Clay has a new single out and it was written by Toby Keith!Bio:

There’s more to the duality of Clay Walker’s debut Show Dog Nashville album Texas To Tennessee than the title. Certainly, the realities of place are as central as this comeback album’s name implies: Nashville busily working toward the next fresh hit; Texas moving at its inimitable and familiar pace. There’s also a mix of songwriting and production approaches, evident and more nuanced relationships between the songs themselves, and the overarching presence of a naturally gifted vocalist who relentlessly pursues his own development as a singer. But don’t mistake those dualities for dichotomy – and certainly not polarity. In a storied career dotted with smash singles, platinum albums and countless honors and acclaim, maybe the connection between country’s timeless themes and music-of-the-moment timeliness has been there all along.

Many of the country fans behind the almost 20 million on-demand and video streams for his latest single “Need A Bar Sometimes” – who may also be among his 750,000 TikTok followers – are wholly unaware of Walker’s history. Discovered in a Beaumont area bar by noted producer and head of Giant Records James Stroud (Toby Keith, Tracy Lawrence, Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers), Walker was in his early twenties when he started rattling off a string of smash hits. Among them, “Live Until I Die,” “Dreaming With My Eyes Open,” “This Woman And This Man,” “Hypnotize The Moon,” “Rumor Has It,” “Then What,” “I Can’t Sleep” and “She Won’t Be Lonely Long.” His self-titled debut album rocketed to platinum status, the first of four to cross the million-sold mark. Racking up more than 30 charted singles and 11 No. 1s!

The Frontmen features three singers who were THE voices of three of the top country bands of the '90s: Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar, Tim Rushlow, formerly of Little Texas, and Larry Stewart of Restless Heart. From their rave review performances around the globe for our troops, to casinos, fairs and corporate events, to their globally televised performance on the steps of the hallowed Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, The Frontmen are making their mark on the country music scene. Stewart, Rushlow and McDonald have collectively sold over 30 million records and had over 30 major hits between them. They have a chemistry and brotherhood seldom matched, and they have logged the travel miles to prove it, wowing audiences around the globe with their brand of highly successful intimate unplugged shows. Powerhouse hits performed by The Frontmen include Restless Heart classics, “The Bluest Eyes in Texas,” “That Rock Won’t Roll,” “I’ll Still Be Loving You” and “Why Does It Have to Be (Wrong or Right)." Lonestar smashes such as “Amazed,” “Front Porch Looking In,” and “I’m Already There,” plus Little Texas hits including “God Blessed Texas,” “Amy’s Back in Austin,” and “What Might Have Been.” These songs and many others included in their shows are the soundtrack of a generation. With their combined vocal and instrumental talents, The Frontmen deliver a high-energy show packed with fan-favorites from their three award-winning and critically acclaimed bands. The Frontmen’s debut self-titled album, THE FRONTMEN (available via BBR Music Group / BMG Nashville), brings the three iconic voices to the forefront for the first time. The twelve-track album, produced by two-time GRAMMY-nominated Mickey Jack Cones, features nine original songs, as well as three Lonestar, Little Texas and Restless Heart No. 1 hits, re-recorded Frontmen-style. The trio tag team lead vocals throughout. www.thefrontmenlive.com

After graduating from high school, Sylvia headed to Nashville. She arrived in Music City with a plan: get a day job in the music industry; learn about the music business, and work on getting a recording contract. Sylvia got a job at Pi-Gem Music, which was then one of Nashville’s hottest publishing companies. Pi-Gem was run by Tom Collins (who produced acts like Barbara Mandrell and Ronnie Milsap) and featured a stable of top songwriters, including Dean Dillon and the Grammy-nominated duo Kye Fleming & Dennis Morgan. She spent 4 ½ years at Pi-Gem Music – answering phones, running errands, making coffee, singing song demos, and hanging out with those people every day. “What a magical thing that I happened to get a job working there!” Sylvia states.

After hearing Sylvia sing at an audition, RCA offered her a recording deal. Sylvia’s first two singles snuck into Billboard’s Country Top 40; however, in those days, your label would likely drop you if one of your first three singles didn’t crack the Top 10. Fortunately, her third single, “Tumbleweed,” reached #10 and her fourth, “Drifter,” went all the way to #1. Sylvia’s successful singles led to her debut album, Drifter, which peaked at #10 on Billboard’s Country charts in 1981. Her follow-up, the Just Sylvia album, reached #2, and contained her chart-topping, two-million-selling crossover hit, “Nobody.” The song was BMI’s Country Song of the Year for most radio airplay in 1982 and helped Sylvia be named Academy of Country Music's "Female Vocalist of the Year" and Billboard’s #1 Country Artist, as well as earning a Grammy nomination for "Best Female Vocalist." Sylvia released three more albums on RCA, which yielded a half dozen Top 10 Country singles.

When country music lovers talk about the greatest groups in the genre, Shenandoah is always at the forefront of anydiscussion. Fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, Shenandoah becamewell known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Nextto Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy-winning“Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss. As the daughter of Country Music Royalty, Pam Tillis was determined from a young age to find her own way in music as a singer and songwriter. After many false starts with her own recording career, including a pop single on Elektra and 1984’s “Above And Beyond The Doll Of Cutey” for Warner Brothers, Tillis came to the attention of Tim Dubois who headed up the Nashville office of Arista records. After much soul searching, Tillis made the commitment to make an honest country record. The album “Put Yourself In My Place” yielded 2 number ones, 2 top five singles, and one top twenty hits and in its first year the album was certified gold. Tillis followed with 3 platinum albums on Arista “Homeward Looking Angel” in 1992, “Sweethearts Dance” in 1994 and an Arista “Greatest Hits” in 1997. Tillis achieved 6 number 1 songs during this time including “Shake the Sugar Tree”, “Mi Vida Loca”, “When You Walk In The Room”, “In Between Dances” “Don’t Tell Me What To Do” and “Maybe It Was Memphis” while 14 of Pam’s other singles landed in the top ten and top twenty.https://pamtillis.com/https://throwbackcountrymusic.com/Hit "Follow" our show wherever you get your podcasts and "Subscribe" to our YouTube channel which is https://www.youtube.com/@throwbackcountrymusicHelp our show grow! From Wade:“The determining factor was when I was 22 years-old. I’d been through four years of college and changed my major twice. I was only doing it because I thought that’s what I was supposed to do,” says Hayes. “I was watching the CMA Awards, and Ricky Skaggs came on and said that all the young artists out there struggling should stick with it, because that’s what they’re called to do. It literally hit me like a ton of bricks, because I was looking for direction, and I had my eyes and ears wide open. It felt like he was speaking to me. I was praying for direction and guidance, and I felt like that was it. The very next day, I started making preparations to move to Nashville.”

Join me as I chat with country music traditionalist, Jason Byrd. He has a brand new song out with 90s Country Icon, @BillyDeanMusic and it's an old #keithwhitley song "New Kid in Town". So good!! He also shares some really cool stories of his friendship with Country Music Legend, George Jones and his wife, Nancy. You're in for a real treat today, folks! Be sure to give him a follow on his socials and listen to his music. If you're a fan of timeless country sounds, then go no further than Mr. Jason Byrd!

Jason's Bio:

Jason Byrd was just 19 years old when he followed in his family’s footsteps and became a fireman. But there was another fire that burned within him, and that was music. In the early nineties, Byrd found himself balancing a career in the fire department with a career in Music City, traveling the 490 miles each way with the determination to make both of his dreams come true. Yet, in many ways, it wasn’t until the day that Byrd met the legendary George Jones that the trajectory of his entire career forever changed. Soon, small gigs at local bars and honkytonks turned into major opportunities on stages across the country, opening for powerhouse artists such as Tracy Lawrence, Loretta Lynn, and Dierks Bentley.

In the summer of 2019, Byrd made the decision to retire from his position as the Battalion Chief of the Tallahassee Fire Department. But his musical story was far from over. Byrd recently made the decision to finally resurrect an unreleased song he and Jones had worked on together many years ago, a song that is now his soon-to-be-released single “Better Life.”

“Giving the world the chance to hear something that George Jones recorded that nobody’s ever heard before has never been more important to me as it is right now. The fact is that true country music fans are starving for this kind of traditional country music….my kind of country music.”

Do you remember the classic Billy Dean hit "I Miss Billy The Kid"? It has always been one of my favorites. I had the pleasure of talking to Billy about his success, songwriting, and even which presidential candidate he is currently writing a theme song for. Billy is an incredibly talented artist, and during the show, he even played his Billboard single "Only the Wind". I have always been a huge fan, and now I am an even bigger one! Listen to Billy's latest album, "The Rest of It's Mine" and his latest Christmas single, "New Kid in Town" with country music singer, Jason Byrd wherever you listen to music!

After her show in Georgia, Lorrie Morgan sat down with me for a one-on-one interview. We had a great time and shared plenty of laughs! At the end, I jokingly asked her to act like we were "buddies" which was hilarious! It was so much fun! Throughout the 3-part interview, Lorrie didn't hold back and shared some great memories. She spoke about her late-night phone conversations with Joe Diffie and Daryle Singletary, no matter where they were in the country. She also talked about her "smoking" buddies from back in the day. This interview is a must-listen for any country music fan from the 90s!

Don't forget to check out Lorrie's new podcast, "War Paint with Lorrie Morgan!" It's amazing! You can find more information and tour dates for Lorrie on her website and social media pages.

One of the most masterful voices in Country Music today, GENE WATSON still sings in the same key as 30 years ago and continues to prove why he is rightly referred to as “The Singer’s Singer”. His powerful voice and multi-octave range allows him to sing some of the most challenging songs with an ease that comes from pure, natural talent as well as from his many years performing onstage.

For more than 20 years, BlackHawk has shared a unique sense of harmony with their voices, their songs and their fans. It’s a harmony that has sold over 7 million albums, scored some of the most distinctive country radio hits of the ‘90s, and still draws tens of thousands of fans to their electrifying live performances. Today BlackHawk continues to honor its past as it forges its future, and does it all with a commitment that takes their music – and the harmony – to a whole new level.

“When we started,” says BlackHawk co-founder & lead vocalist Henry Paul, “our individual careers as writers and performers gave us somewhat of a more creative sensibility. We were three guys whose goal was to approach country with smart songs and unique harmonies for people who may not automatically like country.” Paul had previously co-founded Southern Rock legends The Outlaws, as well as leading the popular ‘80s rockers The Henry Paul Band. Van Stephenson had mainstream pop success as an ‘80s singer-songwriter-guitarist (“Modern Day Delilah”). And Dave Robbins had written hits for Eric Clapton and Kenny Rogers while partnering with Stephenson to write a series of classic #1 hits for Restless Heart, including “The Bluest Eyes In Texas” and “Big Dreams In A Small Town”.

“Even though the three of us had a love and appreciation for traditional country music,” says Dave, “we knew we weren’t going to be that. Henry was coming from Southern Rock, Van & I were in Nashville, but were writing country songs with pop sensibilities. When it came to our vocals, we wanted the three of us to be up front in the choruses like Crosby, Stills & Nash or The Eagles. What set us apart from the very beginning musically was being true to who we were individually.”

BlackHawk’s 1993 self-titled Arista debut album launched with the smash single “Goodbye Says It All”, followed by the Top 5 hits "Every Once in a While", "I Sure Can Smell the Rain", "Down in Flames" and "That's Just About Right". The album soon certified Double-Platinum, and the band received an ACM nomination as Best New Vocal Group Of The Year. BlackHawk followed up with the hit albums Strong Enough, Love & Gravity and Sky’s The Limit, which collectively featured such hits as “I’m Not Strong Enough To Say No”, “Like There Ain’t No Yesterday”, “Big Guitar”, “Almost A Memory Now”, “There You Have It” and “Postmarked Birmingham”. It was an unprecedented run of hits for a band that never quite fit the standard country mold. “Getting a BlackHawk record on the radio was often a tough sell,” explains Henry, “for the same reason country radio rejected bands like The Mavericks, The Dixie Chicks and Alison Krauss. But we were committed to smart, strong songs whether they fit the format or not. And the fans responded.”

“It feels a little bit like a dream.”

That was the first thing said by Bryan White, who is blessed to have experienced life-changing success as a country music superstar in the 1990’s, when asked about what is currently happening on the other side of the world with his career. “God Gave Me You,” a song White originally released back in 1999, has been a massive hit in the Philippines for the past year.

The song caught on in the Philippines in 2011, but became something of a phenomenon last year when Maine Mendoza, also known as Yaya Dub, and Alden Richards chose “God Gave Me You” as the theme song for their wildly popular variety show “Eat Bulaga.”

White noticed some international activity on his various social media platforms – Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – and then there were “millions upon millions of YouTube views on the song.” Fans had made lyric videos and one in particular has over 33 million views.

Then a friend called to say he was in Manila and heard the song playing on the radio.

The Oklahoma native wasn’t exactly sure about what was unfolding – “your first thought is, ‘seriously?’” – but he recorded a 90-second video message thanking his newfound fan base for their support. It wasn’t until his first trip there in December 2015 that he truly understood the scope of impact “God Gave Me You” was having in the Philippines and other Asian countries.

“It’s just one of those moments where everything lined up,” said White, who described the culture as extremely humble and kind. He suspects the lyrics, which he describes as a message of humility, resonates with the extremely loving culture of the Philippines. “I think it hit people in a way that was very primal.”

He added, “When I stepped off the plane, I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is real.’ It was an emotional trip for me. I wanted very much to make a good first impression and start building something.”

That something is as big as he’s ever experienced.

Wherever she performs, Carlene knows that she is doing her part to honor those who came before her, in her own way. "From the day I first touched a guitar or piano," she recalls, "my mom said, 'You have to carry on the legacy of the Carter Family music. It's supposed to be passed on and passed around.'" Nearly a century after their first recordings changed the course of American music, that circle remains unbroken by Carlene Carter.

With romantically charged #1 hits like “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” and “If I Didn’t Have You,” multi-platinum international success, and honors as Vocal Duo of the Year from both the ACM and CMA Awards, Country duo Thompson Square admit they don’t have much left on their bucket list.

So for the husband-and-wife team of Keifer and Shawna Thompson, the next chapter of their career is about something different.

“This album is called Masterpiece, and the definition of a masterpiece is an artist’s life’s work,” Keifer explains, hinting at the creative satisfaction behind the duo’s third studio album. “When we’re 80 years old and we look back, we want to be able to say we’re really proud of all the stuff we did.”

Working independently for the first time, Masterpiece arrives at a tipping-point moment for the duo – and it finds them taking skillful control of their acclaimed musical bond.

Restless Heart lead singer Larry Stewart can remember the exact moment and place his life began to change forever.

“I was driving east on I-40 from West Nashville into town to an appointment,” he recalls. “Back then, I was listening to what we were doing in my Jeep Cherokee every day. I had turned the radio on, and ‘Let The Heartache Ride’ was right in the middle of the acapella intro.”

Stewart had been living with the song for a while, and hearing it through his car speakers wasn’t that big of a deal – until he looked at the stereo and saw the numbers 97.9. “It didn’t sink in because I had it in the tape deck for days, then I realized ‘That’s the radio. It’s WSIX.’ I pulled over on the shoulder around White Bridge Road and sat there with my car idling. It was like yesterday.”

‘Yesterday’ has come full circle for Restless Heart. Then one of Nashville’s newest acts, the band is celebrating their 30th Anniversary in 2013, and Dave Innis enjoys the musical ride as much as ever.

“I think it’s been an amazing legacy, and it’s been such an honor to have been part of an organization that is still together doing it after thirty years with the same five original guys, and it’s more fun than ever.”

John Dittrich, Greg Jennings, Paul Gregg, Dave Innis, and Larry Stewart – the men who make up Restless Heart have enjoyed one of the most successful careers in Country Music history, placing over 25 singles on the charts – with six consecutive #1 hits, four of their albums have been certified Gold by the RIAA, and they have won a wide range of awards from many organizations – including the Academy of Country Music’s Top Vocal Group trophy. Those stats aside, Innis feels that their career goes much deeper than that.

“In the past few years, we have really started to branch out in the community, particularly our work with the Nashville Rescue Mission. We have hosted an event called Restless Heart & Friends – Music With A Mission that we do at the Schermerhorn Center with the Nashville Symphony. We invite a lot of our friends in the industry across all genres to join us, and all of the money we raise goes to the Nashville Rescue Mission. The other thing that stands out is the tours we have done in support of the men and women of the Armed Forces. We did some tours with the Air Force, going all over the world.”

Those audiences have sung along with their record-shattering string of hits, such as “I’ll Still Be Loving You,” “Fast Movin’ Train” and “When She Cries.” Stewart says it’s humbling to know Restless Heart has made an impact. “I’m proud of the fact that we get to hear stories from young artists and musicians that we might have made an impression or inspiring them to come to town – having number one records, and hearing the stories of what they meant to people. To know that you have been a part of something that made a difference, the power of music, the power of a song. To be a part of something that made a mark. However big or small of a mark Restless Heart made, it’s still a mark. To be able to appreciate and feel blessed that we got lucky enough to get together. I feel like it was something that was meant to be.”

And, the story is far from over, as Stewart says Restless Heart still has a lot of history to make. “We are still at the top of our game when it comes to singing and playing together. We’ve got some projects we’re working on, and we want to put the Restless Heart brand out to music fans again – to let them know we’re still here and making good music. We’re really looking forward, not trying to rest on our past laurels, we really want to do some new music. We have some fun things we’re considering to celebrate the moment, which we’re trying to put together, and reintroduce ourselves to the world, and take another stab at something.”
