God cares for His people very much, so He is very specific about what they should and should not do. There were many bad influences that God did not want them to pick up from the pagan nations that they were coming into contact with.

By the sin offering, God made a way for sinners to cover certain sins. But Christ, the perfect Lamb of God, takes away ALL our sins. What moved the prophet to address Judah’s leaders with a strong rebuke and biting satire was that their war planning not only ignored and factored God out of their plans, but that they also asked an idol-worshipping nation to be their help! Yahweh was passed over for the military of Egypt. The fact is that Egypt could only take Judah’s money, but did nothing to turn the Assyrian army away; Yahweh did that. Isaiah called Judah’s behavior sin.

This caused an outcry by a man named Demetrius, which in turn led to an uproar in the city. Their protests became very confused and large enough to draw concern. It all pictures the world’s way of thinking about the Gospel as a misguided ball of confusion.

Later, the king, in pride showed off too much wealth to Babylonia envoys who came to celebrated his miraculous recovery. Isaiah chastened the king for this and prophesied the consequence which was fulfilled a century later.

Paul and Barnabas returned to Antioch Syria after the Jerusalem council with a confirmation letter stating that Gentile Christians do not have to become Jewish in order to be saved by the Jewish Messiah Jesus Christ. They read the official letter to the church which was received with joy. Then Paul and Barnabas hotly contended with each other over follow up ministry in Galatia, which ended up in a temporary split between the two. They had served together through thick and thin times and would continue to serve the Lord in good times and bad.
