I had the honour of being a guest on the hormonal mama podcast this past week, and I had so much fun connecting with Cara that I had to share it with you!

We both share a deep passion for Women's Health and hormones. Two women coming together dedicated to making it known that just because it is "common"  to have hormonal imbalances doesn't make it normal or ok!

I had such a great time getting to know her and am so excited to share this valuable episode with all of you. ♡

Have you ever thought about moving to a new city? What about a new country? What if you didn’t speak the language? Does it sound exciting or terrifying? Do you ever find yourself wishing you could do something but feel a nagging sense of self-doubt?

“Oh, I would love to do that if only I were more confident.”

If so, then this podcast is for you.

Bonnie has never walked a straight and narrow path; she is more of a wanderer – grabbing opportunities as they have come up. It all started when she was 18 and moved to Mexico for a year speaking no Spanish, other than the popular “North American phrase,” “Dos cervezas, por favor.” Since then, she has traveled to over 30 countries, living in Australia and Nicaragua for a year.

Back in Canada now, she is a coach and a teacher in a variety of arts and sports (dance, judo, diving), and through that, she recognizes a core feature that holds people of all ages back from progressing towards the life they want to live: Confidence. In this episode, she shares some simple ways to recognize, build up and protect self-confidence.

Dr. Bostock was drawn to Naturopathic Medicine because of its emphasis on empowering patients in their own healing process and its focus on utilizing nature’s principles in health.

From the time of his first day in practice, it has been his passion to assist patients in creating an approach that is suited to their goals and needs, that is safe and effective. With all of his patients, Dr. Bostock takes the time to listen to their concerns, educate them, connect dots where needed, and empower them with different options and treatments to reach their health goals in the shortest amount of time possible.

Most of his patients are dealing with some combination of the following: fatigue, anxiety, digestive concerns like bloating or constipation, hormone-related issues like painful periods, endometriosis, or PCOS. Depression and chronic pain are also very common. Regardless of the current symptoms, you’re having, the goal is working as a team to uncover the UNDERLYING CAUSES for why you’re not feeling your best. Once this is determined, steps are taken to address these causes--not just fix your symptoms.

Together, an individualized plan is created using natural treatments combined with modern science to restore and optimize your health. The treatment plan often includes nutrition and dietary recommendations, routine or specialty lab testing, and use of supplements integrated with movement and exercise or even use of bioidentical hormone treatment or pharmaceuticals, where necessary. Treatment is often done alongside other health care professionals to help create a treatment that compliments the strategies you already have in place.

Working in this way, life-changing results can happen. Newfound energy, waking rested, happy & stable moods…relief of lingering pain, embarrassing digestion, or skin issues. This translates to a much more healthy, vibrant life--the kind Dr. Bostock believes we’re all meant to live.

You all know I love women’s health from the umbrella of health, happiness, hormones, and the harmony between all of them. Helping women from this perspective has become a deep passion and purpose of mine. In this episode, I dive into the realm of habits and identity from that space. Your habits create your identity; your identity fuels your habits. What is beautiful is this is a cycle that you have control over.

Changing my identity from someone who was broken, chronically ill, and couldn't be helped to a place of empowered action taking was one of the greatest shifts of my life.

You have the control of breaking whatever cycle you are in that no longer aligns with you and change it at any moment.

This week's episode dives into focussing on using what we have control over to help us get out of a state of overwhelm. We have more control over things than I think we give ourselves credit for. When we get into an unresourceful state and feeling the weight of the world, this is one of the most powerful tools that can bring us back from those big feelings (which are valid, and I get into that as well!)

Prep yourself; this may have turned a little emotional and maybe didn't even come across as I had meant - I wasn't planning on tears...but I feel the message is important.

In this episode, we were joined by a life transformer and the host of SOULcleanse, Dylan Bowman. There's so much vulnerability in this episode, but also we had fun sharing our experiences, thoughts and opinions. We chatted about what it is like to be a woman and a mom, embracing and celebrating being feminine, moving through pain, triggers, self-love, and so much more.

Dylan Bowman has been training clients for over 13 years after receiving her personal training certification from the National Personal Training Institute in 2008. Next, she was certified in massage, yoga-training with specialization in yin-style, meditation, and reiki level 1 and 2 will be going for reiki master. She trained in SRI while working for a Network Spinal Analysis office. This inspired her to create her own breathwork influenced by SRI. Everything she did assisted in expanding my intuition to connect better with humans.

It's been such a beautiful journey discovering all these beautiful women who share our vision, passion, and love for womanhood. Today's episode is no different because we sit down with Amy Cothren, the founder of The Mama Mindset podcast. We had such a good discussion that we lost track of time, but we're sure you'll love it! This episode is filled with nuggets of wisdom and empowerment that all women should hear! Stay tuned!

Amy is a mother of 3 beautiful girls and a wife. She left her dream job a few months after her first daughter was born to be a stay-at-home mom, and never looked back. Without a mentor or a solid community to guide or assist her on this new path, it was up to her to direct her life down the course she wanted it to go. Her passion is to shift the mama mindset, one woman at a time.

The Mama Mindset podcast was born from Amy's passion for creating a growth mindset among moms, and I feel that is the key to leading a fulfilled life. At some point, someone decided women should be talked to softly, kindly, and gently. She says we need to put a stop to all of that.

In this episode, we talk to the owner of Food Effects Nutrition about how our mindset about food can significantly affect our relationship with food. Brigitta Beer shares her journey as a child and how she struggled with certain food. The realization she made that it’s not the mindset she’d like to pass on to her kids. We also talked about the challenges of having kids who are picky eaters and what you can do as a mom to support them. More importantly, we covered the culture of dieting and how this has affected most of us negatively.

Brigitta was working towards becoming a personal trainer and in the process, started more formal training in nutrition, and it just clicked one day. She realized she needed to really undo a lot of what she thought about food and health and rebuild based on what her body told her it needed – and what was harming it. Now, she’s a registered holistic nutritionist, and she believes she can help people best by listening to their symptoms and looking at their live blood.

With advanced certification in live blood analysis, looking at a person’s blood under a microscope gives us tons of indications about what’s going on between their gut, digestion, pH balance, nutrient deficiencies, organ imbalances – plus so much more – and their overall health. When we correct the imbalances, the rest of the body falls in line. And how do we do this? With real food.

Today's topic is a prelude to upcoming episodes about health. We wanted to talk about health and what it is? Is it simply the absence of illness, or does health encompasses more than just your physical state? We wanted to paint a picture that physical health is just a piece of the puzzle, and there are MORE aspects in our life that we need to address. Being healthy is about your relationship with your environment, your community, and so much more. Our body is supposed to live in homeostasis, and so the connections between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states are essential.

Today’s a hard topic because as humans, we are programmed to be social beings and we are taught to fit in. So having to sit down and reflect on who you have to be around is painful. It is part of “growing up” to ask, “Are the people around me helping me or hurting me?” Evaluating the people around you is a big part of self-care; whether they are taking you to your next level or pulling you down instead. Having to let go of people who aren’t influencing you to better yourself might sound selfish, but these are those moments when you are allowed to make selfish decisions for yourself.

[9:12] “You teach people how to treat you”
[11:56] Imposter syndrome
[13:52] Losing yourself in the process of pleasing others
[16:31] Getting uncomfortable is where growth is
[18:56] We’ve come a long way in our community
[19:58] It sometimes takes somebody believing in you for you to believe in yourself

Today’s topic is something most moms are having a hard time doing because of guilt. Unfortunately, moms are wired to think that self care is a form of selfishness and that doing so will make us “bad moms”. Thankfully it’s one of those things that we get wrong. In today’s episode, we talk about self care and how important it is especially for moms. It’s just a matter of understanding your needs and figuring out how to incorporate that into your life. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

The state of overwhelm is one of those things that moms are constantly being pulled into, but it's also something that women find difficult to recognize. More often than not, we are already at the breaking point before recognizing the state we are already in. There’s so much stigma around this topic and so we wanted to open a discussion about overwhelm in today’s episode. Remember that at the end of the day what’s best for the people around you is for you to NOT pour from an empty cup.
