There is a virus ravaging America and it's called Covid-19. Three months ago, no one knew that it existed. But now this virus has spread to every part of the world. It has filled our hospitals, emptied our public spaces, and kept us all at home.
Frontline healthcare workers are our heroes as they are seeing the worst of it all. Today I am talking with one of them. She happens to be a Lean In circle leader (Latinasurge.org)and an ER doctor in the New Jersey area, just a few miles from NYC.
Shreni is an Emergency Medicine trained and board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician and has been in practice now for 14 years.
She has worked in inner cities, suburban, and rural emergency departments.
Currently practicing in northern New Jersey, Shreni will share her views as a frontline worker during this pandemic. She will also talk the struggles women have to advance in the world of medicine. She will also tell us what she is doing to help stay healthy and keep her family healthy as well.

This summer I had a chance to visit Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a few days. It was so much fun taking my daughter there and seeing my old vacation spot.
Growing up I used to spend a whole week in Myrtle Beach, body surfing, playing in the sand, taking walks down the beach and having fun on the strip. Back then the strip had a few restaurants, two arcades(my hangout), the wax museum and tons of gift shops. One, in particular, was my favorite.
Things have changed and now when I visit I try to find hidden gems that keep the spirit of Myrtle Beach alive for me. I do believe I have found some great places to share with you.

A day to bring awareness to this inequality in the U.S. As the host of Rising Stories Podcast and Regional Leader for Lean In Tennessee, I want to share some data today from Lean IN.org on the pay gap for Latina women and the implications it has had on our futures and our families.
Here are just a few calls to action provocations.
- Many Equal Rights Advocates are taking the lead on implementation and enforcement efforts related to the Fair Pay Act. Find out who they are in your city.
- Vote at this year’s election on November 6.
- Tell your representatives in Congress to vote for legislation that will close the Latina Wage Gap.
- Read and Share the LeanIn.org & McKinsey annual study Women in the Workplace
- Support your Latina co-workers & friends (don’t have one, connect with me on LinkedIn or Instagram)
You can also turn awareness into action by joining a Lean In circle and taking strides toward a more equal world. Lean In Circles are small peer groups that meet regularly to share ideas, gain skills, seek advice, and show solidarity. They're a place where women can be unapologetically ambitious. Being in a circle has allowed me to ask for what I want and to aim higher. I am supported by a whole world of powerful women.

October is breast cancer awareness month and my guest today is no stranger to the struggles and challenges of cancer. She has written a book called Lavender Hair that follows her fight against breast cancer and her journey to wholeness. You might know her best from a show called Saturday Night Live. In this episode I share about my experiences while attending the Lean In Leaders Conference 2017 in Palo Alto, CA.
Landing in California, meeting up with a Lean In circle leader from Milan, boarding the CalTrain to Silicon Valley, was just the beginning of an amazing weekend. 75 Lean In Leaders from 17 countries across the globe, including China, Poland, El Salvador, Pakistan, India, Malaysia and Japan gathered for the 3rd Annual Lean In Leaders Conference.
I'll tell you about the time I got stuck at Facebook Headquarters, about the awesome speakers at the conference and of course, about my dinner with Sheryl Sandberg.
Lean In is a nonprofit organization started by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO and author of Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead & Option B. It is now a strong movement with over 33,000 regional and corporate chapters and circles supporting women in leadership and removing those barriers to advancement.

My guest today is Laura Lea Goldberg. Laura has written a cookbook called Laura Lea Balanced Cookbook and many of her delicious & healthy recipes have been featured on sites such as Southern Living, Clean Eating, and Shape magazine. Laura shares her journey to NYC, and how she discovered her love for healthy foods & cooking. She also talks about her story of being an introvert in a busy big city and how eating anti-inflammatory foods helped her anxiety.
