Michelle is a systems designer in the video game industry, that also loves a good cocktail. She introduced me to Malort back in the day. We met 8-ish years ago, and I’m so happy to have her on the show. We talk about some of the whiskies that she brought, shout out to Breckenridge Brewery/distilling, Waffle House, celebrity influences. A little warning we talk about a bit about self harm prevention in the middle of the episode (because around this time it was hard not to talk about). We also talk about our early years in the games industry. To anyone who has been through the early parts of a creative career, or is going through it right now. These stories are still relevant. Michelle and I both have been lucky to have been given as much grace as we have. Find the people you relate to and who care about it and you’ll get through it. Good drinking buddies help too 😀

Episode 4 of the Season of lost seasons (aka season 3) has Haley as our special guest and TC coming back for an appearance. I miss that deep smooth voice! Haley worked at the same restaurant as TC and I. She left just before the pandemic and also became a mom. We talk some industry shop with her, how the pandemic changed things, and how being a mom has changed her life. She also brings some amazing rum that we ended up finishing that night. This episode was recorded during game 2 of the World Series in 2001, in a parking lot, because restaurant life. If anyone needs to know, my daughter has since been able to beat me at Mario Kart since this recording.

Coming at you straight from my guest’s kitchen! Episode 3 of the season of lost episodes brings us to Cynthia, Director of HR at a company that we won’t disclose here. The biggest oops this episode….someone forgot to hit record for the first 45 minutes, so we rallied with fuzzy brains and managed to talk about everything we meant to (I think). Cynthia talks about her role in HR, travel, dating over 50, and of course our drinks (gin and sake). Come and learn about what an HR director does. Cheers!

Brother Benjamin joins me on episode 2 of the season of lost episodes. We worked at the same restaurant some time before this episode. Since then he went on a spiritual journey of sorts. So we get deep and talk about connection, psychedelics, consciousness, self engineering, and Uber driving. Joins us as we sip and wax philosophic.

It’s been a hot minute since new episodes have come out. AND for good reason. I lost them. Truly, I move, changed computers and couldn’t find my backups. I found them though, and that means it’s time to release some well-aged goodness. To start off with though; I have my friend and DragonCon Digital Media Track Director Charles McFall joining me to talk about the first con I ever went to (Dragon Con). I’ve been going there for a while and I’ve found my little home on his track. It’s a great place to be and we’re going to talk about what makes it cool and keeps it going. What’s even cooler is that I’ll be doing a live show of Wasted Knowledge at DragonCon in just 5 weeks. So enjoy your poddy pods while you can, but save room for the live experience that is the DC!

Welcome to another episode of Wasted Knowledge! If you’ve never listened; it’s essentially drunk personal history with 2 professional bartenders, TC and Sean, and a professional guest that we make drinks for.

Well, that description is usually accurate. This episode is the very first interview we ever recorded, and it was with each other. We were trying to hash out the idea for the show and this is what came out. We didn't know what was going to happen with this, but seeing as how the world is a bit crazy (COVID19) we thought we might as well release this and bring a little extra happiness out into the world.

This is a very special 1 part interview. We got the chance to talk with Alexandre Gabriel, the owner and master blender of Maison Ferrand. They are responsible for such brands as Pierre Ferrand Cognac, Citadelle Gin, and Plantation Rum. Alexandre is truly a gentleman who is obsessed with his craft in the best of ways. He has a fantastic story and we only wish we could spend more time with him. Alas, he had culture and good spirits to spread, so we just keep listening to this episode over and over looking forward to the next time.

This is part 2 of our interview with cinematic and narrative designer Ashley Ruhl. In this part we talk about playing games with a more analytical edge, story loops, drinking while gaming, drunk thoughts/experiences, and have a little malort. We recorded this interview live in Ashley’s DragonCon hotel room, so we occasionally got distracted as such, we forgot to wrap up the interview formally and just started watching TV instead. Welcome to another episode of Wasted Knowledge! If you’ve never listened; it’s essentially drunk personal history with 2 professional bartenders, TC and Sean, and a professional guest that we serve drinks to.

This interview centers around the man known as, Diamond Dan. He as had many experiences, but the reason we know him and had him on the interview was because he works for Ultra Pro as brand representative, demo-er, and go-to-guy. He is also a lot of fun to have a few beverages with and talk about life. The alternate title? Well, those are Dan's words, but we agree.

This week our old co-worker, Curtis, joins us to talk about his new career as an account manager. We also got a few stories about his life and his image as a soccer enthusiast.

Curtis brought and was drinking vermouth, which can be a delicious drink when kept properly and of a sufficient quality. Vermouth is essentially a fortified wine with herbs and/or botanicals in it. I recommend getting your google on for more details, but its a whole world of alcohol if you haven't explored it much.

A wild Pat has appeared! We realized before starting this show that some of our guests might not be able or comfortable with having a few cocktails and using their real name to talk about their professional lives. In consideration of that "Pat" is on this episode to talk with us about the world of marketing and how they got there. It is a wild ride that involves Utah and some random singing, but hang in there. Those beautiful distilled grains of truth are in there and lovingly hand crafted by TC and Sean. Enjoy and feel free to say hello on the twitters.

~Cheers!

As it happens, Sean travels a lot. He runs into the same situations that are the premise for Wasted Knowledge. That is to say, late at night he has random conversations with people while on the road. This first episode, in what will be a series of mini-episodes, is a quick interview with the rock band The Adarna. They coined the term "Jet City Rock" and will melt your face if you give them half the chance. True to rocker form, they also enjoy a post show beverage and were kind enough to humor a friend with a late night interview.

Cheers!

For our first episode Sean and TC talk with Juan, a professional sommelier. They enjoy some fine wine, rum, and hear some stories from his present career. We also get to hear how Juan got here and about fishing boats in Alaska. He truly has had an exemplary life.
