SENSITIVE CONTENT: Today our host has a hard yet needed conversation with Clarecia Christie. She is an International Trade Consultant, an Educator and also an Advocate for Women Economic Empowerment and Poverty Reduction.

Clarecia, shares her intriguing story full of loss, love and grief . She also inspires us with a mixer of a colorful blend of hope, self-motivation and rosy victories. 'My brother was angry', is how she repeatedly describes her own fears and anger of the traumatic experience of having to witness the lifeless body of her sweet mom lying on the cold hospital bed.

'There's no limit on your grieving', she sums the pain and the disappointment she felt—but, in a more beautiful smiling tone like a candle that lights up a very dark place, she ushers us into a brighter part of the conversation and leads it to a place where there's a common understanding, that grief is but a stormy clouds that ceases the sky through the night, only for the rains to come, clears it away and leaves the sky with a colorful rainbow that brightens our world again.

Clarecia encourages us to “ make grief as part of our self care” the work and support we use during our grieving opens up doors to healing then one can ever think.

“It was all a dream” Having spent the past 2 years of my life with this podcast has been a life altering experience. I was reflecting back where and how it all started and one thing I realized was, this Podcast started during my whole pregnancy process.

December 2nd 2020, I was pregnant and did not know it. I did not stop and even after giving birth and having a c-section which took forever to heal I was back behind the MIC doing what I now know how to do, holding space for my guest to share their experiences and knowledge.

During these 2 years I wanted to give up so bad, I invested time and money but felt I was not going anywhere. However, something changed in me when my guest started telling me about their experience on the podcast about how it made them feel and how it was healing to them.

Anyway all this to say UMAMI CONVERSATIONS ain't going anywhere we are growing expanding and taking dominion. We are going to ensure we continue to provide our listeners with the quality sound, stories and truths.

As we continue to grow into a new year and cycle we will be doing a lot of backend work. Which will require some R.E.S.T.

We encourage you all to still tune in on Thursdays for new episodes.

Make sure to take the time to tune into the last few episodes for season 3 and subscribe to our platform for more updates

Cheers to many more savory and healing conversations

Today's episode is the second part of the deep conversation about Reiki and Mindfulness, we had with the inspiring mindfulness guide Lea Candon.  Lea was asked what inspires her: She answered that she found inspiration in pain, in solitude, in the feelings of rejections, the moments of loneliness when she found refuge in her inner wisdom. And after each one of these moments she rose so high from her rock bottoms.  What a powerful and profound statement!  We concluded this conversation by a beautiful quote which reminded us that Love is the source of Mindfulness. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me"! Do you remember saying this as a child, ignorantly entangling yourself. This statement for a very long time seemed true to me until I find out that Words are the one thing that can actually hurt me the most.

I sit down with Speech Pathologist Diana Sainsily about the power of words and her journey with that. Diana also shares with our listeners an Oral Art from Africa called kasàlà that changed the way she sees the world and the people within it. Women, especially BIPOC women have been ostracised in society for many years. However, with all that's been done to keep us shut down, we still find our way slowly going to the top. In this segment of Celebrating Women's international day, Ernestina hits us with a statement. I paraphrase, she says"when BIPOC women stop asking for validation they will pierce through territorial spirits". Seeking for validated keeps us away from fulfilling our callings and expanding to our fullest potential. Tune in to find out more about this conversation. I end this episode with a toast to us; Women. Make sure you have a glass to toast with me. With Love, AmaSuccess You can connect with Ernestina Francois. As Women’s international day just passed by, I still wanted to take a moment and celebrate the achievements of women. I sit with Ernestina Francois Certified Life coach and Impact Speaker. Ernestina is also an advocate for women and daily strived to see women from all walks of life come together and uplift one another.

In this episode of Umami, Conversations Ernestina expresses that her desire for bringing people together, especially women stemmed from her childhood. Where she saw lack when she turned to the right or left. However, in her

her little mind, she always knew that, if one person shares with another and this notion of sharing goes around there would be no lack, lack would really vanish.

The conversations get more in-depth when I ask Ernestina why she thinks lack comes from when we live in such abundance.

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL FIND OUT MORE ABOUT:

  • God puts a calling in each person's heart.

  • The reason why lack exists is that we are in opposing view with one another.

  • Greed, power, manifests themselves into individualism, that society sort of praises.

  • Projecting into what black women have achieved so far, there is still a lot of work to be done.

*Workplace experience amongst older black women and the younger ones.

*No one can take your glory from you unless you give it to them.

*Stepping out of this vicious cycle of not uplifting one another.

  • And much more...

Fedora closed up the 1st segment of this conversation by making this statement: Our Gender roles should not be based on what society dictates but should be based on our individual characteristics as men and women in general and particular. She makes an emphasis on the importance of knowing thyself to some degree in order to not be lost in the titles that society would give us when it comes to gender roles.

In this segment, we explore another powerful statement she made in a previous podcast which was: Women should not be fighting to be like men but fighting to be women.

*Fedora provided her point of view on the feminine movement.

*She shares how this society has become

*She also shares her views on how men and women can co-exist,

*We end it with her sharing her experience after having her second child, forced her and her partner to review the gender roles they had established at home.

Jamilla is a thirty-six-year-old, Montreal raised immigrant, from Kenyan and Rwandan lineage. Since both of her parents converted to Islam prior to any kind of cognizance, she was raised with elements of Islam as well an influence of the predominant culture and religion of Christianity.  As a mother of two, she’s had to learn how to adapt rather quickly to most situations it is something she now recognizes as a strength she inherited from both parents.

Finding identity in a label obsessed world has been a difficult journey. The validity in cross-sectioning identity and adaptability is a skill set she wishes to teach her children as well as anyone willing to learn.  Simply because that could help traverse even the most daunting subjects that could lend itself to the ability and/ or possibility to have a conversation.

Everything difficult starts with a conversation that is uncomfortable. A quote that would represent life as she sees it “I am no longer accepting things I cannot change, I am changing things I cannot accept”  -Angela Davis

Welcome beautiful people !!!!!  On this very first episode of Umami conversations, I get personal with you. I share a short story of where I was and where I am now. The past few years of my life have been from one emotional breakdown to another. Where tears, frustrations, fear, anxiety filled my mind. I thought, I was crazy and there was no cure, no way out of the way I was feeling and what I was experiencing. Until, one day I sought help, and in the course of all that and many more breakdowns I found a sense of freedom. Enough freedom to express myself and bring me here with you today. So kick back and enjoy the ride. Pain can change you, but that doesn't mean it has to be a bad change. Take that pain and turn it into wisdom. -Dalai Lama-
