The Sports Dime
Carolina TeagueCarolina has been passionate about sports from a young age growing up in the south side of Chicago and watched every Chicago Bulls game during their 90’s championship run. In her early teen years, her family relocated to San Antonio where she has resided since. Her passion with debating sports against others in life benefitted her tremendously when she decided to try out for a local sports radio competition and won. After beating over 150 people for a spot on the air, Carolina was able to bring her passion for sports to the forefront. Carolina has grown fond of local boxing, a huge community in San Antonio. They have embraced her completely and she has been able to interview two boxing world-champions, Mario Barrios and Joshua Franco. She is also a member of Galvanize life, a group of women in sports media, and has been able to interview Buffalo Bills rookies under the guidance of Emmy-award winning reporter Laura Okmin. Carolina is an intern at Sports2nite, a local media platform supporting women and has allowed Carolina to cover the San Antonio Spurs. She also writes for www.sportsastoldbyagirl.com, a sports blog website that allows women in sports media to showcase their writing abilities. Carolina has filled in at sports radio countless times at other stations, been a guest in various nationwide podcasts, and does her own livestream to interact with the people she loves the most, her listeners.
Carolina’s biggest passion is in sports media and is excited to host a show with Rudy Campos. She will be the first woman to host a sports radio show in San Antonio since 2011.
Besides those things, Carolina loves spending quality time with her fiancé and two kids, cooking YouTube recipes, and exercising.

From 1982 to 1985, forward Derrick Gervin set many university records that would remain unbroken for years. As a student athlete Gervin scored 1,691 career points. In his sophomore year he scored an average of 23.2 points per game and was ranked the second-highest sophomore scorer in the country.
Though several of Gervin’s records fell this year [2002], many still stand, including most points per season (718); most points by halftime (31); most field goals per game (22), season (272), and career (651); and highest rebound average in a season (9.6), and career (8.5).
The athletics program at UTSA was just a year old in 1982. With Gervin playing, the program took off. By 1985 UTSA basketball had received statewide recognition and a lot of national exposure.
The Philadelphia 76ers picked Gervin at the end of his junior year in the fourth round of the 1985 NBA draft, but he was cut at the end of camp. Though he never played for Philadelphia, Gervin played for the New Jersey Nets from 1989 to 1991 and went on to establish a long-running career with a host of teams worldwide (Italy, Turkey, Spain, Israel, Argentina, Venezuela, Philippines, and Mexico). Closer to home, he played for the Continental Basketball League and the ABA2000.
Today, Gervin says he has retired and has plans to finish his undergraduate degree here at UTSA. He works at the George Gervin Youth Center in San Antonio teaching job preparation skills to young adults.

I surrendered my life over to Jesus at age 15. 2 weeks after getting baptized, I got on a plane to Shreveport Louisiana, went to high school there. Got a full basketball scholarship to Baylor University. We won a national championship in 2005, I was the MVP. Got drafted to the San Antonio stars where I played for 10 seasons. Now I am nominated to be in the Texas Hall of Fame.
Sophia lives in SA with her husband a 2 beautiful kids. The reason why I wanted to enter real estate is because I believe in the Family. I believe that having a home where you know you belong to makes such a difference in who we are as people. Born and raised in northern California, Summer lived in the pool. Inspired by her brother Trevor, she joined the team at age 4 and never looked back. Although she did cry on the blocks of her first race, that was when she first learned to push through the fear in order to truly feel the accomplishment. That sense of accomplishment became her motivation for every facet of life.
Summer went on to earn a swimming scholarship to Stanford University and back-to- back NCAA Swimmer of the Year awards in only 2 years as a collegiate swimmer. Her prize accomplishment was being a part of the 1992 National Championship team with Stanford. That summer at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Sanders emerged as the most decorated U.S. swimmer, winning four medals – two gold, a silver, and a bronze. Soon after, she shifted her passion to television.
Her now 25-year television career began with CBS Sports and MTV, hosting a show called Sandblast. She has gone on to work for every major network and news program: Today Show, Good Morning America and Rachael Ray where she was a special correspondent, ABC and NBC as the co-host of NBA’s Inside Stuff and Nickelodeon as the host of the cult favorite ‘90’s game show Figure It Out.
She has worked 9 Olympic Games as a commentator, reporter and host. She hosted Fox’s reality show Skating with Celebrities and The Sports List and was a part of Lifetime’s groundbreaking WNBA crew including Michelle Tafoya, Reggie Miller and Meghan Pattyson. She had the guts to enter the world of reality television as a contestant for her charity, Right To Play, on Celebrity Apprentice and Guy vs Rachael Celebrity Cook-Off. She currently co-hosts CBS Sports Net’s award winning “We Need To Talk.” She is also the author of “Champions Are Raised, Not Born: How My Parents Made Me a Success.”
On the personal side of life, her proudest titles are that of mom and wife. She is married to a fellow Olympian, from the frozen side of water, Erik Schlopy, who competed in 3 Olympic Games in alpine skiing. Together they have 2 children, Skye, 11, and Spider, 10. Her most frequently asked question is not What was it like being in the Olympics but What will your kids be, skiers or swimmers? They are fully aware that the answer to that question is out of their hands.
Summer is incredibly passionate about giving back and has been a part of her humanitarian love, Right To Play, for over 20 years and is on their US Board of Directors. She was also a strong supporter of the USA Swimming Foundation’s mission of teaching every kid in the USA to swim.

Jill Jenick Bio:
Born and raised in Aliso Viejo, California, I grew up outdoors and always as part of a team. While I loved playing basketball and soccer, my true passion was softball. I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to play Div. I softball for East Carolina University, and in the summer of 2010, I packed my bags and traded sunny southern California for a glass of North Carolina sweet tea. While playing softball for the Pirates, I received my Bachelors in English and my Masters in Teaching at ECU. Now that I have finished my collegiate career, I am turning to my other passion: sports broadcasting.
After graduation, I was offered a job at WNCT, the CBS affiliate in Greenville in both the news and sports departments. During my time at Channel 9, I was a sports reporter and sports anchor, as well as the weekend news producer. I was one of the top reporters for our highly acclaimed high school football show “Touchdown Friday,” and I was also the producer of our Sunday night sports show “The Final Score.”

About Rudy Campos Jr. & Carolina Teague
Rudy Campos Jr. Rudy has been passionate for sports since his early childhood. Born and raised in San Antonio, Tx, he would watch every sporting event possible. From his San Antonio Spurs to watching NFL all day on Sundays with his dad, Rudy made it known he wanted to cover sports for a living. Becoming a diehard fan of every major sport, his passion grew stronger each season. Rudy credits his dad for becoming a San Francisco Giants fan, Tommy Nobis for becoming an Atlanta Falcons fan and Dean Smith for becoming a UNC Tar Heels fan. Rudy has made several appearances on local as well as national podcasts, all while maintaining his own brand know as Sweep The League. Making one in studio appearance with a local sports radio show but a frequent caller on others in the past, Rudy used these platforms to work hard to achieve his goal of being on the air weekly.
When not covering sports, Rudy loves spending time with his wife and daughter as well as his family. As an avid bowler, he loves be around his bowling family as well. Never shy away from Rudy when it comes to talking about sports. His takes are what makes everyone tune in all the time!!
Carolina Teague Carolina has been passionate about sports from a young age growing up in the south side of Chicago and watched every Chicago Bulls game during their 90’s championship run. In her early teen years, her family relocated to San Antonio where she has resided since. Her passion with debating sports against others in life benefitted her tremendously when she decided to try out for a local sports radio competition and won. After beating over 150 people for a spot on the air, Carolina was able to bring her passion for sports to the forefront. Carolina has grown fond of local boxing, a huge community in San Antonio. They have embraced her completely and she has been able to interview two boxing world-champions, Mario Barrios and Joshua Franco. She is also a member of Galvanize life, a group of women in sports media, and has been able to interview Buffalo Bills rookies under the guidance of Emmy-award winning reporter Laura Okmin. Carolina is an intern at Sports2nite, a local media platform supporting women and has allowed Carolina to cover the San Antonio Spurs. She also writes for www.sportsastoldbyagirl.com, a sports blog website that allows women in sports media to showcase their writing abilities. Carolina has filled in at sports radio countless times at other stations, been a guest in various nationwide podcasts, and does her own livestream to interact with the people she loves the most, her listeners.
Carolina’s biggest passion is in sports media and is excited to host a show with Rudy Campos. She will be the first woman to host a sports radio show in San Antonio since 2011.
Besides those things, Carolina loves spending quality time with her fiancé and two kids, cooking YouTube recipes, and exercising.
