Heavenly Father,
My heart is heavy with worry and fear. I see the images of destruction and hear the anguish in the voices of those suffering the horrors of war in Ukraine.
My mind races with questions that seemingly have no answers.
God, please grant me the wisdom to trust in your Providence, to know there is a Divine plan, a plan I know not off, but a plan that will ultimately lead to outcomes of Your choosing.
As Saint Francis prayed to you centuries ago,
“Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.”
Through Your Grace and Love, may those who pursue war have a change of heart and choose peace.
May the suffering of those affected by the conflict be comforted.
May the reality of war lead the world to embrace peace.
And yet I know God Your wisdom is beyond our understanding. As Jesus prayed on the Mount of Olives as chronicled in Luke 22 Verse 42:
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but Thine be done.”

Make Every Day a Day of Thanksgiving to God
While we celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving once a year, is it possible to make every day a day of Thanksgiving to God for the many blessings in our lives?
In this episode I share three Bible Verses, all related to offering thanks to God every day.
I offer commentary on how you and I can bring to life each of those Bible verses and I again share each of those verses. But with the second sharing, I invite you to really feel God’s Word, really feel His Wisdom in your body, mind, heart, and soul.
After experiencing the power of each verse, I ask you to consider how you can apply these verses in your own life to bring you closer to God.

In Matthew 5, Verses 15-16, we're told:

God wants us to ambassadors for righteousness while we are here on earth. Your behavior serves as an example for others.
And make no mistake, if you proclaim yourself as a Christian to friends and family members, know those who are nonbelievers or weak in their faith are watching you. If you proclaim yourself to be a Christian and fail to behave accordingly, you give comfort to those who are quick to judge, and in that judging whatever faith they may have had will be weakened.
When you live an exemplary life in accordance with God's Word, you are a light in this world, a beacon for others who look up to you as a model of Christian living.
This doesn't mean you must be perfect. But I suggest to you it does mean affirming your intention every morning to live each moment of that day in a way that is pleasing to God. In so doing, you become an ambassador for God and a model for everyone you know and have contact with.
When you act as an ambassador for God, you let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven."

Is Money Truly the Root of All Evil?
How often have you heard someone say, “Money is the root of all evil” and point to the Bible as the source for their assertion?
But does the Bible say, “Money is the root of all evil?” No, the Bible does not say that.
What does the Bible say about money?
Let’s explore that question in this episode of, Bible Verses for Better Living.

The way this podcast works is I share a reading from Scripture, offer brief commentary about how you and I can incorporate God’s message from that Scripture in our daily lives, and then I again share that same reading.
But the second time I ask you to really feel God’s Word. Not just understand the reading academically, but to really feel the energy of God’s work and let it resonate through your entire mind, body, and spirit.
I then ask you to consider how you can apply the reading from Scripture in your own life.
What does the Bible say about the relationship between money and evil.
In 1 Timothy 6, Verse 10, King James Version, we’re told,
“The love of money is the root of all evil.”
It is not money itself that is evil. It’s the LOVE of money that corrupts. It is a mindset of Avarice.
But wait, Steve! In Matthew 19, Verse 24, didn’t Jesus say,
“Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”?
Let’s look closer. In Verses 25 and 26, we’re told:
“When the disciples heard that, they were greatly astounded, saying: “Who really can be saved?” 26 Looking at them intently, Jesus said to them: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Notice Jesus did not say, “It is impossible for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. Why? Because with God, all things are possible.
Recall it is the LOVE of money that is the root of evil.
According to Dictionary.com Avarice is defined as, “Insatiable greed for riches; inordinate, miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth.”
Let me re-read this definition and as I do that, tune into how the words feel to you:
, “Insatiable greed for riches; inordinate, miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth.”
As I say the words, I feel sick to my stomach. The words create a feeling of repulsion.
“Insatiable greed for riches; inordinate, miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth.”
Notice it is not wealth itself that creates feelings of repulsion. It is the greed, the miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth that creates the repulsion.
In Proverbs 11, Verse 25, we’re told,
“The generous person will prosper, and whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”
When you put money in it’s proper place, there is no conflict with Biblical principles. Money, wealth, possessions all can be used for the benefit of others.
Are we not asked to tithe from our income to support God’s work?
Are we not asked to make additional offerings in accordance with our wealth?
Isn’t it obvious the greater our income, the greater our wealth, the more we can contribute to support our places of worship and work done in the name of God?
When you worship God and live by God’s Word, you can easily keep avarice at arms’ length. You can know in your mind, heart, and soul, the true purpose of money and use wealth to do God’s work and help others, all in accordance with Biblical guidance.
Let’s return to 1 Timothy 6, Verse 10. As I again share this short reading, I invite you to really feel the truth, feel the wisdom of God’s Word in your body, mind, and soul.
“The love of money is the root of all evil.”
Are you worshipping money or are using money to provide the necessities of life for you and yourself, and then putting excess money to work for the good of others and to promote the glory of God?
How can you put money or stored wealth to better use in alignment with Biblical teaching?
I encourage you to pray on these questions and listen to - and act on - God's guidance.

Make Every Day a Day of Thanksgiving to God
While we celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving once a year, is it possible to make every day a day of Thanksgiving to God for the many blessings in our lives?
In this episode I share three Bible Verses, all related to offering thanks to God every day.

I suggest finding at least one hymn that speaks to your heart and spirit, commit to learning at least one hymn, and singing that hymn in times of trouble and when you want to feel a close connection to God.

How to Be Courages in the Face of Criticism

In Deuteronomy 31:6, we’re told,
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Anytime you speak your truth, there will be those who are quick to criticize. Unfortunately, many of your loudest critics are family members, supposed friends, and co-workers.
While a few critics may have your best interests at heart - they don’t for example want you to fail - most criticize you because they want you be a certain way.
They want you to be the person they believe you to be. Any deviation creates alarm bells that lead them to try and “rein you in”, to get you back to the way they believe you are or should be. In short, they want to control you.
In Deuteronomy 31:6, you’re promised that God will be with you when you’re strong and courageous. You’re encouraged to “speak your truth”, to be the person God intended you to be.
Allow your courage to lead you and God will be with you.

Psalm 46:1–3: "God is Our Refuge and Strength"
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”
While the words of this Psalm speak of physical catastrophe, they can apply to our emotional catastrophes and storms as well. Knowing God is with us in our hours of darkness can give us strength to survive and even thrive in the face of adversity.
It is vital to reach out to God through prayer and accept His promise offered in this Psalm.
Re-read the Psalm allowing the words to energize your mind, body, spirit and heart. Feel the words and rejoice in their power.
In Psalm 27:1, we hear:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
What is the underlying message?
When we trust the Lord, when we give ourselves to Him, when we commit to the Lord in deep and total faith, there is nothing of or on this earth we need to fear.
I encourage you to listen to God’s word a second time, but this second time I encourage you to listen with your heart, listen with your body, let the message resonate in your heart. It is then you will truly feel the power and be comforted in the truth of His word.

Do You Suffer With Anxiety? Guidance Through Philippians 4:6 - Episode 2 Show Notes
Do you suffer with anxiety? Has worry taken up permanent residence in your daily life?
We all suffer from anxiety and worry from time to time. For some of us, anxiety and worry are constant companions.
There are multiple Biblical passages to help us navigate through and release anxiety that often comes with the challenging waters we call life. One of these is found in Philippians 4:6, New American Standard Bible (NASB):
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
This passage offers the implicit promise we have the capability to be, “anxious for nothing”.
How? By asking God for what we want. In this case, we want peace of mind and emotional wellbeing.
How do we ask God for what we want? With prayer and supplication; “…let your requests be made known to God”.
We’re told to have “thanksgiving”. Thanksgiving for what? Thanksgiving for God’s grace. Thanksgiving for the benefits your prayers will bring.
Listen / read again Philippians 4:6, but this time allow the energy of God’s word to be felt through your entire body and to resonate in your heart:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Really FEEL the truth of God’s word in your body, mind, and spirit. Place your hands on your heart and allow the truth of His word to resonate in your heart.
