95 percent of the world’s oceans and 99 percent of the ocean floor remain unexplored. Researchers in the School of Engineering joined Soil Machine Dynamics in Newcastle to form Team Tao. Together they designed a fleet of deep-sea drones that competed for the Ocean Discovery XPrize, a global competition to map the ocean floor. This episode tells the story of how Team Tao developed the drone technology that stands to revolutionise deep-sea exploration.
