The first episode of this series is with my father.
Dad, or more famously known in Singapore as Tony Singh, has been in the family business since the 1980s and since then the business has grown tremendously. His role revolves managing the Finance and Day to Day operations of the 43 stores across Singapore.
As the Managing Director Sports Fashion & Performance Sports, Singapore, he spends alot of time thinking about his life and is one of the most pragmatic people I know who makes decisions for the long haul. Many look up to him for advice.
I agree and disagree with some of what he said, but speaking to a family member, it was evident I was a nervous wreck!
This is an ode to my Dad and his Dad for passing on family values that I will forever be grateful for.
Hope you enjoy hearing from him, stay tuned for the episodes to come with other Entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs!

Summary of BookFor those of you who have not read it, James talks about how 6 years after he had been hit in the face with a baseball bat, flown to the hospital, placed in coma, he was selected as the top male athlete in his university and awarded by ESPN, an honour given to only 30 players across the country. When started working, he began publishing articles about the habits he built over the years and not long after coaches in the NFL, NBA and MLB were reaching out to him. He then went on to start the a habits academy which became the premier training platform for organisations and individuals interested in building better habits.
The book draws on biology, neurology, philosophy, psychology to create a step by step actionable way to building better habits not for days or weeks but for a lifetime. It’s called atomic habits as it talks about how a tiny change, a marginal gain that are the building blocks of remarkable results. The concepts in the book help to fulfill your potential whether your goals centre around health, money, productivity, relationships or all of the above. I think the way it was written was extremely applicable to the goals we have in every aspect of our life.

World-renowned innovation expert Clayton M. Christensen's How Will You Measure Your Life is a book of lucid observations and penetrating insights designed to help any reader—student or teacher, mid-career professional or retiree, parent or child—forge their own paths to fulfilment.
The book uses research done at the Harvard Business school and in some of the worlds other leading universities. It's been rigorously tested in organisations of all sizes around the world as well.
In this podcast, I summarise 3 business theories that could be applied to our personal life. I look forward to hearing from you on how it's shaped your perspective .

"You might be tempted to try to make decisions in your life based on what happened in the past or what has happened to other people. You should learn all that you can from the past; from scholars who have studied it, and from people who have gone through problems of that sort that you are likely to face.
But that does not solve the fundamental challenge of what information you should accept and which you should ignore as you embark into the future. Instead using robust theory to predict what will happen has a much greater chance of success. The theories in this book are based on a deep understanding of human endeavour - what causes what to happen and why. They have been rigorously examined and used in organisations all over the globe, and can help all of us with decisions that we make every day in our lives, too”.
This is a continuation from the first episode which was about building Internal Self Awareness.
Dr Tasha Eurisch is an organisational psychologist, researcher and a New York best-selling author. With studies from other psychologists she wrote Insight for anyone who wants to make the leap from self-blindness to self-insight, and in turn, reap the rewards of smarter choices, stronger relationships and a better life. She believes that there are people who think they are self-aware and actually are and her vision is to create more of the latter.
In this episode I summarise her learnings on how to build External Self-Awareness as well as who are the kind of people who live in this Self-Deluded world.
To help understand the baseline of your self awareness, this link would help www.insight-quiz.com.
If you are serious about this, strongly suggest popping in your earphones.

She goes as far as saying “self-awareness is the meta skill of the 21st century”! I picked this book to start off with as I thought what better way to start off the series than to understand the importance of Introspection for Self Awareness.
In this episode I summarise 4 of her learnings on how to build Internal Self-Awareness. In the next episode, we will cover her thoughts on how to build external self awareness.
