It has been a while since I've been online. It's now 2022 and I've just edited this episode that has sat handsomely on my laptop for months, unedited. A heap has happened in my life like I bought a house and my wife is pregnant!!!! She's 33 and a half weeks!!! A baby is on the way!!
On today’s episode, I’ll be talking about my limited time in Cairns and disastrous time on Fitzroy Island, and the news that made me cancel my second night, get straight on the Fitzroy Flyer and return home to Melbourne via Brisbane.

Visit the Sydney Opera House, I love it, it’s close to the Rocks and Circular Quay and there’s an amazing view of the Sydney Harbour, and the Bridge. Also, spend some time in the botanical garden nearby. I spent a year there as a Sydneysider. I was a teenager back then but oh how much fun it was. Sydney is the prettiest city in Australia.
5:18 – Reason 2, Reasonably Price – Australia isn’t too expensive. But, housing… just kidding.
18:10 – Reason 3, Botanical Gardens! – The botanical gardens in Australia are beautiful. They’re close to the city and made for people to enjoy and walk around in it to get out of the city rush. It’s great to get out into nature.
25:33 – Reason 4, Great Barrier Reef – One of the seven natural wonders of the world,
30:30 – Reason 5, Australian Food – We have diverse food in Australia, but what’s really Australian food, meat pies? Shrimp on the Barbi? Nope, probably not.
37:22 – Reason 6, Beer – We have all types of beers brewed here in the land of Oz. From commercially brewed beers brewed for the masses or the best craft beer in the world. You need great water for that and Australia has great water!
41:04: – Reason 7, Wineries – Australia has some of the best wineries in the world, from the Yarra Valley to the Clare Valley to Margaret River. Australia produces wine in every state and territory bar the Northern Territory.
47:36 – Reason 8, Coffee – I enjoy coffee so much. Melbourne is well known for its coffee. You’ll find it very hard to find a bad coffee here. You can get good coffee in most of Australia, but the best is in Melbourne and maybe Sydney.
48:36 – Reason 9, Great Zoos – Australia has some super Zoos to enjoy, we have a range of open range Zoos, Suburban Zoos and Zoos where crocodiles reign supreme!
55:40 – Reason 10, Tropical Forests, and even skiing! – From the far northern reaches of Australia there is tropical forests that adorn the land, far south you’ll find bushland that is covered in snow in the winter. In the middle, there is sand. Australia is fascinating.
57:28 – Reason 11, Close to New Zealand – Our proximity to New Zealand makes New Zealand and Australia the best of buddies. New Zealand is a great place to travel to. If you’re in Australia and you didn’t even realise that New Zealand was on our door step then book yourself a ticket and get to this wonderful place.
58:48 – Reason 12, For the Australians! – Yes, we’re a jolly bunch of blokes and Sheila’s, we’re a hospitable bunch with wide open and welcoming arms. Visit Australia. It’s waiting for you.

Welcome to the Travelman Podcast, today, I thought because I’ve just recently booked eight nights at Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort, for an upcoming family holiday in May, I thought what a great idea to do a podcast episode on the eight best resort and hotel pools that I’ve ever swum at. I reckon that Courtyard by Marriott will sneak in to my top eight one day.
I’ve broken these pools into three categories:
1st category: Pool Characteristics, how large or small the pool is, what’s the shape, how it does it look?
2nd category: Best Assets, meaning what’s the best thing about the pool. What makes it unique and so forth.
3rd category: Downfall, either the pool is perfect or it can work on a few things that may have made it a better experience for me.
So, beginning with number eight and making our way to number one. This is the eighth best resort/hotel pool that I’ve ever swum at.

45:14 – Reason 6, Asian Food – Australia doesn’t really have food that represents us. I’d say we have such multicultural backgrounds that we can’t pigeon hole Australian food. Asian food is the best in Melbourne!
49:56 – Reason 7, Desert – I must admit, I’ve never ventured into the desert, although when I think of the desert I think of a barren land. The outback is cool and apparently, herds of 4x4 drivers will go into the desert to watch the stars.

Welcome to my American adventure series – Los Angeles, this is the Travelman Podcast! If you’re joining me for the first time my name is Ben and I’m an experienced traveler who’s been travelling the world since he was a kid! I’ve just come back from the states, actually just on Sunday, when I was supposed to release an episode. I thought I’d release this little episode just to give you a taste of what I ate in the US and what I am going to do in Bali. The US was great and always feel a bit sad leaving a place that I like so much. It was my first time to Miami and I didn’t really like it too much, South Beach is where I stayed and it was a bad move on my part as it’s full of posers and the type of people that I’d never be seen dead with. New York was very cool, I ate some great food there and enjoyed Brooklyn for the first time. Los Angeles is my favourite city in the US for many reasons and reasons I’m not gonna list it now. Also, went to San Diego, which was great as Chris from Yellow Productions drove us around, one day around Orange County and the other day around San Diego. My wife and I also drove all the way down to Key West from South Beach. Key West is awesome. I love it. The drive was very nice also. And now I have my Bali trip coming up and I’m doing this holiday to test the theory that; Is having a holiday after a holiday a good thing or not needed, because you always hear of people that have had busy holiday’s like I have, sightseeing and walking many many kilometres/miles each day. My America trip was full on and we did 14 to 15kms per day of walking, so about 15,000 steps on average. All that fatty food I ate and I didn’t put on a kilogram. In Bali, I’ll be relaxing by a pool with my brothers and my sister-in-law and my wife Mandy, and just drinking a lot so I think in the 10 days that I’ll be in Indonesia I may put on more weight than what I did in the US. In America I really enjoyed a host of great food. I went to some pretty well known food establishments. I’m listing the places that made an impact on me, positive or negative. Hi all, this is just a little podcast to fill you in what's going on with me. I'm editing the second episode with my dad, that's titled Death Cruise. It'll be a little beauty, can't wait for it. It'll be out Sunday week whilst I'm in San Diego. Hopefully I have a decent internet connection, otherwise I'm stuffed! As well as San Diego, I am visiting LA and also New York and Miami, then I'm returning back to LA and then I'm going home to Melbourne to do some washing as I have another holiday planned. We went to Koh Samui, which is an island off the south eastern part of Thailand. We took a very crowded ferry from Koh Samui to the mainland and then had a three hour bus ride that took us through the guts of Thailand to our second destination Ao Nang on the western part of Thailand.
