Hello my good things!
Welcome back after a long hiatus. On today's episode Leesh talks about her time spent on an Australian farm and why the heck she had to do that in the first place. This is a different episode as Leesh takes you first hand into a more story-telling episode (WITH SOUND EFFECTS) of how she mustered up the courage to leave her boyfriend in the city and head in the country to tackle one of the hardest things she has done.
It is recommended to wear headphones for this episode and turn it up! Thanks for the continued listeners of LIfe Off The Leesh and how appreciated you are.

Today is a very significant day on the podcast because we are dropping this episode on Australia Day. However like many people who visit Australia and many people who reside here, I didn't know the dark history behind this national holiday.
Today's guest is here to educate, inform and spread awareness about the Aboriginal history of this land and why most terms describing Australia Day include Invasion Day and Survival Day.
Without further adieu, grab a drink, pull up a seat and let's welcome Rachal Allan.
A little about our guest:
I’m a proud Gamilaroi woman, born in Quirindi , a tiny town in north west NSW. I’m currently living and working in Dharawal Country, down on the South Coast.
I’m an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner – all of my jobs since I left school have been working for Aboriginal organisations or in identified positions working with community.
I did a little stint at the Aboriginal Legal Service, then as a project officer with an Aboriginal Medical Service, traveling to communities in north-west, central-west and far-west NSW to deliver education about smoking and healthy lifestyles.
I’ve lived in Wollongong for almost 6 years. For 5 years, I worked at the Aboriginal Medical Service here. Now I work for a sports club as their Indigenous Programs Coordinator and get to work with kids and communities promoting healthy lifestyles education and organising all the clubs events around important dates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people like NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week events.

They chat about the build up to Christmas, with the main, obvious reason being winter vs summer. Jamie talks about different activities Aussies do on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, mainly just drinking beer in air conditioning somewhere.
Leesh talks about the lineup her family and most Canadians do on a classic Christmas INCLUDING watching the World Juniors Hockey on boxing day (which sadly, does not exist this year), and more!

Day 2 of Leeshmas is ALL about gift giving and buying local!
Especially during this hard time, it is so important to remember the true meaning of the Holidays and just being with loved ones.
Today, Leesh talks about how long gift giving has been around for (also that male monkeys give their female partners food for gifts and if that isn't the best gift of all I don't know what is).
She then explains that if you can't think of anything to get someone, try and think of an experience or memory as a gift instead. Sustainable and memorable!
Lastly, she dives into the importance of buying local and local websites both in Australia and Canada to shop from espeically supporting small businesses during this covid-19 pandemic.
Grab a cup of hot cocoa and let's get started!

A quick note: under no circumstance is this episode shaming anyone who has settled down, found their person and/or made a family in their twenties. If you have, we are over the moon for you!! This episode is about embracing what you have at your own time in your life, and if you have found your own timeline already then we couldn't be happier :)
Today, we have a special guest who is joining us from Canada. She has travelled the world, went deep sea diving, sandboarded down volcanoes and literally jumped out of a plane in the sky (by CHOICE).. has a dog and a cat and enjoys boxed wine on weekends... everyone welcome Kayla Fraser!
Kayla and Alicia met 10 some years ago and have bonded through their years of singlehood and relationships, always taking time to talk about those deep life chats at 1am (while drinking wine). Today, Kayla and Alicia talk about society's pressures of "having it all" by 30, and that is is O.K to live your life at your own pace. Alicia gives her perspective of dating in her late twenties and having relationships build organically while Kayla puts her spin on being single and trying to date in a pandemic. They end the podcast with some cringey date stories and end with a few laughs.

My guest and I choose a random topic on Google and roll with it for 30 minutes. This was such a fun episode to record with Jamie and we even learned some new things about each other!
This is an unscripted, funny short and sweet episode that talks about the lighter side of things between my more deep and meaningful episodes. SO grab a drink and pretend you’re sitting down with us, and let’s have some Life Chats about Nothing.
