He and his wife lived in a charming apartment on Parliament Street in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of Toronto, where they were currently caring for a litter of energetic felines. One day, one of the kittens disappeared, prompting Ernest to search for it around their home. As he combed the area, he stumbled upon a dark opening that seemed to lead into a cave. Despite only having a small flashlight with him, Ernest mustered up his courage and ventured about 10 feet inside. The Tasmanian tiger, also known as the Tasmanian wolf, was a carnivorous marsupial that roamed the Australian mainland and the islands of Tasmania and New Guinea islands. However, before Europeans arrived, it became extinct in New Guinea and mainland Australia around 3,600-3,200 years ago. It is believed that the introduction of the dingo may have contributed to its extinction, though dingoes never reached Tasmania. Before European settlement, an estimated 5,000 Tasmanian tigers remained in the wild in Tasmania. But by the nineteenth century, they were seen as a threat to farmers' livestock, and bounty hunting was introduced. Sadly, the last known Tasmanian tiger died in 1936 at Hobart Zoo in Tasmania.
However, reports still circulate of this striped creature's sightings and discussions of bringing it back through cloning its DNA.

At 8:32 AM on May 18, 1980, Mount Saint Helens awoke from its 150-year nap with a volcanic eruption of immense proportions. The blast was 1600 times the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War 2. Everything was destroyed.
Yet, immediately after the eruption, people began reporting a creature in the skies surrounding the volcano. It was said to be nine feet tall with bat-like wings and blackish-blue fur. Strangest yet, the beast seemed to have the ability to drain the energy from electronics and car engines.

Since 1891, reports of an extremely large moose have been reported roaming the forests of Maine. It has been said to stand fifteen feet tall, with antlers that reach ten feet apart, and is ghostly white in color.

In 1974, fifty-five-year-old beauty salon operator Evelyn Wendt of Dade City, Florida, contacted the local West Palm Beach paper called “The Weekday” and asked to be interviewed by a reporter. She claimed that she had an extraordinary story to share with the world, and now the time was right to unveil it.

Chet's Melody Lounge is located across the road from Resurrection Cemetery where the locals come together to have a few drinks, listen to loud music, and discuss some of their favorite stories.
The popular ones are all remarkably similar. It consists of a young man out on the town for a night of dancing and drinking. Along the side of the road is walking a stunning young woman, with whom he asks if she needs a ride. She agrees and climbs into the front seat of the car with the driver. She asks to be taken to Archer Road.
However, just as they reach the street and approach Resurrection Cemetery, located on it. He turns to the young woman to find that she has vanished, leaving no trace that she was ever there.
Drivers along Archer Avenue have described similar inexplicable encounters during the last eighty years. All involving the same young woman in a white dress and dancing shoes who seems flesh and bone until she vanishes and reveals that you have met a ghost.

Lake Champlain extends north into the Canadian Province and is situated between New York and Vermont. It is sometimes referred to as the "Sixth Great Lake". These four hundred square miles of freshwater also has the distinction of being home for an elusive lake monster referred to as America's Loch Ness Monster with hundreds of documented sightings.
It is said to be between six and twenty-five feet long with exceptionally smooth skin, a humpback, and no scales. It is not like any fish but seems to be a long-lost dinosaur that escaped extinction.

Ancient tales of those mysterious places where animals go to die have always intrigued us. Whether it is the “elephants’ graveyard” or the dying place of the bison, men for centuries have searched for the one spot within each region toward which old and wounded beasts struggle, driven by some instinctual urge during their final days. Even ancient Native American burial grounds hold a special mystique to them.
The area known as ‘Big Rock’ is a rocky peak that towers two hundred feet above the surrounding countryside. A small cave high on the side of the peak was also reputedly the home of the wolf, Old Raridan, who legend says was killed in an epic battle with local settlers at the end of the 18th century defending this sacred burial ground for the grey wolves. His ghost is said to prowl the area and howl from the cliff edge during a full moon, still guarding the dead.

It started on a sunny afternoon in March of 1962 when five Florida teens went on a 7ft Air Force raft to skin-dive. They planned to explore the semi-submerged shipwreck, the USS Massachusetts, which sits on a sandbar about two miles from shore in the Gulf of Mexico.
Tragically, four teenaged skindivers: Bradford Rice, 14, Warren Felley, 16, Eric Ruyle, 16, and Larry Stuart Bill, 17 would be lost before the day was over and remain missing today. Only one boy returned. The survivor, Brian McCleary, aged 16 at the time told a story of how four of his friends died that day. It is a story as bizarre as it is disturbing.

West Virginia, known as the Mountain State, was a hotbed for cryptid sightings in the 1950s and ‘60s such as the Flatwoods Monster of Braxton County and Point Pleasant's Mothman.
On June 16, 1964, hell broke loose in Grafton, West Virginia, a sleepy town on the Tygart Valley River. Excitement here normally came by railroad rather than lurching out of the forest but for the small town, they would have their own monster legend that would not leave a single footprint yet its encounters are still talked about in hushed tones when night falls.

Deaths of entire families was occurring at an epidemic rate in New England during the beginning of the 19th century. Though much of the deaths were blamed on consumption, there were cases strangely bizarre enough that the community believed there was more going on.
Newspapers of the time used the phrase 'vampire' for these deaths, likely influenced by vampire beliefs in parts of Eastern Europe. The 'New England vampires' would feed off the life force of their family members from beyond the grave psychically, rather than being conducted by walking undead creatures of the night. The resulting deaths would be the same and the effects would spread through the community creating the Vampire Panic.
Some of the most famous believed of these New England Vampires include the Manchester Vampire, Nellie Vaughan, and the most famous case of American Vampirism, Mercy Brown.

Bladenboro is a small community surrounded by pine forests and swamps at the southeastern edge of the North Carolina piedmont. A lot of the county is made up of large forests and swampland, a perfect environment for bears, deer, bobcats and just about any other type of beast. It was also the setting for the greatest string of monster attacks during 1953-54 that the state has ever known.
One eyewitness described the animal as "about four and a half feet long, bushy, and resembling either a bear or a panther". Whatever it was, it was responsible for the deaths of over a half dozen dogs which were all found ripped apart yet devoid of any blood.

On the night of February 21, 1977, there would be an incident so incredibly tragic and extremely horrific discovered within the city of Chicago that even the stalwart citizens would have to take notice.
Firefighters called in for an apartment fire would uncover a nude body beneath a burning mattress in the living room of her apartment with a knife buried in her chest. The case lingered on for months afterwards with the lack of any motive or evidence until the case took a truly paranormal turn that would astound the police and the city of Chicago.

Coulrophobia is the irrational fear of clowns. People experience extreme cases of anxiety, a racing heart, nausea, and profuse sweating. Most people can avoid clowns. Some need exposure therapy, a type of psychotherapy, to help manage their reactions to clowns and clown images.
There is supposedly nothing to be afraid of but what if there is something instinctual about our fear of those in the brightly colored clothes and face paint. Perhaps it is a survival instinct meant to protect us from something darker.
The related urban legend of evil clown sightings in real life is known as "phantom clowns". First reported in 1981 in Brookline, Massachusetts, children said that men dressed up as clowns had attempted to lure them into a van. The panic spread throughout the US in the Midwest and Northeast.

Hawaiian oral history has it that many centuries ago, a mischievous group of small people lives hidden in the forests and valleys of the islands even before the first settlers arrived from Polynesia. These people, who roamed the deep forests at night, are said to be only two feet tall, though some were as tiny as six inches small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. They enjoyed dancing, singing and archery, and their favorite foods were bananas and fish.
According to local lore, they are smart, extremely strong, and excellent craftsmen. They are rarely seen by human eyes, and they are credited with mighty feats of engineering and overnight construction. Even today, there are reports of sightings within the forests of Hawaii.

At the end of the 1960s, Frank Hansen was making the rounds on the State Fair circuit. He was exhibiting a man-like creature covered in hair and frozen in a block of ice. At times, he would claim that the creature had been discovered in Siberia, while other times, that it was found by Japanese fishing boat floating in the sea.
It was so realistic that noted scientists, Ivan Sanderson and Bernard Heuvelmans declared it was a genuine "missing link", a bigfoot creature.
Eventually, Hansen decided to write the "true story" in his own words.

In April of 1973, there would be the beginning of encounters with a bizarre creature in the small town of Enfield, Illinois. It was described as being 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall, two hundred pounds, with tiny arms sticking out of the front of its chest and (most shocking) having only three legs.
This creature would terrorize the neighborhood by attacking children and attempting to break into homes. It is still unidentified to this day.

In 1997 NOAA recorded a mysterious underwater sound louder than anything previously recorded. Its rhythm resembled an organic sea creature but larger than anything previously discovered. It started out on a sunny afternoon in March of 1962 when five Florida teens went on a 7ft Air Force raft to skin-dive. They planned to explore the semi-submerged shipwreck, the USS Massachusetts, which sits on a sandbar about two miles from shore in the Gulf of Mexico.
Tragically, four teenaged skindivers: Bradford Rice, 14, Warren Felley, 16, Eric Ruyle, 16, and Larry Stuart Bill, 17 would be lost before the day was over and remain missing today.
Only one boy returned. The survivor, Brian McCleary, aged 16 at the time told a story of how four of his friends died that day. It is a story as bizarre as it is disturbing.

West Virginia, known as the Mountain State, was a hotbed for cryptid sightings in the 1950s and ‘60s such as the Flatwoods Monster of Braxton County and Point Pleasant's Mothman.
On June 16, 1964, hell broke loose in Grafton, West Virginia, a sleepy town on the Tygart Valley River. Excitement here normally came by railroad rather than lurching out of the forest but for the small town, they would have their own monster legend that would not leave a single footprint yet its encounters are still talked about in hushed tones when night falls.

Deaths of entire families was occuring at an epidemic rate in New England during the beginning of the 19th century. Though much of the deaths was blamed on consumption, there were cases strangely bizarre enough that the community believed there was more going on.
Newspapers of the time used the phrase 'vampire' for these deaths, likely influenced by the vampire beliefs in parts of Eastern Europe. The 'New England vampires' would feed off the life force of their family members from beyond the grave psychically, rather than being conducted by walking undead creatures of the night. The resulting deaths would be the same and the effects would spread through the community creating the Vampire Panic.
Some of the most famous believed of these New England Vampires include the Manchester Vampire, Nellie Vaughan, and the most famous case of American Vampirism, Mercy Brown.

Bladenboro is a small community surrounded by pine forests and swamps at the southeastern edge of the North Carolina piedmont. A lot of the county is made up of large forests and swampland, a perfect environment for bears, deer, bobcats and just about any other type of beast. It was also the setting for the greatest strings of monster attacks during 1953-54 that the state has ever known.
One eyewitness described the animal as "about four and a half feet long, bushy, and resembling either a bear or a panther". Whatever it was, it was responsible for the deaths of over a half dozen dogs which all were found ripped apart yet devoid of any blood.

On the night of February 21, 1977, there would be an incident so incredibly tragic and extremely horrific discovered within the city of Chicago that even the stalwart citizens would have to take notice.
Firefighters called in for an apartment fire would uncover a nude body beneath a burning mattress in the living room of her apartment with a knife buried in her chest.
The case lingered on for months afterwards with the lack of any motive or evidence until the case took a truly paranormal turn that would astound the police and the city of Chicago.

Coulrophobia is the irrational fear of clowns. People experience extreme cases of anxiety, a racing heart, nausea and profuse sweating. Most people can avoid clowns. Some need exposure therapy, a type of psychotherapy, to help manage their reactions to clowns and clown images.
There is supposedly nothing to be afraid of but what if there is something instinctual about our fear of those in the brightly colored clothes and facepaint. Perhaps it is a survial instinct meant to protect us from something darker.
The related urban legend of evil clown sightings in real life is known as "phantom clowns". First reported in 1981 in Brookline, Massachusetts, children said that men dressed up as clowns had attempted to lure them into a van. The panic spread throughout the US in the Midwest and Northeast.

Hawaiian oral history has it that many centuries ago, a mischievous group of small people lives hidden in the forests and valleys of the islands even before the first settlers arrived from Polynesia. These people, who roamed the deep forests at night, are said to be only two feet tall, though some were as tiny as six inches small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. They enjoyed dancing, singing and archery, and their favorite foods were bananas and fish.
According to local lore, they are smart, extremely strong and excellent craftsmen. They are rarely seen by human eyes, and they are credited with mighty feats of engineering and overnight construction. Even today, there are reports of sightings within the forests of Hawaii.

Within the forests outside of Rhinelander, Wisconsin resides a fearsome beast described as having "the head of a frog, the grinning face of a giant elephant, thick short legs set off by huge claws, the back of a dinosaur, and a long tail with spears at the end".
In 1896, Eugene "Gene" Shepherd would search and capture one to display at the Oneida County Fair to the amazement of 1000s of spectators. This would lead to a love affair between the town of Rhinelander and the creature.

Victorian England was overcrowded and in the midst of an Industrial Revolution. As fears of the mechanized future hung heavy on the minds of the people of London, something else was prowling the shadows.
This boogeyman was a fire-breathing demon able to leap unnaturally high over walls and accross courtyards. At the end of the 1960s, Frank Hansen was making the rounds on the State Fair circuit. He was exhibiting a man-like creature covered in hair and frozen in a block of ice. At times, he would claim that the creature had been discovered in Siberia, while other times, that it was found by Japanese fishing boat floating in the sea.
It was so realistic that noted scientists, Ivan Sanderson and Bernard Heuvelmans declared it was a genuine "missing link", a bigfoot creature.
Eventually, Hansen decided to write the "true story" in his own words.

Built by the Spanish in St. Augustine to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route, Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fortification in the continental United States.
Its long history includes battles against pirates, British military, hostile native tribes which has left numerous unmarked graves on the grounds. On September 12, 1952 a bright red orb crossed the night sky. It would lead a single mother and group of boys to investigate. They would discover a creature unlike any other described before. In April of 1973, there would be the beginning of encounters with a bizarre creature in the small town of Enfield, Illinois. It was described as being 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall, two hundred pounds, with tiny arms sticking out of the front of its chest and (most shocking) having only three legs.
This creature would terrorize the neighborhood by attacking children and attempting to break into homes. It is still unidentified to this day.

In 1997 NOAA recorded a mysterious underwater sound louder than anything previously recorded. It's rhythm resembled an organic sea creature but larger than anything previously discovered. Ohio is among the top five states in bigfoot cases. This is thought to be because of the widespread forest areas, multiple acres of farmlands, and numerous lakes and streams.
