Greetings and Welcome to Episode 19 on the Kingdom Standard Podcast!

In today's conversation, I'm opening up and delving into my personal experience of returning to Houston, Texas. I'll share how this journey became a transformative chapter in my life, guided by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Verse 3: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.

1 Samuel 16: 1-4

Verse 1: Now the Lord said to Samuel, "You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king."

Verse 2: But Samuel asked, "How can I do that? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me."

"Take a heifer with you," the Lord replied, "and say that you have come to make a sacrifice to the Lord.

Verse 3: Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you which of his sons to anoint for me."

Verse 4: So Samuel did as the Lord instructed. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town came trembling to meet him. "What's wrong?" they asked. "Do you come in peace?"

Greetings!

Welcome to episode 8 titled From London to Lagos: Navigating Nigeria Through a Diasporian's Lens with Bukky Ogunjimi. Relocating back to Africa is becoming a more common trend. Many diasporans are giving up their current lifestyles to make a change in their current living situation for various reasons. Our guest Bukky is sharing her story on why she moved to Nigeria twice from London as well as providing great tips of advice on how members specifically women in the diaspora can successfully move back to Africa.

Here are 3 Tips Bukky recommends for relocating to Africa:

Tip#1- Prepare in Advance: Congratulations! You've decided to make the big move to Africa. But before you hop on the plane, make sure you thoroughly prepare in advance. Living on the continent is extremely exciting, however is vastly different than living in the States or the UK. Research, make connections, make a list, and pack all of your essential and non-essentials items you would need for the first 3 months of your stay.

Tip#2- Make Sure You Have a Job: Although living in Africa can be more cost-effective than living in the States or the UK, it is important that you have or secure a stable source of income. Post your arrival to your designated African country, you will need to ensure you have a steady stream of monetary resources to survive.

Tip#3- Make Connections: Moving to a new neighborhood can be different however moving across the country definitely has its challenges. As a person who has moved to back to Nigeria twice, I highly recommend newcomers to network. Networking allows you to establish relationships with people who can be of great assistance in your relocation process... It starts with a simple hi!

About Bukky Ogunjimi

Bukky Ogunjimi is a digital marketing professional who has worked with and built many brands around the world. She recently moved back to Nigeria from London, for a second time.
