Tools can improve your writing, but they can also keep you from it. All about the seven best writing tools in this episode.
Here are the tools I mention:
If I could invite Hugh Howey for coffee and pick his brain, this is what I'd ask.
Sadly, I couldn't buy him a cup of coffee because of the 3,965 miles between us, but I'm so incredibly thankful that he took the time to answer my questions.
I’m always humbled by the way he talks about writing and publishing and by his generous support of other authors in the community.
If you still haven’t, read his books. Read his blog-posts on writing because there’s so much treasure in there. And prepare to be inspired by this interview and motivated to write and put serious work into your stories.
"The Martian" author Andy Weir has generously agreed to an interview with me. When I wrote this email, I never thought he'd answer. But guess what was in my mailbox one ONE day later? An answer from Andy Weir. Here are the takeaways from my interview with "The Martian" author.
Medium is THE platform for writers. How you can use it, what to look for and how to become successful on that platform – you will learn from Nicole Akers, founder of Publishious.
How does success in life work?
We will look at the life of three successful people you know and analyze what made them successful. What’s the single most important trait that makes successful people? Is there a secret behind successful indie writing careers?
I asked successful indie writers in the industry for this one secret. Not everybody answered. But the answers were surprisingly unanimous. And unglamorous. They told me how their success in life works. But it’s not a magic wand. It’s something that challenged me at exactly the point where I needed it most. It will hit you right where you need it. So if you’re not afraid of a challenge, watch this video.

In this video, I will tell you how to get the best story ideas.
If you use the scientific principles in this video, you will never fear the blank page, and you will always come up with solutions to story problems in an instant.
There's some kind of a mythical fog that surrounds the notion of story ideas. As if some chosen people only get the best ones, the J. K. Rawlings and the Hemingways and the John Grishams of this world, and probably not you. You're just waiting for the kiss of the muse and it never happens.
But what if I told you that you could train your brain to come up with great story ideas daily? What if I told you that you would never have to fear the blank page again? So let's throw away the misconceptions. Clear the fog.
Here are 5 scientific hacks you can use to come up with a great story.

If you're wondering how to write a book as a beginning author - not just some book, but an awesome book - you've come to the right place.
In this video, I will show you 8 simple steps from beginning to the end in order to finish your book.
And I want to start with a quote from Ellis Monroe. She said: "A story is not like a road to follow, but it's like a house." So in order to finish your book, your novel, you don't need a roadmap. You need a construction manual. And I will give you this construction manual today.
Be careful not to label every writing problem with writer's block. Because how come builders don't have building block or chefs don't have a cooking block? It's because they have a system. Because they have steps they follow in order to finish their work. So you don't have to have writer's block. I will give you these eight steps that will take you from beginning to the end.
And by the way, step number eight is probably the hardest one.
Everybody's talking about the pandemic, but I want to talk to you about it in a whole different way.

Imagine a piece of music made up of one single flat note. Would you listen to it?
Hey, I'm Diana and this is Story Artist.
Many stories start out great, but then they transform into one single flat note. And they become boring and tedious because there are no emotional highs and lows in the story. And the mistake lies in the pacing.
So this is principle number six: how to keep your reader invested in the story.
Don't tell me the moon is shining. Show me the Glint of light on broken glass.
Hi, I'm Diana. And this is Story Artist.
This is a quote from Anton Chekhov, and it has been valid from the beginning of times for every writer. Now it's especially popular in movies and theater but in every form of writing, it's still valid to create a believable story. And in order to create a believable story, we will talk about the principle number four, which is show don't tell.
Who's the scariest antagonist you know? Probably your own fear. Hi, I'm Diana, and this is Story Artist.Who's the scariest antagonist you know? Probably your own fear. Hi, I'm Diana, and this is Story Artist.

Today I want to talk to you about the second very important principle in the Power of Storytelling, and this principle will show you how to instantly impress readers. This principle is called: the Characteristic Moment.
If you don't learn this principle, you'll never be successful. Do I have your attention now? Hi, I'm Diana, and this is Story Artist.
In this 15 part series I call "The Power of Storytelling", I want to talk to you about 15 storytelling principles you need to understand and to master. And these principles will skyrocket everything you do as an author, be it your fiction or nonfiction, be it blogging, be it marketing. Storytelling is such a powerful tool and it works in every area.
Let's start with Principle #1
Today, I'm taking you on a short journey through my everyday life, and show you 4 simple strategies to de-stress in this busy world as a creative.
After the printing press and the invention of TV and the radio, the next revolution is coming, and we're in the middle of it. Here's what it means for you as a storyteller.
Dr. D. Corbett Everidge has an astonishing biography: He is a security specialist and martial arts instructor with twenty years of experience. Teaching people to live confidently in a world gripped by fear and violence is his life’s work. Dr. Everidge is a seasoned criminal justice educator at the college level, teaching courses such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Criminal Investigations, and Bloodspatter Pattern Analysis.
In this gripping interview Dr. Everidge gives hands-on advice of how to write more authentically about crime, violence and weaponry. Spoiler alert: you have to get your hands dirty.

Why don't we have the things we dream about? Because we're not asking the right questions. This ONE questions will change everything.
There are 4 principles of consistency that you can use for your creative life and in your business – here's how.
I changed my creative sales strategy and am talking about the only three reasons you should be ashamed to sell.
You might know how to write a first chapter. But what are the requirements for the first chapter in CONTINUING fiction? I'm analyzing the first chapter of my new book with you today.

Do you want to write a story your readers won't soon forget? Here's the one thing that will accomplish that and 5 principles to use it right.
It's a phenomenon we have seen with many TV shows and other forms of serial serial storytelling: the story is off to a great start gaining passionate fans, but the ending turns them into an angry mob of haters. How can this happen? And how can we avoid this as authors?
Beat the odds. Raise your read-through rate. Win not mere readers but fans who will continue to buy your books. How? You'll learn in this episode!
Writing climatic moment and big battles can be exhausting. How to find the balance between action and suspense? How to keep the overview when the cast of characters is huge? How to create a battle that becomes unforgettable? Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 has done an amazing job and we as writers can learn from it.
