Rick is the Founder & Artistic Director of The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra which is an historic American music repertory ensemble which tours year-round throughout the United States and abroad. Along with over 30 years with The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra (which was founded when Rick was still a student at Juilliard), Rick conducts, arranges music, lectures and teaches Tuba and euphonium. Eva Armstrong joins Stephanie and Angela to talk about following your heart, tenacity and the unconditional love of dogs. Eva is the owner and co-founder of Eva's Play Pups "the ultimate doggy destination" a 66 acre farm near the Poconos that boards dogs year round (they have special van transport for nyc doggies to enjoy sleep-away camp). Eva's passion for rescue dogs led her to co-found the non-profit rescue organization Badass Animal Rescue, which has been operating for over a decade and has saved the lives of thousands of dogs. The phrase "someone's thunder" comes from the theater – but not a famous line from a bard – a stolen special effect! In the early 1700s a new sound effect swept theaters uncredited and the phrase to steal someone’s thunder was born.
Isn’t that the way with art? Who cares where it’s from – if it makes us feel, we want more of it – in different ways – again and again!
