How do I find the right relationship when dating apps suck? How can I find better dates? How can I deal with that nagging anxiety that no one is out there for me? How can I navigate dating with more confidence and find that right relationship?
Welcome to The Date Brazen Podcast, where we’ll answer ALL of these questions and so much more. Week after week, host, former top matchmaker and dating coach, Lily Womble brings you all the tools, strategies and coaching you need to build a clear path to the best relationship of your life.
After matching hundreds, Lily realized that with training, women can match themselves better than anyone else ever could. Now she helps thousands of women around the world build fulfilling, joyful and successful dating lives on their own terms. She’s here to help you do the same.
If you’re looking for unconventional, feminist leaning dating advice that works, this podcast is for you.
Along with her best kept secrets, Lily will share interviews with experts and live coaching sessions, so you can feel seen, heard and inspired.
Today's podcast episode is a coaching session with Michelle. She's in her 50s, divorced after a 24-year marriage, and getting back into dating after being with one person her whole adult life.
In this raw and powerful coaching session, we unpack the overwhelm of dating apps, the anxiety of being “naive,” and the pressure late bloomers feel to already know how dating is supposed to work.
Michelle shares how:
→ Dating apps make her feel panicked in 3 minutes or less
→ She’s afraid she missed the memo on how to flirt or date
→ All she really wants is a partner to laugh with at a family campsite, but dating feels like an IMPOSSIBLE way to get there.
We talk about self-compassion, letting go of judgment, and what it means to stop settling—not just for the wrong relationship, but for a miserable dating life.

Are you loving the listener Q&A episodes? If so, today is your lucky day; we have another one for you! This week, Lily unpacks the idea of "my ex raised the bar," the stories we make up about dating standards, and how to reclaim your agency. The listener’s question went something like this:
“I am dating with intention right now. I was dating someone six months ago, and he broke my heart. He also raised the bar, but I feel like it’s tripping me up. Is holding on to him or wondering about him hurting my chances? If he raised the bar, is that a good thing?”
This episode reminds you that you deserve a relationship with someone who fiercely chooses you. Plus, Lily explores how and why to reclaim agency over “the bar,” recognize that you own it, and can continue to raise it (yourself) based on your needs, wants, and desires.

I’ll also share what one client said to me and how that one sentence was the catalyst for the deep and meaningful change in my life’s work and mission to support women like you.

This week’s episode has been in the works since early 2020! In March of that same year, Chris and I started watching Love on the Spectrum, a Netflix series that follows young adults on the autism spectrum, who explore the unpredictable world of dating and its unique challenges. I quickly recognized how beautifully crafted the series was and how much we can learn from it. So, I invited Jodi Rodgers, the show’s sexologist and therapist, to share all of her dating wisdom with us! Jodi Rodgers is a qualified sexologist, counselor, and special education teacher. She has worked within the education and community sectors in Australia and all over the world. She has extensive experience working with neurodiverse people of all ages.
She created her private practice, Birds and Bees, after 25 years of working in education, disability, and sexuality fields. Birds and Bees specializes in delivering counseling services and workshops for people with a disability, with a focus on sexuality, sexual health, and relationships, as well as training for parents, carers, and professionals to raise the community's capacity in this sometimes tricky area.

This week I am talking about the concept of competition in your dating life. I’ll be sharing how to move from a competitive mindset to a party mindset. Of course, it's hard NOT to think of dating as a competition..., especially when being in a relationship represents "moving forward" into a new stage in life. However, I am here to remind you that's a patriarchal narrative that no longer serves you.
In this episode, I explore how competition shows up, what it is a reflection of and how you begin to practice self-trust and confidence in order to change your dating mindset for good.
Dating is not a race to the finish line. It's a party where your only job is to own what you desire, own what you need, get your needs met, and allow the magic of co-creation to do the rest.

Why does it feel like shit to put yourself first? This week I am talking all about putting yourself first, why it feels uncomfortable, and what you can do about it.
When we choose ourselves and set boundaries to protect ourselves, it doesn't always feel like sunshine and roses. In fact, it can feel uncertain and downright scary.
Here’s the thing, as women in a patriarchal society, we’ve been socialized to put the needs of others before our own. So it’s going to feel shitty when we choose to respond to our own needs first. And that’s okay.
It’s time to choose YOU, my gorgeous friend. I invite you on this journey.

In this episode, she shares her decision to join the Brazen Breakthrough and explores how it helped her to become the main character in her life, show up for herself, and embrace her power. Have you ever received bad dating advice from family or friends? And has that advice impacted you in negative ways? Well, this week, I talk about how to deal when you get bad dating advice from people who have no business dishing it out.
Some of the advice could sound something like:
"Maybe you're single because you asked for too much."
“Maybe you're single because you didn't lose weight.”
“Maybe you didn't give them enough of a try.”
“Maybe you are just too old.”
Getting bad advice SUCKS. Yes, and, if you think those thoughts to be true, it’s time to breathe new life into the stories you are believing about your love life. This episode is going to help you do just that.

West Elm Caleb is taking social media by storm. In this episode, I break down who West Elm Caleb is and why his dating style, which included love-bombing and ghosting, was causing an uproar online. More importantly, I explain why this entire scenario is a call to action for the dating world. Alright, if you want to know why I am referring to this as a call to action - here’s a quick hot-take, which I dig deeper in this episode:
Dating is experiencing a public health crisis. Yes, you read that correctly, my beautiful friend. The way in which dating has evolved, with dating apps at the center, is deeply affecting our nervous systems. Dating is exhausting and affects our nervous system to the detriment of our health.
The goal of every dating app is this: to introduce you to someone outside of your social circle and to make money.
Your job is to take care of your nervous system.
Your job is to learn to trust yourself so that you can spot the next West Elm Caleb versus someone who is interested in a deeper connection.
Of course, sometimes shit is going to happen. Both, and - your job is to respond to it with self-compassion. I dive into a lot more in this episode.

Regardless of where you are in your dating life: you still get to enjoy being single and love it! Vasavi Kumar, an on-camera Confidence and Content Creation Coach, is here to explore this topic.
Vasavi pivoted from being a therapist where she worked with women for over ten years. The conversation her patients kept bringing to her was, ‘Why am I not in a relationship?” Vasavi's mission is to help women sustain themselves financially, emotionally, and psychologically.

This week I am responding to a listener’s email, let’s call this listener Jen. Jen recently wrote in asking how to reply to men who text or call to “check-in”, AFTER they have broken up with her. Here’s an excerpt from her email:
“I don't want to be someone's backburner chick. I want to be a Number 1 gal! So what should I do in this situation--is ghosting appropriate (is it even ghosting)? Or does your "clarity is kindness" mantra mean that I should respond directly letting them know that I don't wish to stay in contact as a romantic partner or friend?”
In this episode, I break down a simple bless and release method that will help Jen (and listeners out there who need to hear it!) live into her, “Yes!” When you can set a boundary, bless and release; you make more room for people in your life who are a “Hell, yes!” to you.

Dating is a hotbed of patriarchal, conventional bullshit.
For example: "Laugh more on a date. Boys like girls who are jovial. Be more of a mystery. Guys like the thrill of the chase. Ask more questions. Get on all the dating apps because it's a number's game."
Translation: Dating successfully means making yourself smaller, talking less, going on more dates, lowering your standards— #bullshit.
In this episode, I shine the light on how dating can be a feminist act and what dating from an intersectional feminist lens can look like. When you permit yourself to want what you want, you extend that permission to others around you. How you date is an expression of who you are as a woman in the world.
I want you to find your life's most extraordinary love with the emotional tools you need to do so. Finding love on your terms is possible; figuring out how to do so on your terms and how you plan to show up is the first step.

I wanted to start the new year with one of my favorite parts of last year: The Finding Your Fearless Retreat which we held in December. During the retreat, I gave a lesson on boundaries and, today, I am sharing that session with you! You'll hear the dating boundaries I recommend you create to invite in more abundance, how to craft boundaries to invite in more self-care, how to protect your heart, and find people who are right for you.
I wanted to share this lesson with you because my words for 2021 are abundance and ease. While boundaries may not be easy to create or enforce, when you're able to set them clearly and support yourself in developing them, they bring more comfort to your everyday life. I'm so excited for you to listen, and I am so excited to be your dating coach in 2021.

A new year is almost here. For the last episode of 2020, I wanted to set the stage so that you can build your 2021 dating strategy with focus and compassion.
When I say strategy, I don’t mean swiping in a specific way on dating apps or playing a numbers game.
Instead, your dating strategy is knowing what you want, the actions that can lead you to find what you are looking for, and how to protect your heart and cognitive load in the process.
To help you build your dating strategy, I’ve come up with three questions to ask yourself. These questions will help you to reflect on what worked in 2020, what didn’t, and what you should (or shouldn’t) focus on in the year to come.

When is pickiness a problem versus when your preferences are perceived as picky by others - that’s the topic of this week’s episode.
"Why haven't I found my person yet? Maybe I am just too picky?"
Sound familiar?
PIckiness can be a problem when the story you tell yourself is that nobody is good enough for you. I share why that type of story is typically rooted in past trauma and past self-protection; and what you can do about it.
I also explore how dating from a place of abundance instead of proving something or someone wrong helps you attract people you align with and are excited to be around.
In other words, when you stop trying to please others and instead turn the focus on your wants and needs, your person will gravitate towards you.
As you listen to this episode, ask yourself these questions: What do I sincerely want? How can I permit myself to be authentic? And, how can I work on remaining open to being surprised?
Chances are, my gorgeous friend, you are not too picky. But that doesn't mean there isn't some work to be done.

Today, I want you to practice CLAIMING why you are awesome. What you love about yourself. Why someone is going to feel so lucky to call you their partner.
Pushing down what made me EXACTLY who I was, why I was awesome and complicated and beautifully “too much”, it made me feel like a hollow husk of myself in my dating life.
That all changed when I shifted the focus to exactly why I loved myself, why I was worthy of love, what I was bringing to the table on dates, that’s when dating started to feel like self-care. In this episode, I am going to share how I made the shift and how you can too.
With this shift, dating became an opportunity to explore and live out what I loved about myself.

In this week’s show, I am talking to life coach, Imani Nekohl, about fear and dating. Imani is a life coach who helps women find their confidence and step into their purpose. She’s a badass, long-time friend, and an incredible inspiration to me.
When it comes to fear and dating, there’s no need to be “fearless” (in our conversation, you’ll hear all about how that goal isn’t even possible for us humans). This episode will break down the three main fears that you probably are facing in your dating life. Plus, Imani shares some tactical takeaways to help you to move past these three dating fears into power.

The problem: You go on dates with people who turn out to be duds. You can’t find good people. You’re stuck in a never-ending cycle of bad dates. Well, in this episode I am going to share my three-step system for qualifying and disqualifying dates.
Yes, my friend, the idea of qualifying the right people versus the wrong ones is scary. To get what you want from your dating life, you need to create a high barrier to entry. You have access to the many, and you need to be swiping and dating for the few. My system will help you do just that.

Today's episode of The Date Brazen Podcast is an unscripted conversation with my life partner, Chris.
We sat down in our bedroom (my usual closet space was too small for the both of us) to record this conversation on Sunday, and we kept it really real.
In our convo today, we get into how we met, our first disagreement (eek), how he felt about me starting Date Brazen (it was a little rocky), and his thoughts on men in the dating world.
I can't wait for you to get to know him!

On today’s episode, we’ll talk about how you can create a dating life that feels like self-care with three really easy (and free) steps.
Growth happens outside of our comfort zone, so let’s go!
I have some big news for you and your dating life: You don’t have to be on a dating app to find love.
Conventional dating wisdom says that you need to play the numbers game, that dating apps exist so you MUST be on them to be “Trying” in your dating life.
I know this isn’t the truth. Dating apps are amazing at 2 things: 1. introducing you to someone outside of your social circle and 2. Getting to know your dating personality. But they are not the answer to your love life.
Today’s episode is a live coaching session with my client, Amelia, where we dive into her dating life, hear about her struggles and come up with three actionable strategies for her to use right now to find love in-person (without a dating app).
I can’t wait for you to hear our conversation, so let’s dive in.

“How do I move on with my dating life after a really hard breakup?”
It’s a question I get all the time, and today I have the answer for you.
In this episode, I’m getting really vulnerable and sharing about my most recent ex with the help of the Brazen Relationship Reflection Guide (which you can download for yourself in our show notes here!).
Reflecting on your past relationships can be tough (it was for me). And it’s also the key you need to find the best relationship of your life.
Let’s supercharge your dating life (or current relationship) together right now!
