NAC@Home is the brand new weekly podcast from Newhampton Arts Centre and is your one stop for all things creative; theatre, music, comedy and just about anything else that you can think of. NAC@Home airs every Monday evening at 6.45pm on Wolverhampton’s local radio station WCR 101.8.FM. Expect interviews with artists and NAC residents, as well as entertainment, boredom breakers, NAC updates and news, plus much more along the way!

We are hitting the pause button on our podcast, whilst we concentrate on our delivering our NAC programme.
Our NAC CEO Trevelyan Wright joins us for a look back on what we have achieved with NAC@Home. Our podcast highlights and tells us more about you can expect from the next few months here at the arts centre, including new ventures for NAC and our future events.

To tie in with our recent announcement of our new venture in cinema is this special film edition of NAC@Home. In September our NAC courtyard will be transformed into Wolverhampton’s open aired community cinema. Find out what film we are kick starting our brand new socially distanced cinema with and exactly what you can expect from NAC’s Courtyard Cinema. There may even be some hidden clues for our programme in this specially dedicated episode.
We have been busy here at NAC, working with resident youth theatre groups Stagecoach and Central Youth Theatre to make their summer activities programmes a reality. Both drama groups have safely and successfully deviled their socially distanced workshops using our outdoor spaces.

This week’s guest is Phil Rose, well known on the local jazz scene for being a key member of organisations like Birmingham Jazz and Jazz West Midlands.
In the absence of live Jazz across our region, Jazz West Midlands have commissioned a number of performances for everybody to enjoy online. Join us for this Jazz special, where we find out more about what new digital performances we can look forward to and how you can get involved and support the project, plus some finely selected tunes from Phil himself.
This week we interview Renna Tailor Panchal from Bollywood Dream Dance. Renna is well known in our city of Wolverhampton for providing her fun and additive Bollywood style dance classes at here at NAC. Throughout lockdown she has provided free interactive sessions via Facebook Live and is now just about to launch her online summer course via Zoom. Get ready as we talk dance, bollywood, fitness and well-being in this episode of NAC@Home.
This week’s special quest is artist, dancer, and entertainer Sohan Kailey. Newhampton Arts Centre visitors will know Sohan for his Bhangra Kids and Bhangra Tot’s dance classes, previously featured in our NAC summer activities programme and community lead events like Wolverhampton’s Fun palaces.
Lockdown has not stopped Sohan delivering these fun dance classes, taking his Bhangra tots adventures online, performing live through Facebook from his home studio for early years and families to enjoy. The recording artist has also been busy releasing his new album ‘Let's Naach’ a collection of funky music for family to enjoy and get active too. We talk to Sohan about this latest music video project and the importance of well being and keeping fit during lockdown.
This week we catch up with our very own NAC Site Manager Chris Brown, as well as been responsible for putting on live shows at Newhampton Arts Centre, Chris is also a musician himself and during lockdown he has become better known as the COVID Cowboy, sharing his one man band music videos across You Tube and Facebook.
We are eager to find out more about the project COVID Cowboy. We will also be talking all about Chris’ hard work behind the scenes here at NAC and what progress has been made for the return of live music to our venue.
Svenja Jinman join us once more, this time to tell us about a Virtual Family Festival that she has been very busy organising. Many Wolverhampton and West Midlands organiastions have now got involved, all offering family friendly workshops and children's actvivites to create a full day of interactive fun for you and your family.
The day long event will be streamed live through their Facebook group on Sunday 2nd August 9.15am till 5pm.
Jazz at Wolverhampton is supported by Arts Council England and has been developing a diverse programme of Jazz participation and performance across our city. In recent years Jazz at Wolverhampton have worked closely together with staff here at Newhampton Arts Centre, putting on a programme of Jazz shows in a new venture called Jazz at NAC.
The response to programme has been fantastic, drawing large crowds and bringing world-class jazz musicians to the NAC stage and to Jazz lovers across the Midlands. We now talk to Steve Evans from Jazz at Wolverhampton to find out about the current state of Jazz at NAC and what is happening in the scene across the Midlands.
In this episode of NAC@Home we interviewed singer/songwriter Dan Whitehouse. The Birmingham based musician as played many gigs at NAC over recent years including a collaborative set with Boo Hewerdine, his own headlines shows and even a song writing workshop for our Folk at the NAC programme.
Dan has just released a new live mini album ‘Dreamland Live’ with a full LP entitled ‘Dreamland Tomorrow’ released earlier this May. The two releases take on a darker and more experimental approach, with remarkable list of collaborators including BBC Jazz Award winning Saxophonist Xhosa Cole who played NAC earlier this year.

On episode seven of #NAC@Home we will be hearing from Music promoter Dave Brookes in a new Folk at the NAC segment and Steven Johnstone from Black Country Touring, the company that has brought so many live theatre shows to NAC over the years.
Music promoter, Dave Brookes is the man behind Folk at the NAC. Dave has been running Folk at the NAC for over 10 years and will tell us more about what these current times mean to the club and what we can look forward to at Folk at the NAC.
We also talk to Steven Johnstone fromBlack Country Touring. BCT have brought many live theatre performances to our theatre over the years, delighting NAC audiences. The performing arts and live theatre have been deeply affected by current affairs, but this has not stopped live theatre, with the creatively, determination from companies like Black Country Touring, and the passionate individuals in these companies who have been working hard behind the scenes to keep the magic of live theatre alive.
On episode six of NAC@Home we talk to Councillor John Reynolds about the how the WV Holiday Squad has gone digital, packed full of ideas about how you can keep your children active, entertained and amused at home. We will also be catching up with Zoe Williams, who is well known here at NAC with her Zest for Pilates classes, Zoe is now offering these classes online.
In the absence of the WV Holiday Squad over the school holidays, Wolverhampton City Council have created the WV Virtual Squad. Lots of partners from across the city are getting involved, including NAC to offer online some great activities and educational resources for children, young people and families to access whilst staying safe at home. Plus support for children, young people and families at this testing time. We also catch up with Zoe Williams, instructor of the much-loved Zest for Pilates class, which usually runs at Newhampton Arts Centre. Zoe is now offering online classes, where you can improve flexibility, tone your body and strengthen muscles direct from your home.
On episode five of NAC@Home we will be talk to Svenja Jinman from Wolverhampton’s diddi dance, the funky pre-school dance class for girls and boys that is now bringing live online sessions direct into your living room! We will also be talking to Tom Amphlett from the future sounds project, a music promotion company well known for bringing you the very best music from across the West Midlands scene.
Svenja Jinman from Wolverhampton’s diddi dance, tells us his new online sessions which is proving to be a great way to keep a fun routine providing lots of exercise and entertainment for your diddie dancer, whilst continuing their all-important development at home. Tom Amphlett and his brother are the co-owners of the future sounds project. The brotherly music promotion duo have put on a number of gigs here at NAC, with a few more on the horizon.

Melissa Nicholls from NichoFitPT has the perfect the for those who are getting tired of sitting on the sofa. Offering a personal online experience to get fit and stay safe during lock down! We also Talk to artist Ewan Johnson who talks about PACK, an artist lead exhibition platform that is bringing the Midlands creative community together and showcasing their works.

This week we have been talking to our own resident artist Hannah Boyd, as she talks about her recent move into the digital world with Hannah’s online art classes. We also catch up with Take A Bow Drama group who are based at NAC to see what creative response they have had to the current situation and to see if these times how we can still connect with a little bit of creativity.
Hannah Boyd is a Wolverhampton based artist who takes residence at Newhampton Arts Centre. In her studio known as Art Room, Hannah develops her own art practice as well as offering a wide range of art classes. In response to COVID-19 has Hannah as recently taken her classes into the virtual world, with both figurative and watercolours classes on offer online. Find out more about here courses here.
We will also be talking to Jessica Labhart from Take a Bow drama. The very active drama group made up of around 20 members who have a range of learning disabilities is based at Newhampton Arts Centre. The Take a Bow group cast, create and perform their own productions all across West Midlands. On this episode we chat to Jessica to find out find out what the group has been up to since lockdown and how the group are still active after NAC’s closure due to CVOID-19.

We will be talking to Central Youth Theatre founding director, MBE Jane Ward. The Youth theatre company have been based in Newhampton Arts Centre have been nurturing the creative talents of future generations of performers and creative professionals for the last 35 years. Today we catch up with Jane to find about the #Fourwalls project that is keeping CYT members busy through lockdown.
Amy Whitteris also joins us from Fit Momma' s Ltd, who is offering a series of of FREE half an hour mommy and baby fitness classes for you to get involved with. These pre and post natal fitness classes are specially designed to keep you in shape during knockdown.
This week we will be talking to our own resident magician and story teller, Sylvia Sceptre to see how she is coping in lockdown. Plus Wolverhampton based artist Ed Isaacs, will also be inspiring listeners with some isolation creativity. To round all of this off, we will also be giving you a few Easter craft ideas to keep the kids entertained at home.
