufflemaster who is an innovator of Japan's techno sound. In January 2018, brand-new EP entitled "Sneakpeek" as Mayudepth. It has been supported by many artists, including Ben Sims and Robert Dietz. She continues to explore electronic music without being caught in time or scenes, always with an open attitude.

After spending most of his life in the Midwest, Ryan Scannura moved to Denver, Colorado where he created the ongoing party, Deep Club. The underground party aimed to highlight some of the finest American dance music talent while providing a safe space for people of all backgrounds and genders. In the last five years, Deep Club hosted artists like The Black Madonna, Mike Huckaby, Honey Soundsystem, D’Marc Cantu, Noncompliant, and many others, while simultaneously working hard to nurture its resident DJs and other local talent. The collective spawned a podcast series and a record label, which claims four 12-inch records. As Deep Club pushes into its fifth year, Ryan continues to dj in Colorado and elsewhere, and bring underrepresented artists to Denver.

This mix is part of Ryan’s closing set from a Deep Club party in December, 2017 that also featured Roger That, John Tyler, and Beaner.

This past summer we employed a caravan of trusted accomplices and traveled to a distant land. Acid Camp gives a warm welcome to Shingo Suwa. After making the long trek to Berlin from Tokyo he's found a comfortable home in the city's techno scene as a producer and dj. In 2008 he founded the label Merkur Schallplatten, which will release a new Suwa EP this year and will be followed up by his debut on Acid Camp Records. If you look at many things in nature, you will notice that they are fractal. They have various levels of detail. A common example is the outline of a mountain range. It contains large variations in height (the mountains), medium variations (hills), small variations (boulders), tiny variations (stones) . . . you could go on. Look at almost anything: the distribution of patchy grass on a field, waves in the sea, the movements of an ant, the movement of branches of a tree, patterns in marble, winds.
