Cathi Curen has spent over 30 years researching the dynamics of the family. Holistic Children Radio shares the latest concepts to support today's families with their emotional, spiritual, physical, financial and environmental health.
As soon as autumn comes, people's thoughts begin to shift to the holidays, and sometimes those thoughts are accompanied by difficult feelings such as depression, frustration, and anxiety. For some, the holidays conjure up unpleasant associations, such as the first event without Grandma there, or prickly family get-togethers. Then there are financial worries, the pressure to come up with gift ideas, dealing with school kids on vacation, to-do lists, and much more.
The goal is to feel joy, love, and peace so you can enjoy time off from work, and savor meaningful moments with your family and friends. After all, don't you want to feel the season, and share it?
Jude's simple principles have impacted countless clients, seminar participants, and students. And Jude promises this: if we can learn to harness the tools we’re intrinsically born with, creating a life full of joy, love, and peace is truly possible, right here, right now.

Attitude Reconstruction: A Blueprint for Building a Better Life Jude Bijou is a licensed marriage and family therapist (MFT), an educator in Santa Barbara, California and the author of triple finalist, Attitude Reconstruction: A Blueprint for Building a Better Life (Riviera Press, 2011). As the daughter of a famous pioneer in the field of behavioral child psychology and applied behavior analysis, Jude’s upbringing sounds like it would be pretty cool. There was just one problem: she was miserable. Earning a BA in psychology from Reed College and a master’s in psychology from Carleton University, she became a marriage and family therapist. The result: an integrated, truly holistic approach to viewing ourselves and our relationships with others. Her award-winning system, Attitude Reconstruction was birthed into the world. In 1982, Jude launched a private psychotherapy practice and started working with individuals, couples, and groups. She also began teaching communication courses through Santa Barbara City College Adult Education. Word spread about the success of Attitude Reconstruction, and it wasn’t long before Jude became a sought-after workshop and seminar leader, teaching her approach to organizations and groups. Jude's simple principles have impacted countless clients, seminar participants, and students. And Jude promises this:if we can learn to harness the tools we’re intrinsically born with, creating a life full of joy, love, and peace is truly possible, right here, right now. Dr. Louise Hart’s first career was as an elementary school teacher in Michigan. Her second career was as a full-time-stay-at-home mom to her three children. During those thirteen years, she was fully committed to changing her family patterns, determined not to pass on her own harsh, fear-based upbringing. Although diminished by many as “just a housewife,” her in-depth experiences have been foundational throughout her life. Louise believes when parents’ self-esteem and knowledge improves, the behavior, mental health and self-esteem of their children also improves. Her goal thus became to enhance parents’ ability to raise healthy children—and have more fun in the process. She has developed presentations on positive parenting and resilience, and has spoken at more than 400 conferences, hospitals, school districts, communities and army installations across the country and abroad. Dr. Hart will be sharing her book “On the Wings of Self Esteem.” For more information visit: http://www.upliftprograms.com

Bright, funny and delightfully obnoxious, Meagan Johnson is known as the Generational Humorist! In a recent survey of freshman students, 1 out of 10 freshmen had parents who called them every day or every other day. A recent online poll found that 4 out of 10 college students (38%) had parents who had spoken with or attended meetings with their academic advisors. Almost a third (31%) had parents who had called professors to complain about a grade. One in 4 described their parents as "overly involved." Yet 65% of these college kids still asked for their parents' advice on academic and career paths. Are college kids sending their parents a mixed message? My guests will share how to strike a balance between hovering and guiding in this entertaining interview. Meagan Johnson and her father, Larry Johnson, are the Johnson Training Group, whose clients include several government agencies, American Express, Harley-Davidson, Nordstrom, Dairy Queen, and many others. They are leading experts on managing multigenerational workplaces, and are coauthors of "Generations, Inc.": From Boomers to Linksters--Managing the Friction Between Generations at Work. For over twenty years, Dr. Gerry Fewster ran the largest privately operated treatment centre for troubled children and their families in Canada. He has written extensively on children’s mental health issues and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at the University of Calgary. In his book, "Don't Let Your Kids be Normal," Dr. Fewster offers an in-depth developmental perspective on adult-child relationships from pre-conception onwards. Dr. Fewster believes that all children have the inherent resources to create purposeful and meaningful lives but this potential can only be unlocked through their experiences with self-conscious adults, particularly during the early years. Rather than offer alternative simplistic prescriptions, he invites individuals examine their existing beliefs and assumptions and create options that promote the growth and well-being of both adult and child. The underlying message is that until we find new ways to relate to one another, our future on this planet will remain precarious. Learn more at: http://dontletyourkidsbenormal.com
