Before Carlie was even in highschool she was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called Moyamoya. To simplify, it is caused when arteries at the base of brain are blocked. This can lead to increased chance of stroke as well as many other potential issues. Carlie explains in depth her journey through the multiple tests, surgeries, and hospitilizations, that ultimately led to the procedure that ended up allowing her to live the life she has today.
