Funny old game isn't it? When we look back on the West Brom draw this weekend it's perfectly normal to feel frustrated, relieved, and positive. It was frustrating we didn't hold on for the win, we're relieved to not lose the game after the performance, and it's a positive result in a game we could have won with some better decision making. Burnley travel to the Emirates this weekend to take on an Arsenal side that looks very different from when we played them at Turf Moor.
Now, Arsenal are knocking on the door of the Champions League and stand a very good chance of sneaking into it if they can continue their impressive form, especially at home.
Burnley on the other hand have slumped to the bottom of the Premier League table, but with several games in hand, after results last weekend didn't go their way.
Burnley won at the Emirates last season - can they repeat that? This will most likely be seen as a free hit by Dyche, but they really need to start picking up some points from somewhere soon.
Life without Chris Wood begins this weekend for Burnley at what is the worst possible time.
Two winnable games were coming up for the Clarets - but with Wood gone and Maxwel Cornet away at AFCON - they suddenly seem a lot less winnable.
But we all know that Burnley are at their best when they're being written off and their back is against wall. Dyche will hopefully be able to use this latest adversity as a motivation to steer us clear of the drop, starting this weekend.
If that is to happen though one thing is for certain - things need to change on the pitch when it comes to performances - at least Wood's absence will force some personnel change at the very least, maybe even a shape change.
Burnley ended 2021 with the worst points per game ratio in the entire Football League. Yep, you read that right - the entire Football League. Everybody else in the country has had a better year than us in terms of points gained.
It really is time for Burnley to start showing everyone that they're serious about staying up. Everybody always says that Burnley will be ok because they always grind out results under Sean Dyche but we just haven't started doing it yet this season.
Dyche keeps telling us that the mentality is right and the players are playing well. In fairness give or take a few games this season I agree with him. But it's time to start showing it. Time to start grinding out results again, Time to prove to us you can do it. New year, new Burnley - please.
Burnley are scheduled to take on Everton this weekend on Boxing Day as the festive fixtures get underway in the Premier League.
That is of course if the game goes ahead - the last two Clarets matches have been called off at the final hour - and now Everton put an official request in to the Premier League that this game was called off, although it was rejected.
Will we actually see a game of football for the first time in three attempts or will the Premier League just announce the postponement a couple of hours before kick off again?
Knowing the Premier League it's probably the latter, but if the game does go ahead with Everton having only 10 senior players available including the goalkeeper, then we really do need to take advantage of this.
Well Burnley go into the game at Villa Park this weekend still in the relegation zone, but at least it's not because we lost the must win game against Watford which was of course was called off.
However the cancellation will give Burnley more rest than their counterparts who played against Norwich in midweek and will of course give them time to get star man Maxwel Cornet back on the pitch.
It's a tough task against a decent Villa side under Steven Gerrard who seemed to have turned a corner since his arrival - but the Clarets can take confidence from their draws away at Chelsea and Leicester so far this season.
Burnley will look to out the shambolic performance against Newcastle United behind them this weekend when they take on West Ham United at Turf Moor.
However West Ham will be going into this game on the back of an impressive win against Chelsea at the London Stadium last weekend and had already cried through their Europa League group which meant they had the luxury of resting players on Thursday's European fixture.
Burnley on the other hand, well, the less said about Newcastle the better but the Clarets have played well in previous games and they need to rediscover that whilst simultaneously learning to finish teams off when they play like this.
It won't be easy against a very good West Ham side who currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
The Clarets travel to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United this weekend in what is being labelled as a relegation 6-pointer by the media, and in truth it would be difficult to disagree.
Newcastle are of course now managed by former Burnley boss Eddie Howe, who is yet to pick up a win since his move to Tyneside.
Both sides need to get going this season, and both will see this as a winnable game, so that promises for plenty of action.
It's getting to the time of the season where Burnley NEED to start winning games and they NEED to start winning them fast.
The Clarets form has improves of late, but after only one win so far in the Premier League this season Sean Dyche's men are starting to look in a precarious position.
But it won'e be easy in this weeks clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers who have had a fantastic start to the season under new manager Bruno Lage.

Big Bad Burnley take on Arsenal this weekend at Turf Moor in the Premier League still looking for their first win of the season. Arsenal though haven't exactly had a good start to the season, although they did win last time out against Norwich.
Arsenal are a club though that last season Burnley had a decent record against - with a famous first ever win against The Gunners at The Emirates Stadium and a draw at Turf Moor.
The under pressure Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has never won a game as a manager against Burnley's Sean Dyche - who will be buoyed this week by finally signing his new contract.
Fingers cross this can fire Dychey and the boys up and we see the Clarets run out winners on Saturday.

Burnley take on Everton this Monday at Goodison Park hoping to get their first win of the season in what is expected to be a tough game.
Everton have had a decent start to the season - after an opening day win against Southampton followed by a decent draw at Leeds and a good win down at Brighton.
Burnley will look back at last season though when they got an impressive win at Goodison Park largely due to a screamer from certified star boy Dwight McNeil.
The Clarets have got their season up and running after a point at home against Leeds in a game that in truth they deserved more, but in an opposite to the norm, Burnley actually made things happen during the transfer window and Brough players in n deadline day? Weird feeling.
Two defeats out of two for Burnley so far in the Premier League but the cup has provided a little bit of respite as the Clarets progress on penalties against Newcastle up at St James' Park.
But Leeds are next for the Clarets in the Premier League and we all know what happened last season at the Turf...
It wasn't the start we wanted or even expected, but Burnley's defeat to Brighton on the opening day means the Clarets are staring down the barrel of another poor start like last season with tough fixtures coming up.

The ghosts of 1996 & 1990 can finally be put to rest after England overcame Germany in a knockout game for the first time since 1996.
A brilliant England performance was capped off by a two well-worked goals that were finished by Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.
The result sends England into the Quarter-Final's where they will play Ukraine, but that's only half the story as the The Three Lions have a clear path to the final. Anything other than an appearance in the final is unacceptable at this stage.
It was probably the most boring watch in the entire history of football - but England are through to the last 16!!
Unfortunately - we face the old enemy Germany. Fortunately - they're not as good as they used to be!
And then if (when) we beat them, England have a ridiculously easy route to the final.
Surely even Southgate can't mess this one up?
After the first round of the group stages were completed, it's time for the TurfCast lads to come out of hibernation and discuss what's happening at this summer's international football tournament!
England got off to a good start after a 1-0 win over Croatia, but plenty of other sides have got off to good starts with Italy, Belgium, France & Portugal all looking impressive.
The lads also discuss some of the latest goings on in the worlds of Burnley FC on the day the Premier League fixtures for 2021/22 were released and the latest news that Ashley Young looks set to choose Aston Villa over Turf Moor.
It was a lacklustre performance that brought to a close a lacklustre season.
Burnley were poor at Bramall Lane against Championship-bound Sheffield United from the beginning after unusually starting in a 451 formation with Vydra on the bench, despite his good work in recent months.
With Pope injured it was Will Norris in the net with BPF on the bench but once again the stand-in goalkeeper's performance left a lot of fans questioning his ability to stand in for Pope.
The phrase 'sweep under the carpet' comes to mind when it comes to this weekends result against Leeds United.
No real complaints though as Burnley were outclassed in every area of the pitch and were beaten by the better side.

🎧 🎙 We've done it. Burnley MATHEMATICALLY safe. Another season of Premier League football has been secured. Sean Dyche is a genius and we must protect him at all costs.
The Clarets secured that sixth season of Premier League football after their second win at Cravan Cottage this season against Fulham.
It was another game where the points were secured in the first half after Ashley Westwood capped off a lovely move by Vydra and Woody sent a rocket into the top bins to continue his excellent form.
Let's be fair - Burnley absolutely TROUNCED Wolves at Molinuex. A massive win for the Clarets against a good, but admittedly injury depleted Wolves side.
It could have been more too. It was the perfect performance from the Clarets who played like a side under no pressure whatsoever. High press, fast passing, solid defending. It had everything.
Chris Wood will of course get the plaudits for his hat-trick, and rightly so, but every single one of them lads were fantastic and gave everything.
Wow. What a week it's been for this beautiful game that we all love.
On the pitch, Burnley lost again, but the result didn't tell the full story. Burnley played well and looked better defensively than they have done in recent weeks which gives us a bit of hope results can start picking up as we move forward.
Off the pitch, well where to start? If you've missed it you've been living under a rock. The lads of course discussed the failed football coup attempt by the 'big six'.
Let's face it, we should be relaxed and on the beach now after taking the lead in our last two games against teams in and around us.
But no, bizarrely we have suddenly forgotten how to defend a lead, when it's usually what we're best at, at the worst possible time.
Still plenty of games left and most importantly still 7 points clear, if Fulham pick up then we could be in some real danger.
Let's face it, we should be ten points clear right now.
But we're not, we're seven. To be fair it could have been worse had Fulham held on but thankfully Villa did us a favour there.
Hopefully we're not relying on other teams too much for the rest of the season. Newcastle up next at home. Win it and we're all but there.
Thank the lord that the international break is finally (almost) over - and for Burnley fans this one has been particularly difficult after not having a game during the last match week before the break.
In fairness it's been a bit of a mixed-bag for the Clarets out representing their country. Pope has played all three games and kept two clean sheets in the process, becoming the first ever Englishman to keep six clean sheets in his first six games for his country - but still pundits and fans are obsessed with the fact he won't do a Cruyff turn out of the box.
Brady has picked up another injury while playing for Ireland, while BPF played the two qualifying games for Northern Ireland as JBG & Matej Vydra were in and out of their sides.
But enough of that international chat because the Premier League finally returns this weekend as the Clarets travel to St Mary's to take on a struggling Southampton side who started the season brilliantly. Three points for Burnley and it's pretty much job done in terms of survival for this season.

Anyone still worried about relegation? Obviously we're not safe yet but play like that for the rest of the season we have more chance of finishing in the top half than the bottom three. UTC
Two home games since our last podcast and Burnley have managed to grab two points against decent opposition in Arsenal & Leicester.
The Clarets went in to these two games on the back of a 4-0 thrashing from Spurs but thankfully managed to put that behind them pretty quickly and edge further to safety.
Unfortunately for Sean Dyche's men though Fulham joined a long list of teams winning at Anfield to keep Clarets fans looking over their shoulder.
Burnley fell victim to a Gareth Bale masterclass at the weekend as Spurs found it all too easy to expose Burnley's weaknesses in midfield.
It doesn't get any easier for the Clarets as they welcome Leicester City to Turf Moor next before Arsenal travel to the Turf at the weekend.
As usual Joe Redmond and Simon Townley dissect all things that are Burnley FC as the lads look back at the Spurs defeat, look ahead to the game against Leicester, as well as discussing Lewis Richardson, Neil Hart, and more.
It was supposed to be the run of fixtures that pulled Burnley away from danger.
But after a poor performance against Fulham the lads put in an even worse one against West Brom to leave the Clarets looking over their shoulder.
That, coupled with a tough upcoming run of fixtures, means it will be an interesting few weeks for the Clarets.
It's been a defining week in this season for Burnley Football Club.
Games against sides in and around us has given us a brilliant opportunity to pull away from the dreaded drop zone but also meant that a bad run of results would drag us right back into it.
But after playing two of those games it's so far so good, with a win against WBA potentially pulling us 11 points clear of the drop.
It's been a frustrating wee to be a Claret.
First, we absolutely dominated Brighton at Turf Moor but failed to make the chances count and ended up with only one point to show for it when it should have been all three.
Secondly, despite a fantastic opportunity to progress to the quarter-finals in the FA Cup, Dyche fielded a very poor side and the Clarets ended up crashing out at home to championship side Bournemouth. Needs to be swept under the carpet.
Big three games coming up.
Burnley's two games this week couldn't be any more different.
The first was an impressive win against an in-form Villa side where the Clarets scored three and looked very good going forward, but that was followed up by a game against Chelsea where Burnley were simply outclassed and had pretty much zero creativity going forward.
Off the pitch though the January transfer window closed with - once again - no activity from Burnley at any point in the month. That, coupled with a couple of articles regarding the way the club was bought, has seen a rise in concern from fans over ALK Capital and new chairman Alan Pace.
What a difference a week makes?!
This time last week we were looking over our shoulder and dreading a visit to Anfield - now, after the Clarets have pulled off a historic first win at Anfield since 1974 we don't dread playing anyone right now!
Cap that off with an impressive win at Fulham which saw the Clarets progress into the 5th round of the FA Cup and everyone suddenly feels a lot better at TurfCast HQ. Now lets get these signings done!
An unlucky defeat against Manchester United has quickly become two defeats in two after a lacklustre defeat against West Ham, but with Liverpool up next lets face it - it's likely to become three defeats out of three.
After that in the league it's Aston Villa followed by Chelsea. This tough run of form could only get worse if Burnley don't buck their ideas up and fast.

It's starting to become a familiar theme of the season - Burnley defend well but the bite just isn't there up front anymore, and that was pretty much the story as Burnley lost out to Manchester United at Turf Moor thanks a second half Paul Pogba penalty.
Before that though the Clarets did manage to progress in the FA Cup, just, thanks to a penalty shoot-out win against League One MK Dons - but it was a similar story there with the Clarets looking poor up front again. Is it time to drop Chris Wood?
The lads have the debate, as well as looking both games and the ALK scouting app which Burnley partnered up with this week, before looking ahead to this weekends clash with West Ham United.
Well it was a historic week in the history of Burnley Football club, nobody can deny that.
But should we be excited or nervous about ALK's purchase of the club. How do you feel?
One thing is for certain - it's going to be an exciting few years!
Well, what a difference a few days can make.
The Clarets came away from Elland Road empty handed through no fault of their own after a shambolic refereeing performance saw Burnley on the wrong end of two decisions - and that's putting it lightly.
But just 48 hours or so later Sean Dyche's men saw off the Premier League's basement club Sheffield United at Turf Moor to ensure they bounced back from the disappointment to get the move away from the drop zone back on track.
If a performance summed up Burnley it was the performance against Wolves. Defensively solid. Compact. Clinical. That's what we like to see.
That gives Burnley an impressive return of seven points from Arsenal away, Villa away, and Wolves at home. The Clarets are finding their feet at the right time ahead of a busy Christmas period.
Next up a Pennine derby against Leeds which promises to be a Christmas cracker.
Burnley are back.
We've been crying out for a performance like that all season. We've put in a couple of shockers this season but that was much like the Burnley we all know and love. Pope pulling off worldies, Tarky & Mee solid as a rock and the midfield massive bossing the game in the middle of the park against players earning five times more than them. It's about time we got a win against those lot.
The performances are slightly getting better, even if the points aren't flowing in as regularly as we would like, but there's definitely been something to build on over the last few weeks, Man City aside.
That continued against a very good Everton side this week as the Clarets got off to a good start and went a goal up, only to be pegged back late in the first half when in truth we should have e already been two up.
However a point against Everton isn't to be sniffed at, but it's Arsenal up next for the Clarets and our record at the Emirates is not the best to put it lightly. But there's surely no better time time to play the Gunners...?
The 5-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium is becoming a bit of a tradition. What is about the Etihad that Burnley players can't handle? Hopefully one day we will get one over on them on their own patch but I wouldn't hold your breath.
But the Clarets must forget about that one as another Big game approaches as Sean Dyche's men take on Everton at Turf Moor this weekend. Thankfully it's another Saturday kick off.
The Toffee's, despite all their quality in the squad, are out of form. They went top of the table earlier in the season but 4 defeats in 5 games has proven that they're beatable. Any other Burnley side and you're fancying your chances - but this season is different.
It's finally happened, we have won a Premier League game!
It feels epic to finally get that monkey off out back and despite the tough run looming for Burnley, it definitely feels like the mentality has shifted to onwards and upwards for the fans now rather than looking over our shoulder, but lets see how we all feel after the next few fixtures.
But back to the Palace game and brilliant performances from Jay Rod (we told you so, Sean), Ben Mee, Nick Pope and a class finish from Wood has dragged us out of the relegation zone. That's the Burnley we know, that's the Burnley we love.
It kind of feels like we're calling all the Burnley games big games, which can sound a little silly so early in the season, but I'm sure nobody would disagree that this one is definitely a must-win with the fixtures are coming up.

It's the typical kind of game where the fans will say 'well if you want to stay up you've got to be beating teams like Palace at home', but Palace go into this game full of confidence and 8th in the Premier League so it's going to be a tough one.

The good news for Burnley is that Ben Mee is back from injury, and is ready for selection according to Sean Dyche. Fingers crossed the captain coming back makes all the difference.

Just when you think things have gone a little quiet on the takeover front, some bombshell news breaks out of nowhere.
We had never even heard of any interest from an Egyptian-based company when it came to buying Burnley Football Club, but now it seems these are the front-runner and contracts have already been exchanged, according to reports.
However, with Chris Farnell the lawyer representing the firm, eyebrows have to be raised at this new deal.
Have we ever had to endure a six pointer so early in the season? That's what the West Brom game felt like despite it being only the fourth game of the season.
The performance was there but the result wasn't. But like Dyche said in his post-match interviews it felt like something had come back to our performance. We actually created chances. We didn't make any stupid mistakes at the back. Admittedly it was just West Brom, but it's something.
That, coupled with Ben Mee returning to first team training this week, means that maybe, just maybe, things are looking up for Burnley..?
Internationals break usually mean boredom, and if you watched England against Denmark you would see where we're coming from, but there was still plenty of news that broke over the last week for us to get our teeth sunk into.
First of all, the Premier League announced they will finally be introducing a new PPV service, which is something fans have always wanted to see. However the Premier League thought it would be a good idea to charge £15 PER GAME, which is nothing short of scandalous.
Then, the Premier League's top six tried to grab all the power, not just in the league, but across English Football as a whole, in a proposal which was sugar-coated with the PL offering help to the EFL with loans, grants and percentages.
It's been a mad week.

Just Will Norris, a back up goalkeeper, and Dale Stephens have come in to the side, despite several first team members leaving at the start of the summer when their contracts expire.
That, coupled with a terrible start to the Premier League which has seen Burnley lose three games out of three, and there's not much to be positive about right now as a Claret.

This week the news broke that James Tarkowski would be staying at Turf Moor, until the start of January at the very least, amid interested from Leicester City and West Ham.
It came as somewhat of a pleasant shock to a lot of Burnley fans who were resigned to losing him to the Foxes, with news emerging over the summer that Tarky himself would be open to a move to the King Power Stadium.
The journalist that broke the news that he was staying was Alex James from Lancs Live, in this episode we chat to Alex about what changed after it looked certain the former Brentford man would move on.
It was the best news that we could possibly have hoped for when Alex James from Lancs Live broke the story that James Tarkowski was staying at Burnley.
The Foxes were not prepared to meet Burnley's valuation of the central defender, which meant they turned their attention to Wesley Fofana at St Etienne who is set to be unveiled at the King Power over the next day or so.
In Tarky's absence the Clarets haven't had the best start to the Premier League campaign with two defeats in two games, and with Newcastle and West Brom coming up before games against Chelsea and Tottenham, points on the board are swiftly needed.
It was a defeat for a makeshift Burnley side at the King Power Stadium on the opening day of the Premier League season, but despite the scoreline there were still some decent signs going forward. Couple that with the performance the youngsters put in at Millwall in the Carabao Cup, and at the time of writing this the imminent signing of Dale Stephens, there are some reasons for optimism.
The lads also chat about the rumours that Burnley could be close to signing Harry Wilson at Liverpool, the Sheffield United game, and of course look ahead to this weekends Premier League clash against Southampton.
Premier League football is back this weekend for Burnley at Leicester City, but not before there in Carabao Cup action in a home tie against Sheffield United at Turf Moor.
However plenty of the noises coming out of the club at the moment won't fill many of the fans with much optimism. There's rumours of rifts between Dyche and the board, not much (if anything) happening in the transfer market when it comes to incomings, and even reports of a takeover which is slowing down any progress in the transfer market.
Hopefully all this negativity doesn't carry on into the season and we get off to a good start

Against Liverpool, we went one down against the Champions of the PLANET, but came back to snatch a draw. Against Wolves, we were one down thanks to a worldy from Jimenez, only for Wood to snatch a late late draw by smashing a penalty straight into the top bin.

Football's return is getting closer and closer but we still have plenty to waffle about despite the lack of action.

This week the Premier League allows clubs to return to training which means the lads will be back down at Gawthorpe whilst the club but Sean Dyche to Crystal Palace rumours rear their head again with the London club reportedly looking for a triple Clarets swoop!
