Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine and affects 2-3 million people in the US. Did you know that you can develop Scoliosis (and lower back pain) through chronic tension patterns? Co-host Alex Corey was informed he had Grade 1 Scoliosis in his early 20s via an unrelated X-ray and has dealt with lower back pain when awareness slips from posture, mobility, and core strength ever since.

In this episode, we discuss
-How Scoliosis can originate via chronic automatic self-correcting mechanisms
-Awareness and Self-Discovery as keys to empowering your body to recover
-Practices and Modalities to discover tension patterns that may be showing up elsewhere in your body
-Considerations for strength and conditioning or athletic training
-Where the Allopathic Medical Model shines and abysmally fails
-Mobility and Range of Motion as the most important factors in functional movement
-Exercises/Techniques for Postural Correction

Bill describes Systema as a means to know yourself, how you react given an external input, how your body masks pain and tension patterns, and how to find an existing patterns to diffuse. We cover the best ways to diffuse and integrate tension patterns, how to increase your neurological capacity, and ways to train the neurology without creating trauma, breaking ourselves, or needing to constantly recover.

Inflammation is a natural response of the body to injury or infection, and it is characterized by redness, swelling, heat, and pain. Inflammation is caused by the release of chemical mediators, such as histamine and prostaglandins, which sensitize nerve endings and increase blood flow to the affected area.
This increased blood flow brings immune cells and other substances that can help to repair or remove the injury or infection. However, the increased blood flow and nerve sensitivity also cause pain. In chronic pain conditions, such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation plays a significant role in the development and maintenance of pain.
Attempts to address pain from a sympathetic (stress-based) state may not full reveal the root cause of the inflammation.
Sometimes specific protocols or modalities such as deep breathing, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), or induced relaxation can help us even recognize how dis-regulated we are. After coming back down to a more baseline or foundational state of our neurology, we can then start to feel subtle signs of inflammation such as brain fog, lethargy, impaired memory recall or poor cognitive performance, digestive discomfort, etc and begin a gentle trial and error process within our neurology.

Neurology functions in the pattern of a fractal. Awareness and analysis at the proper level of your neurology
is critical to addressing pain, which we only usually detect in the densest layer, our physical body.
Neurology functions as a fractal and analysis at the correct level of the fractal is necessary to truly start at the beginning.
The first step that Bill teaches in his program, via orthobionomy, is getting you back to baseline first, into comfort, before any decisions are made in a heightened, stressed state and before any techniques are applied
Check out any of the links below if this video was helpful to find help in getting back to your baseline.

“The techniques that we use to relieve pain in some respect are not as important as the orientation. One needs to certainly have a nice broad toolset of ways to intervene technically but I think even more important is developing a view and capacity to see as deeply as possible.“
