Desmond Dekker was one of the 1st truly international Jamaican stars. His falsetto voice and singing in patois were thought to be a commercial risk by his record company, yet Israelites reached no1 in the UK and no9 in the USA. He passed away in 2006 but his recordings are more loved now, than they have ever been

The original identity of the group was "Mrs. Williams Grandchildren", though it was later changed to the current name. They were especially popular in late 1970s and early 1980s with their hits: We are Family, Frankie, He's the Greatest Dancer and many other.

In fact her earliest childhood memory was sitting as a young girl with Miles Davis at a gig in Paris; and she lived in Long Island City in a block full of artists including members of Talking Heads; and she appeared on “Top of the Pops” in 1988 — with her very pregnant belly sheathed in a skin-tight Lycra skirt.
