There is an inside joke in psychology and the life coaching field that goes:

If it’s not one thing it’s the mother…

Which basically talks to the fact that almost all our issues big or small can somehow be traced back to our childhood and to the mother. Sounds unfair I know but it’s true not because mothers ‘damage’ their children, but rather because the mother is such a pivotal force in a child’s life. She is after all the life giver…

In this episode I am in conversation with Moshitadi Lehlomela, author of the famous ‘The girl who survived her mother’ on Healing The Mother wound.

In the conversation we cover amongst others:

What the mother wound is and how it finds expression, generational patterns of mother wounding, mother wound in relationships, mother wound and money. We also cover Moshitadi’s relationship with her mother and much more.

In this episode we begin a series honouring phenomenal women under the theme Heart to Heart With…

We begin with the PR Powerhouse herself Lebo Madiba. We cover her back story that led to her passion for PR, her entrepreneurial journey , her short stint in corporate and much more…

Bio

LEBO MADIBA Lebo is a strategic communication expert, a content maverick, brand builder, a technology enthusiast, and a PR maven. Her over 20-years journey in PR, digital, marketing includes roles in both agency and corporate, as well as the less travelled journey of entrepreneurship. She uses her blend of expertise in PR, brand and marketing, to help South African and multinational brands solve complex business challenges, and to build and protect corporate reputation. In 2011 she established PR Powerhouse, a strategic public relations consultancy that grew over a period of time to handle the reputation management, crisis communication and transformation driven communications of blue chip companies such as SAA, Nedbank, Cricket South Africa, South African Chamber of Commerce, Business Unity South African and the South African Civil Aviation Authority amongst others. At the time one of her clients also included a mid-cap JSE listed black industrialist and technology company then known as Ansys Limited. Ansys was reposition- ing itself to become a leading technology business geared to be part of South Africa's 4th industrial revolution journey. The business acquired a number of business that would enable their ability to be a wholesale provider - as part of this process, they recognised that they needed to have strategic communications and marketing to amalgamate its people, services and products, and took a decision to bring Lebo into the fold by acquiring her PR business and repositioned it as its in-sourced Marketing and PR department with Lebo, as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). As Chief Marketing Officer she handled the rebrand of Ansys to Etion, amalgamated its 4 subsidiaries under one brand, and took them on a journey of the design of a common culture and employee value proposition, successfully entrenching the brand with its customers, developing go-to-market strategies, as well as transitioning and landing the name change with shareholders, media and the investor community. Upon the success of Etion, she was headhunted to Ogilvy South Africa's PR and Influence business, as Managing Partner - one of the largest branding and communications companies in the country and the most awarded. In 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, she took the decision to re-establish PR Powerhouse, as a strategy, data, insights, influence, content and reputation management agency. If you are anyone who is on a healing journey or has a life coach or even in therapy, I am sure you have heard any of these sentences:

The body knows, the body remembers, the body keeps scores, It's in the body or feel it in the body, feel into the body... and many more. Well, it's because the body truly is a gift we have, it is indeed our temple and it is vessel to truth, healing and wellbeing if only we are to listen and believe the body.

In this episode I am in conversation with the incredible

in the second part of the episode we delve deep into healing, initiation, the wounded healer, teaching the things that we most need to learn and much more

Talk therapy is where she does in person or distance energy healing and clearing.

If you don’t find her on the mat teaching, she is either practicing yoga, reading, writing, dancing , in nature alone or with loved ones trying to fill her cup. She believes in the art of simplicity and loves to create a space, to feel the wholeness of any experience. Her philosophy is geared towards simplifying your practice so you can simplify your life.

In this Episode I am in conversation with Ahaumna AhMaYah on our (my) money wounds and story. This is perhaps the most personal conversation I have ever had on the podcast. It was also the most healing and freeing in ways I cannot explain just yet. The conversation is about my deepest wound which is money, if you have been listening to the podcast for a while you know of my strange relationship with money.

In this part 1 of the conversation, we focus on my money story and the wound thereof. I share the story of losing everything I ever created at a tender age of 31 when I went bankrupt. Ahaumna helps me unpack and process that deep wound and helps me come into some epiphanies and aha moments. She makes me see what I could not see all these years.

We go one to cover other themes of money in the world, how the spirit of money is evolving and changing simultaneously with Mother Earth. We talk about the current system of money being backed by Debt and Pain of others and that money wants to be used differently for the betterment of all, and a lot more.

It was a necessary conversation that was deeply healing for me.

In this episode I am in conversation with Barbar Symons on her incredible book Escaping Christianity-Finding Christ.

Triggering as this title may seem, having read the book several times, I found that the title does not do justice to what is covered in the book. It is not just a memoir of someone who left church, it is far deeper, more re-assuring and comforting to many who are struggling with the idea of Church but Love God and the teachings of Jesus.

In the conversation we touch on her back story of having grown in fundamentalist Christian home - he moment of awakening and some themes she covers in the book. The conversation will definitely stretch many but will also bring much comfort to those of you who are wrestling with whether or not to remain in church.

Bio and Contacts

Bio

Barbara has been married to Lyle for forty-five years and is a mother of three, a grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of one. She lives in College Station, Texas.

Barbara is writer, an ordained minister and has counseled hundreds of people seeking freedom from spiritual oppression and possession. Her education spans decades within and without of the organized church system. She is the author of two books titled, Escaping Christianity ~ Finding Christ and Musings from an EX Christian Fundamentalist. Barbara is committed to helping others find freedom from restrictive religious systems that have employed programming and questionable doctrinal practices.

In this powerful episode I am in conversation with Fezy Thwala about all things Life coaching. You may or may not know that the field or profession of Life Coaching is not quite new, even though to many it seems new. '....But Coach, why can't I expect happiness in my relationship, if he doesn't make me happy, then what's the point.' I got this question from one of my beloved coaching clients a few months ago during our session, and for the first time in my coaching career, I felt that the usual coaching response of 'It's not his job to make you happy' did not suffice. I paused for a while then turned the question on her 'What's the point indeed, what do you think the point of your relationship is?' Her question stayed with me for the rest of that day, I wondered if we coaches and teachers dig deep enough on some of these matters, or do we tend to slide into autopilot and coachiee language and responses. I really wanted to explore this topic further with a fellow coach, and when it comes to relationship matters there is no one better than my friend Jo Ntsebeza. So I called her up and we went for it. Jo and I often go to the very deep end when we converse, this conversation was no different, it has lots of aha moments and deep insights on the nature or relationships, it will irritate and liberate you at the same time. Coaching has been an accepted form of self improvement, self empowerment, personal growth and healing since the late 90s. Yet there are still a lot more people who do not understand its importance in their lives. Having coached for over eight years, and also having been coached myself by different coaches for different aspects of my life - I know for a fact that I would not be where I am right now nor can do the things I am able to do in my life.

It is for this reason I invited two brilliant coaches, Bulelwa and Makhotso to have a conversation on coaching. In the conversation we cover a spectrum of topics around coaching from why is it scary for people, the benefits of coaching, different coaching niches, the fees of coaching, the pet peeves of coaches and a lot more. The conversation is meant to demystify this because helpful and priceless practice of coaching. If you have been apprehensive about coaching. I trust this conversation will shed some light and you will take the plunge to go for it, because trust me, you can only gain from it.

Marriage as an institution has become one of those polirizing topics, I have openly expressed my disinterest in the institution before - while I no longer have strong emotions against marriage, I still don't have a strong inclination to get married. I have however reached a stage where I do see the sanctity and the beauty of Marriage.

Felicia Buthelezi, affectionately know as 'Mrs B' by her endearing audience, is probably one of the best, if not the best person to have a conversation on marriage with.

In the conversation we cover a variety of themes around marriage including the reality of the patriarchal system, whether or not marriage serves men better than women. We cover the power of choice for women even in the patriarchal system and the victim mentality that we unconsciously fall into as women. The conversation is meant to be about marriage but it is about a lot more than that. ----more----

BIO

Felicia Buthelezi well known as "Mrs B" launched Fisokuhle Media which publishes I do Magazine and hosts an annual event for married couples called the I do Awards. She gracefully carries her brand with so much grace and honor. She won the hearts of many married couples when she started a unique family oriented brand called "I do" in 2011

Felicia Buthelezi is a mother of 2 boys, a wife and a business woman. Her dream was to bring back marriage into fashion as the tag line of her brand is Healthy Marriages Happy Homes sums it all.

Sex and Sexuality has intrigued us humans since the beginning of time, which is interesting because we still do not have straight forward conversations about it. We either over inflate sex when we talk about it or we don't talk about it at all, it does not make it to a normal conversation. It is for that reason I invited Casey Blake a Sex Counsellor and Educator to unpack some of the questions I have always had about Sex and Sexuality.

The conversation is uncomfortable, vulnerable, political and very stretchy but it is all worth it. ----more----

BIO

Casey is a Registered Counsellor and sex educator. Her focus for sex education is mainly for parents and adults, who are curious about making topics around bodies, sex and sexuality with children less taboo and more normal. Her approach to sex and sexuality topics is stretchy and pushes us to go to uncomfortable spaces but those space are extremely transformational.

She is the founder of What Now Counselling where she counsels people with sexual trauma. She also runs workshops und the banner Tools For Having The Talks where she helps parents with tools on how to talk to their children about their bodies and sex.

In this conversation however, you are going to get to know another side of Phemelo. She is refreshingly authentic and open, she shares with me her early days as a radio personality, how acting and fame were never the plan. Her struggles with fame and celebritydom, how radio has always been her first love, her smart and curious mine, her views on relationships, money and many more. ----more----

Her love for radio was written in the stars, it was always going to be radio and other interests would be secondary. Her radio career quickly took shape, she joined Metro fm at 20 years old as a news reader then a weekend afternoon host.

Television then soon beckoned with greater demands, leading her to focusing on her role in the popular soap Generations for a few years. She had other business interests in between all her media activities, but she returned to her first love after a long break in media to join Talk Radio 702. Motene's time at 702 was truly fulfilling; working with a strong, inteligent, ambitious group of people was pure joy. She was a senior content producer for business, current affairs and life-style shows, and went back to the mic as presenter there too.

Motene has returned to the National broadcaster as the lunchtime Presenter on SAfm. Her show is called Life Happens.

Manti Maifadi

As a child Manti Maifadi used to follow her father everywhere he went – leading to her curiosity about plants and nature. Beyond her father’s influence, her early development consisted of conversations with her grandmother on plants and nature, a peculiar upbringing to anyone growing in the modern world, but very normal as she remembers it. This has led Manti to a life filled with the abundance of nature and a passion of doing things with her hands.

Her resume reads like a script out of a fairytale – with Naledi, a 3 hectors farm named after her youngest child where visitors can find healing by interacting with the land. Manti holds a Masters of Science Degree (Cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand and has more than ten years experience in public health. She is a published author of a children’s book “Tshimong Ya Meroho le Naledi” and a published author in the field of science.

In this episode I’m in conversation with Itumeleng Makale discussing the elusive topic of masculinity.

I chose this subject because the tendency is to talk about femininity. I also chose this topic because it has become difficult to speak of masculinity without adding the prefix; toxic. Such that all we seem to know about masculinity is toxic masculinity.

Itu is one of the few men I know who can unpack this subject from different angles.

In this conversation he unpacks masculinity from the physiological angle to spiritual, cultural and to behavioral angle

We inevitably cover many sub topics such as capitalism, patriarchy, feminism, womanism and black families.

The conversation is stretchy and insightful. You are in for a treat----more----

Casey is a Registered Counsellor and sex educator. Her focus for sex education is mainly for parents and adults, who are curious about making topics around bodies, sex and sexuality with children less taboo and more normal.

Her approach is stretchy in that she pushes us to go to uncomfortable spaces but those space are extremely transformational.

We covered the taboos of why we, as adults and parents, are often uncomfortable speaking about certain body parts and functions with our children. This lead to talking about boundaries, consent, sex, sexuality and how we live in a society that makes speaking about these topics even harder.
