We often ask kids what they want to be when they grow up, but a more impactful question might be WHO do you want to be? And for us adults who have let the world influence our ideas of who we are, sometimes the best thing to ask ourselves is who we want to UNbecome.

In this conversation, Hallie and I reflect on the importance of being present in the moment and the process of “unbecoming” to discover one's true self. We also explore the shift in generational perspectives towards life and work and how our religion or spiritual perspectives influence our views on life.

Takeaways

  • It's not about slowing life down; it's about being present.
  • “Unbecoming” is about shedding layers of identity and ego.
  • Generational shifts are changing perspectives on work and life.
  • Spirituality can be found in various practices, not just religion.
  • Midlife is an opportunity for awakening and reflection.

We delve into what makes up good (thought) leadership and emphasize embracing your own unique perspective to navigate the challenges of life and business with authenticity and self-awareness.

  • Overthinking often stems from a fear of judgment.
  • Thought leadership is about sharing unique perspectives, not just expertise.
  • Leadership is about being true to oneself and one's experiences.
  • Business challenges often mirror personal growth opportunities.
  • Embracing discomfort is part of the entrepreneurial journey.

  • Childhood memories and experiences shape our perspective on vacations and the importance of quality time with family.
  • Reducing reliance on technology can lead to a greater sense of contentment and connection with oneself and others.
  • Setting boundaries with social media can help reduce anxiety and comparison.
  • Parents often face overwhelming stress and pressure to participate in numerous extracurricular activities for their children.

My birthday was a couple of weeks ago, so Hallie and I kick off the conversation by diving into how different people celebrate their birthdays and what that might mean about their perspective on life in general. After all, our level of neutrality can shift and change depending on the situation in front of us—the key is to be aware of it and leverage it appropriately. We wrap up the conversation by talking about entrepreneurship, the gig economy, and the future of work.

Takeaways

  • Inner reflection can reduce the need to attach significance to birthdays or other external events.
  • Neutrality does not mean indifference; it means being aware of one's emotions and experiences without being overly attached to them.
  • Entrepreneurship can be challenging and not everyone will achieve high levels of success, but it offers opportunities for personal growth and freedom.

“Worry is worshiping the problem.” We’re not sure who said it first, but we thought it was well worth sharing and discussing.

This week, we share our personal experiences with anxiety and how we deal with it. We also discuss the pros and cons of motivation and it plays into building a business, diving into the modern day misconception that building a business can be done with minimal hours and work-life balance. Finally, we debate whether remote work is more beneficial or harmful for businesses and employees.

Takeaways

  • How to identify the root of your anxiety and methods for handling it better
  • Motivation can come from external sources, but inspiration needs to come from within
  • Building a business requires dedication, hard work, and long hours
  • Remote work may lead to a loss of productivity and the absence of valuable mentorship opportunities

I attended a funeral this past weekend and it got me reflecting on death (yes, even more so than usual) and how important it is to make peace with our own mortality. In today’s episode, I share some of the conversation I had with my wife’s grandfather just a few days before he passed and explore the difference between happiness (what we think we’re after) and inner peace (what we’re truly searching for).

Takeaways

  • Contemplating death and making peace with our own mortality can lead to valuable insights and a deeper understanding of life.
  • Love should be put into practice in our daily lives, and it is one of the most important aspects of our existence.
  • Inner peace is a state that can be present regardless of external circumstances, while happiness is a fleeting emotion that is often dependent on external factors.

Does "manifestation" really work? Will you make more money or be more successful if you're more spiritual? Possibly! But there's more to it...

While it’s true that getting more in tune with your spiritual self may improve your life from an outward experience, the deeper purpose is to find fulfillment and joy in the present moment. The peace, joy, and happiness you think you’ll experience from making a certain amount of money or accomplishing a certain goal is actually possible without achieving those things! Here’s how…

Takeaways:

  • Spirituality can potentially lead to financial improvement, but the deeper purpose is to find fulfillment and joy in the present moment.
  • Shifting focus from external achievements to inner experiences can bring a sense of lightness and enjoyment in life.
  • Money and external accomplishments may provide temporary satisfaction, but they do not lead to lasting fulfillment.
  • By releasing past experiences and letting go of attachment to outcomes, one can experience more meaning and joy in each moment.
  • The goal is to enjoy life and extract value from every experience, rather than constantly striving for external validation.

It’s important to not just try to get through things to reach the next goal, but rather, honoring and respecting the present moment. Takeaways

  • Auditing our time involves more than just trying to add more time to our schedules; it's about extracting more meaning from the time we have.
  • Instead of wishing time away or constantly seeking the next thing, we should pause and honor the present moment.
  • Having a deep respect for life and recognizing the complexity and beauty of existence can bring a sense of fulfillment and enjoyment.
  • Measuring our days in minutes and extracting more from each minute allows us to experience a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.

There is a seemingly never-ending amount of literature out there about the power of the perfect morning routine. “Wake up at 4am. Workout for 2 hours. Complete an entire day’s work before 9am.”

The problem is, no “perfectly structured” morning routine will work for you unless your why behind it is strong enough. You have to want to do it. Don’t adopt somebody else’s morning routine just because it sounds good.

In this episode, I walk you through what my morning routine looks like, how journaling, exercise, and meditation play into that, and how to create a morning routine that makes you excited to get up in the morning.

When I was first introduced to the concept of meditation, I immediately wrote it off as not being for me. I thought I was too much of a fast-paced go-getter to let meditation slow me down. But when I finally decided to give it a try (after discovering that other high-achievers attributed much of their success to meditation) it changed everything for me.

This week, Caitlin and I share our personal experiences with meditation and highlight the transformative effects and benefits of finding a practice that works for you. Our conversation extends beyond traditional meditation, touching on alternative spiritual practices such as ayahuasca and psilocybin use. As we explore various paths to spiritual enlightenment, we underscore that the main goal is to create space between thoughts, leading to enhanced clarity and decision-making.

There’s nothing more disheartening than experiencing a breakthrough in spiritual growth, only to feel lost and confused again a short time later. But here’s the good news: encountering a spiritual 'lid' is actually a sign of growth! We explain this common phenomenon and draw parallels to the Entrepreneurial to Purposeful (E2P) model, and encourage you to view these moments as transitions to the next level of spiritual development. We wrap up the discussion by exploring signs of spiritual and personal growth, emphasizing that true progress often manifests in a reduced sensitivity to things that were once bothersome or upsetting, leading to a lighter and clearer way of living.

P.S. We apologize in advance for the dips in sound throughout this episode! Podcasting is a fun game of constant learning and growth. :)

How do you know when you’re truly “ready” to do the inner work? You may think you’re ready, but then find you’re not yet willing or able to endure the hardest parts of the process. We discuss the concept of being “ready, willing, and able” in relation to personal growth and spirituality, drawing analogies to real estate, business, and sports. We stress the importance of being open to doing the inner work and being prepared to face the discomfort brought about by personal growth. Once you get past the hardest yet most crucial phase, it’s important to remember that the journey is never over. Life will repeatedly hand us opportunities to learn how to handle discomfort and embrace challenges. The process, while challenging, leads to deeper self-understanding and realization.

We conclude the Spirituality 101 series by diving into the topic of surrender. We explain how surrendering is not passive, it is about letting go of the part of you that can't handle a situation so that you can actually handle it. I encourage listeners to welcome disturbances as opportunities for growth and assure that with continued practice, one can walk through the world undisturbed. Embrace each experience fully, and embrace the process, even if it is painful, as this pain leads to the ultimate peace.

Vision boards, Your Future Self, goal setting—these can all be powerful tools for manifestation if you enjoy them! But if we use them to keep a stranglehold on our goals and desires, how can we surrender to life’s path and find our true purpose?

This week, we emphasize the importance of self-realization as the primary purpose in life, and how learning to surrender to unsuspected life paths can often lead to surprisingly successful outcomes. By aligning our actions from a place of inner clarity, we can more easily allow life to unfold naturally and enjoy the journey along the way.

“My heart dropped.” We all know this feeling. And yet, we are aware that, even in those moments where it feels like our heart is in our stomach or leaping out of our chest, our physical heart hasn’t moved. So what causes these wild feelings and why do we label them in this way?

In this episode, we discuss the difference between our physical heart and our spiritual heart. You'll learn how the energy of your heart, affected by external events, can be managed to establish inner harmony. We also explore the process of spiritual growth, likening it to a snake shedding its skin or sandpaper smoothing out rough surfaces. I talk a lot about the intersection of business and spirituality and how the two can complement each other, but is there ever actually a dividing line? Are there areas where it’s harder to bridge the gap than others?

Caitlin and I delve into the crucial difference between worldly and spiritual life and shed light on the often-misunderstood relationship between wealth and inner peace, using Elon Musk as an example. By understanding the human tendency to resort to drama and crisis as escape mechanisms from internal struggles, we learn how life’s challenges, both in and out of business, can be stepping stones for personal and spiritual growth.

This week, we welcome a familiar voice back to Adam Hergenrother Companies: Caitlin Frauton. Caitlin helps me dig into the often misunderstood concept of surrender, which, contrary to popular belief, means freeing oneself from the constant mind chatter and attachments that control your life, not forfeiting your participation in life. We draw on Michael Singer's example, illustrating how surrendering to life's flow simplifies decision-making so that we don’t feel the pressure to say “yes” to everything. We emphasize the need for patience in spiritual growth, the risks of rushing the process, and the importance of addressing internal conflicts before attempting to alter external situations.

In our society, nobody ever really teaches you about your inner world. Everyone is always so focused on the outer world, business goals, awards, money, and material success that we often overlook the importance of understanding our inner selves. In this episode, Hallie and I explore how to begin to cultivate awareness, and gradually move towards pure awareness. And, yes, we talk about what pure awareness is too! We also cover why it's important to be more aware of your emotions than to control them, the three levels of awareness and consciousness, and how surrendering may lead to less motivation - for a time. Remember, pure awareness is an infinite game, so start small and stay in the present moment. See full show notes.

Creating a new, authentically fulfilled life means that you’ll have to let go of your old one. This week, Hallie and I unpack that concept, which can be a scary one that threatens our identity and makes our ego and psyche want to do backflips. We explore the idea that the most profound spiritual moments are found in the ordinary and day-to-day experiences of life, not just in extreme or outlier events. In order to grow spiritually, you must be willing to let go of your old life. This can be a difficult process but ultimately leads to a more authentic and fulfilling life where you aren’t run by your mind at every turn. Hallie and I also tackle the question of how to know whether a decision is coming from your ego or your energy, and how to let go of the things that no longer serve you. See full show notes.

Change is inevitable. Everything around us is constantly changing, from life to business, even our bodies right down to a cellular level. Right now in business, it’s particularly important to embrace change and lean into what is happening in the present moment. This week, Hallie and I talk about why we fear change, learning to embrace it, and the cost of staying stuck. We discuss the two levels of change and how to deal with the scary, annoying, and uncomfortable feeling of uncertainty.

What does it mean to play checkmate with life? In this episode, Hallie and I discuss the concept of accepting what life gives you and becoming okay with everything. We dive into the concept that when you reach this state of mind, there is nothing to lose, and you become fearless because you know that whatever you need will show up. This doesn’t mean you don’t play big in life, but instead, you are part of the experience and accept the way things are.

We also explore the idea that whatever experience you’re having is meant for you to have. It’s about being okay with the way things are, not the way you want them to be. Instead of trying to manipulate the chess pieces of life, you can lay down your king and stop resisting the flow of life. Once you do that, you’re already free. See full show notes.

Hallie and I continue our conversation on free will, diving into the concept of transcendence. We discuss how beliefs are shaped by experiences and perspectives, the idea of absolute truth, and how the ego can influence our perception of the world. We talk about the difference between willpower and free will, the effects of transcending beliefs, and the role of determinism. We explore the idea that beliefs are fine, but transcending them is really where the clarity and forward momentum lie, and knowing that can help us not label everything as good or bad, but enjoy just having the experience. Are you in charge of every decision you make, or are you merely a puppet on the strings of the source of consciousness? This week, Hallie and I played around with the concept of free will, and whether we have it or if our life is already predetermined. This is a topic that comes up quite often when people wonder if they are on the right path in life, or when they seek the answer to whether or not they are doing what they are truly meant to be doing. Our aim for this conversation is not to be right, but to encourage people to think about life and our choices in a new way. We discuss the differences between determinism, fatalism, and free will, and how our choices may have more to do with past experiences than we think. Hallie and I explore the idea that there may be a predetermined destiny, but we still have the power to make choices along the way. See full show notes.

Despite what some may think, the goal of leadership is not about getting what you want or controlling others. In fact, leadership is an action that requires a lot of listening and doing tough inner work. This week, Hallie and I talk about how to lead with and without a title and the character traits required for both. We talk about the upside of being a good leader and how it impacts the whole organization, how a great leader knows when to listen and let others lead, and a few of the signs that leadership might not be for someone depending on their expectations, and their ability to surrender and communicate their vision. As we continue our series on wealth, we recap that being rich doesn’t necessarily mean being wealthy. It’s especially important to have conversations around money and wealth in this changing economy, which is affecting people’s habits and earnings, and to become aware of your own thoughts and feelings around money. Hallie and I openly discuss the money messages we got growing up and how this information can free you from limiting beliefs and help you gain greater awareness and understanding. It’s okay to play in the outside world, but you’ll gain more clarity when you do the inner work and really sort through your relationship with money. See full show notes.

“Hey, good for you. That’s awesome.” It’s a phrase we often both say and hear, but do we really always mean it? And if you don’t feel like something is truly awesome, are you being disingenuous by saying it is? This week, Hallie and I break down why saying “that’s awesome” can be an incredible tool, and how we can use it to observe what comes up in our emotions, mind, and outer reality. We talk about how to reframe your inner dialogue to enjoy life’s experience even for the seemingly less awesome things in life, and how that subtle shift will help you play checkmate with life.

Today’s bonus episode is a recording of a speech Adam gave at Livian’s annual Advance conference, titled The 200% Life. In his speech, Adam touches on the many facets of living a 200% life, from the difference between our inner and outer worlds, to recognizing the little voice (or the ego) inside your head, to detaching yourself from the outcome and realizing that vacations don’t solve anything. This episode is a great place to start if you are beginning your spiritual journey, or the perfect reference point to return to if you need a few reminders in your current journey.

Kenyan long-distance runner and champion Eliud Kipchoge once said that only the disciplined ones in life are free. That’s a powerful statement and one that not a lot of people are willing to sit and think about. This week, Hallie and I tackle the topic of how discipline really equals freedom, and how if you aren’t disciplined, you are a slave to your moods and emotions. We discuss how people think they want time to do whatever they feel like, but what they are really searching for is absolute peace and freedom from the ego’s nagging voice. We share how we build discipline in our lives, and why having total freedom can feel very chaotic and the opposite of free. Then, we give you a challenge to build more discipline (and ultimately freedom) in your life in just 30 days. See full show notes.

The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your inner experience, so how can you make sure it’s a good one? This week, Hallie and I broached the concept of optimistic nihilism, and how we can dare to surrender to the reality that death is an event that happens to everyone, no matter how rich, happy, or successful they are. Don’t let your impending death make you give up! Instead, leverage death to help you become more present and observe your emotions, rather than getting tangled up in them. We also talk about how our ego tends to take us away from the reality of situations and share a beautiful quote from Sri Nisargadatta Mahaaraj about seeing life and death as a succession of events.

As you read this right now, are you performing that action because it is part of your destiny, or is it a choice you made out of free will? This week, Hallie and I do some major self-inquiry on the existence of free will. We don’t quite come up with a finite answer, but rather peel back the layers behind the question. As deeper inspiration comes from consciousness and we have a more connected experience with our inner world, it’s fun to explore whether we truly act a certain way of our own accord, or if our entire life is already predetermined in some way — from the small decisions to the big life-changing ones.

What’s the difference between spirit and spirituality? In what ways does your consciousness love to create? This week, Hallie and I go deep with self-inquiry and invite you to do the same. We talk about how easy it is to get disturbed when something doesn’t feel like it’s going the way you want it to, and how much better you will feel when you learn not to need it to be that way in the first place. We talk about how to let an experience move through you, feel the transmutation, and let the process unfold. Hallie and I also talk about how we are all one collective consciousness, and that we should not judge others in the way they are called to create.

Is it possible to turn your mind on and off and only use it as a tool, rather than just have it running constantly in the background all the time? Would be nice, right? This week, Hallie and I first talk about how every event has a vibrational frequency, and why some decisions seem to just flow easily instead of taking a lot of mental effort. We talk about the clarity that comes when you can just embrace the present moment and share a few personal examples of when life took over without worrying too much about what the mind had to say about it. https://adamhergenrother.com/166-is-it-possible-to-turn-off-your-mind/ (See full show notes.)

In this solo episode, I jump into a concept that came up at our recent Project U retreat - what are our emotions, where do they come from, and why are they there? Further, why does the world feel so difficult and how can we feel our emotions in a way that they flow through us rather than getting stuck? I discuss what happens when emotion triggers the mind, and how each event has a vibrational pattern to it. For some even fun talk, I discuss why Eckhart Tolle drinks Starbucks, and how stored up feelings can feel (and smell) like a skunk in our emotional refrigerator.

Although alcohol sales went up during the pandemic, the pendulum seems to have swung another direction with a type of sober initiative now, along with more mocktail and non-alcoholic beverage offerings at bars and restaurants. We also include some tips to think about if and when you decide to drink, and share personal stories about finding the right balance of alcohol and caffeine in our life. https://adamhergenrother.com/163-how-much-alcohol-is-bad-for-you/ (See full show notes.)

Our discussion this week stems from a recent (very long) podcast where Jordan Peterson and Lex Fridman talk about everything from life, death, and power to fame. They each come with very different opinions and beliefs, and this sparks Hallie and me to discuss that the more you know yourself, the deeper you can go in both your own beliefs and knowing what is coming from the truth inside you vs. from your mind. We share a framework that can help you start to uncover your purpose and gain clarity. Hallie and I also talk about how to notice the little “aha” moments that pop up in life to show you where you can make big shifts that have a profound impact on your life, both in business and spirituality.

Are you thinking and acting like a true CEO? This week, Hallie and I explore what it really looks like when a CEO creates the type of energy and momentum that empowers others, garners efficiency, and helps others own the outcomes of the decisions they are making. We give a real-life and current example of how everyone being on board together can help us all “charge the storm” with one common goal in mind, along with discussing the cost of what happens when a CEO has scattered and unclear energy. We shed light on why high-performing leaders have a narrow focus, and explain how to eliminate the distractions that stop you and your team from being the highest and best-performing version of themselves.

Hallie and I discuss why people take themselves so seriously, and how we can let go in order to enjoy life to the fullest. We first discuss what not taking ourselves so seriously means to us and why people feel the need to fit the mold of what the world says we should be. We then explain how crazy it is that we, as humans, stress over all of these things that really don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. I also emphasize the difference between “not taking yourself seriously” and “not caring”.

Today, I’m wise, so I’m changing myself.” Hallie and I break down what this quote means and how we can use it to expand our patience, self-awareness, and overall feeling of calm towards ourselves and others. We talk about why you shouldn’t wait for the conditions to be perfect before jumping into self-growth, and the two important frameworks that will help you fully experience all that life has to offer.

We recently surveyed our Founder and Force Multiplier community, and one of the most common concerns from both leaders and their force multipliers was how to get leaders to give up more control and stop micromanaging. A lot of Chiefs of Staff and Executive Assistants are looking to flourish more in their role and help their leaders break free of having to manage every decision. At the same time, leaders themselves know that they should give up more control, but don’t know how to let go. Hallie and I break down what causes leaders to micromanage and how to recognize if you are micromanaging as well. We also shed some light on the cost of micromanaging and why culture is so important to create a space for people to flourish and take chances that can improve effectiveness, happiness, and overall productivity.

Hallie and I came across this great quote: “If you’re feeling down, ask yourself what’s wrong with this moment. Chances are you’re upset about something that happened in the past or you’re anticipating something that might happen in the future. But is there anything wrong in this exact moment? Probably not. So stop worrying. And if there is something wrong with this exact moment, there are 3 things you can do to fix it. You can remove yourself from the situation, you can change it, or you can always accept it.” On today’s bonus episode, we break down this quote, explain what it truly means to “feel down”, and discuss that it’s impossible to live a spiritual life with conditions. There’s a great quote by renowned football coach Tony Dungy that says “Goals have a beginning and an end. Purpose doesn’t. Purpose is what we live for.” Hallie and I break down that quote this week and expand on it by talking about the fact that you should definitely set goals, just know you aren’t going to feel any different when you actually hit them. We talk about how the first step is setting a goal, then letting go of the outcome, and how if you're setting the goal to make yourself feel better internally or for ultimate fulfillment, you're doing it the wrong way. We talk about the 200% world that includes 100% outer world and 100% inner world, and how you can play in the physical world and set goals while remaining connected to the inner one.

Did you know that you are living in two different worlds? There is the outer world (business) and the inner world (spirituality) and they can coexist. You can be a spiritual seeker AND a business leader who drives a BMW, gets your groceries delivered, and creates Instagram Reels! This week, Hallie and I break down the difference between your inner world and your outer world, and why the distinction between the two is important. We give examples of tuning into our inner world so that the outer one flows more easily, and how just because you do the inner work that doesn’t mean the outer world will necessarily become picture perfect. This is the perfect conversation for understanding the convergence of business and spirituality, and how we can create more ease and less resistance to our outer situation when we really pay attention to our inner one.

How do the greatest entrepreneurs create a rhythm in their lives that allows for strategic thinking and creative planning? Hallie and I break down what a steward is, talk about the benefits of being a good steward of your time, resources, and knowledge, and give some motivating words from Warren Buffett and Ray Dalio. https://adamhergenrother.com/101-what-it-means-to-be-a-steward-of-your-capital-time-and-knowledge/ (See full show notes.)

It’s our 100th episode! First, thank you so much to all the listeners for tuning in all around the world. To celebrate, we kick off today’s episode with a very special guest, my seven-year-old son, Asher. He has a quick message for you about moderation and what it means to him. Then, I share the story of my 2014 journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The intense physical and mental challenges of the climb to the top, along with the beautiful backdrop of Africa, was the perfect way to learn just how interconnected we are with nature, the power of managing your mindset, and how to laugh through the pain. There were so many lessons along the way. Taking on challenges is one of the best ways you can learn. Hallie and I also talk about how to relate these lessons to business and how we can know when we are in too deep, or when we need to just keep pushing. https://adamhergenrother.com/100-100-episodes-a-hike-up-kilimanjaro-and-a-special-message-about-moderation/ (See full show notes.)

Making a huge change in life is never easy, and often it is our own fear of what is on the other side of the transformation that holds us back from reaching for what we really want in life. This week, we outline the five steps of making a major life change as taught by famed life coach, Tony Robbins. These stages may each take days, weeks, even years, but you may be able to recognize them in your own life and use the steps as a guide to see where you are now, push yourself to take action before the later stages, and get where you want to go. There is a chemistry to transformation and the perfect formula for your life change is already within you. Money can have such an impact on your life, good or bad. When you hear the word money, you may cringe, get excited, or just feel indifferent. From an early age, we begin building a story around money that triggers those reactions and dictates what money means to us. This week, we explore the difference between being wealthy vs. rich, and how to get conscious about your money beliefs. Hallie and I talk about how our own families handled money growing up and the impact that had during our adulthood. This episode is Part 2 of our four-part Consciousness at Work audio series. If you missed Part 1, we recommend you begin at the last episode. In this section, we explore imposter syndrome or feeling like a fraud, that most of us experience in our lives at one point or another — especially at work. Impostor syndrome can even happen after you have had success in business. In this episode, Hallie and I drill down to the core of what feeling imposter syndrome can tell you about yourself and explore how you can use the energy of uncomfortable feelings to move yourself forward in the right direction. We talk about how to sit through negative feelings to allow them to pass, rather than to distract ourselves away from them, and the letting go that helps us gain clarity.

In this first session of our four-part series, we dive into what bringing consciousness to work really means. When you live in the moment, with conscious awareness of yourself and your energy, you become better at everything you do. You actually can become a fierce business competitor, because you become egoless and fearless. But the ultimate gift you're going to get from having more consciousness at work and in your life is you’re going to suffer less.    Consciousness comes more naturally for most when engaged in activities like sitting in nature, meditating, or doing yoga. But there is so much value in bringing that mindset to work, especially during a busy day or when things aren’t going your way. This week, we first get clear on what consciousness is, what we define as work, and how work can be a conduit for spiritual growth. We give some real-life examples of what it looks like to bring your consciousness and awareness into your workday and share with you our exciting plan for what’s to come in the next three parts of the series. https://adamhergenrother.com/092-consciousness-at-work-part-1-how-to-bring-consciousness-to-work/ (See full show notes here.)

Not only will this help you get clear on what really matters, but it will act as a North Star as you make decisions and help you decide where to spend your money, energy, and time. We talk about Ray Dalio’s principles and how to know other people we first must know ourselves, discuss what the point of having an argument really is for, and how we can align our principles with inspired action more every day.

The driving force behind human action is motivation. Think about what truly motivates you. You may be motivated to lose weight, make more money, or gain more freedom. The thing is, if the motivation turns out to be a means to end, then it is not true motivation. The most impactful motivation comes from when you are living from your true and authentic self, free from ego, from which you can experience a much more powerful drive that is focused by your intentions in alignment with nature. From this place of authenticity, you can start living a bigger life than you ever thought possible.   But, it’s not easy to just let go of old drives that do not serve you or to surrender the mind’s stories we have long believed about ourselves. So this week, we talk about how to flow from a state of acceptance, joy, and enthusiasm, and why that will help us be even more productive and clear than just trying to muscle through with external motivation. https://adamhergenrother.com/?p=9259 (See full show notes.)

There is a mountain of content out there for each and every one of us. Between social media channels, emails, the news, emerging apps, tools, and technology, there’s a lot of noise in our world. We are nearly constantly bombarded with new articles we “need” to read, new must-listen podcasts, conferences, webinars, new episodes to stream — all while our emails are piling up in multiple inboxes. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by this ceaseless influx of new information — some of it contradictory, and much of it ultimately useless to our businesses and our lives. This week, Hallie and I talk about how to cut through the noise and get purposeful about the content you consume. Of course, it’s important in whatever industry you are in to pay attention and stay on top of the news, but not at the cost of your and your team’s performance in the moment. We talk about building purpose into your content choices by revisiting goals, staying centered and laser-focused, and how to say no to media that isn’t helping move you or your business forward.

Personal challenges happen to all of us, and let's be honest, work isn't the place that a lot of high achievers and leaders want to talk about issues they are having outside of the office. We often struggle with how to share our challenges (if at all!) and what to say to others who are experiencing them. But look, part of being a whole person at work and building a culture of work-life integration is recognizing that you and your team have personal lives that are deeply important, too, and especially when challenges arise.  So this week Caitlin joins me to discuss how to navigate personal challenges at work whether you are experiencing them yourself or someone on your team is struggling with a divorce, death or another crisis. We discuss why it's important not to hide them, what to say to others about them, why so many people feel insecure sharing personal issues (even though everyone has them at one time or another), and the incredibly powerful thing that happens when we give ourselves full permission to feel in both life and business. https://adamhergenrother.com/076-is-everything-okay-how-to-process-personal-issues-at-work/ (See full show notes.)

Over the past 10 years, I've bootstrapped my way to a billion dollar organization which includes five separate entities and counting. Sure, I've had what others would call success (the houses, the cars, the vacations)... but once you have "it all" you ask yourself - like I did - "Is this all there is?"  This podcast is for the leaders and high achievers who have reached success on the outside and still feel like something is missing in their life. We're going to go deep. We're going to dig into the tough questions about life and business and leadership... I'm going to show you how to give and receive anything you want in life, by mastering your inner world first.  After all, business is nothing but a conduit for your personal growth.   Need nothing. Enjoy everything!
