A podcast about straight to video Disney sequels. Join hosts Audrey, Dan and Jimmy for this fun review and commentary on those less than beloved sequels to major theatrical releases. We explore the “films” and the years in which they were released. If you have a chance to watch the movie prior to listening, all the better. If you are unable, or unwilling to watch these movies, you will still enjoy the commentary, the improv and banter around these less than classic films!
Welcome Foolish Mortals, to "The Haunted Mansion" movie from 2023. We discuss the plot details and most importantly the references from the rides at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. If you are interested in being really frustrated about which Haunted Mansion ride is better between Disneyland and Walt Disney World, you can listen to "The Supreme Resort" episode on that very topic here https://earzup-podcast.com/podcast/the-supreme-resort/episode/the-case-of-the-haunted-mansions-disneyland-v-magic-kingdom Erik, from the supreme resort joins Audrey, Dan and Jimmy to break it all down. There are spoilers about the new movie, so listen at your own peril.
also, see Barbie. It's really good. It's a perfect combination of satire, farce, musical and poignant commentary on the patriarchy and a glimpse what it is really like to be a woman.

Lilo and Stitch was a charming movie about a girl and her sister experiencing and helping each other through the trauma of losing their parents and learning to be an ohana. Then Disney made 3 more movies based mainly of the wacky, farting alien who appeared in their lives to help them do this and grow as people. Then they made a TV series based on that farting alien and all of the other farting aliens. This is movie is the culmination of…all of that. And we can only pray it will remain so. Join Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan as they talk about this assault on the senses while discovering the power of aloha and a dubious legal situation involving a lawyer who is both cool and real which, let’s face it, they might deserve this time. Take a listen, cousins! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Well, it’s that time of year again as we do our annual round of “dealer’s choice” films so that Jimmy can watch a Christmas movie, Dan can be a secular contrarian, and Audrey doesn’t have to get drawn into that mess. This year our Christmas movie is the Rankin Bass The Year Without A Santa Claus and we finally realized that doing this episode before the actual holiday probably made more sense. Join us as we explore the true meaning of Christmas: stop-motion films. Fans of our technical difficulties might want to know that we had some audio problems with Audrey’s feed around the middle but we’ve made great efforts to make it feel completely seamless. Pooh’s Heffalump Movie is a film so utterly terrifying that many won’t even mention it by name. In our special Halloween episode, we return to the STV studios to recount the utter horror visited upon us by this very frightening Halloween movie. Will this movie be a treat? Or will it trick us…into having scary nightmares?! Listen to this episode with the lights on. Or, more likely, while you drive somewhere, clean the house, walk the dog…you know, usual podcast stuff. Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch is a true sequel to the original Theatrical release Lilo and Stitch. Stitch!: the Movie (recently reviewed on Scraping the vault) was a spin off and extended pilot episode of the lilo and stitch TV show. Much like many of these Disney toon studios films which were the most realized episodes of short lived animated series see: Tarzan and Jane, Belle's Magical world etc. Lilo and Stitch 2 is a great sequel. Period. Well produced, great acting performances great animation etc. As Bob Iger takes over the Walt Disney Company, the acquisition of Pixar and John Lasseter now creative head of all Disney Animation, we are nearing the beginning of the end of these straight to video sequels befor we enter the tinkerverse.
"It was a good Movie. I enjoyed every minute of it" Dan

In 1996 The Walt Disney Company gathered several of Hollywood’s most talented filmmakers to create their first live action remake of a classic animated film: One Hundred & One Dalmatians. Did you get tired reading all those words? That’s ok, because the movie they made was 101 Dalmatians. We watched this movie. You know those episodes where one of us has a strong feeling about the movie and the other two don’t agree? This is one of those…and it’s not the usual dynamic. Join your podcast besties as we break the seal on Disney’s greatest contribution to civilization - the live action remakes - before we carry on watching their second greatest contribution: a bajillion Tinkerbelle movies. Audrey is back from her trip to Australia doing good deeds for the improv community and she’s just in time to watch Tarzan 2 with Jimmy and Dan so that you don’t have to. Tarzan 2 is, of course, a movie about Tarzan as a young child who, of course, meets up with a grizzled old man gorilla (proper pronunciation revealed in the episode) who asks Tarzan to keep a secret between the two of them. And, like all situations where an old man asks a young boy to keep a secret from the community at large, nothing bad happens! Except for Phil Collins songs but we live in a world of lowered expectations at this point so why not have all of those things happen!
It’s another episode where Audrey and Jimmy seem to like the movie and Dan tries to tell them they are wrong with just about the usual outcome. But he has the last laugh because he’s writing the description for the episode this time. Take that! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We are thrilled to welcome Cheryl and Sheila (which is slang for girl in Austrailia) from improv group Hacky Sacks in Khaki Slacks to discuss the details of 2005's Mulan 2. This is a funny one guys. These 2 Australian improvisers watched Mulan 2 and came on to our show to discuss the details. We are sorry Audrey missed this one, but Cheryl and Sheila did a great job filling in for her.
Mulan 2 or what Jimmy thought would be Mulan Too is a fun continuation of the story of Mulan, The Chinese hero who helped defeat the huns.
Will there be unnecessary romance and plenty of Three's company moments? Yes. Will there be plenty of background noise from drinking glasses by Cheryl? Absolutely. Will this be a great film? You decide.
Have fun! We sure did. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We're back to the craptactualr straight to video Disney sequels. We're giving Lion King 1.5 a pass. Springtime with Roo was a straight to video "sequel" to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Spoilers, this is an Easter movie. Well it's "A Christmas Carol" dressed up as an Easter movie, so perfect timing? Hear Chapek and his dream of all of these "films" not so subtly break Dan and hear Jimmy lean in on his blind positivity and hear Audrey be Awesome as always. Also, what happened to Asher? This generations "Who shot J.R." Speaking of J.R. Thank you to JR Trempe for making all of our great theme songs

Lion King 1 ½
Aaaand we’re back. It was nice taking some time away from Papa Chapek’s various crimes against animation but these movies aren’t going to watch themselves. Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan watched Lion King 1 ½ and boy, was it a gas. You’ll have a blast as they break into the winding story line of this rootin’ tootin’ movie which is kind of a sequel but also not a sequel at all. It’s bean a long time since we pulled (our fingers) off an episode like this one. Actually, it’s just our normal show but there are a lot of fart jokes. So…butts! Learn more about your ad choices. It’s the last round of our annual Dealer’s Choice picks where we take a (much needed?) break from straight to video Disney sequels to watch real movies. This time around we watched the very popular, very earwormy, and very copyrighted movie, Encanto. Listen as an audibly frustrated Jimmy stans for Lin Manuel Miranda and musicals in general while Audrey and Dan remain fairly unimpressed for an amount of time that will not be disclosed here so as to build suspense. Cliffhanger! Speaking of cliffhangers, we also get to find out this show’s unexpected connection to the Dark Lord himself: the very thumblike Bob Chapek.
Will Jimmy’s love of the musical genre break through the icy coldness of the hearts of his cohosts? Can we create a rivalry with a content creator with more clout than us? Will Disney sue us for this episode even though we tried very hard to not include any of the music or other content from this movie?
This episode features music from Columbian artists to illustrate some of the different musical styles which inspired the songs of Encanto. La Combinación Vallenata, Manigua Rock Mestizo, Rakim & Ken-y, Afro Cuban All Stars, and the mayor of Barranquilla’s YouTube channel, please don’t sue us either. Learn more about your ad choices. Continuing our annual tradition of taking a break from Disney sequels, we finally tackle the film you’ve all been expecting us to cover: David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. Though it isn’t the inspiration for the early California Adventure ride, Mulholland Madness, directly…it might have some similarities.
If you have never seen the 2001 film, Mulholland Drive, and would like to avoid spoilers for a movie that was released over two decades ago you should probably be warned that this episode contains major spoilers as we go through the film more or less beat by beat in great detail. We do our best to make sense of this film while pondering essential questions such as: who is the King of Hollywood and is he in charge of The Casting Couch? Why are David Lynch’s movies like that? Will Jimmy forgive Dan for making this choice? We cover all of this and more while a creepy, nightmarish soundscape by Third Uncle Violet plays in the background.
Seriously, this whole episode is a spoiler. If you have any interest in seeing this movie without spoilers, do that and come back to hear us say things about it to you. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In 1964 Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment produced a classic Christmas movie on television which, whether timeless or timely - or both, has probably had some amount of influence on every human being on this planet. Or, at the very least, on Tim Burton. Oh, you want to know the movie? Ok, it’s Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. There. Happy now? Anyways, that’s the movie Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan watched for this episode filled with all sorts of holiday cheer, product placement, and moments where they come dangerously close to canceling themselves.
Will Jimmy cry as he teased in the last episode? Will Audrey and Dan let him get through his notes? You’ll find the answer to these as well as every other possible question you may have ever had on what is possibly the dirtiest episode of Scraping The Vault we’ve recorded in a very long time. Happy Holidays and, since this episode is released on Christmas we can also say merry Christmas. But only if you’re reading this on that day. Can you guess which one of us wrote this? Audrey went to Disneyland for the first time! I mean she went when she was like 5, but that doesn't count. Audrey, Dan and Jimmy recount their weekend at Disneyland. As AFOD's (Adult Fans of Disneyland) it is often difficult to recall the feeling you get when you really experience these parks for the first time. If you listen to our shows, odds are, you are Disney Parks fans. Listen to the gang offer a reasonable play by play of their weekend with Erik, friends of the show and a few fans. A large majority of the people we traveled with upgraded to a Magic Key! Was Audrey one of them? Listen to find out. This is a really fun one! Enjoy Learn more about your ad choices. Dan is officially broken! Have you ever seen Monty Python? Well, so have the writers of this movie. they ride pretty hard on a few famous bits from the Monty Python crew. Jimmy liked it, Audrey was slightly swayed by Jimmy's joy and passion for the film. I mean, when I say Jimmy loved it, you gotta consider the context. Anyway, if you listen to our shows, you pretty much are disney parks nerds. Audrey is not. Ever wonder what a lay person would think of the new Magic Keys (annual passes) and the arbitrary words that make each key? Well, stay to the very end to find out.
Listen, it's a fun movie with a lot of gags and puns. Listen to the episode to see if you agree Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Atlantis 2:
Hey! Remember that movie, Atlantis? Wait...keep reading. So there was a movie called Atlantis and like 5 people watched it. And now you have a chance to listen to the three people who watched its sequel talk about it in great detail. Will this movie be one of our favorites? Will it be a nightmare? All I’ll say here is that it was so...however it was...that this time Jimmy clocks in with the most swears! (edited, as always). Buckle on them diving bells because gurgle gurgle whale sounds! Ahoy! 101 Dalmatians: Patch’s London Adventure was released in 2003 to rave reviews. Not really. But it was released. Few people noticed. But we did in early July of 2021 when your podcasts besties Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan had a chance to record in person together for realsies to talk about it. Did they manage to make the audio sound ok? Tarzan and Jane is a 2002 sequel to the 1999 animated feature, Tarzan. You podcast friends, Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan watched it with results that might surprise you but also might make sense based on our “characters” and how each of us have been responding to this odd experiment we have decided to perform on ourselves. Disney Animation Studios The Hunchback of Notre Dame is arguable the best "Musical" of the 1990's Disney Renaissance. Hunchback 2 also exists. Listen to Dan, Audrey and Jimmy detail why this movie is either the best of the straight to video sequels, or the worst. You decide. Listen to Jimmy explain why The original release was so formative to his life and how he influenced Dan to watch it and also love it. Audrey was likely still in the womb at that time.
Will Jason's Nephew Asher make an appearance, or is this show absurd enough without him?
Enjoy
Also, we talk a lot about Lindsay Ellis' YouTube breakdown of the original film and we highly recommend you give it a watch and all the rest of her content is also amazing. If you decide to watch, tell her in the comments where you hear about her and tell her to come on our show. Here's the link

Cats is a movie that actually was released in theatres back in the before times when that happened back in 2019. It is based on the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical of the same name...kind of. Enjoy our third and final installment of our format-breaking saga that started with Jimmy wanting to watch A Very Brady Christmas, Dan wanting to watch Perri for Valentine’s Day, and now Audrey unintentionally opening up a series of rabbit holes involving the existential dread that is Cats in all of its forms. Enjoy as we explore the important questions: is Jimmy a furry? Are cats dogs? Does Dan have a soul? Is Justice League accidentally a comedy? Is this movie accidentally porn? To celebrate Valentine’s Day a bit early we’ve decided to cover a film that is a love story for the ages - and for all species: Perri. Released in 1957, the film follows the very real, very accurate, and not at all edited TRUE STORY of Perri. She is a Disney Princess who just happens to be a squirrel and any of you who feel otherwise can kindly take your negativity elsewhere. Cuddle up with a loved one before, after, or during Together Time and listen as Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan delight in all of the wonders that nature alone filmed without any intervention by any men in short sleeved dress shirts. At all.

The Tower of Terror made for TV movie was an instant "classic"? This unique filmed adaptation based on the ride of the same name was slightly less successful than others. Less successful than the multi billion$ Pirates franchise, but perhaps slight more successful than Eddie Murphy's Haunted Mansion film? The tower of Terror movie was one of Steve Gutenberg's last and one of Kerstin Dunst's first. Circle of life..
