This podcast, hosted by veteran animator Brian Finlay is about creative driven people and their journey.
Not only do we talk about their successes but we also talk about the failures that come along the way, how do they over come when the odds are against them? How do they ignore the "nay" Sayers? Why do they go to bed and wake up thinking about their artistic passion?
To put it in simple terms, they are Drawn To It!
Chris Sauve went looking for a career in animation via Sheridan College. Over the years his skill not only grew but so did his opportunities ranging from Canadian TV productions (The Raccoons) to animating on many of Disney's 2D feature films. Most recently he helped Duncan Studios create the 2D animated segments of the new Marry Popins movie.

This episode reminded me so much of why I fell in love witth animation and creativity. Brandon approaches his work with a frame of mind that I have nothing but respect for. He does not waste energy trying to chase the quality of his heero's and then beating himself up over falling short. Instead he enjoys where he is in the moment and just lets his artistic voice come through. A lot of us can not say the same, not if we are truly being honest.
Thank you for inspiring me Brandon!

My guests this episode are Roberto Williams and Charles Grant. Roberto is a life long BATMAN fan and this pushed him into the art of toy customization. Through the years he has hand crafted every tiny detail for his Legends of Gotham City diorama experience. We show off their work within the video! Several years ago he recruited fellow BATMAN fan Charles Grant to bring his expertise in VFX to make a more immersive experience. Charles handles the lighting and digital VFX for the shows, video promotions and interactive elements, such as a working bat computer!
Growing Up in New York Roberto was not exposed to a celebrated geek community like we have in today's pop culture. His hobby of toy customization was well off the path most traveled during the 70's and 80's. However inspiration and perseverance kept him going and now his super detailed and immersive Legends of Gotham City diorama showcase is bringing in audience attention from all over.
He does not charge admission, he does not sell his customization's...he only want's to share an engaging experience with people. In a world filled with polarizing points of view important protests for equality and paralyzing health mandates, it's nice to know someone is only looking to share a little joy through their art and is asking nothing in return.
Once public gathering's are allowed again be sure to look for one of Roberto's showcases!

Life is surprising, imagine starting your career as an animator and then finding yourself becoming a props master on films as big as Independence Day! Wow! On top of that imagine you own a highly respected art gallery and that you have a film project in the works that has been many years in the making!
Such a reality is every day life for my guest Tommy Ardolino! What an amazing career and it shows no signs of slowing.

James Mullinger may be from south London and he may have had a successful career working for high end publishing companies like GQ but he now calls Saint John NB his home and is a voice and champion of Canadian talent and living.
James left behind a world of success in publishing and took the plunge into stand up comedy and he has not looked back. When he isn't performing to sold out crowds globally he can be found working with his wife and art team on the next issue of their Atlantic Canadian Lifestyle Magazine "The Maritime Edit" ,which it my opinion is one of the highest quality magazines I have ever read! This magazine is produced with a small but 5 star talented team of industry pros and all from the comfort of their homes, it's unreal!
James currently has not one but TWO comedy specials on Amazon Prime

What can you say about writer/producer Craig Miller? This man was on holy ground as a consultant on the set of Empire Strikes back! He was on set for The Dark Crystal and everyone's favorite Sesame Street! He has sold animated shows as well as written for them, my favorite being The Real Ghost-busters!
Craig offers wisdom nuggets for independent producers looking to get their show(s) off the ground or represented! We talk modern technology, work from home for studios and how everyone wants to sue Hollywood.
A big thank you to Craig Miller who broke from a very busy day to spend a little time with 'Ol Toon Face here.

My first solo podcast and it was very scary! To be honest I wanted to bail on it completely but that would not be practicing what I preach. I recap some notes talked about during a recent virtual-Con and also a bit of a rapid fire on how I got hired by Disney. And as if that wasn't enough blabbering, I talk about the true meaning of “Fake It Till You Make It” and what it really means to me.
I have some amazing guests and upgrades coming for the podcast and I can not wait to share the new episodes with you! Share, subscribe and comment!

If you grew up in the late 80's and through the 90's Tad Stones most likely had an impact on you. He is the creator of Darkwing Duck and produced, directed and did story art for a great many Disney projects (Gummi Bears, Aladdin,Rescue Rangers....just to name a few). On top of that he has directed two Hellboy animated films and developed and produced content for Universal Studios.
Tad learned the animation craft under the guidance of one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Eric Larson. Tad talks about how hard he worked in studio and on his own time to produce work that would be received well by his peers and supervisors.
Strap in, this is one for the books!
Thank you Tad for sharing your inspiring journey.

In this episode we speak with web comic producer and co-owner of the iconic comic book and gaming store "Heroes' Beacon", none other than Gregory Grondin.
We do a deep dive on some of the trends of the comic book industry and the struggles of being an independent artist, from getting ones self published to finding other means of getting your stories out there such as online distribution.
Gregory discusses the importance of supporting local artists and how artists need to be less competitive and more sharing with their resources.

Episode 09 is here and we are back within my tribe of creatives “2D Animators” and my guest on this episode is a pure 2D Animation talent, Chris Wieme.
Chris and I met while working at Disney together and we bonded over the love of classical animation, I mean the real old stuff from before digital 2D. Chris has become a modern master of it in my opinion and works super hard at the daily struggle of artistic self improvement. He views his work through the humble lens of “This could be better” and that is after giving it everything he could, that's how much he respects the audience, he never just settles.
Chris opens up in a very candid conversation about the path of his career. He opens up so much that we had to split this podcast into two episodes. Please enjoy Part one!

This episode my special guest is John Frank! Not only is he widely regarded as one of the best high school teachers in the Saint John area, but he is also die hard theatrical actor who says to do everything when selecting roles. No role is too small!
Despite the awful anxiety and emotional struggles his roles put on him, he has managed to stay on stage in a part of the world where opportunities for creatives are not plentiful.
Included in his professional performing career is his time with the children's entertainment group Kids At Heart! Before the Wiggles were everywhere Kids At Heart were touring eastern Canada and growing in popularity, Why did they stop? All this and more in this very insightful interview with Mr. John Frank.

How does a very talented animation artist transition into a top Tattoo artist? That's what Jon Vaughan talks about in the latest Drawn To It Podcast episode. Many of us creative types deal with crippling anxiety, something Jon also struggles with. We cover a lot of ground in this episode including some memories from when Jon and I were in college together at NBCC Miramichi for the first year of the classical animation program circa 1997.
