When the situation isn't what we expected, Christ encourages is to believe and fear not.
Aaron fashions a golden calf while Moses is on Mount Sinai, and Israel worships it. Mankind still has the tendency to fashion a god in the mind and worship it as we see fit.
Those that believe to the saving of the soul cannot draw back into perdition, because Faith coupled with God's grace keeps them. The writer shows what true Faith looks like in the lives of the OT patriarchs.
True saving faith changes those who receive it: causing them to serve God and persevere to the end.
The inward corruption of mankind is manifested outwardly, and organized religion does nothing to transform it.
Jesus appoints 12 disciples after spending the night in prayer, and begins the sermon on the plain.
Jesus faces off with the religious leaders regarding their interpretation of Moses' Law.
There is no hope for those who reject the only Savior, and resist the Divine Administrator. Judgement and firey indignation are all that can be expected.
The publicans were infamous among the Jews, and the Pharisees and Scribes were incensed that Jesus would associate with them.
The Holy Ghost calls to the heart of the sheep; awaking them from the sleep of death and calling them to faith in Christ.
Faith is not something merely hid away in the heart, but is manifested by the actions of those who are possessed by it.
Sin has separated mankind from God, but God gave Christ to remedy sin and reconcile us back to God. Why then are we not recovered?
God calls Joshua to step into the role vacated by Moses' death, and lead the people into the promised land. Christ has led us through the Jordan of repentance, and now we should war by His grace to conquer our flesh.
Jesus uses Peter's fishing ship as a pulpit to preach the gospel, and then calls the fishermen to preach.
Satan steps out from behind the curtain to tempt Jesus to sin. We get a brief glimpse of his subtle attacks, and Jesus's rebuttal of each with the scriptures.
The Father and the Spirit bear witness to Jesus at his baptism, and Jesus's lineage fulfills all the Old Testament promises.
John the Baptist is moved by the Holy Spirit to begin his ministry. He preaches the gospel of repentance, fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies, and pointing all men to Christ.
Joseph, Mary and Jesus make the trip to Jerusalem for the Passover. Jesus tarries behind at the Temple, talking with the doctors and lawyers about the scriptures.
Christ suffered the reproach, affliction and death outside the camp for our sanctification. Let us follow him without the camp, bearing Christ's reproach in this world.
The Lord entrusts parents with the natural and spiritual well-being of their children, and we have a short time to direct them. Let us do all that we can to point them to the Lord, and trust God's providence with the rest.
Joseph and Mary take Jesus to the temple to be circumcised, and meet Simeon and Anna by the leadership of the Holy Ghost.
Greatness in this world is measured by personal accomplishments and social status. This is reversed in the kingdom of God, and the servant is the greatest.
God has prepared an eternal marriage feast for all believers in heaven. Invitations to this feast are sent out through the gospel, and all who respond to the call may attend.
God is not merely a savior from sin. He is also a loving Father to his children; watching over them, protecting them, providing for them, and lifting them up when they fall. God's mercy and grace are with us throughout this life, and will be with us in eternity.
The Old Testament law was glorious, but only diagnosed mankind's sinfulness. The glory of the New Testament gospel far exceeds the glory of the law; in that it writes the law on hearts, and transforms lives by it's power.
God calls ministers to spread knowledge of Christ Jesus, and likens it to a fragrance. The gospel fills the room like a delicious aroma, and gives hearts a desire to taste the goodness of Christ.
The greatness of the grace of God cannot be overstated. God calls man to repentance, and promises to forgive all their iniquity, even that which man would never forgive. Those foolish enough to scoff at God's mercy will face God's wrath in judgement.
The Lord tests what is in our hearts in many ways to prove whether our professions are true, or to make genuine faith grow.
Our behavior effects the opinion of those around us. The church may discredit the Gospel if their lives are not in order with the Word.
Jesus's last discourse with the Disciples includes the exhortation to spread this Gospel to all nations, and baptize those which believe. Are we on mission today?
2/9/25 - The Cross of Christ was necessary to cleanse our sins, establish our righteousness, receive the indwelling Holy Ghost, and give us a home in heaven.
2/2/25 - We have made a deposit with God, trusting Him to keep our soul until the day of redemption. In return, God made a deposit with us, entrusting us, as a steward, to share the gift with those around us.
2/2/25 - God has given the law, not as a measuring stick of righteousness, but to reveal the iniquity of us all.
1/19/25 - God, as one would teach a child, has revealed His judgement to come, and instructed us in the way of escape. If we do not respond to His word, we will be swept away in judgement.
1/15/25 - God brings trials to us for correction and growth, that we may become more like the Lord Jesus in our thinking and behavior.
Christ's return is certain, guaranteed by God the Father when Jesus was resurrected. Let the knowledge of His return remain in the forefront of our minds, that we may watch and be sober.
The redemption offered by Christ is complete, and no further work is required for our righteousness.
God delivered sinners from darkness and translated them into the Kingdom of His Son. Through the Gospel, Christ the head of all things dwells inside believers.
Christ is the head of all creation, principality, power, nation, and is the head of the Church.
12/4/24 - Luke introduces his Gospel and purpose. We then meet Zacharias the Priest and Elisabeth.
9/22/24 - Martha, Mary and all the Jews wonder where Jesus was, and why He did not cure Lazarus before his death.
9/15/25 - How the Grace of God in salvation is reflected in the behavior of the recipients.
9/8/24 - Those who live by the beatitudes cannot hide the radical change of God from those around us. Let us be strengthened in the inward man, and let our light shine forth.
8/18/24 - Jesus is making His last journey to Jerusalem, where He will be crucified. On the way, He passes through Jericho and encounters blind Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus. They both do all they can, and Jesus calls them unto Himself.
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ fulfilled the righteousness of the law, and removed the veil from the Holiest of all. We now have access without fear into the presence of God.
8/11/24 - James addresses the issue of professing Faith without an accompanying change of life. Is it possible to have Saving Faith and no works afterward?
7/28/24 - Salvation is a work of God that alters the inward desires and the outward behavior.
7/28/24 - The Apostle's preaching was not with great eloquence, nor of persuasive words of man's wisdom. Instead he presented the scriptural evidence of Christ and allowed the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
7/3/24 - The world is alluring to our flesh, and has an image of satisfaction and happiness, but it is a lie. Only is Christ is true Godliness and contentment.
6/30/24 - Christ's purpose in death was to sanctify, cleanse and build a church. The church (or family) of Christ is presently split; many have went on to be with the Lord, and we are alive and remain in this present world. What duties has Christ left us to carry out while we are in this world.
6/9/24 - As Joseph turns up the heat on his brothers, Judah reveals the spiritual change that has taken place in his heart. He is willing to remain in Egypt as a servant so that Benjamin may return home to Jacob.
5/12/24 - Samson was a strong willed and rebellious man that was humbled by his suffering. Christ was meek and lowly, and humbled himself to suffering.
4/28/24 - God has exalted Christ above all power in Heaven and Earth. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Christ is the Lord.
4/17/24 - Saving Faith is sufficient for all our needs in this life. Let us take the Faith given to us, and labor with it.
4/7/24 - We are called to suffering and comfort for the good of the brethren, as Christ suffered for our sakes.
3/24/24 - The inward struggle of the flesh and Spirit, and victory in the Grace of God.
3/17/24 - Christ expounds further on the parable of the sheep, revealing that He is not only the shepherd calling out His sheep, but is also the door.

3/10/24 - Jesus first miracle reveals the reformation His life and death will bring to the Jewish religion, and the transformation that occurs in redeemed sinners.
2/28/24 - All in the body of Christ receive the same salvation, but not all have the same office.
2/25/24 - The foreordination and providence of God provided a wife for Isaac, and a bride for Jesus Christ.
2/21/24 - Our trust in a sovereign and loving heavenly Father is the cure for fear and anxiety.

1/7/24 - As the church views God's love towards them, we should be motivated to show the same love to others.
1/7/24 - The woman with the issue of blood is healed by touching the hem of Jesus garment.
12/31/23 - Jesus teaching and mighty works created a division among the Jews in Jerusalem. Some believing, and others denying his authority.
12/29/23 - End of Year service from Glady Baptist Church. The final plague and Passover lamb were types and shadows of the great deliverance Christ would accomplish for the Israel of God.
12/17/23 - Jesus's brothers display their disbelief, and Jesus travels to the Feast of the Tabernacles in Jerusalem.
12/10/23 - Jesus prepares his disciples for future suffering by reminding them that they are not above their master, and that the Father is in control of all things.
12/3/23 - After the multitude turns away from Christ, he asks his disciples if they will also go away.
11/26/23 - The Elder brother is angry at the Father because of the celebration of the Prodigal's return.
11/5/23 - Christ teaches the trinitarian view of salvation: God gives to the Son, the Son ransoms them through death, and the Spirit draws them to the Son.
10/29/23 - Jesus continues his Bread of Life discourse with the Jews by beginning to reveal the cause of faith in believers, and unbelief in the rest.
10/22/23 - Jesus walks to his disciples on the sea of Galilee, and begins his Bread of Life discourse with the Jews in Capernaum.
10/8/23 - John writes of another convincing work of Jesus, feeding 5000 men, plus women and children, with only five loaves and two fishes.
10/1/23 - God has placed us in His love, the man Jesus Christ. In Christ we have victory over the world, no fear of judgement, and all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
10/1/23 - Jesus's words are not the only evidence we have to prove His deity. God provided us with a great cloud of witnesses.
9/24/23 - Contrasting the resurrection of eternal life to the resurrection of eternal damnation throughout the scriptures.
9/10/23 - Our faith in Jesus Christ is all that is necessary for our justification and righteousness. Peter encourages believers in this truth, and pushes us to grow in our likeness to Christ while we live our days in this world.
9/17/23 - God the Father, and Jesus are proven to be one in the first and second resurrection.
9/10/23 - Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven and its overcoming nature with leaven overcoming a lump of dough.
9/3/23 - Jesus explains his oneness with the Father. The two are so aligned that they cannot be separated.
8/27/23 - Jesus comes to the pool of Bethesda and heals a man with an infirmity for 38 years. This would begin a controversy between the Jews and Jesus over the Sabbath day.
8/13/23 - Jesus heals the nobleman's son without signs and wonders. The nobleman leaves Jesus presence by Faith alone in the Word of Christ.
8/6/23 - How easy it is for us to forget all God's goodness upon us, and trust in our own beauty.
7/30/23 - The Samaritan woman returns to her city, giving testimony of the one who told her all things she had done. The men of the city believe her words, and go out to see Jesus.
7/23/23 - Jesus reveals that he is the Messiah to the Samaritan woman, and she runs back to the city, calling everyone to come see the one who told her all she ever did.
7/9/23 - Jesus Christ, our great High Priest, has completed the plan of God and brought us eternal salvation.
7/2/23 - Jesus has left the land of Judea and a discourse with Nicodemus, and has came to Samaria for a discourse with an adulterous woman.
6/18/23 - John the Baptist is questioned by his disciples, and he once again points them to Christ Jesus.
6/4/23 - Redemption is more than deliverance from the wrath of God. We are also made free from sin and Satan. Sin no longer has dominion over the church, therefore let us yield our members to the service of Christ.
6/4/23 - Christ was delivered up by God himself as payment for our transgressions, and raised again by God himself to declare our acquittal. In Christ we have peace with God and assurance of deliverance.
5/21/23 - Jesus further reveals the new birth that comes by faith alone, in Christ alone.
5/14/23 - Jesus explains to Nicodemus that a work of God is required in order for a man to enter into or see the Kingdom of God.
5/7/23 - Jesus cleanses the Temple and makes the first prophecy of His resurrection. Many believe in His name because of the miracles, but their belief is not genuine.
4/30/23 - Jesus transforms water into wine, and the obedience of the servants deliver it unto the governor of the wedding.
4/23/23 - Jesus first miracle points to the removal of the Old Testament ceremonies for the newness of Life in the Kingdom of God.
4/16/23 - Jesus finds and calls Phillip, who in turn finds Nathanael. Jesus proves his deity to Nathanael by reading his heart.
4/2/23 - John answers the question of the Pharisees by revealing the Messiah to be present on the earth at that time, and the next day points directly to Jesus as the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.
3/26/23 - Finishing the prologue in verse 18, the Apostle begins the narrative with the witness of John the Baptist.
3/19/23 - The eternal, all powerful creator of all things is made to be flesh and live on earth among men.
3/12/23 - There was a sweeping rejection of Christ throughout the Gentile and Jewish world. However, there was a remnant that came to him in Faith.
3/5/23 - John begins with the ministry of John the Baptist. A man sent from God to bear witness of the Light.
2/26/23 - After a brief introduction to the gospel of John, we begin with the simple yet profound words of the Prologue of the Gospel of John.
2/24/23 - The scriptures have clearly revealed the fallen and corrupt state of mankind, and their inability to come to God on their own. We are left looking for the root cause of salvation. Do we all receive equal grace and repentance is left to the will of man? or does saving grace come by an effectual call to the church?

1/22/23 - Paul had preached the Gospel in all of the regions around Israel, fulfilling the Ministry God had given him in that area. Paul's desire now was to deliver the collection to Jerusalem, then travel to Spain to further spread the Gospel of Christ.
1/15/22 - Paul wrote the letter to the Romans to encourage and establish the church by reminding them of the work of God in their lives, and the holy scriptures.
1/8/23 - From the beginning God planned to save people from every tongue, race, tribe and nation under heaven and make them one nation in Christ Jesus.
Mankind is unable to see the kingdom of God because of the fall. His corrupt nature and mind are blind to spiritual things. In order for a person to understand God, God must first regenerate their mind.
1/1/23 - Christ is the sole source of righteousness in the world. The deeds and manners of the flesh have no force in the sight of God for justification. Those who are righteous before God are only those made new creatures by the operation of God in their heart.
12/30/22 - God has chosen the foolishness of preaching as the means to call His church out of the world. God's plan excluded any merit or wisdom of man, leaving only His goodness and grace for the church to glory in.
12/25/22 - God's plan from before the foundation of the world was to build a church, a community of believers bound together by the Holy Spirit.
12/18/22 - The strong ought to use their strength in Christ to assist the weak, as Christ submitted himself to lift the burden of sin from us.
12/11/22 - Faith, hope, and charity are three of the foundational elements of salvation given from God. God persuaded us, anchored us and gave us His love through Christ Jesus and by the Holy Spirit.
12/4/22 - The worship and service of God is not in religious ceremonies of the flesh. God is a Spirit, and must be worshipped in the Spirit.
11/27/22 - Instead of judging or disesteeming one another, God calls us to walk charitably towards on another. Exhorting us to walk after that which is good to edification of the body
11/20/22 - The knowledge of a continual present judgement at Christ's feet continues the thought of accountability to Christ even further. All the body answers to Christ as Master.
11/6/22 - Those that are weak in the faith are not to judge the strong, neither are the strong in the faith to disesteem the weak.
10/30/22 - Satan uses the cares of this life and the gain of this world to slowly cool our first love towards Christ. Jesus exhorts us to remember from whence we have fallen and repent.

10/2/22 - Christians should never seek vengeance for themselves, knowing that God, the righteous judge of all, is their Father. God can be trusted to serve justice, and He does not need our help to serve it.
9/18/22 - Manifold exhortations for the Christian life, that we may be fervent in Spirit.
9/11/22 - Christ Jesus not only raises Lazarus from the dead, but reverses the corruption and decay of his body, before a multitude of witnesses.
9/4/22 - First, God brings mankind to the knowledge of sin and hopelessness of their condition by the law. After which God manifests His righteousness freely given to man through the atoning death of Christ Jesus.
8/28/22 - Christ has delivered us from the accusations of Satan and cast him out of the heavenly place. Satan now resides in the earthly man and is working to persecute the Church of Christ.
8/28/22 - Jesus and his Disciples pass a man born blind as they leave the temple. Jesus heals this man to prove that he is indeed the light of the world.
8/21/22 - The Church is exhorted to use the gifts which God has distributed unto them, and are called to a sincere love one for another.
8/14/22 - King David and Israel's collection for the building of the temple was an impressive sum. However, David did not boast in the work performed by man, but instead thanked God for giving them everything and enabling them to take up such a collection.
8/14/22 - Jesus tells the multitudes where their affections must be in order to be a disciple. He insists they count the cost to discover what is in their heart: either a vain profession of faith, or a faith that has possessed them.
8/7/22 - God through Christ is building the Church, and hath dealt to the church gifts according to His will.
7/31/22 - The Apostle begins the practical portion of the letter by showing those who are purchased by the Grace of God are then obligated to present their bodies unto God for His glory.
7/17/22 - Christ did not do away with the law in order for us to be justified. It was our sins that were washed away by the atoning death of Christ. Therefore, the law is still in place and has the same authority as when Moses received it.
7/10/22 - The disciples disputed among themselves who was the greatest in the Kingdom. The debate reached a point in which they asked Jesus who was the greatest. Jesus corrected the disciples earthly thinking, revealing the true nature of the Kingdom.
7/3/22 - The Old Testament patriarchs and prophets desired to understand, and the angels desire to look into the salvation which has been delivered unto us. God did not reveal it fully unto them, but God has revealed unto us by the Spirit of God.
7/6/22 - After Peters great confession of faith, Christ begins to reveal His true purpose of coming to earth. Jesus's revelation of His suffering and death troubles the disciples, and they cannot bear the thought of it. Christ rebukes their reasoning, showing them their cares were focused on the present, and no the eternal.
7/3/22 - Joshua was the High Priest, but found himself unable to serve God because of iniquity. God rebukes the devil, removes his iniquity from him, and puts a clean robe upon him. Both justifying him and sanctifying him for the work of the tabernacle.
6/29/22 - Why do the heathen rage against God who cannot be moved? What advantage does rebellion bring when the authority cannot be changed? God calls us to be circumspect and kiss the Son, lest we face His wrath in judgement.

8/29/21 - The law is not our ally. It lays out the perfect righteousness of God which cannot be kept, and demands judgment against breakers of its contents. All of man was both condemned by the law, and held under its judgement unto death. Our state under the law was hopeless, and God sent forth His Son to be our substitute in judgement, dying in our place and completing our obligation to the law. Does all this mean the law is sin? Nay, because we were sinners and guilty towards God before the law was given. 4/21/21 - The day of atonement was the only day of the year the High Priest was allowed access to the Holiest place where God's presence dwelled. It was a day of great fear and carefulness for the man tasked with going before God. Thankfully this day was fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ, and through His perfect sacrifice we have access with boldness into the presence of God.

4/18/21 - The doctrine of Sin being forgiven by God's grace is not only a New Testament Doctrine. But Moses and David (and others) wrote of God's great mercy in forgiving sin and transgressions by Grace alone. If God marks iniquity, who can stand?

4/14/21 - The Blowing of Trumpets is the first Holy day in the second group of feasts which took place the first day of the seventh month. Often the blowing of trumpets is associated with the last trumpet at the second advent of Christ, but there is a better interpretation which fits our lives today. The gospel sounds out in these last days, calling attention to our sin and pointing us toward God's ultimate means of atonement, Christ Jesus.
