Bristol based Simon is one half of 'The Back Room’ alongside Luke Stereo, an ever popular night which explores the eclectic side of dance music. The Back Room in 2019 alone played Glastonbury; Shindig Weekender; Tokyo World and Boomtown as well as hosting their own nights in a number of venues.
Amidst his busy schedule, Simon has become a pillar of Cardiff based Newcitysound Recordings for over 15 years alongside maintaining a residency at Empathy - one of Bristol’s longest running nights. He has played sets alongside the likes of Jody Wisternoff, Danny Howells, Rui DaSilva and Bushwacka in the past year or so.
A foray into production saw a debut release in 2019 with Beatport chart success and then being re-signed to a significant label, with a number of tracks and edits released since.
Soundcloud hosts Simon’s set recordings and mixes with over 80,000 listens to date and growing - with each of his Deeper Groove mix series now attracting 6,000 listens across the globe.

Having emerged in the noughties as a founder of the Nottingham based collective Neon Heights, Secret Soul Society marked a return to music making after a ten year hiatus in 2019: with well-received releases on labels such as Hell Yeah! recordings, Paper Recordings, Citizens of Vice, Rare Wiri and Magic Wand. He also presents on Loose FM and writes for Banbantonton and has spent the last 17 years as an independent advocate advocating for some of the most vulnerable members of our society such as people who lack capacity due to dementia, brain injuries, learning disabilities and mental health issues. Saturday’s coming up fast and I’ll be honest, there are a few butterflies kicking in ahead of our first ever Station 2 Station show at Acid Chancers at The Social.I’ll be joined by Simon Lloyd and we’re opening the day from 4pm. It’s a two-room setup in London, so there’s plenty going on across the building from early doors. We’re also kicking things off the following weekend in Margate at Evil Plans on Saturday 11th, so it’s a big couple of weeks for us getting this project out properly.If you’re heading down this Saturday, it’s definitely worth getting in early. This week's mix, number 19, brings a kaleidoscope of sounds - sewn perfectly together.You can donate as little as £1 towards Talk Club:https://www.justgiving.com/page/speakupanddanceBio, we've taken the very best bits from Gez's interview 'Credit to the Edit':Dewar is far from a newcomer – as his Bandcamp bio points out, he’s been “arming the troops with weapons since 1990”. After landing a job at the now defunct entertainment conglomerate Thorn EMI straight out of art college, he moved to MTV Europe for its launch in 1987, got involved in the nascent rave scene and – with his live techno group Doi-Oing – was the first act signed to Ministry of Sound.“We didn’t really know what we’re doing,” he admits, “and obviously the acts that did go on to do really well, like Underworld and Orbital and people like that, had a much stronger sense of where they were going and what they were doing. We did get an album together in the end, but they weren’t really that interested and let us go after a few years.”After that, Dewar forged a successful career making music for major TV commercials and games like Gran Turismo and Offroad Fury, while doing his own music on the side. But remixing and editing other people’s music has been a thread all along, beginning with mashing up music videos into megamixes that were shown across Europe in the heyday of MTV. “I love the idea of taking well-known stuff and twisting it and turning it on its head,” he says. “Really early on, we took Eminem, My Name Is…, and we put it over Fatboy Slim’s Rockefeller Skank: ‘Hi, my name is… the funk-soul brother’.“That just took off – people at MTV went nuts about it and I gave one to Fatboy Slim who used to play it at the start of his show. I got to hear him play it at the Academy in Brixton and I was like, ‘I can die now. This is brilliant’.”It was the advent of stem separation technology in the last five to 10 years, where producers can easily lift a capellas, basslines, drum tracks or anything else they like without searching the darkest corners of the internet for the original stems, that brought Gez to where he is now.“I love the familiar and the new,” he explains. “I suppose it’s a kind of pop art. I think of it a little bit like Warhol, you know, you take these famous things and you reframe them. I just get a huge amount of personal enjoyment out of it.“Also, it’s a kind of homage, I think, to the people that I grew up listening to, getting some of their tracks and repurposing them. I mean, I’m old, and I don’t realise that a lot of people don’t know this stuff. They’ve never heard it. “Some of the tracks are 40 years old, and to be able to bring them to the crowd and repurpose them and make them ready for DJs that are current is great.”Aside from his regular Bandcamp uploads, Gez presents a weekly two-hour radio show called Welcome To The Monkey House, where he showcases his own work and that of his peers, and he was recently tapped to remix Crooked Man for Vicious Charm. Simon Sheldon has been writing, producing, releasing, and performing under many pseudonyms for 30 years plus and is the current head honcho of The Freebooter Lounge which also houses band members Muzka and Dan Dub Lounge. Muzka has been a successful DJ playing in Belfast clubs and bars for three decades mixing an eclectic mix of genres embracing funk, soul, house, dub, hip hop, electro with an anything goes policy. Dan Dub Lounge’ Is a self taught Belfast based producer and musician. R, touring the world as a DJ representing the sounds of the label and mixing TV advertised compilation albums that sold in their hundreds of thousands. Hell, he even appeared on TOTP! He got the job through running a record shop and promoting student raves back at Uni where he was lucky enough to have first dibs on swathese of seminal electronic white labels during the mid-90s. The club promotion continued and Ed lead the charge at legendary Sunday sessions ‘Riot!’ at The End in London where he caused mayhem with the great and the good of clubland. In 2003 he co-founded one of the world’s first MP3 download stores, helping to shape the digital revolution. This innovative thread has continuted throughout his career, and Ed’s helped artist management clients such as Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn and Claptone navigate new platforms and chanels as technology has evolved. More recently he has co-founded Bristol independent venue Lost Horizon and organises Ravers2Runners who have become famous for organising charity runs at festivals such as Glastonbury and Boomtown! Of his walking mix, Ed states; ‘Back in the 90’s I’d often create after hours mixes on cassette for my friends, throwing away genre restrictions and compiling the tracklist by vibe not rules. I loved making this mix for Music For Walking and hope you enjoy some of the weird and wonderful tracks from my collection of vinyl.'

Simon is resident at Empathy - one of Bristol’s longest running nights. He has played sets alongside the likes of Jody Wisternoff, Danny Howells, Rui DaSilva and Bushwacka in the past year or so.
Bristol based Simon is one half of 'The Back Room’ alongside Luke Stereo, an ever popular night which explores the eclectic side of dance music. The Back Room in 2019 alone played Glastonbury; Shindig Weekender; Tokyo World and Boomtown as well as hosting their own nights in a number of venues.
A foray into production saw a debut release in 2019 with Beatport chart success and then being re-signed to a significant label, with an EP planned for release in 2020.
Soundcloud hosts Simon’s set recordings and mixes with over 60,000 listens to date and growing - with each of his Deeper Groove mix series now attracting 4,000 listens across the globe.
