Next Steps:
Read Luke 1:26-38. What do you think was running through Mary’s mind when she heard Gabriel’s words? How would you have felt in her place?
Pastor Kerry reminded us that Christmas invites us to live with wonder at the plans of God for our life. What do you think the word ‘wonder’ means? Is this a word you would use to describe your attitude towards God’s plans? Why or why not? Take a few minutes and journal your response.
This week, we challenge you to choose one song from a recent church service and sing it every day this week, but also spend time meditating on it, journaling about it, and maybe memorizing it, letting the truth of its words about God root themselves in your heart and mind.

This week Pastor Kerry continues leading us on a journey through Psalm 103 by highlighting the compassion of God. Spoiler alert! God loves all of us so much and consistently pursues us with life changing compassion. Once we experience the abundance of God's compassion we can't help but be thankful!
*If you would like to get connected to what's happening at East Side, CLICK HERE.
Next Steps:
Read Psalm 103:13-18. Underline all the words or phrases used to describe humanity’s life. Then circle the words or phrases used to describe God’s love and compassion. Do you see a contrast between these two? What do you think the Psalmist is trying to communicate through this comparison?
Pastor Kerry reminded us that God’s compassion is personal. Often, we are tempted to view God as a distant, yet powerful being. What do you think it means that God’s compassion is personal? When you think of God, what images first come to mind? A loving parent or a cosmic judge? Why do you think that is? Take a few minutes and journal your response.
For the month of November, we are challenging you to keep a gratitude journal. This week, in addition to journaling things that you are grateful for, we challenge you to practice one act of kindness each day. This can be as simple as holding the door for a stranger or as elaborate as cooking dinner for a friend in need. Make sure you take time to reflect on how your act of kindness impacted others and how you felt as a result as well.
Psalm 103:13-18
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
For those of us who are less than perfect, we know what a wonderful gift mercy can be. Join us as we explore the beauty of God's mercy and how it transforms our lives!

Psalm 103:6-12 (ESV)
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,

This week Pastor Kerry focuses on Galatians 6:11-18 where we discover what it means to be Re-Purposed for Walking with Jesus. Let's grow in our journey together!
Re-Purposed for Walking With Jesus Galatians 6:11-18 (ESV) See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
Walking with Jesus is both a personal and a communal commitment. Galatians 6:11 (ESV) See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.
Walking with Jesus creates a reciprocal relationship of crucifixion between us and the world around us. Galatians 6:12-14 (ESV) But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Walking with Jesus makes us a new creation marked by peace and mercy. Galatians 6:15-18 (ESV) For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.

Join us as Pastor Kerry unpacks Galatians 6:6-10.
Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.Galatians 6:6 (ESV)
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Galatians 6:7-8 (ESV)
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9-10 (ESV)
