On this week's episode Braydin returns to talk about dashboard reviews as well as things to think about when you are planning your next year of hunting as well as how to plan long term for harder to draw tags. We talk about creating a budget and the difficulties that each state can provide when you do so. The big game draw has become drastically more complicated to navigate even in the last 20 years, and it is important to understand how each state works, and which states are worth your time and money.
On this week's episode we are joined by the legendary Doctor Pat Stuart. Pat has had a phenomenal year of hunting so far and we haven't even hit the traditional hunting season! He has been to Texas, Hawaii, and Spain all in the last few months and he has come back with a whole host of stories for us. He talks about the places he went, the animals he hunted, and the moments that have made his year special already.
On this week's episode we are joined by long-time adventure advisor Brandon Armstrong. Brandon has been with Rolling Bones for over a decade, and in that time he has developed many relationships, and a wealth of knowledge. Brandon talks about his past and how he became so passionate about the outdoors. The guys swap stories and reminisce about the time they have spent together over the years.
On this week's episode we are joined by the manager of the Rolling Bones adventure department Ryan Kinnaman. Ryan tells us a little bit about himself as well as how he became involced with Rolling Bones Outdoors. He also delves into some of the opportunity hunts we still have available for 2026. He goes in depth of how he has fit into his roll with his conversations with outfitters as well as the vetting process and how he personally takes initiative to ensure we have the most up to date info possible.

The United States of America is two hundred and fifty years old and we are celebrating by going over the history of hunting in our country. Over the years we have seen processes and policies change drastically, as well as the public's attitude about hunting. We come from some of the toughest hunters and sportsmen ever, and we are proud to carry on the legacy.
On this week's episode Brian and Brad are making their game plan for the 2026 Hunting season. We have quite a few adventures planned this year, and the guys go over what they are doing differently this year. They go over rifles, gear, travel, and the animals they are going after. We are very excited for the upcoming hunting season and we are happy to have you along for the ride.

On this week's episode the guys talk about the RBO shooting schools. We are reaching the end of shooting school season and Brian and Brad reflect on the year and some of their favorite memories as well as new ideas for the future and what they are wanting to change for next year. Brian and Brad have personally attended dozens of shooting schools as shooters and have been running the RBO Shooting Schools for 11 years (if not 12) and Have developed the curriculum over that time and are always working to improve it. On this week's episode we follow up with Noah Mehmen after he goes on his black bear hunt. Noah had a blast on his hunt, and we had a blast hearing about it. Much to Brian's dismay Noah and Brad make every effort to derail this podcast, but ultimately we hear all about Noah's experience.
On this week's episode of Hunt the World we are joined by Noah Mehmen. Noah has been on a few out of country adventures in the past, but he is embarking on his first out of country adventure that he has booked and planned for all on his own. Noah has been asking Brian several questions regarding how he should pack, and how the ins and outs will function as far as traveling internationally, and we decided to sit down and share some of those questions and how to prepare mentally for your first international hunt.
On this week's episode we sit down with Jacob Johnson of the Victory Drive Podcast. Jacob and his wife run a mobile podcast set, and they talk to people around the country about guns, gun rights, hunting, and shooting sports. On this episode they talk about how Jacob got started podcasting, as well as his journey that lit his passions about all things guns, and of course a little bit about everything else.
On this week's episode of Hunt the World the guys are joined by Jeremy King. Jeremy King is a long-time advisor of Rolling Bones Outdoors and he is in the process of opening a franchise in Calhoun, Georgia. Brian and Brad talk to Jeremy about how he got into hunting to the degree that he does now, how he became involved with Rolling Bones Outdoors initially, and how his journey with us took place. They go over the state of Georgia, and how hunting culture has manifested there, and we are very excited to see what Jeremy builds.
On this week's episode we are joined by Braydin Eastman. Today the guys are talking about playing the Bighorn sheep game in the United States lower forty-eight. Bighorn sheep hunting is one of the most coveted and most difficult tags to draw, it's almost impossible to get a guaranteed sheep tag, so to have a chance you have to play the game, and hopefully we can shed some light on the best way to go about that.
On this week's episode of Hunt the World we are joined by adventure hub owner Tyler Staab. Tyler has been flourishing in Kearney Nebraska, the guys go over Tyler's processes for gear nights, as well as the value of having people in store that know what the gear is, what you need out of it, and what is important to look at when you are buying good gear.
On this week's episode Brian and Brad are joined by Whitetail aficionado Greg Glesinger. Greg shares with us his wildlife management tactics, and how he cultivates environments that regularly produce monster whitetail, regularly topping two hundred inches. Greg's methods extend into every facet of the ecosystem, the water, plant-life, fertilizing the ground, and anything else involved in his craft. They dig into Greg's backstory, when he started hunting whitetail, and what ultimately created this passion.
On this Week's Episode we are re-running one of our most beloved episodes on Brian's first ever archery bull elk. Fourteen days of hunting and a whole crew of friends at his back, this was a hunt that Brian has not and will never forget. Originally posted on September 29th of 2022, this episode stands out as one of Brian and Brad's favorite western hunting stories, and a great walk down memory lane.

Aaron talks about how the association came to be as well as the needs it serves in the hunting, outdoors and political spaces in British Columbia. Aaron talks about his passions for the topic, what made him want to contribute, as well as what changes he will push for in his new role.

Zach talks about the emotions he has surrounding winning guide of the year, as well as his journey to becoming the guide he is today. Before 2021 RBO Platinum member Chad Carpenter had never hunted big game. He grew up in Nebraska and hunted a little pheasant but nothing serious. But then, this father of six, was prodded by one of his boys to go deer hunting. He signed up with Rolling Bones and the rest is history. Chad is one of our 2024 Platinum draw winners who chose a free guided hunt in New Zealand where he harvested a 600"+ trophy Red Stag, Arapawa Ram, and Fallow Deer. On today’s Hunt the World Brian and Brad discuss felt recoil. When you fire a round the felt recoil is the backward kick you get from your gun, measured in foot-pounds. It can be mild or severe depending upon a lot of factors, your body weight, the type of ammo you use and the weight of your rifle. There are huge advantages to creating a situation where you lessen the felt recoil as much as possible. The biggest advantage is the ability to follow your shot. There’s an old Powerball saying that goes “you can’t win if you don’t play.” The same might be said when if comes to applying for tags. What’s it like going through a precision shooting school from our member’s perspective? The Wyoming Wildlife Task Force is proposing six additional changes to Wyoming hunting laws. As of early summer 2022 they are seeking public input on these changes, any one of which will have a significant impact on the way non-residents and residents will hunt big game in Wyoming in the future. The proposals effect antelope, deer and elk hunting in the state - none of these species were impacted in the first round of changes implemented in 2022 which were covered in Hunt the World Episode 103. As dangerous bear-human interactions increase, more and more folks are realizing that Colorado has too many bears and not enough hunters. Our guest today knows that well. He’s retired Colorado Parks & Wildlife Biologist Jeff Yost. Jeff also happens to be Kelli Poole’s former boss. Kelli is Rolling Bone’s Applications and Adventures Coach and she joins Brian and Brad for this episode. Jeff has unique insight into this problem and pulls no punches when talking about the politics of wildlife management. After a grueling Dall sheep hunt in 2002 Jim Winjum harvested what he came for - but on the way down the Mackenzie Mountains in the NWT things almost came to halt as Jim’s boots gave out. Since the reintroduction of the gray wolf in Yellowstone National Park and central Idaho in 1995 their presence in the American West has been a constant tug of war between the political activists, conservationists, biologists and outdoorsmen. Now that their numbers are on the rise wolves are causing a depredation of deer and elk herds - severely limiting opportunities for sportsmen in many areas of the west. In addition, cattlemen are just beginning to see wolf kills among their herds in places like Colorado. In this Hunt the World episode we are so happy to have as our guest 22-year old Dylan Heide, one of our newest RBO Adventure Advisors from central Wyoming and a social media influencer with nearly 70,000 fans on Instagram. There’s a mindset that seems to say if I don’t do that, I’ve failed - because it seems everyone else on IG is posting pictures of B&C class animals. Screw that. In this episode we hope to encourage you that there’s more to hunting than one-upping someone on social media. Brian, Brad and Bryan discuss how to stay out of that trap by managing expectations in a way that leads to happy hunting, no matter the outcome. DIY plays an important role in nearly every outdoorsman’s hunting career. But there are times when a guided hunt is a must. And in between the guys talk about how semi-guided and dropped hunts figure into your strategy. Each RBO team member gives you their take on DIY and guided hunts. Brian also dispels a false perception that RBO does not serve DIY hunters, in fact he talks about how Rolling Bones Outdoors helps DIY members. And in the end, the team talks about a strategy that will help you afford a guided or semi-guided hunt when you're ready to take that step.
At the Bone Cave we get a lot of questions about BDC turrets. BDC stands for Bullet Drop Compensation, and BDC turrets offer the easiest way to dial number of clicks to compensate for bullet drop when shooting at longer distances. These turrets are usually found on hunting scopes for long-range hunting. We call RBO's system a range, dial-and-dump system (shout out to Jeff Sipe). You range your animal (say 600 yards) and use your dope card (RBO has done the homework for you on knowing your bullet, and it's velocity) and then you apply the number of clicks needed to compensate for the bullet's drop over that distance. If you're hunting out west, long range shots are the norm and having a good BDC turret will add greatly to your hunting success. Rolling Bones does have a package where we take your favorite rifle and turn it into a precision, long-range firearm with a scope and BDC turret (26:12). At 28:55 Brian and Brad give the top three things they like about a BDC turret.
We’re talking tripods in this episode of Hunt the World. When hunting in the west or in any long-range shooting environment worldwide, a tripod is an indispensable piece of equipment. Getting the right one for your specific application is vital, most of the time to mount a spotting score - sometimes a camera. Back to ballistics today. Let's talk ammo. For years the Rolling Bones crew has had great success with the 6 Creedmore. But recently they decided to take the leap and give a closer look in the field at the .22 Creedmore. Far from an eye roll, what they discovered really opened their eyes. And in this episode Brian Mehmen and Brad Dana discuss with Bryan Martin their conversion to the 22CM which is a lighter and faster bullet, in essence dethroning the 22-250 as the king of cartridges when it comes to varmints and even some big game. They field tested it while mule deer hunting in SE Montana and report on the results in this Hunt the World.
The 2021 hunt season in North America is well underway. In this episode Brian Mehmen, Brad Dana and Bryan Martin bring back a report on how the summer drought in the western Dakotas, eastern Wyoming and parts of eastern Montana has affected deer numbers. Dry weather brought a shortage of grass and forage and also saw stagnant water leading to the midge-spread EHD and blue tongue. It took a while but Bryan Martin finally had the points to draw into a prime region of northwest Wyoming for elk. In this episode he takes us on the hunt beginning with details of scouting the area, packing in, watching a huge bull that seemed to just disappear and what he was able to come home with. In today's Hunt the World episode Brian Mehmen, Brad Dana and Bryan Martin discuss the pro's and con's of long range shooting. They cover a few of the negative effects such as buying a gun and thinking you can do anything with it without practice. Some positives include wildlife is more relaxed at 400-yards and you are more calm as well. The guys also cover some common sense rules about long-range shooting such as never assuming your gun is set up properly. Technology with long-range shooting has brought more trophies to our walls but it also brings with it the responsibility of logging the proper trigger time to master the craft. Whatever your skill level the guys also talk about the importance of being honest with your abilities to your guide is you are on a guided hunt. Finally the guys share their best stories of long-range shooting success.
In today’s episode Brian Mehmen, Brad Dana and Bryan Martin give the lowdown on their great stove experiment. Each of them chose a different backpacking stove to set up, light and compare performance. Brian Mehman chose the MSR Whisperlite International, Brad Dana has the Optimus Polaris Optifuel, and Bryan Martin was demonstrating the Primus Omnifuel Multi Fuel backpacking stove. The guys set up the stoves in the Bone Cave (not recommended - should have been outside, you’ll see why) and put each system through its paces. One additional small piece of gear that made a big difference on Brad’s stove was the Primus Omnilite TI Silencer (at 12:37) which not only quieted the stove but distributed the heat better. Bryan Martin gives his advice on traveling internationally with a stove (at 14:00) and some tips on carrying fuel bottles and fuel requirements. Brad and Brian give their perspective (at 17:35. ) on making good coffee with a backpack stove. The guys then tell you why the ceiling in the bone cave got “sindged” (at 20:04). Bryan Martin also provides alternative stove ideas (23:37) for specific wilderness uses. Join the story of Brian’s successful December 2020 Sitka black-tailed deer adventure hunt on Kodiak Island, Alaska. Today we take a journey to eastern Russia (not far from Alaska - actually) to learn about hunting snow sheep. If you’ve ever thought about going on a sheep hunting adventure, this is the one the RBO staff would encourage you to consider. Brian, Bryan and Brad begin with a brief mention of maps which includes the “old school” topos which can be a great backup. At the 8:35 mark Bryan Martin talks about rifle gear that you need to take with you on your next trip. This includes bipods shooting sticks, rifle slings, scope covers, cheek pieces and cleaning gear. When we’re getting ready for the upcoming hunting season there are a ton of little things that we tend to forget that are HUGELY important. In today’s episode Brian, Bryan and Brad use their years of hunting and pack experience to go over a list of several small things that are easy to forget but extra valuable if not essential to have in your pack. Among them, headlamps, water bottles, batteries, chargers, fire starters, lighters, whistles, compass and lots more. Use this as a reference episode.

When you're ready to begin looking at your next hunting adventure should I choose a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) approach or should I choose a guided hunt? This is a good question and often the subject of debate. In today’s Hunt the World, Bryan, Brian and Brad talk about how they approach the subject. Sometimes it’s better to choose DIY, sometimes it is better to choose a guided hunt. DIY is tempting because it’s generally less expensive, but is it really? Conversely guided hunts can be more expensive but is there more value to them than meets the eye? Drop in for some good advice from three hunters who’ve hunted in their own backyards and around the globe.
There are several important things to remember when selecting the proper pack for a backpack hunt.
