Then getting bumped for a train ticket.
The weather was glorious and kind.

Dr Syntaxes head as I have discovered in recent years, is the furthest west you can stand in England. So for the third time this year, I headed west to walk to it. It was a last minute trip and I am grateful for the opportunity to spend so much time visiting my favourite place on Earth.
It won't be the last for this year.

The final part of this summer's adventure, we cut it short due to the abnormal weather and I didn't fancy packing up in a storm.
This episode won't be to everyone's taste, it has a lot of history and me reading things. I have attempted a Radio 4 style podcast and I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for listening in.
After a long and exhausting day on the 1st August 2023, we sat in our tent at 11pm and I recorded episode 5. I was too tired to publish that night, so I went to bed and woke up early to edit and publish, only to find my recorder settings had changed and I recorded 10 mins of silence.
This is not the podcast I recorded, this is the one I am replacing the lost one with.
In the middle of a rain storm with a heavy wind and hoping tent doesn't collapse on us, here is the latest update.
I was asked to drive a group of people to Southend on sea for a day trip to the seaside, so I took advantage recorded a couple of podcasts. Here is HikenPod episode 12 https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/8uqMrjjteBb but below you will find HnP supplemental episode 3, I recorded the Hnp3 first by mistake and then recorded E12 […]
The photo in the header is a pic of St Ives bay during a beautiful sunset, I din’t manage to capture it’s essence with my phone or the atmosphere. Molly and I were walking on the beach, a route that Jo and Molly found earlier in the day and it is a more of a […]
Sitting in a tea shop on Market Jew street in the centre of town and I finally saw in Penzance what every one else was seeing and I mean Lucas and Jo. Penzance is quite the lovely town, of course there are parts of it that are a little run down but my snobbery and […]
I am extremely proud of Molly, she walked 2 and a half miles across some rocky terrain and got a pup cup ice cream for her effort. She didn’t complain or even slow down. She took the whole thing in her stride. The Land’s end to Sennen Cove pilgrimage is a walk I have been […]
Finally after what feels like eternity, I have made it back to Land’s end. I was hoping that this trip would have been my second at this point this year, but funds and time, well funds, didn’t allow it. I am here how and that’s all that matters. Also I will be back in a […]
Inside Trent park on this ancient settlement, alleged to be haunted and rife with devil worship.
Back again after an absence with this older concept. I visited two islands in Essex, Wallasea and Two Tree island. Here is a brief encounter. The weather was overcast to start off with then brightened up in the afternoon, once I reached Leigh on Sea. Audio recorded on Tascam DR-40x Video Filmed on a Motorola […]
This is a latest podcast of the shorter walk to Hertford, taking me up through Cuffley, Wormley, Goff’s Oak and into Hertford. It took approx 3 and half hours to complete. Then I had to wait 3 quarters of an hour for a train. Got home and ate an amazing curry.
Yesterday,I went on a short 6 mile hike by myself, I spent a lovely morning with Jo in Hertford and we went for a nice bike ride to Ware and had lunch before coming back. We chatted about some business ideas. Lucas and Molly were at Nicole’s and weren’t coming back until just before 7pm. […]
I recorded the first section of the podcast on my cassette deck very much like I used to as a child. The second section was recorded using my Fostex FD-4 four track. The background music was also recorded on the FD-4. All mixed files were uploaded to Reaper on a POP OS linux machine and rendered to MP3.
I had an interesting Mayday, Lucas decided he wanted to make a song and then proved he could do it, he recorded a track accapella, totally surpised me and he enjoyed it. He gave a Jo a hug, that means a massive step forward in our blended family development. The 3 of us went on […]
The front photo is a picture of Rufus stone, Son of William the conqueror and where he died. Not that I am trying to be morbid, I’m not. I drive past that every time I visit my Parents and have only stopped once before and I can’t find the photo I took, so I stopped […]
The first weekend of spring and I am clearing out the dust of the remnants of the seasons change. There are still a few particles of excretion floating around, a bit of intelligence bleach will sort that out. The projects are in their infancy and growing, expanding and developing. Work is rubbish, dealing with people […]
After what has been an exhasting and humiliating 6 weeks, I now have my project back, in a new form, without the noise and the people who have ruined it and stopped it’s growth over the past 6 years. I have had a series of complaints raised against me, to a few serious, career ending […]
After completing 190,000 steps week, I am asking you join me on the last 5 miles of the nano adventure in the 11th hour. It’s dark, cloudy but mild, slightly scary but fun none the less.
I am giving this Vlogcast another try, the cable I used failed between the Pi400 and the monitor. I only found this out yesterday. With a fresh OS 64bit, I thought I would see how much power is needed to use this as an everyday computer, for blogging, vlogging, audio recording, picture editing, video editing […]
Recorded on the 24th January 2023 at home with my pi’s. Edited on Filmora 12, windows debloated and formatted on Kubuntu OS.
My favourite hike from Enfield to Hertford, this time it is more of a special walk. This is a good way to return to the series and share with you my thoughts and ideas. Recorded on my Motorola G31 with the WAV editor app. Uploaded to my server via my Lenovo tablet. First uploaded to […]
Like most people in the UK, I am subject to the fuel crisis. I haven’t taken any notice of this nor considered the impact until I realised that the government support runs out at the end of March 23. Once I came to terms with this notion, I understood that I would left with a […]
I have deliberately not celebrated the new year in the traditional way, watching fireworks, the countdown, resolutions, unattainable hope and plans I won’t complete. I have decided to be realistic in my approach. Yesterday, I had fun with Lucas and spent the evening with Jo and her Friends Adrian and Andy. Jo made us a […]
I have a list of chores that I need to do before the year is out. Also the Beautiful Woman on the feature page is my Girlfriend, not some random Woman I stalked and stood next to. That is all and that is enough for one day.
2nd October 2022 What does it look like when you’re older or mature? Not sure, but I can tell you what it feels like. My stomach is in knots and I am having a new thought every 10 milliseconds. This is funny as I mentor a number of young people with high anxiety and I […]
Long time no write, I know. A lot has happened and changed for the better, I am a new Man. I have been busy with putting together Halloween at Capel Manor 2022, not the experience I wanted to do but, it is an experience. I am not keen to do outdoor activities because they are […]
I have put together my wild camp kit, I don’t think I will get to use it the way my life is set up now. Plus I am apprehensive about going wild camping especially with a tarp. OMX Tarp Vango latitude Sleeping bag Alpkit mat Eurohike towel Quechua hiking poles Quechua pillow & neck pillow […]
I am attempting to rebuild my studio into something usable. My current set up meant having a ridiculous amount of equipment set up and NEVER used. I want to stop that. I do enjoy having my computer in the living room but it makes more sense to have it next to my blog and podcasting […]
I find myself complaining, every now and then I have to and feel justified doing so. I wonder if I stuck to my JD, what would happen? I wonder if I stopped allowing my equipment to be used for things, what would happen? Have I made myself too available and should I step back and […]
The final part of series 3, the rest is available if you follow the menu bar to my anchor.fm page.
Finally made it to Land’s end and the 2022 adventure has begun. Listen to the podcast for the daily diary.
Remember, every time you read a passage written by Paul in the bible, you are reading a complaint letter from the original Karen.
The photos were taken with the Samsung A6 on the 12th July 2022. I honestly thought they would be better quality, I might have to resort to the DSLR but it is bulky and cumber sum. The audio was recorded on my Pi-3b+ without the current ability to remove files easily, still working on that. […]
I created a talking head using the camera on my new G31 with my Rode NTUSB connected directly. Then I edited it on the free version of FilmoraGo. The render is 720p although the video was recorded using the OpenCamera app.
Today is a special day, it means a lot to me. I spent all of my childhood and most of my adulthood on the outside looking in when it came to Father’s day. I have the most amazing Son, who for the past ten years, made up for anything I may have missed out on.
Here is a popular theme running through this website ‘wait for it’… “I haven’t posted in a while”, the last time posted was the May bank holiday weekend, the first one. Now it’s June and I am almost on the brink/ eve of a new decade. I had a conversation with a group of young […]
My local authority have revamped and upgraded our local woodland walk. Molly and I have been using it and made it our regular adventure. It’s quite nice and will look amazing in ten years with all the new planted trees. It takes us around two hours door to door and we walk the last section […]
Yesterday, I travelled on the Emirates air line for the first time, here is how it went.

Just arrived down south (England) and my Mum has a country life show on the TV. It details people’s exploits in the countryside at fates etc. It sells a promising view of life with a scenic view. I wish I had more to look at from my home apart from London, which is a great […]
The savage wind made running extremely difficult, getting to Shoeburyness was easy, coming back was almost impossible. I tried to create a timelapse video but the wind would have blown over my camera. I was there and it was a nice day.
Just about to start the first of 4 longish drives around the south coast. Day 1 – Southend-on-sea.

First episode of 2022, where I walk and ramble on about the other podcast and my Raspberry Pi 400.

This is Camlet moat in the winter, it dates back to the early 1100s. Also there is a claim that is haunted by a red knight as written in Jay Hollis’ book ‘Haunted Enfield’. An oak draw bridge was discovered in 1923 and many of the artefacts from this excavation have lost. The moat is […]
Currently I am behind with training this year and I needed a lift. A 10k is actually an easy race for me and I had no doubts about completing it. The Olympic park holds a special place in my heart for a number of reasons I won’t go into here. In short I was looking […]
I eventually made it out and headed north, I went through Broxboure woods and the mud was horrendous. I had to make a detour through the eastern section of the woods, an area I had never been through before. It added an extra 20 minutes to my journey.
I had a go at recording my desktop and making video on my new OS, the video itself is quite boring to start off with because I forgot I was making a visual and carried on talking.
Yesterday, we went for a long walk south to visit Winchmore hill. The area I grew up in and spent my childhood. I always believed it was special place mainly through arrogance and snobbery. It is that kind of place. When I was a child and I visited or hung out with my Friends from […]
I have managed to build a crude GPS device with my developer pi. It is a bit hit and miss, sometimes it loads and sometimes it doesn’t. So that tells me I have done something wrong. I was hoping to try it out today at Brighton and then Southend but due to a yellow and […]
3 x pi 3b 2 x zeros 1 x 4b 1 x 400 Right now at last count that is my stash. 1 3b is an audio recorder using the arecord shell, 1 3b is a samba server, supporting all of computers and the last 3b is my developer Pi. I practice everything on that […]
New Job More horror shows and less unrelated events Finally finish that album that I started 11 years ago Finish my home I started last month Get a van Run another marathon and complete my first ultra That’ll do for the first half of the year
I am spending December 2021 growing a Santa Claus Beard for a couple of occasions where I am going to be the big Elf. I quite like but also can’t wait to look my age again. Also I will dye the my hair and beard white.
I am extremely excited, today is the dress rehearsal for the haunting of Forty hall. I am beside myself.
I woke up Saturday morning with butterflies in my stomach. I then explored the anxiety and the feeling came from not running the marathon but the travelling to Manchester, the potential lack of sleep and bad nutrition. I got 26 kisses from Lucas and nearly the same from Molly and I left for Victoria coach […]
It is that time of the year, when the horror returns. I am looking forward to recording the new series of ‘Destination Midnight’. I am hoping to have some guest presenters and voice overs from some extremely cool people. For now, I will bring the ‘Edge’ Series to a close for 2021.
A podcast from home and testing out my set up and the new intro for the Hike 'n' Podcast.
Woolwich Ferry
I know this was long time ago but I have just found it. This episode is aside from the hike pod series.
Now we are in tier 4 and I am not able to go out and about, I have recorded a new show with my Son about his thoughts.
The series finale and the most enjoyable to make. Well the second half of the hike was anyway.
