Our Beliefs Encapsulated We believe that Jesus is the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38, 4:12, 10:44–48; Eph. 2:8, 4:5) We believe that we are chosen people, separated from the world (2 Cor. 6:17-18).

The sufferings, the humbling is the workings of God.
Matt 16:24 a disciples have a teachable spirit. To be a disciple, there must be a price.
Being off the alter is free, but there is a price to following Jesus.
The cross was a violent event.
Taking up the cross will violate yourself.

There was a belief among the pagans that a god was only powerful in one territory; ie. god of the hills, god of the plains, god of the rain, etc. Syria believed this of Israel.
1 Kings 20:22 Benhadad the king of Syria is trying to tell Israel where they are vulnerable. But God has no vulnerability.
