I spoke with Shanti, a 15-year-old freshman who was just getting ready to publish her 13th book. We talked about how she did it, how she makes time because it is important to her, we talked about setting time to write and how she fits it around her busy schedule.

Shanti Hershenson's first two novellas were published when she was in the sixth grade, although her writing journey started long before then. Ever since she could hold a pencil, marker, or crayon, she was creating stories. They started from pictures, mere scribbles, and eventually, turned into captivating tales.

September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day

An estimated 800 000 people die by suicide worldwide each year. It can affect every one of us. Each and every suicide is devastating and has a profound impact on those around them. However, by raising awareness, reducing the stigma around suicide, and encouraging well-informed action, we can reduce instances of suicide around the world.

This year’s World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) theme is ‘Creating Hope Through Action’. It is a reminder that there is an alternative to suicide and aims to inspire confidence and light in all of us; that our actions, no matter how big or small, may provide hope to those who are struggling. Preventing suicide is often possible. Through action, we can all play a role in supporting those experiencing a suicidal crisis or those bereaved by suicide.

How to participate in WSPD?

World Health Suicide Prevention Day will take place on 10 September 2021.

Go to the WSPD website to explore resources, education and gain a better understanding of WSPD - https://www.iasp.info/wspd2021/

Robert and I spoke of peace and equality for all, and the change you can choose. Robert shared about his journey and how he stepped into his passion and why that is important.

As a dedicated yoga practitioner, photographer Robert Sturman has increasingly focused on capturing the timeless grace and embodied mindfulness of asana in his work.

His portraits, whether set in the lively streets of Manhattan, the expansive beaches and canyons of Malibu, the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the timeless elegance of Walden's New England, or the bleakness of San Quentin Prison, remind us that there is beauty everywhere.

His stunning repertoire runs the gamut from yogis perched on rocks surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, to African orphans practicing yoga in Kenya, to breast cancer survivors, bare-chested and scarred. In addition, Sturman has worked extensively photographing war veterans who have embraced the practice of yoga to heal PTSD, in an effort to help change the heartbreaking statistics of veteran suicides each day.

In Sturman's own words, "I often think of Rumi's words 'I can't stop pointing to the beauty.' That feels right to me." Sturman's honors include Official Artist of the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, 2010 FIFA World Cup Artist Representing America, and Official Artist 2008 United States Olympics. Sturman has been the subject of two separate New York Times articles celebrating his photographs of yoga from around the world.

Nikol and I talked about when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. As well as, the great debate of ‘is a Cricut a want or a need’?

Nikol Wikman lives in Victoria, BC Canada with her husband and two children. She has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She loved art class in school and spent hours upon hours sketching. As Nikol grew up she experimented with different creative avenues, sewing, sculpting, stained glass, beading, making jewelry. Anything to feed the creative yearning in her soul.

In her 20's Nikol decided to try painting again (which she hadn't done since high school). She painted simple pieces for her apartment and loved it! It was so fun to grab a canvas, throw some paint on it and have her own unique piece of art! For a few years she painted here and there but nothing too serious.

After her son was born she was struggling a little bit, lonely as a new mom. Nikol decided to make a point of painting (almost) daily. It was one of the best decisions she ever made! In the studio(aka her dining room) she felt she had found herself again!

Nikol loved it so much she couldn't stop. The process of playing with pure liquid colour does something to her heart that nothing else does. She never gets bored of it. When she paints she feels joyful and free!

12 years later she has painted hundreds(maybe even thousands!) of paintings. Nikol has been able to connect and share her love of art with like-minded souls from around the world. She has sent paintings to far-off places she'll maybe never get to visit herself! Nikol feels so lucky and grateful every day for what art has brought into her life.

Jessica and I had a great conversation about the process of art healing. She has worked to know and trust her path and follow her passion. Jessica was a presenter at our Loving-Healing-Creating Summit in February.

Jessica Malli Mercier is a long-time creative soul, a mixed media artist, as well as a graphic designer. Her goal is to inspire others to be free in their creative process. When creating an art journal, the end result isn't the most important part, it is the time that we take to make art, and the telling of our stories that should take precedent. It is a special place to express emotions, fears, joys, and things that we love. It is an opportunity to document your life, a safe haven for your inner thoughts and feelings, and the time that we take to free ourselves in the creation process can be very powerful. This form of art is open to so much experimentation and passion. It is a brilliant exercise for people and artists trying to find their style, and are just beginning or are unsure of their level of talent. Art journaling has been such an important part of her life as a woman and as an artist simultaneously and she loves to share things that she has learned in her own journey through this medium.

Amanda and I had a great conversation about the healing aspects of art, and how she used her art to find her way through depression. Amanda and her partner were both part of our summit in February.

Over the last four years, Amanda Anderson has worked hard at perfecting and improving her art techniques, her self-care routine, and how to use art to improve her mental health. In 2016 she was admitted on a suicide watch because she was in the depths of a nasty postpartum depression. While admitted, she found a natural love and talent for art. That was the first time she realized she could use art to help her heal.

Since then, she’s never stopped painting and drawing. In August 2020, she became a Therapeutic Art Life Coach and is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Education, with the plan to get her master’s in Art Therapy to become a licensed art therapist.

Amanda has been fortunate to build a mini business out of her home office, currently just outside of Boise, Idaho. Not only does she get to take her art, her four small kids, and her business all around the world (her husband is in the military), She gets to inspire and teach thousands of budding artists how to use art to navigate overwhelming emotions and hard times. AND she hosts her very own podcast, ‘The Safely Spoken Podcast’ (it's a safe space to talk about real life and real emotions).

Carol and I spoke about her passion for things that keep her sane, such as music and movement. For her they start out as hobbies but then become money makers such as her private music lessons, play-shops, and fitness. Her days are NEVER dull!

When people used to ask Carol what she does for a living for the past 14 years or so, she would simplify by saying, “I teach people stuff.” Teaching is her passion! She currently teaches economics and workplace writing at Southern Methodist University and her teaching doesn’t stop on campus—nor do the subjects! She has a passion for things that keep her sane, such as music and movement. They started out as hobbies but became moneymakers in private music lessons, play-shops, and fitness (Pilates and Dance). Her days are NEVER dull!

Angela and I spoke of the healing light of creation and our love of sharing what we know and love.

A twenty-five year love affair with watercolor has taught Angela Fehr that it is the heart that gives life to our art.

“There is something about the fluidity of pairing paint and water and allowing them to collaborate on a page that is so captivating. It’s never boring, and always unexpected. I want something more for my paintings than simply to copy what I could see with my eyes. I want to show my heart in my paintings.”

Since 2013, Angela has empowered watercolor lovers all over the world with her gentle, open and authentic approach to teaching loose watercolor; an approach that allows painters to make peace with the learning process, creating paintings that don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Angela’s online courses have inspired thousands of students and can be found at www.learn.angelafehr.com. Her extensive course list includes ‘Learn Watercolor the Heart Led Way’ and ‘Heart-Led Landscapes in Watercolor’ as well as a comprehensive ‘Watercolor Mastery’ course designed to help students focus on principles and quickly level up their skills. Her Fearless Artist Community is full of students exploring heart-led expression, posting their experiments and discussing ways to break out of fear as they become their own favorite artists.

Angela shares her home and five gorgeous acres in northern British Columbia, Canada, with her hot-rod-builder husband and three creative teens.

Maureen mostly works intuitively and is passionate about sharing the process with others so they may know that they have the answers within themselves if they just listen and are willing to go deep. We talked about the healing journey of creativity and how it can help you to open up into your most authentic self.

Maureen is an artist, she has been since a young age when she was growing up in and around alcohol abuse. She turned to coloring, making things out of other things, and being outside as much as possible. It provided her with comfort and a feeling of control where as a child she had very little to none.

Maureen grew up and became an alcoholic herself, drinking at a young age, finding comfort in a bottle and other substances was easy and seemed natural. She gave up art and anything to do with it feeling she had no support or resources. Her journey has come full circle, she got sober at 20 and I began to inch her way back towards a creative way of life.

At first it was too painful for her to show up in that space but she knew it was the way towards healing. Maureen went to school, got a degree in Art Education and began working with children. She got married, started a family and began raising her daughters who are now 20 & 21. Her family kept her busy for a while but she always turned to her art to help nourish her soul and heal her heart. She also found a great deal of inner wisdom she never knew existed by utilizing imagery and symbols in her work. Maureen mostly works intuitively and is passionate about sharing the process with others so they may know that they have the answers within themselves, if they just listen and are willing to go deep.

She started her biz The Soulful Creative and just recently launched her new website! She teaches workshops mostly live, but is moving to online platforms as well.

Maureen loves Art Journaling, SoulCollage, Abstract painting, and Expressive Portraits! She is currently writing a book called Full Circle that she is super excited about and hoping to finish by years end!

Eric and I had an in depth conversation about healing after trauma and his use of film to help people heal, as well as help people understand the healing process.

Eric Christiansen is an acclaimed documentarian who has built his brand around socially responsible filmmaking that educates, inspires and heals. Christiansen, a seven-time Southwestern Region Emmy Award recipient, explores the impact of trauma, the resilience of the human spirit, and how a powerful platform for hope can be built to help trauma survivors begin the vigilant journey of healing. A trauma survivor himself, Christiansen worked through the loss of his home and possessions in the Painted Cave Fire by creating his first film Faces in the Fire 25 years ago. All of his films (Faces in the Fire, Homecoming: A Vietnam Vets Journey, Searching for Home: Coming Back from War) have been transformative in the recovery process for thousands of people whose lives have been compromised mentally, spiritually and physically by trauma. Leveraged as educational tools by top mental health institutions, Christiansen's films migrate from the entertainment arena into environments that help additional audiences navigate the profound collateral damage trauma creates not only on the individual but the family and community as well.

Throughout his career, Christiansen has also created content for major networks including Discovery, TLC, PBS, MTV and an Imax film.

Jordan and I had a great conversation about her journey and her successes and how she still struggled with her self worth. When she stepped into her own authentic self she stepped into her own value.

Jordan helps people connect with themselves in ways they never knew possible, break personal barriers, and live their free-est most bada$$ lives - and she does it all through epic dance parties (=

Jordan Wentz is a professional dancer, movement and fitness coach and founder and hype-woman at MyMovementality. Seeking to lead the best quality of life and continue to evolve into the best version of herself, Jordan became obsessed with figuring out how to merge all things healthy with all things fun. Melissa and I got into a subject that may be heated for some, but I felt I had to speak my truth. It may not be everyone's truth and that is okay, I understand that. We definitely spoke more about health and healing today than about the creative side of healing, However creativity is absolutely in the choices we make for our health. Listen with an open mind to our discussion.

Have feedback, let me know.

Melissa Deally is an Integrative Health Practitioner who is frustrated that our food industry, medical industry and pharmaceutical industry are all for profit industries, and therefore decisions are made based on optimizing shareholder return, not optimizing human health. It's a broken system. Melissa is passionate about getting the word out that there is another way - for all of you who are struggling to get help with your chronic illness. As an integrative health practitioner, Melissa will help you get to the root cause of your illness, remove toxicities, and support deficiencies, identified by functional medicine lab tests, to help guide your body back into balance, at which point it can heal itself, just like it would a broken arm or cut finger.

Note: This interview is not for the faint of heart. There is swearing, we talk Patriarchy, White Supremacy, Black Lives Matter, Feminism, and about LGBT+ youth suicides. Plus we finished up by talking about being on the autism spectrum...We also talk about creativity and healing amongst all that. And, there is also a lot of laughter.

Hi, I'm Anna Bartlett and I am Shiny Happy Art. That's exactly what I do!

I love being an artist and I REALLY LOVE helping others discover that they can be too.

For the past 8 years, I have been welcoming people to my studio to Paint Along with me. I now offer to sketch and painting Art Events to groups and businesses and pop up in beautiful places (like Norfolk Island!) to run Art Holidays and Workshops.

In January 2019 I launched the Paint Along of the Month Club and each month more people from across the world join me and share the joy of drawing and painting.

Other info
My mother has always been an artist, but my father said "I'd never earn a living from art", so I studied Business and Accounting at University.

I was also in the Army Reserve for 8 years and spent a year as the full-time Adjutant of the Queensland University Regiment.

I have four children, two grown boys, and two girls still at home - and art has always been such a big part of their life, they're now keen helpers at my workshops.

My book, "Painting Party", was published by North Light Books in 2016 and is available on Amazon and many other bookselling platforms.

I love to paint murals in hospitals! In recent years I have painted many murals in Children's wards and the local Breastscreen unit, and I often receive 'thank you's' from people who have been in those rooms and have been happily distracted by the images on the walls.

I have been a creative person my whole life, I have tried many creative endeavors, from interior painting specialties back in the 90’s, through to healing through creativity today, and everything in between in my 30+ years of teaching and creating.

I am an artist and my favourite medium is acrylics, and my signature technique is adding metal foils. I love the flow of colour against the edges of the metals.

I am also an educator, a creativity coach, an author, and a healer.

I truly believe that everyone is creative in different ways. I love working with people to heal themselves through creativity. Using different mediums, painting, writing, beads, meditation and so much more

My name is Sylwia Gryczuk, I am a mum of two beautiful girls, an artist, illustrator and youth justice worker. After completing my master’s degree in Pedagogy I decided to leave my beautiful country Poland and move to evergreen Ireland. My creative journey started here on this island full of fairy stories and history. Here I discover my love for children’s art and illustrations. I believe that every one of us has an inner child hidden within, and sometimes we just need to let it go and let our inner child take over. I love creating with different mediums such as watercolors, acrylics, inks, vintage papers, stamps, and stencils. I enjoy making multilayered backgrounds, but my biggest love of all is painting magical things such as fairies, unicorns, and rainbows. I am very inspired by fairytales and children’s drawings. I am amazed by kids’ creations and their ways of painting freely without overthinking. As it is all about letting it go, having fun and enjoying the process!

A few years ago I was dealing with some serious, chronic health issues. My doctor’s solution was to prescribe medications by the hundreds. I was driven by this pain to seek a solution other than my doctor’s. One of the solutions turned out to be art.

I started playing and dabbling, taking a few online courses and what I quickly realized is that no matter how much physical pain I woke up with, I didn’t feel any pain once I sat down at my easel. Now, a few years later, pain is no longer a significant part of my life.

It was the release from the pain while I played with the art that gave me hope I could move beyond that pain. I have heard so many stories about how people have used art for healing and changed lives that I am moved to get this message out to anyone who will care to listen.

Hi, my name is Maha Atef, I’m the co-founder of Selsal online gift store and art school. I’m a self-taught artist with a pharmacy degree. I’ve been designing and making gifts and jewelry with polymer clay since 2013 and for as long as I can remember, I’ve had a great passion for art and drawing. Along with my younger sister Menna, she was a high school student in those days, we started Selsal in 2013.

And for a whole year, I was working in a pharmaceutical company while simultaneously growing my own business. Menna and I were in a position to create a variety of designs for jewelry and keychains. It wasn’t until I realized how much people like our products that I decided to leave my pharmaceutical career behind and own my own business. Despite my family’s worries about such a decision, they have fully respected my will and supported me once I made the leap. With their help, Selsal studio was formed in the ground floor of the family home. And this is how Selsal was born from my desire to finding success at something I am passionate about.

As I love to share my knowledge with people, two years ago, I’ve started Selsal School to do so through a number of online courses in drawing and polymer clay. Through Selsal School online courses, I can share my experience and all that I’ve learned from my mistakes with students from all over the World. And that makes me so excited about what I do. And this also makes me so curious to learn more so I can teach more.

Other info
My online courses in polymer clay and ink markers on Udemy and Skillshare have more than 2000 students from all over the World. And two of my courses have Udemy's badge as "Highest Rated" courses!

I am a mixed media artist inspired by fantasy and dark whimsy.
I am fascinated by expressive face and animals and I love to create dreamy portraits. My work evolves in many layers and is often accompanied by a story or poem that comes to me along the creative journey.

I studied Fine Art and Design and also Fashion Design and over years of creating I have worked as a glass engraver, run several galleries, and designed and even created headdresses and tiaras for a Bridal House for a time.

I consider myself a life long student and also discovered in the past few years how much I enjoy sharing the skills and techniques I have developed, offering workshops here in beautiful Cornwall, UK and then in 2019 I launched my first online classes and I am so grateful to be connecting with many students and artists around the world in this way.

I firmly believe in the healing power of art. I've seen the effects up close and personal. Art is my passion! As a mixed media artist, layering texture and color in an intuitive manner helps me weave a visual history. My goal is to provide a mysterious and intriguing surface, engaging you, the viewer.

I find words especially appealing and much of my work is inspired by books and poetry. I encourage students to use color and shape to explore a subject while allowing them to personally connect with the artwork, inventing their own story.

I often work in a series and working on multiple pieces with an over-arching theme allows me to explore and communicate my concept in many different ways. Having my students work in a series really allows them to dig deep into the emotional well.

I will be featured in the Jan-March issues of House & Garden UK in 2020. I am participating in the 2020 Art is Magic make-create-express creative journey. I also participated in Art Bundles for Good #4 in the fall of 2019.

Tammy is a 3rd generation psychic medium who feels that this natural part of her life is just like breathing. It is all she has ever known.

When Tammy was 4 years old her Grandfather passed away. She remembers from that young age visiting and playing games with her Grandfather's spirit. Her abilities have only grown and evolved since then.

She now uses her intuitive abilities to pass on messages from loved ones and angels to us in the physical world. Tammy made it very clear many years ago that she would only use her abilities for positive and would only welcome entities from "The Light". This is why she is has chosen to be known as a Divine Messenger.

Tammy is a down to earth and no-nonsense Channel who is known to bring humor and precision to every reading.

Hi, I’m Lee Clements, a mixed media artist, art journaler and art teacher living in Melbourne, Australia. I believe that we all have inherent creativity, and inspiring and encouraging others to find their voice through creative exploration and expression, regardless of experience or artistic ability, is deeply gratifying and is my passion.

A firm advocate for art journaling as a tool for mental wellbeing, my art journal pages are a mixture of inner reflection, contemplation, and healing, as well as inspiring quotes, light bulb moments and treasured memories. Incorporating personal symbology, I draw inspiration from the organic beauty of nature, the many facets of the human face, and the meditative process of mandalas.

“My art journal is the place where I can express myself honestly, unashamedly, unconditionally, thoughtfully and playfully. It is the place that brings me back to the centre and grounds me. It is my place of comfort and healing, a place to explore and play, and foremost, a place where I can just ‘be’

For the past 5 years, I have been accepted into my local city art space program. These have been solo exhibitions with various themes including art journaling and nature-inspired canvas works.
I have been teaching in person workshops for the past 8 years and this year is my first year as a guest teacher in Effy Wild's Book of Days online course. I have also been invited back to teach again in the Book of Days 2020.

Random facts? Well, I love reading both fiction and non-fiction, walking on the beach and listening to music. I love cooking and trying out new recipes and my favorite desserts are sticky date pudding and anything dark chocolate. I love traveling and my favorite city in the world is Paris, but my home town of Melbourne, Australia comes pretty close.

My name is Christina, I have been married to my sailor for 37 years. We have to young me and two silly little kittens who rule the house! I have worked in Special Education for 25 years now where I worked as a paraeducator and last year, I became an Assistive Technology Assistant. I work with iPad and other techie stuff. I have always been a creative person, so doing this switch was fairly easy for me.

As a creative person, I see art in many different ways and forms. I always say that photography is my first love, and it really is. I have never gone anywhere without a camera. My photos have changed over the years which is the same as my creativity. About maybe 6 years ago, time flew so I am guessing at this.LOL, I started making these art dolls. I submitted them to an online auction and sold every single one of them. Then about 3 months after that, I was asked to make a custom doll, but I was to ask the doll what it wanted to be. So in other words, as I created the doll, I had to ask it..what color of hair do you want, what do you want to wear etc. That is when it dawned on me that the reality of making these dolls is that I am not the creator of them. They create themselves. I am just a tool. To ask it a question and to have it answered in your head is the strangest thing, but it was also amazing! This changed my thinking about life itself. So I started taking more classes online and have learned that mixed media is where my strengths are and just by asking the piece, what do you want...it changes everything!

I have been published in 5 magazines, 1 painting magazine years ago, 3 Somerset Magazines and one Jewelry magazine in the past couple of years. I teach local art classes at a local art gallery, acrylic pouring, and mixed media projects.

For my first 20 years I was a high tech, product development engineer taking products from concept to high volume production. I hired and worked with over 100 engineers that needed the same help as I did - so learning and applying problem solving, creativity, and communication skills was a focus of mine.

In 1980, I was awakened taking 'Master Key' - a program about consciousness that showed me the power of intuition and ways to enhance it. I learned ancient wisdoms and universal laws and how humanity evolves. I never looked back as I bought every personal and spiritual growth book and course I could get.

After RESEARCHING and APPLYING intuition and consciousness, I started teaching about consciousness in all areas of life and especially in our soul journey. I created 30  spiritual development programs  and am now working towards being more of a thought leader and working on new ways for new times as we participate in the evolving edge of consciousness.

Jeanette is an abstract artist and was born in Alberta and grew up in Calgary. She uses acrylic on canvas. Her natural artistic ability surfaced at an early age where she found herself fascinated with colors from nature. Being surrounded with golden prairies and the majestic blues and grays of the Rocky Mountains, Jeanette absorbed their beauty on a regular basis. Her gift gives her the ability to translate objects in nature into non-representational forms using rich and vivid colors. Her signature technique is her use of layering.

Jeanette attended art history class in University where with each passing lecture she was more and more curious about the techniques used. She was instantly drawn to the works of Wassily Kandinsky, Peter Kitchell and Sam Francis. This gave her inspiration to develop her painting style using layers of colors and lines to incorporate a sense of energy and movement in her work.

Her paintings are based on how she interprets the visual world independent of the object's concreteness. She uses a variety of acrylics, sand and gels and then strips parts of it down using water or tools. They blend together for a harmonious effect for a "sophisticated work of color". Even though she obtained her Education degree and worked in the IT field as a Systems Engineer, Jeanette has continued with her painting as it is something that she is compelled to do. "I've been told my paintings are passionate and colorful. I consider myself very lucky to be following my true passion in life!"

Jody talks about a creative writing process he uses.

PROPRIOCEPTIVE WRITING

The name of the book on proprioceptive writing is “Writing the Mind Alive” by Linda Trichter Metcalf, Ph.D and Tobin Smith, Ph.D

The journal exercise that I’ve adapted from the book is as follows:

As you write each sentence, pay attention to any words or expressions you use that, upon reflection, seem to stand out as ambiguous or possibly containing deeper meanings.

Take that word and in the following sentence, delve deeper into what you think you mean by that word. For example, if you write “I’m really not happy with my work”, the word “happy” may stand out in your awareness. Begin the next sentence with “by ‘happy’, I mean...” and then write whatever comes to mind.

As you continue to write, keep an eye out for other similar words or expressions that stand out, and then explore them accordingly.

Anthony Bourdain Quote that Jody all speaks of.
"Maybe that's enlightenment enough: to know that there is no final resting place of the mind; no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom... is realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go."

Novalee Wilder is a Danish actress and artist turned professional numerologist and writer living in Los Angeles. She is an alumna of the William Esper Studio in NYC, and a certified Match Numerologist from the Institute of Numerology, Denmark.

From twelve-step programs to internationally acclaimed professional training and Balinese mask workshops, Novalee has explored personal growth techniques and the keys to understanding and illuminating the human condition through all her work. Yet, the years of training pale in comparison to the life-altering experience of changing her name with the help of numerology. Blown away by the potency and accuracy of this ancient esoteric tool, she decided to master it and is now an expert within her field.

Novalee's first book A Little bit of Numerology is available at your favorite bookstore today. She offers one-on-one name change sessions, and group training in the sacred spiritual science of numbers and letters.

website: www.novaleewilder.com
IG: www.instagram.com/novaleewilder
FB: www.facebook.com/novaleenumerology

Novalee shares a quote towards the end of the interview.
Here is the quote, It's Martha Graham's words from a letter she sent to Agnes DeMille:
There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. ... No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.

Kriket has been practicing shamanism in Edmonton for almost 25 years. She practices the Medicine of her Grandmother and family from Finland. Her interest in stories and Myths from around the world sparked when she began to experience shamanic trances. She shared her intense desire to learn and teach through a shamanic drumming circle she led for 15 years. During this time she listened intently to the journeys of others, reporting their visual and visceral experiences they had when entranced with the sound of the drum. Common themes, symbols and mythological beings, were a constant in her own experiences, as well as experiences shared with her during drumming circles and classes she taught.

In her quest to better understand the shamanic visionary world, she studied the works of Carl Jung and other analysts exploring depth psychology. Joseph Campbell introduced her to the world of comparative mythology. She discovered how to put the ancient words and experiences into a modern language accessible to the many.

She is currently exploring the mediums of the electronic world, as a means of continuing to share her years of experience and knowledge. She has a library of podcasts, learning modules and newsletters on her website www.shamansway.net. She encourages each of us to find a path for our own feet to trod.
