So, by now you've gathered that I am a conversation junkie and have a compulsion to record these rabbit hole talks with friends. One of my favorite people is my brother from another mother, Deth Im and we talk alot of trash...like alot, alot! We talk politics, sports, religion and a whole host of things - usually in public and often to the chagrin of the mostly white, conservative crowds we find ourselves in here in Kansas City.
Instead of ruining everyone else's sports watching experience, we decided to launch a podcast instead. We call this show 'TrailBlasian' and this will be a weekly show (consider this show as Level Set's Ride or Die cousin...we all have one and if you don't, you are probably that cousin) and as best as we can weigh in on what is happening in the news. Of course, we managed to record prior to the huge Aug. 2nd vote -- shout out to Kansas which is still the Free 'Muthaf***in' State -- however know in this next episode we will be giving our local flavor on this incredible accomplishment by the electorate.
In this episode we are talking SCOTUS, the changing of the guard in Democratic party leadership, the marvel of a show that is Ms. Marvel and this frightening trend in elected officials calling for Christian Nationalism. Trust me, this part of conversation is so worth the listen. We are getting real in here.

Happy Juneteenth, y'all! Here's hoping that you all enjoyed that hastily introduced national day off (yep...though it's been a while but we are absolutely rocking with the snark!) and that you're safe and well. We've missed your smiling faces and are happy to be all up in your earhole.

Let's face it: what happened in Georgia this week represents a defining moment in our nation's history. Gov. Brian Kemp signed SB 202 -- a 900 pages omnibus voter suppression bill -- and the dominos will begin to fall in at least 43 other states looking to pass similar bills that will turn the clock back on democracy and racial justice for people of color and people of conscience.
So, we're gonna dig into what it all means in this episode while also waxing poetic on: not-so-great political slogans, Jerry being on the audiobook struggle bus, Queen Stacey Abrams doing her thing in 2022, Beto People and possibly misquoting Danny Ocean.
Most importantly, we are paying homage to KC social justice hero, icon and co-founder of Operation Breakthrough Sr. Corita Bussanmas. May she Rest in Power after fighting the good fight for children and families in Kansas City for over six decades. In the second-half of the show, Jerry celebrates ObamaCare's 11th birthday while taking a detour to discuss Sir Paul McCartney, why FLOTUS Obama is a better audiobook narrator than her partner (who is also great), a brief tutorial on 'Organizer Speak" and why protecting voting rights is protecting the ACA.

By now, we've all seen the news and know about the Atlanta murders, as well as the increasing number of accounts of crimes being committed against people of Asian descent in cities across America. In this episode of the 'Uninvited', we are getting to the heart of the matter: white supremacy.
Specifically we are talking about the mindset that enables young men like the accused mass murderer in Atlanta to acquire firearms, makes excuses for their obviously anti-Asian racist and murderous actions, takes them thru the drive-thru at Burger King after having gunned down a Black church bible study and told how much they are loved after having attempted a coup to overthrow the federal government (and killed a cop in the process).
We also get to the need to pass the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and why the changing of the filibuster rules will almost be necessary in order to get enough people in the United Senators who believe women should be protected from physical, sexual, emotional and psychological harm...as well as death by gunshot.
We must stop Asian hate now. We must stop all the hate.

It has been a year and still there has been no justice for Breonna Taylor. Aside from an early detour to discuss the Ides of March, college basketball, covid and re-ignited love for pie (Happy Pi(e) Day, by the way!) the conversation is mostly centered upon the exploration of how structural and systemic racism is having adversely negative effects on the American criminal justice system, particularly upon African-Americans.
While we aren't having as much fun in this episode, we are touching on some important subject matter we can't shy away from. So, we're hoping your week is -- at minimum -- not nearly as bad as Meghan and Harry's but what we really want is that you're having a President Biden "go-on-with-yo-bad-self" week where you all the things you've said you would do have actually happened.
In this episode of the 'Uninvited', we are going into previously unchartered territory with Jerry questioning Meghan's motivation for the Oprah interview as well as Oprah's (and most of the American people's) response to the 'revelation' that the Royal Family is probably (by probably, we mean almost certainly) racist. In his ridiculousness, Jerry ventures off into how he is becoming a television snob because of his newfound addiction to British television shows as well as how an invading alien army might respond to his mythological racism polling of the Royal Family as well as wonders aloud why aliens don't prefer dolphins to humans, how the Queen outsmarted the devil in their soul swap deal and why the Crown will never resemble Zamunda with Prince Akeem on the throne.
We're also talking Joe Biden having the Best Week Ever and how his leadership style is spurring a new era of collaboration, as evidenced by the Johnson & Johnson - Merck partnership to produce the vaccine. How might we, armed with better intentions than Big Pharma, come together in the same way these business giants have to end racism, sexism and homophobia?
This is the challenge before us, Party Crashers.

In this episode of the 'Uninvited' we are reflecting on the events of March 7, 1965 -- the day that John Lewis and several hundred other leaders dared to march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge to get from Selma to Montgomery in the name of securing voting rights for Black people in the state of Alabama. Not only are we reflecting upon the past but taking inventory of where we are today and projecting onto the future what be at stake if we do not heed Lewis' call to get into "good trouble...necessary trouble."
Also in the episode, Jerry breaks down the role of strategy and tactics have played in the civil rights movement as well as digs into the efforts in statehouses across the country to suppress the vote and undermine the basic tenets of democracy.
While not nearly as snarky and lighthearted as he typically is, we think this episode may be one of the most important to listen to. We hope you'll take the ride with us.

Ha...don't front, we know you didn't watch it because we didn't either but that isn't stopping us from talking about it (briefly) after we've had a chance to talk about the CPAC 2021 conference, the Fat Elvis version of a Donald Trump shrine, how Jerry has never seen Harry Potter, Billy Joel being underrated, bucket list musicians, why Jacksonville smells, Daryl Hall and the O'Jays, and the danger for Democrats in ending the Senate filibuster.

Few people have had more of an impact on American politics over the past 30 years as Rush Limbaugh -- and damn near all of his contributions have produced nothing but gridlock and nastiness. In this episode, we discuss his legacy (briefly) and at the very end we give him the sendoff he deserves (he's hoping Pearl Jam doesn't sue for the use of their song that i feel pretty confident could have been written just for people like Limbaugh).
In this episode, we spend most of the time, however on completely non-related topics talking about the Cold-pocalypse, Tik Tok, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, AARP, Rick Perry, my favorite Texas residents (Emily and Shawn), Pietro from WandaVision, Columbia Record Club, Paris, gaining the Covid 19 (lbs) and Texas' energy grid (Okay...that is related to Cold-pocalypse...and Paris and Rick Perry so forget what i just said about being non-related. It is, however, a bunch of nonsense).
We think you'll like this episode as it is Jerry in rare, stream-of-consciousness rambling form. It was fun episode to record and we think you'll enjoy listening.

Yeah...so...it's been a minute but nothing quite like an impeachment trial and the awesomeness of 'WandaVision' to get this train wreck back on the airwaves.
So yeah, after a three-week (hell, it may have been longer but as we are in the COVID-19 Space-Time continuum) hiatus we are talking about the joys of complaining, ice cream, Jen Psaki, and a**hole Presidents who don't deserve their "Happy Presidents' Day" cards as well as the news of the day (if by news, you mean impeachment).
Still, we are having fun and it feels good to be back. Unlike those Zoom calls with old friends that you end by saying "we should do this again soon" and then it is seven months before you text them again, we mean it...we will be back. Like, for real for real this time.

Hope all is well in what has been a completely non-eventful news cycle...it has been years since that has happened and wow does it feel good!!! However, that doesn't stop Jerry from going in on elected officials, including Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Senator Josh Hawley and this might surprise you: President Joe Biden. In fact, Jerry spends most of his time discussing how the Biden administration is getting a couple of things really wrong that could be problematic for his base. There will be no free rides here on the 'Uninvited'.
In the heart of this episode, we are discussing the negative effects of having millions of Americans living in a 'pocket reality'. We will be digging into what we are seeing with Trump supporters from 1/6 to today and comparing what they are experiencing with the Disney+ show "WandaVision". SPOILER ALERT We will be discussing some details of 'WandaVision; and if you have not seen episode 3 you may want to watch it first before listening to this episode. Who else is hoping they perp walk the soon-to-be former POTUS out of the White House like he's on an episode of Law and Order: SVU???
We digress. We are almost there: the end of this crazy year. Just like the season finale of 'The Mandalorian' we are finishing strong, even as we shed a few tears in the process. In this episode, we pay homage to the one of the best endings in Star Wars history while also using it as an example of how we might approach the fountain of hope that is 2021.
We are talking Covid vaccines, failed algorithms and all the things we need to call by its name just like we were The Mandalorian.

In this episode, Jerry actually breaks some news (he didn't but let's let him think that he did) regarding the Attorney General before going into a small diatribe on how identity politics gets in the way of enjoying really, really bad (in the best possible way) political ads, celebrating the arrival of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine and the Electoral College certification of Joseph R. Biden as the President-elect of the United States.
However, Jerry gets on a soapbox (rightfully so) on that POS Wall Street Journal editorial that ran this past weekend on Dr. Jill Biden and how it is past time for us to begin to rid ourselves of expired ideas. In the episode, Jerry begins to make the case that in order for the nation to move forward in a post-Covid future that we must confront the systemic demons of America's past.
This one is short, a little sweet but packs a serious punch. We hope you'll enjoy it.

We've got a freaking vaccine...GIVE IT UP TO SCIENCE, HUH?!!! So yesterday we had the first recipients of the covid vaccine in the UK and it means the beginning of the end is near for this pandemic. We are celebrating the work of science (while also taking a timeout to humble brag on my exceptional team -- no we are not scientists but we are a collection of epidemiologists, behavioralists, ethnographers and grassroots organizers -- kicking ass to crush this damn virus) and more importantly celebrating the collaborative nature of the most significant achievements in science such as the discovery of the Higg's Boson, landing humans on the moon and now this covid vaccine.
As we celebrate this feat, we recognize (and discuss) that the same collaborative innovative mindset it took to create this life-saving vaccine must be applied to address the root causes of the systemic inequities which are causing the death and destruction this virus has manifested.
In between, Jerry makes a confession related to Michael Buble (don't ask), a couple of unsolicited Audible recommendations, discusses the real difference between using the term "minority" and "minoritized" and hands out a few Person-of-the-Year awards for good measure.
So basically, it's just Jerry being Jerry.

In this episode of 'Uninvited', Jerry focuses in on the concerted efforts to suppress the vote in the 2020 election and explores the state of Texas as a case study to highlight how the strategies to steal this election are not new or original in anyway but are rather part of a historic voter suppression playbook that America has used since its inception.
In the midst of this exploration, Jerry finds time in on Brett Favre, Lil' Wayne, the City of Boston, Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Man Allen West while also finding time to promote a book (not his but Matthew McConaughey's new memoir 'Greenlight') and shout out his two favorite Texans Emily and Shawn.

Like you, we here at the Uninvited are mourning the loss and celebrating the life of Ruth Bader Ginsberg - the conscience of the Supreme Court and the defender of freedom and justice for all in America.
Today's episode is all about the Notorious RBG and taking up the fight she so successfully fought for her entire legal career.
Since it is difficult to put into words what we're feeling right now, we aren't gonna to type any more words except to quote the great Alice Walker as we go thru this really tough -- and let's call it what it is...a rather shitty -- time. Ms. Walker says:
"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any." Just because it is dark now, we must summon the will to fight and exercise our power...and we must do it together. This is what Justice Ginsberg did her entire life and career and this is what we must do now.

It has been twenty episodes...and you can hardly tell with that faint attempt at a cold open with a hard-to-hear Obama clip but we promise everything else is much easier to hear (we will not promise better...but easier to hear absolutely!!!). In this "landmark" episode Jerry tags a digs on modern hip-hop (3:10) and Microsoft Teams (4:22) before getting into the focus, which is how these unprecedented times aren't that unprecedented (6:46) and how we are paying the ultimate price for repeating our failed history with our lives. Jerry pays tribute to our fallen teachers (15:45), thanks teachers, child care and adult care givers (17:14) before summoning the recently departed Sir Ken Robinson to challenge America's collective lack of imagination in the areas of education and the economy in hopes that we can spare our children of a continuation of the "old normal" (18:06).
From there, Jerry gets a little introspective and begins to work some things out while on-air (so thanks for the mini-therapy session) before getting all Killer Mike on y'all. He's sorry about that (ok...he's not really sorry.) (29:01)

Because Jerry doesn't like to get too emotional he deflects by talking Dancing with the Stars (24:30) and the one star of this season who is going to be Must See TV: the Tiger Queen, herself, Carol Baskin (27:04).
To round this quirky episode out, Jerry marks this landmark day in history by discussing the surrender of Japan to Allied Forces and issuing celebrity birthday shoutouts (31:54), making a passive-aggressive non-paid promotion of the Disney live-action film 'Mulan' (33:27) and wonders aloud who you believe would win a battle between two epic fictional characters (34:58).

Jerry here. Jacob Blake - a 29 year-old Black man - was shot seven times on Sunday by the Kenosha Police at point blank range after having broken up a domestic dispute. On Tuesday Kyle Rittenhouse - a 17 year-old white kid - was allowed to literally walk away scot free by the very same police force after having used his assault-styled weapon to shoot three people, killing two.
We're talking about it on the pod today.

Hey What's up, Party Crashers?!
So glad you're back for another one, as DJ Khaled likes to say. In this episode of 'Uninvited' you will learn why Jerry has earned "Father of the Year" points (3:08), while also learning about his obsession with all things Kansas Jayhawks before diving into the subject of how gardens can also be a cry for help (8:30) and what we might expect to hear from the First Lady in her speech at the RNC Convention (15:15).
Jerry tried really hard to avoid politics this weekend (17:49) and talks about what happened the moment he decided to "reconnect" with the news of the world on Twitter (19:16). Specifically, the recent poll showing American's comfort level with COVID-19 death (happy topic, we know). As he is prone to do, he veers off into a tangent but this time it is for a good reason - a shout out to the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County (www.wearewyandotte.com) and Wyandotte County Public Health Department. Ultimately, Jerry finally arrives to his goal which was to make several recommendations of television shows and music he listened to that helped him avoid the dumpster fire that is American politics (23:54). This all may have just been an excuse to rip on Money Mike, balloon drops and stupid political speeches as well as hype Joe Biden and The Chicks (plus wondering where the hell Julian Castro was this week)...but I'm sure if you're even considering burning 30 minutes listening to this you are probably down for it.

Happy 15th episode y'all! (However don't bring out the confetti just yet: he blunders his very cool ending)*. In this episode, Jerry spends time going goo-goo over the Greatest First Lady of All-Time, Michelle Obama and somehow suggests how her speech: a) made night one of the DNC Convention better than the BET Awards and b) was better than her husband's speeches (2:36). Jerry also praises Dr. Jill Biden (8:02) and even pays a passive-aggressive compliment to Bernie Sanders (11:08). From there Jerry praises the hosts does his first ever voting commercial (please listen to it) (16:22) before going into a conversation about Brit Hume's comparison of Obama/Biden (17:30) and the correlation between that and the subject of the systemic favoring of people groups which is the subject of Isabel Wilkerson's amazing new book 'Caste' (sidebar: buy this book TODAY. You will be glad you did). Jerry parks the car and talks a little bit about this. We think you will enjoy the convo (19:30)
Jerry then goes on shout out food access innovator Emily Brown (26:49) of the Food Equality Initiative (www.foodequalityinitiative.com) (sidebar: please consider supporting this amazing organization) and chef Anna Paradise of Oxford Comma Catering on his way to hyping up the lineup of Day 3 of the DNC convention Senator Kamala Harris' DNC speech (30:55), which includes Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Jerry's Celebrity Crush), Secretary Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama. Trust and believe that there will be a special Uninvited episode coming on Friday to talk all about it.
Before closing out, Jerry goes in on the My Pillow Guy, Chuck Todd and Melania Trump (34:39), hypes up the movie 'HEAT' as the greatest heist film of all-time while also tying it to fascism (don't ask. Just go with it, okay) (39:14) and then manages to butcher what would have been a dope ass ending to the pod where he shouts out parents and teachers. (Don't listen to what Jerry says at the end of the pod. Google "Miss Williams" not "Miss Wilson"). He is getting mail from AARP, which means he takes license in saying people's names incorrectly.

In this 14th episode (real friends may have intervened at this point but alas, here we are) of the 'Uninvited', the recently empty nested host talks about the Post Office and Stitch Fix (3:37); wonders why Trump would ever mess with Cliff Claven's livelihood and openly considers which character on Cheers would most likely be compliant/non-compliant with a COVID-19 mask order (4:47) before getting into the thing he so desperately wants to talk about: some of the wackiest candidates for Congress in the 2020 election (7:44).
Jerry gets into the question one GOP congressional incumbent is asking that everyone should have been asking but hasn't (8:20); he then discusses the most physically fit person running for Congress -- who might also simultaneously be the most mentally unfit person seeking office (14:49). For some reason, he then spends too much time talking about the right-wing conspiracy community - QAnon (18:45) - and their recent obsession with the trafficking of children (he meant to tell a story as to why he isn't a Chrissy Teigen fan but got lost in the sauce. Just Google 'Chrissy Teigen and Quvenzhane Wallis 2013 Oscars. This is why i have given her the side eye ever since). Ultimately all of it was a device to praise Donald Trump for following in President Obama's footsteps (27:20).
It wouldn't be the 'Uninvited' without Jerry getting on his soapbox, which he does at the (28:07) mark before shouting out a few August 16th celebrity birthdays including the creator of the Terminator and the most 'pure' of all pop stars to send you off with the oodles of disappointment that you collected with this episode.

In this 13th episode of 'Uninvited', Jerry expounds on the significance of the Biden-Harris ticket (2:15) and contrasts this announcement with the events in Charlottesville from 2017 - three years ago to the day, including the death of Heather Heyer (21:40) with a sidebar about Senator Klobuchar, Chuy's, ranch dressing and an ode to Shirley Chisholm squeezed in-between.
From there, Jerry is just going in on racism and fascism for a good long while before ending on COVID-19 and college football.
This one is a doozy(ish).

In this twelfth episode of recorded self-indulgent thought (successfully rebranded as a 'podcast'), Jerry does something he almost never does: he takes a Democrat to task (mark this day in history down) by commenting on former Vice-President Joe Biden's gaff on the difference between Black and Latinx communities (2:25) and why voting is more about choosing who we want to hold accountable more so than choosing the perfect candidate (8:47). Jerry then calls to make anti-racism a litmus test for Democratic candidates on par with being pro-choice (11:08) with all of the grandstanding you have come to expect from him. (Note: Jerry spends a crap ton of time talking about Uncle Joe: about his mask wearing, his bike riding without a helmet and who his running mate should be).
Speaking of gaffs, Jerry goes in on another sacred cow for liberals - the New York Times - as he discusses Maureen O'Dowds forgetting of the entire 2016 election (14:52) while giving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a shout out for her epic shade thrown O'Dowd's way (18:25).
Uninvited moves from gaffs to straight up presidential smoke and mirrors in the conversation regarding Trump's "address to the nation" and the signing of executive orders related to the economic disruptions caused by the inept handling of the coronavirus (20:33). Jerry talks about the Trump's orders, three of which he goes in-depth on (not too much depth...one would need to actually do the research and not watch four NBA games in a row in order to do the conversation justice but alas, here we are): Payroll Taxes, Unemployment Benefits and Eviction Moratoriums (Jerry spends more time grandstanding on evictions at the (31:39) mark). As he is one to do, Jerry almost completely derails talking about classic 80s films that would be problematic to film today and what he is watching on Netflix now (35:16) before finding his way back to the subject at hand while also shouting out the First Lady Michelle Obama -- and butchering the pronunciation of FLOTUS (38:24) and Elizabeth Warren (41:44) .
Before closing out, Jerry remembers the death of a young man that sparked a movement (43:25) and the birth of a voice that defined a generation (46:00) before calling on us to take care of ourselves and each other.

Here's the deal...Jerry is super beat today. So instead of normal time markers he asked me to simply say this episode includes everything he has become famous for*: humble brags, calls for self-care, Covid update Obama shout-outs (both Barack and Michelle), Frozen II shade, fact checking reporters, Trump critique, way too much time talking about college football coaches being racist and a call to action for November 3rd. In the 10th (and rather extended and winded) episode of the 'Uninvited', Jerry is in rare "Ramble Jazz" form as he departs from his prepared notes almost from the very beginning as he waxes poetic on NBA and how the game is just better in 'The Bubble' (2:07) before going in on Major League Baseball Commissioner and the Houston Asterisks (known to everyone who loves cheating baseball teams as the Astros) (4:50). Soon he finds his way back to where he intended to start, which is John Lewis but as he is prone to do Jerry uses the opportunity to go in on former President Bill Clinton and Joe Biden (he truly is a Democrat which means he is inadvertently sabotaging the candidate) (8:28). His issue with the Clinton and Biden is the troubling trend of prominent white Democrats telling people who is really black and who isn't OR who our heroes can be (10:45) while somehow paying Biden the high compliment of comparing him to a major Game of Thrones character (16:19) and offers his advice on who is VP pick should be (not Elizabeth Warren), while reaffirming his loyalty for Elizabeth Warren (18:02).
This wouldn't be a show unless Jerry makes the case for universal health care (20:00) and how the struggle for equitable healthcare policy dates back to slavery (21:21) and then ties a nice little John Lewis bow on it (23:44) because he wanted to make sure this episode would be joyful and aspirational. Before totally leaving this completely discombobulated part of the pod, Jerry takes a shot at the state of Oklahoma for its stance against the Black Lives Matter movement (25:18). From there Jerry goes on to talk Georgia Summer Camps, Indiana schools and whether or not adults have ever met their own children as all of our policies regarding camps and school openings seem to suggest that we clearly haven't (28:50).
Somehow, this pod lasts another 30 minutes from this point where he is talking about how teachers and parents are coping in the era of COVID-19 and the impact this will have on women in the workplace and at home (37:30). Jerry also walks down memory lane to discuss how we used to give a damn about essential workers (39:31) before sending a RIP shoutout to a familiar face in television and movies (54:40).
Apparently Jerry was inspired by 'Black is King' and went for the long form podcast that is just like Beyonce's video masterpiece sans video, a story arc, incredible music, Beyonce and a budget. Like 'King', this episode is a blur and a tour de force that will make you go "what was that?" except you won't listen to this over and over again.

Episode 9...and Jerry is just discovering there is a thing on his MacBook Pro called Garage Band (forgive him...he still believes BlackBerry is the "Paul's Boutique" of smart phones: too ahead of its time to be truly appreciated) that millions of people use to record podcasts everyday. So, of course he is excited (humor him) and goes on to spend a three minutes talking about two things he says he doesn't have time to talk about (Brett Kavanaugh and Bill Barr).
In a strange twist, Jerry kinda sorta defends the President (3:54) before immediately turning on him regarding his extolling the virtues of one Dr. Stella Immanuel, who has some interesting takes on COVID-19, Alien DNA and demon sex (6:11). Jerry then ventures into a conversation about some of his own racist ideas held out of necessity and briefly rants about the DC Sniper (it is connected-ish, trust me) (11:20) before turning attention to Trump's recent tweets about protecting the Suburban Lifestyle Dream and a brief stops at Wall of Moms, federal protections ending on eviction protections and unemployment benefits (16:06) before landing on Senator Tom Cotton's comments about slavery being a necessary evil (21:50). Since it wouldn't be like him not to tie it to healthcare, Jerry connects Cotton's statements and slavery to tipping (25:29) and to ObamaCare (28:31). Then he briefly explains the Social Determinants of Health in a public health nerd moment (30:15) because that is kinda Jerry's jam before discussing his "love" for capitalism (33:28...have we mentioned that Jerry is prone to hyperbole???).
On a positive note, this thing ends with a call to vote (36:21) and a diss on boneless hot wings (38:05)...or shall we say the best part is not the wings discussion but rather that it ends, albeit in typical awkward fashion.
Come back for an even more disappointment on Sunday.

From the jump of this eighth episode of 'Uninvited', Jerry passive aggressively asks for credit for being right on a couple of things that everyone with a brain already knew regarding men and politics (0:57) while meandering down Sidebar Lane to discuss his belief in jinx's, Facebook and the KC Football team while also making a humble brag, which he is prone to do. Jerry goes in on the AOC/Yoho situation in Congress (3:15) while also lamenting the GOP of old (7:13) , his dysfunctional relationship with winning and losing (8:16) and how a particular KS republican reminds him of his childhood fear (12:04).
The actual things Jerry wanted to talk about today: Operation Legend (13:21) and the ties to Kansas City politics, the tyranny taking place in Portland (20:55) and the murder of BLM protestor and military veteran Garrett Foster in Austin, TX this weekend (26:22) all touch upon the dangers of racism and he makes a call for all of us to abolish racism.
In an effort to lighten the mode, Jerry gives his birthday shoutouts for July 26th. Just know he is going to shout out BirdBox, Underworld, The Transporter and Clockwork Orange...so there ya go folks! This is why no one invites Jerry to things. :)

In the seventh episode (can you believe he's still doing this???) of the 'Uninvited', Jerry starts by checking in with the Party Crashers (that would be you) just to see how everyone is doing (1:04) before going into a little bit of background on where he grew up (because Jerry loves talking about Kansas City) KC BBQ and Wyandotte County's attitude problem (2:53).
Jerry then pivots to...WAIT FOR IT...the tension re: school reopening (5:50) and stays here for a little bit as he discusses how different governors are responding to school re-openings and COVID-19 in general. At (12:37), Jerry goes in on Georgia governor Brian Kemp for his lawsuit against Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and his dubious recent political history of attempting to undermine black women before offering some specific advice for men (19:15).
Jerry then offers his "theories" behind the federal troops in Portland and the Operation Legend (which is based on a tragic murder that took place in Kansas City). In this pontification Jerry manages to discuss MAGA, Wall of Moms, minivans, unemployment benefits, Pro-Mask Donald Trump, Hulk Hogan and the classic film "Armageddon" (20:41) before offering a birthday shoutout to Senator Bob Dole (29:21) and a call to the Senate to honor Rep. John Lewis the right way (30:50). The show wraps up with shout outs to Woj (ESPN reporter), Claire McCaskill, Joy Reid, 2020 Olympians and to each of you who are out there making thing happen.

Riding the Twitter wave the entire show, Jerry discusses Kayne's (@ye) bid for the Presidency and the six degrees of separation from Donald Trump (2:40); Megan Thee Stallion (@theestallion) can't escape that Trump vortex because of her recent proximity to the Kardashian Twitter web (8:04); and the first Twitter megastar herself - Kim Kardashian West - receives a legit, not kidding around nod from Jerry (14:38). From there, Jerry reminds us that we need to keep saying her name - Breonna Taylor (17:04) before moving to a Twitter story regarding Asheville, NC and their efforts to address reparations for Black people (18:18). Somehow, Jerry winds up on a "who would you rather" hang with: Childish Gambino or Donald Glover (25:43) before completely going off-script telling celebrity encounter stories about Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) (27:14) and Eddie Vedder (@pearljam) (30:26), with a special nod to his friend Neko Case (@nekocase), who may not know they are actually friends (34:54).

In Episode 3 of 'Uninvited', Jerry jumps right in making big asks of the listener and those he wishes were listening, which includes the Louisville Metro Police Department and Senator Mitch McConnell (:55). From there, Jerry embraces an attitude of gratitude in issuing his "thank you's" for some big ticket items in the news so far this week which includes Amy Cooper, his old friend Wyatt and Jeremy Irons (fake news alert) (3:00). Jerry then goes on to celebrate the 10th anniversary infamous LeBron James 'Decision' media event (10:40) and goes into a rant about a hypothetical supergroup formed by Beyonce (14:30ish) before turning his attention and ire towards a dubious distinction earned by his local police department (17:31). Jerry, in an effort to lighten the mood switches it up to celebrate Patrick Mahomes but not just for the fat contract he just signed (22:59). Jerry then goes in on 'In and Out' in the 24-minute mark. He also goes back to the LeBron James well to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the infamous Banana Boat photo (25:44). However, Jerry can't help himself and finds himself dealing with apologies. He requests multiple apologies from Terry Crews in the 29-minute mark, especially for his role in 'Idiocracy' while marveling over Luke Wilson and Paul Rudd's youthful looks (31:44). Then Jerry goes into Trump's belated apology demands of Bubba Wallace (32:39) and then takes a dig at the President by invoking Jed Bartlett (34:37). Before signing off, Jerry invokes the name of his friend Ted and reads a text from Ted (not from Ted but from someone in Ted's extended, non-blood related family...whew, you get all of that?) (35:09) As if to recognize the train was almost completely off the rails, Jerry reels us all back in with a flurry of references including Ryan Adams (37:18), Aziz Ansari (38:27), and two more July 8th moment in history shout outs to the movie 'Inception' and the Spice Girls. (Apologies for the noises there towards the end. Jerry gets excited with all things Christopher Nolan!)

In the second episode of 'Uninvited', Jerry comes face-to-face with karma resulting from his first episode hi-jinx (:06) and he's just a little bitter about it (1:27). Somehow, he transitions to his six-word haiku (2:35), which leads to a rather ridiculous but kinda relatable rant about why Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen are better than Ryan Seacrest ; the Impeachment Trial and the need for Kansas City to change the name of their football team (5:25). As Jerry is prone to do, he makes a reference to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a way to explain our current socio-political climate (8:34) with a rousing, inspirational call to action* (12:09). As if he is on the Disney+ payroll (he's not), he jumps into 'Hamilton' (14:47) which somehow lands with him discussing Mt. Rushmore and the president's problematic visit there (18:49). (Jerry spends a bulk of the time here and is worth listening to this segment).
The rest: pure ranting about masks, respect, work/teaching balance and embracing the pendulum of quarantine emotions (somewhere into the 31st minute mark). Oh and there is pandering for continued conversations about dashed summer plans and how you're coping.

In this maiden voyage, Jerry talks a little bit about himself before jumping in all uninvited for a school has he no love for - Kansas State and their problems with addressing racism on their campus (2:07); with a little off-ramps talking about college athletics, Trump, Women's Soccer and the need for real leadership. Jerry turns his attention to Karen with a very interesting take (22:26) on what she has to do with racism in America. Don't forget to catch the public service announcement (32:26) and another final detour (this is gonna happen alot on this show) as Jerry barges into Will and Jada's private life (33:21).
Like we say, 'Uninvited' will quickly become your favorite train wreck of a podcast and this first episode does not disappoint (or it might, depending on your point of view).
