Our guiding purpose behind all of our interviews and commentary is to bring glory to God and encouragement to our listeners as we embrace our daily lives as believers, discussing and interpreting local and national events through the lens of a Biblical Worldview.
Commander John B. Wells, US Navy Retired, offers thoughts and expectations on the changes coming for America under a second Trump presidency. Also, a film director named Brian Sanders makes his first appearance on AWM, with a new film in hand called "Why Stand With Israel." Finally, a return visit with the leader of Prosperity 101 - Linda J. Hansen, as she returns to talk impact on business that she sees coming with a new administration.
This conversation took its own path! Alex and Mike talk about a mutual love - guitars. Plus, they do get into a few more weighty subjects as well. But, as Mike said, it is fun to talk about something that is..."fun." Alex McFarland is an apologist, author and speaker known for his effective ministry on college campuses.
In what turned out to be a landslide victory, former President Donald Trump is the new President-Elect after soundly defeating Kamela Harris. And, in Florida, Amendments 3 (marijuana) and 4 (abortion) also failed to reach the needed levels. Helping to sort out the implications, Dave Zanotti, President of the American Policy Roundtable and host of "The Public Square" joins Mike in this episode.
This election cycle has generated more interest, importance and controversy than any in history. From issues at the Presidential level, to ballot initiatives in Florida, much is at stake, and it all comes down to today. Finally, and interview with director Rich Hull and chaplain Jeff Struecker on a new film on veterans.

Official election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5 - Public Square host Dave Zanotti returns to AWM to share his thoughts on the most critical issues facing voters...and all of America. Erin Bethea and Drew Waters are actors, and they developed a friendship that led to marriage. They are now behind a new holiday movie coming out on November 24 called "Festival of Trees." Erin was a screenwriter, and Drew produced this fun comedy that premieres on the UPTV channel. Also, a visit with Bishop Daniel Yohannan of GFA World, with whom the Shepherd is partnering for their 2024 "Critter Campaign."
Paul Blair is a pastor on the move. Leading churches in both Orlando and in Oklahoma, Paul is always going places. So is his ministry, as he is teaching pastors to be informed and involved as community leaders. Paul leads Liberty Church in Orlando, meeting at the Embassy Suites in Altamonte Springs. He is joined by good friend and Timothy Plan founder Art Ally. Paul's show "Exploring the Word" is heard daily at 7:30 AM.

How comforting it is to know that United in Crisis is there to provide aid, comfort and encouragement to those suffering from a calamity. Krystal Parker is a familiar voice in Central Florida. The host of "The Shepherd at Work," Krystal served as the President of the Central Florida Christian Chamber for 3 years before leaving to establish the US Christian Chamber. Kelsey Pritchard is one with a deep passion for the Pro-Life movement. Her involvement in this matter has led her to a key position in the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life organization, where she works to educate and inspire those in South Dakota and beyond on the critical issues that make up the abortion debate. No doubt about it...Buddy Shelton had some serious game when it came to golf. A veteran on the PGA Tour, he found a niche with his humor, and ability to do trick shots. He started a new career as a speaker and entertainer at golf tourneys around the world. Today, he lives in Central Florida, and returns to AWM. Inside Out Jail Ministries is led by Tammy Fisher, who works faithfully providing support to prisoners both in, and once they are released from prison. Their annual banquet is coming soon, and with her today is Mel Chauncey, who will be the keynote speaker. Mel is a former Chicago Hell Angels president, and back in the day, he was about as rough as they came. But his life was transformed by Jesus.
On the anniversary of 9/11, Dr. Alveda King shares thoughts and remembrances of where she was on that fateful day...as well as commenting on our need in America for unity. Heroes to Heroes founder Judy Isaacson Elias talks about the urgent need for care for the mental health of our veterans, and how her organization helps them.

His own pain paved the way to a podcast that gained widespread notoriety, and a new ministry was born. This is a serious threat in our country today, and Jill is passionate in her efforts to be a help.
A vision to serve our nation's leaders in its capitol was birthed in the heart of Kimberly Genau. She formed "The Alabaster House," and offers support to congressmen, senators, and other leaders through devotions, confidential prayer, and friendship. She tells the story in this episode.

Trey Etheridge's story is full of twists and turns that included losing his job, then his wife, and nearly his life to suicide. But God spared him of the latter, and miraculously so. And their work is bearing fruit, for there is an amazing number of Muslims that have converted to Christianity, always at the risk of their own lives. He brings an exciting report. Robbie Harper grew up in Astor, FL, working in his family's business. Ultimately, he started his own public relations firm called Blue Bridge PR, the name pointing back to the bridge over the St. John's River in Astor. He talks about how PR can set up a company for success.

Art's passion for the Lord never stopped growing to this day. Also, interviews with coaches Jason Wells and Adam Brewer from last week's FCA Kickoff Classic in Gainesville.
Gainesville's FCA leader Noah Wilbanks found the winning combination with the annual Kickoff Classic, bringing together schools from all over the region as coaches invite their players to take the bus to Westside Baptist for a worship service and a free meal from Sonny's Barbecue. Special speaker Nate Carr, an NCAA champion and Olympic medalist joins Mike. The phrase "Mental Health issues" is quite the buzz in today's world. Christian Counselor Zach Clinton has years of experience as a professional counselor, and has written a book entitled "EVEN IF." Also, Sira Botes, originally from South Africa, has developed a helpful strategy for families who have a loved one dealing with dementia or other memory issues.
David Swanson (Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Orlando) played a key role in the early days of Mike's move back to Orlando, serving as a connector for several city leaders. He has been a frequent and valued guest on AWM, and today he discusses unity and, as believers, how to respond to the events of our day.
He was airlifted and sent by jet to a hospital after suffering what doctors diagnosed as a Traumatic Brain Injury. Once in a larger hospital, the injury was confirmed when his Mom prayed. Afterwards, she requested that they do one more scan of Sam Eckerson's brain, and to their amazement...that injury was nowhere to be seen. He was out of the hospital in no time, and he recently wrote a book entitled "43 Hours" to document his story.
The events of this past Saturday afternoon have shocked both the nation and the world, as a 20 year old man took aim on former president Donald Trump. By God's grace, his was a minor injury, literally millimeters away from sure death. Luke Perlot, from the National Legal and Policy Center talks about the event, and his efforts to have a liberal removed from the Microsoft board over threats of harm. It was an overuse of prescription narcotics that led to a terrible addiction, one that from which many never recover. But God had plans for Jeremy Kupsch that went far beyond those struggles. His path in ministry has been rich, including 5 years in Japan, working with troubled teens, and now leading an important Central Florida organization that works to bridge together churches, governments and businesses.
It was on a late night in Chicago when Elizabeth Ameling's life was changed forever. On a field trip with her daughters and other young girls, they happened to see a young woman on the street, standing near a shady individual. This turned out to be the first of several chance sightings of this girl, who they realized was trapped in sex slavery. They took the bold step and rescued this girl. It happened once before on the campus of Asbury University - in 1970, what was called a revival broke out on this theological seminary. It happened again on February 8, and for almost 2 weeks, there were non-stop prayer meetings at the school. Darrell Biram is a pastor from nearby Shelbyville, KY. Bill Elliff is from Arkansas, and both traveled to Wilmore to experience this outbreak. Darrell is Mike's brother-in-law, and Bill Elliff pastors in North Little Rock.
Danny Jones has been like a brother to Mike since 1975. Olivia, Chrissy and Jeffrey Collins have grown up in a Christian home, each homeschooled and brimming with musical and acting talent. All three were members of the cast and singers at the recent Thurlow Spurr production, "Christmas Is." They share two songs in this episode, one that is perfect for this special Christmas season.
The newspaper headlines shouted out "Holy Holler" after Alec Holler made an amazing one-handed catch into the end zone, a catch that was a game winner over rival USF. That one catch has "caught" the attention of sports writers across the country, and today, we sit down with this UCF athlete who happens to be a committed Christian. He is a humble young man whose love for UCF compelled him to turn down smaller colleges' offers and try out as a walk-on player. That effort paid off, as Alec's work ethic and leadership gifting made room for itself as the UCF Coach gave him a scholarship. They have lived in the same house, in the same city for years. Believers since the early days of the Jesus movement, Bill and Colleen Hufford raised their family and served in their churches. It was an unexpected task that launched Colleen into politics, as she helped in the successful efforts to remove adult entertainment from her city, and that led to her being elected to public office. After she termed out, Bill decided to run too and he won. This inspiring couple shares their story on today's episode.

Mark Anthony had a simple, humble beginning for his food bank...someone popped into his lawn mower shop and said something to this effect: "I don't believe in God...but I know you are a God-fearing man, and you'll know what to do with this..." With that, he left a box of snacks. Mark did what he needed to do, and began to distribute this unexpected food to some sources that needed it. Such was the beginning of Southeastern Food Bank. He shares the full story in this episode. Also, a visit from Angela Harris, the founder of an outreach to women in transition - the New Life Transitional Home.
His path led him to several different pursuits, some of which were passions of his life, including music (he spent time as a recording engineer in LA), and he also found a great knack for sales. He is also an accomplished musician, songwriter, singer and arranger, known around the world as the composer of the "NBA on NBC" theme song. John will perform in The Villages on Dec. 7 at the Savannah Center. Also, Scotty Moore takes up Segment 3, sharing about his recent run for congressional seat.
He grew up in a rough and tough family, in an even rougher neighborhood. But a determined man on a mission dared to witness to Greg's uncle, and that one encounter set off a chain reaction in Greg's family. Greg became an on-fire witnesser himself, sharing his faith around the world through his "Dare2Share" organization. His book, "Unlikely Fighter" is a must read, outlining many of the amazing stories that make up Greg's life.
His desire to help eradicate the current indoctrination going on with America's children motivated Demensio Barton to make a run for a spot on Orange County's school board. His campaign fell short in the primary, but Demensio trusts God, knowing that nothing is wasted in such efforts. Following his crime-laden father, Paul became an early addict and was basically on his own from age 14, having dropped out of school in 6th grade. Arrested on several property crimes, Paul was sentenced to 25 years in Florida State Prison, and he served 18 years of that sentence. But it is what happened to Paul while he was incarcerated that changed his life.

Chuck Williams was an Army vet that went back for more, and complete second enlistment, this time as a military chaplain. Chuck had sensed a call into ministry long before, and graduated with his Master's from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. He had several deployments in Afghanistan, and learned much from his experience of being a senior chaplain. He is about to defend his doctorate degree as his dissertation is now complete, and a move to Pasco County (from their home in North Carolina) is on the horizon.

The much anticipated ruling in the Dobbs vs. Jackson case brought about an overturning of Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 decision that authorized abortion protection from the federal government. In this ruling, our Supreme Court did a rarity - an admission that Roe, a 1973 decision, was faulty from the start, and now the subject of abortion shifts to the control of each individual state and their laws. Many states are already positioned to make most abortions illegal. Commenting on this is Dave Zanotti, American Policy expert who shares some important cautions to us all. Also, from "Choose Life Radio Network", Jill Taylor adds her thoughts and opinions. A Marine-turned-football coach in Washington State was targeted, and ultimately fired by the school. His offense? He had a routine of kneeling at the 50 yard line at the end of any game (win or lose) to pray. This popular coach was ultimately joined by students. As a high school senior, Jeff Driskel was one of those amazing athletes that was the top recruit in his class, eventually donning the blue and orange of the Florida Gators, where Tarin was a Gator Cheerleader. While definitely successful, Jeff did have a few setbacks, and left UF for his last year in college football. Now, 6 years later, he has accomplished the difficult feat of maintaining a career in the NFL. But it was a devotional book that he began writing, partly out of his need for such a resource, that really took off, selling more than 200,000 copies. Now, he is writing a second devotional. It has been said that "necessity is the mother of invention." In a real way, that is the story told in Mike's interview with Charlie Bailes, Orlando businessman and entrepreneur. A serious sickness suffered by his daughter left Charlie and his wife desperate. Doctor's didn't seem to have an answer, so Charlie got busy reading. His research on her symptoms and his reading of over 50 books left him convinced that an answer was reachable. He developed a supplement, and gave it to her, and the results were amazing.

Born in Canada, Jenessa Wait sensed a word from the Lord to attend a Bible college - and that trail led to California. While there - Jenessa met her future husband, and in time they married. Jenessa did, and was hooked, and she now has a thriving online store for her designs and products. It was in the early 90s when Mike had Dr. Richard Pratt as a professor at Reformed Theological Seminary. Dr. Pratt's life work on the Old Testament is legendary, and the basis for his much loved book, "HE GAVE US STORIES." For the last several years, Dr. Pratt has led The Third Millennium Ministries (often called "Third Mill"). The Lord gave Ashley some pretty specific guidance as to how she should operate her law offices and Ashley works hard to both help her clients while honoring God with her practice. Originally from the northeast, she first moved to South Florida before moving and settling in Central Florida.
Josh Moon leads River of Life Church in Alachua. He loves this area, and especially the Main Street quaintness that defines the "downtown" region of Alachua. An added special touch to Josh's leadership is the fact that he has his own real-life brother on staff as the youth and worship leader. In segment 3, a visit from Mat Staver (The Liberty Counsel) on a case that he will soon be presenting to the US Supreme Court.
A real treat to end our 2021 year of broadcasts - with Judge Vince Chiu. Born in New Jersey, his parents came to the US as political refugees. They worked hard to make a life for their family, and Vince benefitted from their sacrifice. He thought first about medicine before deciding upon law. He was appointed by Gov. DeSantis to the family law bench about two years ago, and is transitioning to the Civil Court in the coming days. Vince treats us to a song in this episode.

His parents were products of the impact from the great depression, yet raised their children in the riches of God's grace. Rev. Michael Glodo has followed in the faith first shown to him in his upbringing, and is a longtime professor at RTS - Reformed Theological Seminary in Oviedo. This humble and relatable man of God serves other pastors as well, filling in for them as a visiting pastor as needed. His story is inspiring to all.

She became a volunteer counselor for a crisis center for rape victims and that really initiated the path that led her to the role she now plays at the Beacon Center.

She was 8 years old when her she, along with her mother, and a few relatives, made an escape from Cuba, aboard a homemade raft consisting of intertubes, a mattress and some wood. They had a malfunctioning compass, and missed the southern tip of Florida. An amazing rescue in the eleventh hour spared their lives, and gave them a beginning in America. Zely found a deep relationship with Jesus, and along with her husband, they are part of a thriving ministry at Journey Church in Orlando.

Once upon a time, there was a smart young man who thought he wanted to be an engineer when he grew up. Every day, he went to his college classes and studied his math and science. One day on campus, he saw an advertisement for volunteers needed at a local elementary school and decided to get involved. Because of that, he spent all of his free time in a fourth grade classroom working with young kids and grew to love it! Because of that experience, he knew that God had called him to education, not engineering. He changed his college and his major and started taking classes to become a teacher, until finally, years later, he graduated from UF with an education degree and became a fifth grade teacher. Today, he still works in education as Headmaster of The Rock School, where he has been employed for 21 years.

Mark Minck was a successful Gainesville business man whose life was turned upside down in a single morning. During a pro-life meeting, Mark sensed an undeniable call of God to go into action, and fight for the lives of the preborn. He is the state chairman of the Human Life Protection Amendment, which is a simple sentence proposal to Florida's constitution. With it, human life - from the womb, to the elderly patients, life would be protected on the basis of a heartbeat. Mark shares this compelling effort in this show.
Jim Scudder Jr. longed to be a pilot - but chose instead to enter the ministry, ultimately taking the reins of the church founded by his father. Today, that church in the Chicago area is flourishing under Jim's leadership, as is the radio ministry InGrace, also under his leadership. He shares his thoughts on the state of our colleges and universities, many of which are completely liberal in practice. He also weighs in on the gender debate, and the serious issues facing our American culture.
Robert Stuart is simply a public servant, having served as the founder and executive director of the Christian Service Center for 15 years. He been elected four times to the Orlando City Council. His love for his community, and the people in it is evident. He has spent a lot of hours as an umpire for Little League baseball, and has been able to interact with a lot of parents and kids. Robert believes that quality time with family demands quantity time, and he shares his thoughts with Mike in this episode.
She has written a number of books, and helped many others write their own works. Her latest book is a challenge to all who want to grow in overcoming anger. Jacquelyn Lynn is an author and publisher with a love for writing, and her latest book - "The 7 Day Anger Challenge" is a small book that may well pack a big impact. She talks about the book in this return trip to the Shepherd studio.
Mikella Van Dyke grew up in Thailand, the daughter of missionaries, and this heritage really took root in her heart. She also developed a great love for study of the Word of God, and is nearing a Masters Degree in Theology. She leads "Chasing Sacred", a ministry to teach women to study the Word. James Knapp grew up in a Pentecostal church, and was a serious athlete, even playing college ball. His grandfather helped shape his direction, and now he is the Associate VP of Development for Palm Beach Atlantic University.
