Ali Lampert: Certified Personal Trainer, Speaker, Coach

Everyone wants to discover how to live a joyful, healthy lifestyle that lasts. Unfortunately, many experience failure time and time again by following the mainstream approach: workout more, eat less, repeat. Host Ali Lampert knows this approach all too well. As a Certified Personal Trainer, she's experienced her own battles with food and exercise. It wasn't until she began flipping the old paradigm on it's head that she started to experience true, lasting joy. In her body and mind. Her unique approach encourages others to start from the "inside out". Her weekly episodes will inspire you to explore beyond your fitness so you can create lasting results. Ali has a fun, heart-warming, friend-like approach. You'll love hearing from your "best friend and personal trainer" each week.

Are you IN or are you OUT? How many times do you keep your promises to those around you but NOT to yourself? I know, because I do it too. Today we're going to dive into what that looks like as a woman, to put all those around us first and how we can shift our healthy lifestyle into full gear by doing what we say we're gonna do. Keeping your promise to yourself is THE missing link between staying where you are and getting to where you want to be.

Can you believe this is episode 99? If you've been with me from the beginning, wow. I am so grateful we've been together for 2 years. It's hard to believe my 100th episode is coming right at the end of 2018, which seems really special and monumental.

Today, I'm talking about starting your intentions early (pssst you don't have to wait to 2019), nutrition this time of year and why I discourage starting new "diets" but instead figuring out what works for you, and finally how you can add your own daily rituals into your daily life so that you can show up best for yourself and others.

I hope you enjoy this episode, and I'll see you back here next week for the 100th episode!

In today's episode of the Mind Your Fitness Podcast, I'm joined by David Zappasodi. David is a best selling author and has over 20 years experience helping clients reach their weight loss goals. With a lifetime of curiosity as his driving force, he stumbled upon a formula that he's been using with clients over the years in which he's seen 100% success. I know, you're probably reading that thinking....that's insane, but it's true. And when you listen to the episode, you'll see why.

From the moment I was introduced to David's work I was truly blown away and will say right now for the record that what he's doing is going to transform the fitness industry. It is an absolute honor to have him on the podcast sharing his life's work as I know this will benefit so many of you.

This week on the Mind Your Fitness Podcast we're discussing why goals don't always serve us in the greatest way. Why the tiniest of habits add up to the biggest changes in our lives. Why shifting our identity and embodying who we desire to be helps us to step into our power of who we want to be.

This episode was inspired by James Clear's new book "Atomic Habits." A book I highly recommend reading. It's one of the most aligning books I've read when it comes to creating lasting behavior change and results that empower us.

As always, thank you for taking time out of your week to listen to the podcast. If you found this or any episode inspiring, uplifting or helpful, please consider leaving a review. They are so valuable to spread the word and keep this podcast up and running month after month.

Welcome back to the 95th episode of the Mind Your Fitness Podcast. Today's episode is one I've been looking forward to for months. If you aren't familiar with Human Design, you are in for a real treat. I discovered it in January of 2018 and have been curious ever since. Reading everything I can get my hands on and having my own chart read.

Enter Asha. We connected online and I noticed she was a Human Design Expert (no coincidences). I reached out to her to come on the podcast and share her 13 year journey with using HD, how she uses it to parent and help her clients find true happiness inside of themselves.

We're back with our 3rd official season of the Ali Reti Activate A Life You Love Podcast. There are many cool changes coming down the pipe that I'm excited to announce, but I want to waste no time introducing today's inspiring guest!

Josh Trent is the man behind the wildly successful podcast "Wellness Force" which has been voted one of the top 100 best wellness podcasts of all time. Josh gets it when it comes to a whole mind and body approach, which is why many of the things he focuses on in his episodes are emotional intelligence and going deep within when it comes to health.

Today, Josh opens up deeply about what it means to trust others, owning our truth, finding our own pathway to happiness and being seen for who we really are, stripped of filters and instagram posts.

I have been excited to share this episode with you all because anytime Josh and I get together, we create magic. We play off one another's energy and vibration and it's truly a gift to collaborate with people like Josh.

We'd love to hear about your takeaways and how this episode impacted you over on Facebook and Instagram.

In today's episode of the Ali Reti Podcast, I'm discussing a recent experience I had surrounding some major resistance towards a big project I have coming up. This is a topic that is so relevant to any situations in your life, be it a relationship, work or exercise and food. Learning how you can instantly shift away from your resistance will not only help you raise your vibration, but it will help you better receive the desires of your heart.

Have you ever experienced a time when you had to get a paper written, complete a project or application and no matter what you did, it just wasn't coming to you? You felt frustration, anxiety and fear about, "what if it never come?" I hear you, I used to (and still do at times) feel that way about certain areas in my life. The beautiful thing I've learned over the past year studying Abraham Hicks is that we never have to have fear in something we desire. Something we are passionate about at a cellular level. God and the Universe are lining it all up and our job is to be in the receiving mode so that the paper, project or application idea can come to us through a clear channel.

This episode is for anyone who wants to receive the things they desire with more ease.

This episode was inspired by one of my favorite mentors Jess Lively, and it couldn't have come at a more relevant time. Lately you may have felt me being more disconnected, and that's because I have been. I realized in 2018 that in order to be who I want to be, I cannot spend so much time on social media, watching tv, the news, all of it. I finally came to realize just how much these things negatively impacted my ability to fully show up as myself.

In today's episode, I'm sharing things I've been afraid to tell you. I openly share what's been shifting in my heart and how I feel that's impacting the direction of my business and ultimately this podcast. It can be scary sometimes. As someone who loves growing and evolving, sometimes I can feel as though it will appear inconsistent, when it's quite the opposite. I'm consistent with following my joy, the things that make me feel deep appreciation and I focus on those things.

Today's episode is perfect for anyone who's ever doubted who they are, where they are going in life and are afraid to openly admit it with others. My hope is that by speaking about my fears it will put them to rest, so I can move forward and share all of the incredible things I'm experiencing in my life, business, marriage, fitness and os much more.

In today's episode, I'm joined by Deb Conry. Self-made mindfulness coach, certified in yoga nedra and she's been through gabby bernsteins spirit junkie masterclass. Deb's work molds the LOA + Visualization with the science behind how the brain works and how you can achieve any goal you desire by understanding the brain and how it plays a large role in adopting new behaviors.

This episode is perfect for anyone who desires to learn more about the LOA + Visualization who may be feeling it's a bit "woo-woo" or "hokey". We totally understand, and that's why I felt it was important to connect with Deb so she can offer another approach to this deeper work.

Today's episode is a long time coming. Meagan and I met through our partnership with the amazing clothing company Athleta. I instantly knew I had to share her story with you all. She's so open, vulnerable and not afraid to put it out there and be REAL. I love that so much.

Meagan is a certified personal trainer, health coach, group fitness instructor and knows all too well what it's like to be at war with her body. Through her life's journey and many twists and turns, it's left Meagan so passionate about helping other women to create a better relationship with their body. To embrace, love and accept the body you're in. After all, it's the only body you've got. Life's to short to not take photos of yourself because you don't look perfect, or wait around to do things until you've lost those last 5 pounds.

Today we take a quick dive into what it means to find your true alignment. Without staying true to you, what lights you up and brings your soul joy, can you truly be in alignment?

At some point, I'm guessing you've been told that you are being "too selfish" when you chose to set boundaries, start saying no and staying true to what is best for you. Today's episode is how selfishness relates to being in alignment.

  • Can you truly be in alignment if you are being selfish?
  • Can you people please and be in alignment with source/God/The Universe?
  • How can you raise your vibration and tune your radio dial to a higher frequency to attract more of what you want?

"Living in a world where 'selfies' are glorified, personal opinions are amplified louder than God's, and society is unashamedly selfish, where do we find our meaning and purpose among all the insanity? From #Selfie to Selfless takes an authentic look at the multiple areas of life where we can wave the white flag on filtering frenzy, and shift our gaze from inward to upward, re-silting in a more fulfilled, confident, purpose driven life." -Kristen Perino, author of #Selfie to Selfless.

Today's episode of the #activatealifeyoulove podcast is with the lovely soul Kristen Perino. She's an author of the upcoming book #Selfie to Selfless and a girl after my own heart. She GETS it. In a world where we can fall prey to the perfect images on social media and the need to 'keep up with the Joneses,' Kristen keeps it real, in a very kind and powerful way. She shared her journey of receiving this 'book download', the process she went through to write it, why she feels called to gently nudge people closer to the things that truly matter (friends, family, being in the present), how Beyoncé falls into the mix, and so much more.

Episode 79 of the Activate A Life You Love Podcast is one that is near and dear to my heart. For a year and a half, you have all requested to hear from my husband Ben who plays such a huge role in my life. It took me many days to convince him, but yesterday we made it happen. He did such an amazing job sharing from his heart, I'm so proud of him. I know this is NOT something he loves (being in the spotlight) but he's such a talented speaker and has so much wisdom to share.

All of these questions were 100% candid, he didn't know any of them were coming and I made sure to include some of your questions here as well! I know you'll love hearing his point of view on marriage, life and everything in between. He is the reason I've become the woman I am today, and I'm so grateful to share him with you all on this podcast.

We are back with the 71st episode of the Ali Reti Activate A Life You Love Podcast. This weekend, I've been thinking a lot about something I kept hearing over the weekend, and that is "do you have integrity with your word?" I thought this was fascinating because it's something I began analyzing in my own life. I do really amazing in many areas of my life, and then there are areas where I say I'm going to do things and I don't do them and I wind up feeling bad. Today, I want to challenge you to identify an area of your life you keep saying you're going to commit to but you don't. This could be your fitness, your nutrition, starting that blog you want to start, whatever it may be.

I debated whether or not to even release this episode. In fact I almost didn't record it because I knew it wouldn't be "near perfect" quality like my other episodes. And then I reminded myself that you don't listen to this podcast for perfection, you come back time and time again because you want RAW and REAL and UNCUT episodes, and that is what this episode encapsulates entirely.

Last night I took a sunset walk after a really tough couple of days. Walking immediately changes my mood (my state to be exact) and so I knew it would be so healing and freeing for me. About 10 minutes in I broke down and had this urge to record a podcast, in the moment. I feel it's so important to write and talk about things in the moment, because often it's hard to really capture the same motion later.

I think about you all and how you handle tough days. What you must be thinking/feeling/wondering about, and so today I share exactly what was on my heart during my walk. Breakdowns and all. And the beautiful thing? Simply by talking it through with you I felt more like myself than I had in days.

I really hope you enjoy today's episode, and now I'd love to hear from you. What do you do on tough days? How do you cope? As always, I LOVE hearing from you. You are what keeps me going. Please feel free to head over to instagram and let me know in the comments. Something you're struggling with, something I can help you with, or simply how this episode spoke to you.

Today's episode is an interview with someone who knows all too well what it's like to get in her own way. I can relate SO much to this interview, as I have probably been the BIGGEST thing getting in my own way of accomplishing what I desire. Whether that's in relationships, my career, my health and fitness, you name it.

That's why I'm so excited about today's interview. This is something ALL of us experience many times throughout of lives. Creating stories about why we aren't good enough, about why we aren't qualified to do something, etc.

More about Nina Ferrerya:

I started 707AVE with a mission to inspire you to live the life of your dreams. I believe anything is possible. You can be, have, and do whatever you want. And you can create the life of your dreams. It’s all inside of you.

And sometimes you can’t see the entire picture. You can’t know what you were meant to do… but you have to let go and trust that you’re exactly where you should be.

My path hasn’t been exactly clear-cut, and I’m still figuring things out… but I do know one thing:

In order to live the life of your dreams, you have to love yourself more than anything or anyone in the world.

From that place of self love, you will amass confidence and you will believe in yourself… you’ll believe that you can achieve anything.

And you’ll be able to create a life beyond your wildest dreams.

So who am I?

I am your brand clarity + business coach.

And my mission is to push you farther than you ever dreamed possible.

Go big.

And live the life beyond your wildest dreams.

I love dark chocolate, coffee, Levis, and Anthropologie.

You can find me listening to A Fine Frenzy, Tom Petty, U2, or Pearl Jam. I always get extra packets of crushed red pepper to put on my pizza, and everything I eat has to be spicy.

I love exploring new restaurants, traveling, and taking long walks on the beach.

Monday's episode brought in a FLOOD of messages and emails that I wanted to take today to say thank you and share some stories that were sent to me. If you haven't had a chance to listen to that episode, please do so. Episode 55 Coping with a break-up was one of the most downloaded episodes to date!

I wanted to take a moment today to expand upon two of the most common struggles that came up, embarrassment and rejection. We are no strangers to these two emotions and I wanted to expand upon them and send you encouragement this Friday on how you can re-frame your thinking around these things and move forward.

In today's episode, I'm talking all about my own personal experience with breakups (specifically my divorce 8 years ago) and how I coped with it.

A dear friend who just broke off her engagement recently reached out to me asking, "how was that journey after your divorce? What did that look like? Feel like? How did you handle it?"

In today's episode, I let you know, unfiltered, the highs and the lows of what I went through and how that journey of what I refer to as my 'beautiful disaster' brought me to one of the most joyous places in my life.

Lastly, this weekend is the very first 'Activate A Life You Love' event here in Boulder, Co. If you are interested in attending this incredible conversation and learn more about the event, head here for more details!

Show Notes:

  1. Spend time with loved ones
  2. Soak up time with friends of the same sex
  3. Go on a deep dive of self discovery
  4. Books: Brene Brown, Building an Affair Proof Marriage, The 5 Love Languages

  7. Putting out the right energy. If you are walking around saying this is going to be hard, then it will be
  8. Find someone to talk to, relish in your feelings and don't sweep them under the rug
  9. Make a list (like a kid on christmas) of all the things you desire in your ideal partner. Does this mean they will have everything? Maybe not, but often we don't even take the time to ask ourselves what it is we truly want.
  10. Then write a list of all the things you absolutely do not want want them to be like.
  11. Now write to yourself, who do YOU need to be to allow that person to show up. You can't attract the person you desire if you aren't being true to yourself

Episode 52:

Today's show is all about you discovering and creating your own "power hour" to master your day. The ability to set aside time to truly connect with yourself first thing in the morning is one of the biggest game changers you'll ever experience. You know that feeling of immediately getting out of bed and reacting to the world? You feel pulled in a million different directions and it seems as if you are in a total tail spin.

Enter your power hour (or 5-15 minutes), you choose. This is yours to create, be creative and find what feels best for you. There's no better feeling than from the moment you get out of bed feeling that you OWN your life, you OWN your thoughts, you OWN your reality. This is what allows you to be more present, to feel less anxiety and more peace, and ultimately becomes the foundation from which you can make better decisions to better serve the world.

Show Notes:

Before grabbing your phone, do the following:

  1. Immediately get out of bed and do something for your mind--read, podcast, your choice
  2. Journal
  3. Mediate or Pray
  4. Incantations

Episode 49:

On today's episode of the podcast, I chat with my longtime friend who is a grit and resilience extraordinare. Blake Thiess is one of those individuals who has a light about them that's undeniable. I remember meeting him for the first time and was instantly drawn to his positive energy and zest for life. This interview is no different. You can feel his passion for serving the world and helping others land their dream job in this interview.

Blake shares why building and maintaining resilience and grit are crucial components to your success in a career, a relationship, just about any aspect of your life. The beautiful part? It's simple yet so effective. So many times we get caught up on why we don't have something we want. This can result in jealousy that others have what we want and it leads us down a negative dark hole. Today, I'm happy to say that Blake will bring you the light and help inspire you to take a little more structured action on a daily basis to move you closer to whatever it is you want.

I can't wait for you to hear this episode, so lets head over to the show!

Episode 48:

I'm back! I'm so grateful for your grace during the times when I truly need the space to create, gain clarity so I can ultimately show up for you in the best way I know how. I'm truly honored that you're taking the time to listen to this episode because if you've ever been unclear on your next path, where you're going, what's in store for your life, then I know this episode will resonate with you.

The past two weeks I've embarked on a spiritual journey that I sometimes struggle to put words to. It's been the most incredible time of growth, happiness, fulfillment and everything in between. The joy I've been able to feel is not because I'm "special" and somehow have abilities that you don't. Quite the opposite. I finally got to a point in my life where I said NO MORE, the pain of being stagnant and letting my fears run my life is over. I will take back my personal power to create a positive shift in my life and in the lives of those around me.

This is easily THE most raw and real episode I've recorded to date. It's also the most in alignment with who I am as a human being and how I want to serve you. I know you'll enjoy this episode and likely relate to many of the things I have to say.

I want you to know that I'm here for you. I'm here to support, love, stretch you and above all else, what you connect so deeply to yourself that you discover what your purpose on this planet truly is. You have a gift inside of you that only you have. Don't believe me? Ask the higher power you believe in.......I double dare you :)

Episode 47:

What if I told you that tomorrow I was going to gift you the VERY thing you've been dreaming of day after day? Would you be ready?

The truth is, this topic comes up so often with my clients who want to lose weight, be more fit, stop thinking about food and finally develop an effortless routine. I want you to think about that dream I'm about to hand you, do you believe with all your heart that you'd be ready for it? Could you handle it? Knowing that you hadn't taken all the daily steps you knew you needed to take. Knowing that you were unsure of how to maintain it.

Think about people who win the lottery. Typically, many of these people wind up spending all their money within a year of winning it. I think about this ALL the time as an entrepreneur, would I be ready if tomorrow Oprah showed up on my doorstep to collaborate? Maybe.

The whole point of achieving your dreams is that the JOURNEY is what allows you to carry out the result you are dying for. But Ali, the process is hard. It feels like a roller coaster, it feels like I'm never going to get there. I GET YOU. I've been there, I'm still there in certain areas of my life. But you know what? I know that if I stay the course, if i can find a way to become wildly obsessed with the process, that is what will get me there. I've never known anyone who became so excited and enjoyed a process to not reach their goal. You know why? They commit, every single day to doing one thing that will move them forward. They know that imperfect action trumps staying where they are. They know that by putting in the tiny efforts each and being consistent, that is what ultimately leads them to their dream.

So I'll as you again, if you've been feeling impatient and wanting your dream to happen TOMORROW, would you be ready? Or do you have some work to do?

  1. Are you taking action?
  2. Are you putting one foot in front of the other?
  3. Are you throwing in the towel when things get hard or are you asking yourself more productive questions so that you can discover a different answer?
  4. Are you wildly obsessed with ENJOYING the process?

Episode 46:

I'm backkkkkkk! I took a much needed break from social media and technology as many of you noticed. I needed some time to connect back to my heart. One of the best ways for me to do that is to unplug, escape into nature and discover new inspiration and excitement. I feel refreshed and excited, so thank you for being patient as I took a short break from the podcast. I never want to create for you just to "create." I always want there to be purpose and meaning behind it all, and sometimes breaks are necessary for me to put my best foot forward.

Today I'm answering YOUR questions. I ask you all during every episode if you have questions you'd like me to answer. Normally your questions turn into entire episodes, but lately I've been compiling a list of shorter questions to answer all at once. Today I discuss:

    • Do you have to have seriously disordered eating to benefit from your help, or can people like me who have always been a touch overweight because they just love food be helped too?
    • What helps you, "get up and go"?
What helps you do it again and again?
What helps you snap out of it when you are in the middle of rejecting a healthy choice?
    • Do you know a psychologist that is amazing with food issues that takes insurance?
    • When is the struggles ever going to get better with weigh loss and exercises goals? Do you ever feel it's a struggle everyday?
    • What exercises are good for someone starting over?
    • I am very interested in health and nutrition and want to pursue a career change into the field. I know my current job drains my energy which has me reaching for junk food and skipping workouts. As a successful trainer working in the field, what would you recommend for someone looking to take my love of fitness and nutrition to the next level?
    • how do you maintain workout routine when you travel? do you have to think about it ahead of time (like look up nearby gyms, or plan specific hotel room workouts) so that you hold yourself accountable once you get there? for someone who is on the road a lot, what advice would you give for short, cardio-heavy workout sessions not at home?
    • How can I get more motivated

I hope you enjoy today's episode format, I really love answering your questions and providing as much help and value to you as I can. If there's something I didn't cover that you'd like me to address on a future episode, please head to mywebsite and shoot me an email or leave your question on my blog. Episode 45:

A friend recently reached out to me asking what my outlook on rest days is. This is a topic I'm extra passionate about. In an industry that can lean towards promoting "more is better" and "there are no excuses for not fitting in a workout," I feel quite different about this topic. I don't believe you need anyone telling you whether or not you're making up excuses. We all know when we're falling prey to that behavior, and in circumstances such as that, the best thing we can do is come to that conclusion on our own. To take ownership for our actions and decide to make a change.

In today's episode, I share my personal struggles early on in my journey when it came to embracing rest days and extra sleep. It took me quite a few years to realize that "less is truly more." That by allowing my body to have time off when it's sore, hurting or sick actually heightens my results in the long run.

I realize this can be a difficult concept to comprehend. I wouldn't be surprised if you struggle in the beginning figuring out what that balance looks like in your life. I'm here to reassure you though, that you can do it. That while it may seem scary to pull back on the intensity, your body will thank you. You might even find you enjoy moving your body more when you give it time away.

Show Notes:

  • Why rest days are so important to your results and your health
  • How many rest days should you take in your personal journey?
  • What are the benefits when you rest and take time off?
  • What are the side effects of not resting when your body needs it?
  • What should you do if you are super sore?
  • What should your food look like on the days that you don't exercise? Should it be different than your active days?
  • Should you rest completely on your days "off," or is active rest a great option?
  • How important sleep is to your results and why it will actually be the very thing that takes you closer to where you want to be physically
  • How sleep and rest promote weight-loss, if that's your goal

Back by popular demand...Eliza Kingsford (aka my sister). We had such a great time talking about her book last time and so many of you sent an outpouring of love about that episode, that we decided to do part 2.

On today's episode of the progress over perfection podcast, we discuss how to recover from setbacks (aka life). We've both battled injuries this past year and learned so much from our "new normal." It can be a confusing time when life gets flipped upside down. Injuries can leave us wondering, "why did this happen to me?" Today, we discuss why that's actually benefitted our journey's in the long run.

We also dive deep into the scale, and why you might need to break up with it for a while (or forever). So many women have written me lately sharing their deep struggles with feeling like they are rocking in every department, but the minute the scale doesn't show them a number they like, it completely negates everything they've worked so hard on. Join us in this episode as we talk about why this behavior is so destructive and how you can beat it, once and for all.

This week on the progress over perfection podcast, I'm talking all about why the scale lies to you.

We are in week 2 of the POP Academy and every single woman this week has come to me at some point and said, "Ali, the scale isn't moving, I feel like a failure." There are a LOT of factors that play into weight loss, and I know today's episode will really give you insight into why the scale isn't actually moving. It's probably not what you think....

This week on the Progress over Perfection Podcast, I'm interviewing someone very special to me. Technically I'm breaking all the rules (they say you shouldn't interview your own family, but you know what? I LOVE to do everything people tell me not to do, because lets face it, life's too short to follow the straight and narrow path and not do what feels right). So this week, my sister Eliza Kingsford, author of Brain Powered Weight Loss is here to share the truth behind the obesity epidemic, why 70 % of the population is considered over weight, why mindfulness is such a crucial component in creating lasting behavior changes and last but certainly not least, why people may have the wrong idea about struggling with binge eating and what the clinical term actually means.

On today's episode of the Progress over Perfection Podcast, we're discussing how to beat your sugar addiction. With the holiday's in full force, it's safe to say many of us are feeling the impacts of the higher levels of sugar consumption. Today, I interview Kes Rocha who knows sugar addiction all too well.

Kes Rocha, is a body loving, disease prevention focused Health & Wellness Morning Routine Specialist and creator of the SUGAR REPAIR 6-WEEK PROGRAM, CLEAN EATING CHALLENGE, and her Signature 90 day KEEP EATING SIMPLE (KES) Plan®.

After years of coaching her clients meet their weight loss health goals, she kept hearing the same struggles. "I'm addicted to sugar"! "My addiction with sugar and food is ridiculous and is affecting my health and general life." "I don't know how to quit."

She observed this in so many clients that she devised a way to interrupt the cycle, help them kill their sugar addictions and give women back their lives and the power to make their own routines that work for them, SIMPLY!

Having kicked her own sugar addiction over 2 years ago she's now empowering others how to do the same. When she's not sharing inspiration with others on Facebook or in her challenges, she's enjoying the mountains of beautiful Utah with her handsome high school sweetheart, her look-just-like-mom teenage daughters, and the rest of the Rocha clan that all live within a mile of home.

Show Notes:

-Who is Kes?

-Why her own story and struggles with sugar inspired her to become a health coach

-Are you addicted to sugar? How to know....

-9 questions you can ask yourself to see if you're addicted to sugar:

-What are the true harms of sugar?

When you think about your goals and dreams for 2017, I want you to consider using the philosophy for "Acting As If." This simple yet effective saying has transformed many different aspects of my life. In today's episode, I'm going to walk you through a series of questions that you can ask yourself in order to make 2017 the year you actually do the things you want to do. Show Notes: When you think about your goals and dreams for 2017, I want you to take a slightly different approach this year. I want you to ACT AS IF- Be in the essence. Because when it comes to weight loss or fitness and nutrition goals, what we're really searching for is the FEELING that it brings. So ask yourself a few of these questions: -What would you do if you were already where you want to be? -What are you feeling? -What's coming up for you? We've talked about shame a lot on this podcast but I want to remind you that you must expose the shame to release it. So one of the things that comes up when we are "Acting as if" formely known as faking it till we make it, I want you to ask yourself a few more questions. If there's a certain story surrounding WHY you can't eat healthier or exercise or have a better relationship with food, I want you to ask yourself when did you create that story? Who was there? When did you feel it come up? What's the story you developed? Is that even YOUR story or is it your parents? I think this is something that's really worth mentioning and that's the story's we carry on from our parents and even our grandparents. So this is ALL a practice of awareness right? I'm a firm believer that until we take ownership, we cannot change. The beauty is, you have a CHOICE. You can create your life and the body you want. I want you to take a second and think about what it is you REALLY want in 2017...... When you truly BELIEVE that, you have this blissful, exciting feeling. As you grow your emotions around that expand. This is the idea of abundance. I've talked about this a lot before and that's the idea of a lack vs abundance mindset. The truth is that the Universe or God WANTS you to have abundance, but we can actually create our own blocks with limiting beliefs, the story's we tell ourselves whether we aren't good enough, we don't deserve X, etc etc. So this year as you move into 2017, I want you to remember this idea of ACTING AS IF. IF you want to take it a step forward, write a letter to yourself AS IF you were already at your goal (weight loss, healthier lifestyle, whatever). What are the feelings that are coming up? What are your relationships like? Do you have less anxiety? More ease? Write it down. Lastly, don't forget to CELEBRATE Your success. You know that when we let things we've accomplished just go by the way side, we're sending a signal that it's "not a big deal" when it IS A BIG DEAL. Get excited. -Celebration keeps us excited and MOTIVATED. This is what keeps us going. We're back with our 25th episode of the Progress over Perfection podcast. Today, I'm talking about "The Hustle For Worthiness," inspired by Brene Brown. A close friend of mine recently confided in me that she feels unworthy in her new job. Knowing her, I knew without a doubt she was giving 110%, but she still felt like no matter how hard she worked she needed to keep proving herself.

That got me wondering, how many of us spend our lives "proving" ourselves to others? Whether it's in a job or relationship, the hustle for worthiness can only lead to one thing: disappointment.

Show Notes:

The Pathway to Worthiness:   1. Being careful not to connect our worth to things outside ourselves: Jobs, Relationships, Status, etc. 2. Acknowledge when you're seeking external validation --Example, Facebook 3. We've talked a lot about self-care and self-love on the podcast, but I want you to ask yourself if you're really doing this? Taking time to reconnect with yourself helps to diminish the external need.  4. Success comes from believing you're worthy- they hired you for a reason, they see greatness in you. Don't make up a story that they think all these things, that'll get those demons running laps in your mind.
