The Global Anaesthesia, Surgery and Obstetric Collaborative (GASOC) ia a trainee-led organisation in the UK, with a passion for global surgery.

We created GASOC #COVIDPod to amplify the experiences of frontline clinicians battling COVID across the world. In each episode, we interview a different healthcare worker and share their story of their fight against COVID19.

In this episode we discuss with Dr. Raymond Ndikontar, an intensivist based in Cameroon. We learn about the difficulties in managing acutely unwell COVID patients in Cameroon and the use of frugal technology to counteract this.

In this GASOC #COVIDPod episdoe, we will be hearing from Dr Niveshni Maistry and Dr Linda Pohl who are surgical doctors within South Africa. Niveshni works in Paediatric Surgery in Johannesburg and Linda in General Surgery in Cape Town.

They are also leaders within the South Africa Global Surgery Society, which aims to aim to improve access to safe surgical care within SA through research, education, local & international collaboration.

We will discuss the impact of COVID on training, clinical practice and how things have progressed since its onset in South Africa.

In our third GASOC #COVIDPod episdoe, we will be hearing from Dr Daniel Schubert, an A&E Registrar based in Rio De Janeiro.

He shares his experience of the lead up to the pandemic and the current state of healthcare in Brazil. Daniel also gives advise on important lessons learnt during the outbreak.
