For Christ-followers, Easter is a season to refresh and refocus our hearts on the grace of God given to us through Jesus on the cross. The Easter season begins with Ash Wednesday, a time to confess and repent of those things that keep us from taking our next step of faith. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, a 40-day process that involves fasting, giving up something you want now for something you want that’s even better. Easter season concludes on Resurrection Sunday, the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

All other regular activities and special events are canceled.
Church offices and theMission remain open. We stand ready to provide assistance as needed.

Some churches require it. Some don’t do it at all. In this episode, we discuss with Brad Aylor the value of church membership. We’ll see why and how church membership works at First Baptist Owasso and discover the value of intentionally living our lives together.

In this episode, we discuss the most read, most published, most influential, most controversial book ever written and why it should matter to you - even if you’re not religious. We also consider the value of those spiritual disciplines that deepen our faith and strengthen our resolve as we seek daily to draw close to God.
In this episode, we discover more about ministry together - through the International Mission Board, in times of tragedy and grief, and as we get ready for the Easter Season.
In the very first episode of thePlatform, we discuss the meaning behind the name, celebrate an incredible work God has done in two churches over the past three years, and take a closer look at our latest sermon series, "A King's Tale".
We think of Christmas as a season that comes around once a year. Yet, Scripture reveals it’s a story that God began in a timeless past, with purpose for the present, and a promise for the future.
In the fullness of time, God’s story encounters your own.
Your time has come.

We say it like this:
"Jesus Christ is the hope of the world and the church is His plan for sharing that hope with the world."
God's desire is clear. He loves people. He wants to free you from your sin. He wants to involve you in His mission. He wants to do something in you and through you that can't possibly be explained because of you. And you are not alone.
Of all the ways God could have chosen to share His hope with the world.... He chose you.

Where did I come from? Where am I going? Why am I here?
At some point, everyone asks these questions. God graciously begins to give His answer in the first chapter of Bible.
This summer, we’ll start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) to discover the story of God written in you.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations …” Deuteronomy 7:9

This summer, we’ll start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) to discover the story of God written in you.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations …” Deuteronomy 7:9
Where did I come from? Where am I going? Why am I here?
At some point, everyone asks these questions. God graciously begins to give His answer in the first chapter of Bible.

I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:10-13

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:1-11

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4

It’s an interesting phenomenon. We live in a culture that expects humility from everyone but themselves.
We bow before the king because the king can have us killed. That’s not humility. That’s humiliation. We doubt or deny our capacity in an attempt to appear less than we really are. That’s not humility. That’s self-deception.
Neither extreme is God’s plan for you.
Explore the book of Philippians and discover God’s design for humility. You were created by God and made for a mission. The power of humility is released when you use who you are and what you have for the benefit of others.

Right here, in the city where you live, there are people who aren’t like you. With or without a reason, some of them don’t like you. And, if you’re honest, there are people you don’t like.
What if God had a message for those people and asked you to deliver it? What if the grace He’s given you, could be given to them?
Are you stuck in the belly of a world gone bad? In this city, with these people, you are an instrument of God’s grace.

I believe in Jesus. Christmas is not some fairy tale or some made up kids story. Christmas is the miraculous moment when God in the flesh entered human history. It was not only miraculous, but it was also expected. His birth was predicted by prophet after prophet revealed by God and accomplished exactly as predicted. Not only was it expected, the birth of Jesus was strange. He was born of a virgin. This defied nature. Isaiah must have been amazed at his own words when he wrote in Isaiah 7:14
Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.

Now, as walk with the Lord into the future, what road are we going to take? Will we be a church who embraces our calling and becomes the church we are meant to be? Most definitely, we will experience great challenges as we navigate the turbulent cultural waters of our city, state, nation and world. However, we must continually be a people seeking the heart of God.

God’s desire is clear. He loves people. He wants to free you from your sin. He wants to involve you in His mission. He wants to do something in you and through you that can’t possibly be explained because of you. And you are not alone.
Of all the ways God could have chosen to share His hope, He chose us.
