We’re swinging for the fences towards the conclusion of Season 2 with a Western dream sequence! Carl fights with Steve’s dad Dr. Urkel (otherwise known as “Herb” in past episodes) over a smelly compost heap and it leads an angry Steve to want to fight Carl to defend his dad’s honor. A very problematic episode that can still somehow make us laugh! Carl realizes that he has to set up Lt. Murtaugh with Rachel if he wants to keep his job. Meanwhile, Steve buys an ID bracelet from shady dealer Waldo to give to Laura as the next step in their imaginary relationship. The outcome for both Steve and Murtaugh would have you think we’re supposed to sympatheize with them, but ehhhhhh, not so much!

Two HEAVY episodes within two weeks! The Winslows and Steve Urkel are introduced to this friendly grandfatherly figure named Jimmy Holmes. He goes from sharing action-packed bush pilot stories to suddenly revealing that he’s really Jimmy Baines, the father whom Harriette and Rachel haven’t seen since they were kids. The way Jimmy chooses to re-enter and establish a relationship with his adult daughters is very much up for debate. Let’s discuss!

It’s the iconic “Urkel Dance” episode! School bully Willie Fuffner returns and is jealous that Steve is the life of Maxine’s rooftop party. He spikes Steve’s drink and all hell breaks loose when it didn’t need to be if ADULT Rachel, Laura, or any of the other kids at the party used their brains (obviously we cannot rely on Waldo). TWO important character debuts in this episode: Arnold Johnson as Mama Winslow’s man Fletcher Thomas and Shawn Harrison as Waldo Geraldo Faldo!
While Estelle welcomes a new love into the Winslow home, Waldo acts as sidekick to Larenz Tate’s Willie Fuffner, the school bully who will not allow ANYONE to take Laura Winslow to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Of course, this doesn’t sit well with Steve Urkel, and the two duke out their differences in the boxing ring.
