Sick of self defeating behaviours? Exhausted with the self sabotaging cycles? Frustrated with poor self image and belief dismantling your dreams? “Success isn’t that difficult; it merely involves taking twenty steps in a singular direction. Most people take one step in twenty directions”Goals are powerful because they give you the direction, clarity, and focus to thrive in life. Yet many people struggle to make consistent progress, follow through on their tasks, or reach any of their objectives despite their best effort. Often, there’s something deeper at root holding them back—mentally, emotionally, etc —stopping them from achieving their visions. The goals they've set are not aligned with their VALUES, their highest priorities in life, the things MOST important to the individual. Our values are those deep down beliefs we hold about our purpose and our place in the world. Values might be considered the primary drivers behind our human experience they tell us who we are, our purpose, our identity. And when we live in alignment with them, we feel authentic and fulfilled. In order to make our values more manageable, first we need to identify them, then address them one by one. Then our goals become landmarks along the path as we navigate our way through life guided by our values. WANT to learn more? Join Jamie Milne to utilise Universal & Scientific laws, to go from where you are now to where you WANT to be! Yeah, yeah, I know my values, my beliefs, it’s my kids, honesty, nature… Cool story, bro! Knowing your unique hierarchy of values, or highest priorities, is the most important place to start if you intend to expand to the next level of your life. VALUES ARE UNCONSCIOUS. Meaning you will be unaware of what the primary drivers are, the intrinsic motivators of your life are. Knowing your values is knowing your true identify, purpose in life. Whether you wish to grow your finances, leadership, influence or your business, whether your intention is to transform your relationship, health or any area of your life, it all starts with understanding what’s highest on your Values.

Goal Setting Seminar Live at Jamie Milne Training on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Ready to take inspired action for yourself? Book a free 20min consultation with me It all starts with awareness. Conscious awareness. What is the conscious mind you might ask? The conscious mind is easy to understand. In fact, you’re using it right now. It’s your “waking” mind. The awareness of things you can focus on. It’s able to deal with between 5-9 ideas or experiences at a time. It’s the “here and now” mind that makes choices, makes plans, and helps you enjoy life. So let me ask you, what are you consciously aware of that you REALLY want to achieve, obtain, save for, aspire to, be have?Example:

I want to be 65kg but I can never lose that 30kg. I want to save for a house, though I just can’t seem to get the money together. I've ALWAYS wanted to visit Europe, though I have never been able to get there. I’ve always wanted to have ABS but I just can’t get that belly fat off.

If you are consciously aware of what you have ALWAYS wanted you may very well be also consciously aware of what gets in your way. The bad habits, the lack of self management/ discipline etc.So, let me ask you another question, and this helps immensely with motivation. Why do you honestly want ........ INSERT here ..... Really - WHY do you want it?Knowing the “Why” simply means understanding why you are doing something before you do it. Some will refer to the “why” as the “guiding principle” or the “primary objective”. They all mean the same thing: understanding the purpose of the activity.Understanding the purpose of your activity will enable you to remain steadfast in your pursuit, and give you a greater chance of having an undoubtable belief! So here is a 3 step process to ignite your fire of purpose towards finally getting what you want.STEP ONE Get clear on the outcome. What do you want and WHY?STEP TWOWith conscious awareness, note down what might actually get in your way from achieving step one. What might hinder you or prevent you taking action? Use the following system to assist you overcoming roadblocks - the IF - WHEN - THEN strategy:

Establish IF this happens (IF means something that may happen though it’s not definite ) THEN I’ll do this...

Or:

WHEN this happens (WHEN means it’s definitely going to happen) THEN I’ll do this...

This is one of the best problem solving and troubleshooting methods. An example - for saving money:

IF an unexpected desire to purchase something arises when I’m trying to save I’ll THEN ask myself if it is a need or want, put the object back and sleep on it.

Or

WHEN an urgent bill crops up THEN I’ll either pop it on a payment plan, contact the debtor or use the money I’ve put aside for it.

STEP THREEEstablish the resources you have to prevent the above from occurring. Make sure you're organised and you clear the pathway to achieving what you want. Stay congruent to what’s important and stay in alignment with your why.In summary:

Get clear on what you want Figure out what may prevent you from obtaining “said” want Problem-solve against what will get in your way and identify the resources needed to achieve that.

Now remember, knowledge is only power with action, inspired action. You can read this post, you can like it, but if you don’t ACTION it, it won’t work. It only works if you DO the work. Ready to take inspired action for yourself? Book a free 20min consultation with me

Cognitive distortions have a way of causing havoc in our lives - if we allow them to. This sort of unhelpful, ''stinkin' thinkin'' can be undone, but it requires effort, patience and lots of practice - every day! If you want to put an end to these irrational thinking patterns, you can start by trying out the 'STOPP Strategy'. Learning this one essential skill can help you to take control of your emotions and your life. Watch the video or download this podcast audio and take a few minutes to read through the steps below and then, why not? Start practising! Here are the STOPP Steps:

STOP: Don’t act impulsively. Wait. TAKE A BREATHSlowly breathe in and out a few times. OBSERVEWhat am I focusing on? What am I thinking about? What is it that I'm reacting to? What am I feeling in my body? PERSPECTIVEConsider the bigger picture. Is this fact or is it opinion? Could there be a different way of looking at this? Consider what someone else would say about it? How does this affect other people? What advice would I offer a friend in the same situation? How important is this situation right now? PRACTISE WHAT WORKSConsider the consequences. What is the best thing to do? Do whatever will help the most!

How to put STOPP into practice:

Practise the first two steps frequently for a few days - several times every day. Read through the steps regularly. Practise STOPP by working through each of the steps several times a day, every day... even when you don't need it. Start using it for minor upsets - when you notice yourself responding emotionally to something that's happening. Over time, you'll find that you can use it for more major and distressing situations. Like any new skill or habit, it will become automatic - with practise.

Anxiety & stress can be debilitating and overwhelming. Definition of "stress":

Stress is often described as feeling overloaded, wound-up, tense and worried, and occurs when we face situations where we feel we can’t cope, or have the resources available to deal with it.

(Australian Psychological Society 2015) Definition of "anxiety":

Feeling anxious in certain situations can help us avoid danger, triggering our 'fight or flight' response. It is how we’ve evolved to keep ourselves safe. Sometimes though, we can become overly worried about perceived threats – bad things that may or may not happen. When your worries are persistent or out of proportion to the reality of the threat, and get in the way of you living your life, you may have an anxiety.

(Black Dog Institute Australia 2018) So what is "Worry Time"? Worry time actually allocates time to emptying your mind, problem solving and trouble solving particular situations to eliminate generalised anxiety and stress, and puts your mind set, thought process into a positive problem solving lens. From Victim to Victor!
