Fear impacts our thinking and decision-making in negative ways, leaving us open to intense emotions and impulsive reactions. It is one of the biggest reasons for fatigue and depression. It influence the brains chemistry, which in turn produce less Serotonin, dopamine and nor-epinephine. These chemicals influence part of the brain that regulate fear, memory and emotions. Low levels makes it highly sensitive and unpredictable. Doctors will give medicine which will help but there is a better way.

The word Philosophy comes from two Greek words. Phileo which means love and Sophia which means wisdom. This means a love for wisdom. There are two kinds of wisdom in the world. Which one is Paul warning against?
Paul is in agony thinking of this church. A different agony from what we normally experience. He want them to be encouraged and knit together in love - let's discover this.
Paul calls himself a minister of the Word in this passage. We look at his task and his goal. We listen to him as he describe his labor and gain important insight into why he is so successful. How does this apply to us?
Today certain people are dethroning Christ by giving Him prominence and not preeminence.
Thanksgiving and prayer is very important to your Christian life. Paul write to this church and explain to them what he is praying for them to have. He say"that you might walk worthy of the Lord. Oh Lord help us to do this as we do not have it in us to do this.
We start with Colossians today and look at Paul's greeting, thanksgiving and prayer. We ask why this letter? Look at the city, the Church and the Crisis. We are in the same situation today as back then.
There are a lot of needs within the church. I'm not talking about cleaning jobs in church. There are people hurting and need help. They might not say it but their cry is "Help". How do you do it? This is what we are looking at this Sunday. How can I help my brother and sister in church.
We're back! 2018 is already in full swing. Many people will return this week to their homes, families and jobs. This is the same with the church family. We will be looking at essentials you need to take with you into this year. This is no New Years resolutions, rather a concrete start based on your faith in God.
What happen after this life? Ask this around today and you'll get different answers. Some believe in reincarnation others in soul sleep and still others in extinguishing who you are. Will you go to heaven, hell or purgatory? What is paradise? We open the Bible tomorrow in search for answers to these questions.
We talk about prayer tomorrow - who better to talk to us than "old camel knees" himself. James describe four situations in which God answer our prayers.
James 5:7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. 8 Â You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Â Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! 10 Â My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. 11 Â Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord--that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. 12 Â But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes," be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment.
We are told to lay aside filthiness and wickedness and receive with a teachable spirit the Word of God. People don't want to. They want to say a lot but do nothing.
We are starting a new study through the book of James. This is not a popular book to preach as it address practical Christian living and is convicting. We address certain characteristics of Christian living completing the following phrase "A mature Christian......" Tomorrow we will complete it with "Is patient in testing times"
We look at the white Throne judgement, the thousand year reign of Christ on the earth and complete chapter 20
They would not Bow, they would not Bend, they would not Burn. Subtitle: How to keep your cool when the heat is on.
A dictionary will explain faithful as someone who show themselves faithful in the transaction of business or the execution of commands and even in the discharge of official duties. This is someone who can be relied on. - This is hard to come by these days. The whole society is based on mistrusts strive and troubles. Now we read about the rider on the white horse in Revelation 9 and He is called Faithful. He is also called True. In this sense it is not just a resemblance of truth but the real nature that correspond with the name.
We see a vivid description of the last 3 and half years of the great tribulation. Things people don't want to hear. How does this apply to our lives?
We see and angel flying through the sky preaching the Gospel and saying Fear God and give Glory to Him.
Rev 13:11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. We are dealing with the un-holy trinity. Satan set himself up as the father, will influence a man to rule a super nation as the anti-chrits (this is the state) and operate through the false spirit operating as the Holy Spirit in the form of the false prophet. We look behind the scenes to identify this individual which will have the whole world in the palms of his hand.
Revelation 13 describe the ant-christ. We find interesting information here and compare that to the Un-holy Trinity.
We see a war in heaven between Micheal and the Dragon. I explain the signs of the woman, dragon and man Child.
We study Revelation Chapter 11. John is asked to measure three things then we see the appearance of the two witnesses and discover their purpose.
We look at a description of a blessed life. The Psalmist give a clear understanding in the first Psalm. We also look at Psalm 19 and allow the Word to bless us.
And he said to me, "Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth." John ate the little scroll and tasted sweet but was bitter on his stomach. Why? We will start with the last verses of Rev 9 and discuss what repentance and confession means.
Revelation 9 gives us a description of two armies that is going to be let loose on the earth. One army is coming from the pit and the other from the east. One brings torment and the other death. Who are they targeting and will you be able to hide? We look at their descriptions and how it play a part of end times.
We are reading about the seventh seal that is opened. This leads into a quietness in heaven for 1/2 hour before the trumpets are sounded. Friend earth will not be a place where you want to be when this happen. There is catastrophic events coming.
This is one of the most discussed passages in Revelation. Who is the 144 000 mentioned here? The Word is clear yet so many bend it to fit their Theology. We get clarity on this and much more....
We look at the last two seal opened in chapter 6. There is two groups of people represented in the 5th and 6th seal. Martyrs and people on the earth during the tribulation. The one groups cry is "Avenge us" whilst the others cry out "Hide us". The chapter end with a question "who is able to withstand?"
John was asked 4 times in Chapter 6 to "come and see". He saw four horses, each with a message. We are looking at each one of these horses and how they will fit into the future. There is an expectancy in the world that something is about to happen. It is like the calm before a storm. The Lord graciously give us a peek into what is to come. The pattern from Cpt onward is 4 then 3. Four things happen on the earth and three things in heaven behind the scenes. Chapter 6 is the start of the opening of the 7 seals. This is the start of the seven year tribulation on the earth. There is also Trumpet and bowls that sound and are poured out in this seven years. We ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as we go from this point and reveal to us things to come.
Peter write the following statement at the start of his epistle "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" There is so much in this passage and we will look at them. The one that stand out this year in remembering the Cross of Christ is the living hope. There are three words I will unpack tomorrow - all flowing from the Cross - Faith, Hope and Love. God bless John Shipman Join us at www.kingswaycf.com
Fantastic sermon explaining that all scripture is important and how to interpret it. A must hear message for our time.
We are in the throne room of God in Chapter 4 and 5 of Revelation. John just explained the throne, 24 elders and 4 beasts. The his focus turn to a hand holding a scroll. One of the elders ask him "Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose it's seals?" This cause John to weep bitterly. Why? We see a new song sang by the elders. We discover this and much more
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. Revelation 4:1. John saw a door in heaven and is invited to go up. What he see is absolutely , like they say, mind blowing. We discover what heaven look like. We see where the church is and who is gathered there. What an amazing picture. www.kingswaycf.com
Laodicea - the lukewarm church. This church describe our day today. Look around you at churches and see. They proclaim to be rich and wealthy and is in need of nothing, yet are poor and miserable. The name of this church mean - people rule and again is evident of our times. It is no longer a Theocracy but has been replaced by popular opinion manifested in democracy. Jesus has a stern word for them. He stand at the door and knock. This is so true today that we have churches where Jesus is no longer welcome. Listen to the sermons and songs. Pop groups are jumping up and down on the stage and is trying to make a name for themselves. We have charismatic pastors who engage crowds in narcissistic talks all about themselves and how good they are. One of the most frustrated things to have is too much of Jesus to enjoy the world and too much of the world to enjoy Jesus - think about it. Where is the fellowship?
We are looking at the faithful church in Philadelphia. This is the Church with the open door. Their is a little strength in this church and the key to this strength is the Word of God. This is so evident of our day. There is no complaints about this Church. This is also the only Church where Jesus did not pick a description of Him in Chapter one as His title. Why? What is this open door that is set before them? We look at that and many more.
We are looking at Sardis, the dead church. This is so true to a lot of churches today. A form of Godliness but lost the power thereof. What happened that this church found itself in this stage?
We are looking at the fourth church in Revelation chapter 2 - Thyatira. This is the corrupt church and gives a warning to the church in large today. The danger of Gnosticism is on display here. Corruption is dangerous and is deeply hidden, same as the parable in Mat 13.
This Church - like many churches today - were flirting with corruption and immorality. One can say that we have in front of us in the scripture a graphic example of the spirit of the world entering the church. This has led to a watered down message preached without any conviction of sin. The enemy - Satan has two weapons he use against the church - intimidation and enticement. The one drive people away from Christ through fear and the other trough lust. This is how you get corrupt practices and corrupt preaching. This is explained in the text referring to Balaam who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel. Still happening today. We explore this and compare this passage with the parable of the mustard seed in Mat 13.
The name Smyrna means myrrh and is a fragrance spice taken from the bark of myrrh trees. This bark is crushed an produce the fragrant used at burials. This is so fitting for the church that was based there. This church - like the bark were crushed through severe persecution for their faith. In fact once a year the people had to go to the Emperor temple and say "Caesar is lord" or if not "Jesus is Lord". This caused incredible persecution against the church. Not only that. The Jews also persecuted the Christians. They infiltrated the church as believers just to expose and give them over to the authorities to be killed. Compare this to the second parable in Mat 13 talking about the wheat and tares and you get the idea. Now in the midst of this Jesus pick a fitting title to address them. This says He who is the first and the last. Who was dead and is alive....Oh! there is so much here to encourage us.
We're approaching one of the most exciting and systematic passages in the book of Revelation. The dispensation of Grace or as we know it the Church age. We will discover where this age starts and where it will end. Starting with the church in Ephesus compared with the first parable in Matthew 13, will lead us on an amazing discovery of how active our Lord is in His church.
John turned and saw One like the Son of Man. We look at how he describe Jesus. Remember John saw Him incarnated, resurrected, crucified and now ascended. This is how you and I will see Him. We unpack verses 9 - 20
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. Revelation 1:7 This scripture point toward a specific time in the future. We discover this and much more from these 9 verses. I will discuss what the seven Spirits before the throne means in verse 4. We will discover the instruction given to John to write this prophesy. God Bless
We are starting the new year with a study of the book Revelation. So timely with everything happening in the world. Let me remind you that this is the only book promising a blessing for the one who read it. Verse 3 "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and those who keep those things which are written in it" It amazes me then that there are many who reject this book. I will start with an introduction and discuss the first 3 verses. Then Sunday after Sunday go through verse by verse. You are welcome to join or listen online - God Bless.
I find no scripture anywhere in the Bible that we need to remember or celebrate Christ's birth - no where. So why are we doing it? I don't see any of us bringing our baby photos when we celebrate our birthdays - yet have the nativity scene everywhere this time of the year. (Inaccurate may I say) Santa Clause and St Nicolas has been promoted to have equal value than Jesus this time of the year. Parents keep on telling their children lies about the gifts they buy for them saying "Santa is bringing them if they are good". Same as the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. I know, I know it is all part of the fun. (But is still a lie and make Santa this mystical figure which you don't see yet have the same power as Jesus) I celebrate Christ's birth but not on Christmas! I celebrate it everyday. I remember the one thing Rabbi Jesus told me to remember - The Communion table. Our sins were set free at that Cross. I will do an exposition on Isaiah 9:6.
Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life, he who die will live" What does this mean today? See how He answer Martha and Mary and get faith from that.
John record seven miracles of Jesus. He start at a wedding and end at a funeral. The central message in both miracles is that God be glorified. Underlining that is the central theme of John to build faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. At Cana His disciples believed in Him and at Bethany that faith is strengthened.
There is still much more to take in from this passage, so come join us as we take a walk with Jesus through this miracle.
A man has been excommunicated from the synagogue. Listen to Jesus as He take on the religious leaders in this epic discussion about True and False shepherds. We look at the Shepherd through the eyes of the sheep then hear what He has to say about Himself. What does all of this mean to you? You are welcome to come and visit us and/or follow us on www.kingswaycf.com
The disciples ask an interesting question. Who sinned caused this mans blindness? There are still people believing in generational punishment and curses. Let's discover what the Bible says. We will also see that there are many blind people in the world today.
Importance of being people of the Word - Br. Chris Sandford - 6 Nov 2016 by Pastor. John Shipman
What is life? Very good question and I belief everyone will have their own answer. What about his one? An opportunity for investment. We find three very interesting stories clustered together in Luke chapter 15 and 16. This demonstrate three types of life we can live. 1. The wasted life 2. the spent life and 3 the invested life. There are very interesting lessons we can learn from. We learn that the one thing you will sin for is your master and Jesus say you can not follow two masters. You are welcome to come and visit in person or follow us on facebook. God Bless
We look at the prayer Paul prayed for the church in Colosse. This teach a lot about prayer.
We find ourselves from time to time in different places - good or bad. Each one of these places makes an impression on us. We look at one such place in this sermon. A place of living water and how it influence each one of us.
Jesus makes an important statement here. Standing in the temple where they just finished celebrating the feast of booths. Every night they lid two huge menorahs. This illuminated the courtyard of the temple and symbolised the fire at night which gave them direction through the wilderness. Jesus makes this statement indicating the He is the substance of the symbols of the Old testament. We are looking at his and two reasons why people continue to walk in darkness.
There are many opinions about the passage where an adulteress is thrown in front of Jesus to judge her. Some belief it should not be in the Bible and others say it should. I believe we will learn valuable lessons from it. They asked for judgement, He gave Grace and Truth! That is His ministry.
Jesus cried out "come unto me and drink". This He spoke about the Holy Spirit that concerning the Holy Spirit. Now listen to this. Will flow out of his heart. The Holy Spirit will flow out of our hearts. Now, what does this mean? How did the Spirit come into us? How does the Spirit work according to the scriptures? This sermon will test your traditional thoughts. I will explain three prepositions of the Spirit.
Jesus said to the Jews, People and inhabitants of Jerusalem, you will seek Me and not find Me. Why would Jesus say these words to the people? We look into this and discover that the world has not changed that much. It is the same today. The same words of Jesus is still valid for today. People will seek Him and not find Him.... what on earth?
What is Jesus saying with these words. We're looking at this statement in context and apply it t our study of John 7. Why is it that He brings a message of peace but it cause so much trouble in today's life? You are welcome to come and visit www.kingswaycf.com
John 1:17 is our intro into finishing John Chapter 6 today. There is the difference between the law brought in by Moses and Grace and Truth that came through Jesus. There are a lot of people who want to live under law, yet more that enjoy the Grace of God still plenty that do not want to hear the truth. Grace and Truth can't be separated.
Bless the Lord, oh, my soul. and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Excellent sermon on the seriousness of worshipping God.
Br. Colm Dole give us a teaching from 1 Corinthians 15. The Gospel is not just a story. These two verses is most probably the first
John 6:66 is one of the saddest verses in the Bible. From that time these disciples turned back and walked no more with Jesus. What would cause this? There is a specific reason we will discuss but there are many other reasons we see in our lifetime today. We are looking at the profiles of people walking away from Christ then discuss how salvation start. Do we choose to be saved or is it something God does?
Seeking Jesus. This is what the world need. To seek Jesus. We know we are living in a world where people don't seek Him any longer. Our generation has grown used to live their lives without seeking Jesus. Then you find the group who are seeking but why? Why do some people seek Him? The next passage in our study address that. We will look into this tomorrow.
The Disciples is in the darkest hour of their lives. Certain death stare them in the face. The wind is howling, the waves beating into the little boat. Everything is against them. They take three rows forward and get blown four rows back. They're tired, weak and worn. A ghost appeared - or so they thought. Fear grabbed their hearts. Then those familiar voice with the words "It is I, do not be afraid". We explore this and find-out that we are also in the sea of life.
We see Jesus in this situation. There are thousands of people and no food. What would Jesus do? We see his reaction and what we can learn from this. See a few peoples reactions to this.
A witness is a person who testifies, especially in a court of law, to events or facts within his own knowledge. Things he might or might not have seen. The Jews is not happy that Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath and then made Himself equal with the Father. So what authority does He have t do this? We'll discover the witnesses to His Authority.
Jesus mention a resurrection of life and a resurrection of condemnation. We look at this and find out which one will be the best to be part of. It is clear that there are two with different timings and judgements.
John write this in verse 16 of chapter 5. What reason? This is a miracle. Why would the Jews persecute Jesus. This is more than just a miracle story. It is a look into what religion do. The sad fact at the end of this is this man reject Jesus. There are three people we are looking at: Compassionate Jesus, Contempt of the Jews and complacency of this man.
You hear so many people quote this verse. So easy, but do you really know what it means? We will put this back in context and then explore 4 tests to Faith. One: Are what you are doing for the Glory of God? Two: Are you willing to wait? Three: Is what you are doing grounded in the Word? Four: Is what you are doing giving you Peace and Joy? We explore all of this.
Jesus said these words to a nobleman. This man came to Jesus because his son was dying. I wonder what you world do if you were in his shoes and Jesus give you this answer. He is desperate and teach us a few things in our time of need. Come listen what he did and why.
You listen to people talking about Jesus. Telling their testimonies. You've heard the sermons, week after week. The question is have you heard yourself from Him? What does this even mean? We answer this looking at the response from these Samaritans. There is 2 kinds of faith described in this passage - Saving faith and testimony based faith. What is the difference?
We find Jesus encountering a Samaritan woman at a well. They were deemed half breed people by the Jews for them mixing with Assyrians. This sermon take you to the origin of the Samaritans. Jesus break through every reasoning of Religion in order to bring this woman to Christ. We have the same in our lifetime where people know Jesus either as a Jew, Great man, Prophet or Christ.
Jealousy, we are addressing this issue. It is something that touch everyone. Two words comes to mind when we read John 3:26. Envy and jealousy. There is a difference between them and appear both in this verse. Envy is that unhappy angry feeling of wanting what others has. Jealousy on the other hand is the fear of loosing something you have to someone else. We look at four ways you will know you are jealous and deal with them in a biblical way.
There are many different baptisms mentioned in the Bible. One of the most controversial ones is the water baptism. This is not new as we see in our text John 3:25 that a dispute happened around this subject. We unpack this and discover four water baptisms throughout the Bible. What does this mean for us today?
Jesus is talking about being born - again with one of the Pharisees, called Nicodemus. A Jew with a Greek name. Nicodemus ask a question which a lot of people are still asking today. "How can these things be?" Come listen live or online when we discuss the sayings and questions of Nicodemus.
