In Korea, there is usually two different words each explaining vacation in different occasions. 먼저, 학교를 다니는 사람들의 vacation, 즉, for those who go to school, school vacation은 방학입니다. 방학은 한자어인데요 방은 놓을 방이고 학은 배울 학이예요. 즉, 방학이라는 것은 배움을 잠시 놓다는 건데요, 영어로 표현하면 방학은 learning break라고 볼 수 있겠습니다. 한편 회사를 다니거나 일을 하고 있는 사람들의 vacation은 '휴가'라고 부릅니다. 휴가도 한자어입니다. 휴는 쉴 휴고, 가는 '틈' 가라는 한자로 이루어져있어요. 즉, 쉬는 틈이라는 뜻입니다. 즉 한국말에서는 vacation이 방학 또는 휴가라고 부를 수 있는데요 방학은 학교를 다니는 사람에게 휴가는 일을 하고 있는 사람에게 적용할 수 있는 말입니다. 오늘은 제가 블로그를 하면서 든 생각에 대해 이야기해보고자 합니다. Today, I would like to share a thought that came up to me when I was blogging.

저는 워낙 교통 수단에 있는 시간이 많다보니, 한국의 고속열차인 KTX 좌석 리뷰를 간단하게 올립니다. 코레일 사장님이 보시고 티켓 하나라도 쥐어주시지 않을까하는 상상으로 시작했는데, 물론 그런 일은 없습니다.

그런데 제 블로그로 유입되는 분들의 키워드를 보면 엄청 자세합니다. 좌석 번호까지 검색해서 오시는 분들도 있고, 열차 번호, 열차 시간까지

그런데 아무래도 KTX 좌석 그 자체에 대해 저처럼 세부적으로 써 놓은 글이 없다보니 제 블로그로 많이 유입되는 것 같아요.

KTX는 여행수단이자 출장수단이기에, 저처럼 KTX가 일상이 아닌 분들에게는, KTX를 타는 것은 매우 신경쓰이고, 많이 계획해야 하는 일이라는 생각이 들었어요.

누구에게나 KTX를 탑승한다는 것 자체가 기쁜 일이기도 하고요.

향후 콘텐츠 아이디어를 생각할 때도, 스스로에게는 일상이지만 다른 분들에게는 일상이 아닌 것들에서 찾는 것도 하나의 방법이라는 생각이 들었습니다.

국립국악원, National Gukak Center는 Korean Music, 즉, Gukak을 연구하고 다루는 곳입니다. 요즘은 토요일마다 Saturday Gukak Concert라고 해서 국악공연이 지속적으로 열리고 있어요. 매주 세시, 3PM every saturday에 열립니다. 가격은 A seat은 2만원, B seat은 1만원으로 매우 저렴하고, Saturday Gukak Concert가 열린 이후에는 Docent Tour도 예정되어 있으니 서울에 방문한다면 꼭 가보세요.

[Script] 안녕하세요, 오늘은 주말동안 싱숭생숭했던 제 마음에 대해 이야기해보고자 해요. 저번 주에 중요한 일 두 가지가 있었는데요, 먼저 기말고사가 끝났습니다. 그리고 제 생일이었습니다. 그 중에서도 기말고사가 끝났다는 말은, 치과대학 3학년에 다니는 저에게 조금 큰 의미를 가지고 있어요.

제가 앞으로 병원에서 학생 의사로서 치과 환자들을 본다는 의미입니다. 3학년 1학기가 끝나면, 방학 때부터 병원에서 일을 하기 때문이죠.

이렇게 큰 전환점을 맞이하다보니 싱숭생숭했던 마음이 들었어요.

아시는 분들은 아시겠지만 저는 치과대학에 오기 전에 대한민국을 대표하는 방송국 중 하나를 다니다가 왔는데요,

전환점에서 제가 한 선택이 맞는 것인지 그리고 제가 치과대학에서 보낸 꽤 오랜 시간을 잘 살아 온 것인지 다시 되짚어보게 되더라구요.

그래서 전 직장이었던 방송국에 다녀왔습니다. 그리고 해당 방송국에 다니던 친구를 만나기도 했는데요, 이건 그 이유 때문에 만난 건 아니지만 저에게는 오랜만에 친구를 만나 즐거웠던 시간인 것 같습니다.

과연 내가 올바른 선택을 한 것인가 많은 생각이 들었는데요 여러 고민을 하고 생각을 하다보니 마음이 한결 편해졌어요. 그리고 결론적으로 저에게 맞는 선택을 한 것 같아요.

앞으로는 제가 직접, 다른 사람들한테 무언가를 해줄 수 있다는 것. 아픔을 해결해줄 수 있다는 것이 앞으로 제 새로운 직업이 될 분야의 매력이자 보람이라고 생각합니다.

평소 저에게 왜 서울을 자주 가냐고 물어보시는 분들도 많은데요, 그때 저는 위의 두 가지 이유를 설명해줍니다.

오늘 들은 소식인데 제 과외 학생이 기말고사 수학 시험에서 1등을 했다고 합니다! 정말 기분이 좋아서 여러분과 공유하고 싶었어요.

이 학생은 제가 작년 12월부터 가르쳤던 학생인데요, 원래는 한국에서 학교를 다니다가 아버지가 중국에 일하러 가시면서 함께 중국으로 건너가 국제학교에 다니게 된 학생입니다.

수학 자체는 나쁘지 않은 실력을 가지고 있었는데 영어를 조금 어려워했어요. 그리고 해당 국제학교는 영국 교육과정을 배우는 것이었는데, 한국과 비교했을 때 서술형도 많아서 힘들어했습니다.

특히 영어로된 수학 용어를 매우 어려워했습니다. 그래도 차근 차근, 기초적인 수학 용어부터 배우기 시작했어요.

처음에는 많이 어려워하더니, 이후에 실력이 조금씩 조금씩 올라가서 드디어 1등을 했다고 합니다.

제가 진심으로 대하고, 열심히 가르쳐주었던 것이 유효했던 것 같아서 매우 기쁩니다.

물론 가장 큰 것은 학생이 열심히 한 것이겠지만요.

Korean Podcast 오늘Oneul[Script] 안녕하세요, 오늘은 코로나19 시대가 막이 내리고 한국에서 긍정적으로 바뀐 것에 관해 이야기하고자 합니다. 첫 번째로, 많은 나라에서도 마찬가지이겠지만 IT 기술이 굉장히 빠른 속도로 보급되었어요. 특히, 한국의 경우 젊은 사람들은 이미 IT 기술에 익숙했었지만, 나이가 많으신 분들, 즉 중장년층의 경우 아직 스마트폰 사용이나 쿠팡과 같은 인터넷 쇼핑에 익숙하지 않으신 분들이 많았습니다. 그런데 코로나 이후에는 나이가 많든, 적든, 많은 사람이 IT 기술을 매우 적극적으로 사용하게 되었습니다. 실제로 얼마 전 한 여론조사 업체에서 40대부터 60대까지 이용하는 쇼핑 채널을 묻자, 인터넷 쇼핑이 마트, 편의점을 제치고 1위를 했습니다. 두 번째로, 개인 간의 거리에 대해 다시 한번 생각해보면서, 개인주의 문화가 우리나라에 빠른 속도로 정착되었습니다. 예전에는 한국은 무조건 집단이 우선시 되었었는데요, 코로나19로 인해 사회적 거리 두기가 진행되면서, 개인 간의 신체적 거리뿐만 아니라 심리적 거리에 관한 생각도 다시 한번 전 국민이 해보게 되었습니다. 이로 인해 많은 사람이 개인의 물리적, 심리적 공간에 대해 존중해주는 습관을 지니게 되었습니다. 세 번째로, 어떻게 보면 앞에 나온 개인주의와 반대되는 내용일 수도 있지만, 한국 사회에 대한 한국의 신뢰도가 높아졌습니다. 우리나라 사람들이 서로 방역 수칙을 잘 지키고, 정부도 빠르게 의료기관을 확충하고 시스템을 정비한 덕분에 상대적으로 코로나19로 인한 피해가 적었습니다. 실제로 한 여론조사 업체에서 조사한 결과에 따르면, 코로나19를 겪으면서 우리 사회가 신뢰할만하다고 느낀 사람이 61%에 이르렀습니다. 기술의 빠른 보급, 개인주의 문화의 정착, 사회에 대한 신뢰 증가가 코로나19의 긍정적 영향입니다. www.youtube.com/@todaypodcastKorean Podcast Oneul오늘은 우리나라 사람들이 공부하는 곳에 대해 소개해보고자 합니다. 특이하게 한국에는 공부할 수 있는 곳이 엄청 많아요. 대표적으로 도서관이 있는데요, 우리나라의 도서관에서는 특이하게 공부할 수 있는 공간이 따로 마련이 되어 있답니다. 바로 열람실, 영어로 번역하자면 Open Book Room이라는 공간인데요, 도서관에 있는 책뿐만 아니라 자기 자신이 가져온 책을 공부할 수 있는 공간입니다. 보통의 열람실에는 예약 시스템이 있어서 먼저 온 순서로 예약을 하고 몇 시간 단위로 그 자리를 제가 온전히 쓸 수 있어요. 공공 도서관 Public library를 이용하면 공짜니까, 무료로 몇 시간 동안 공부를 할 수 있는 내 자리가 생기는 셈입니다. 이러한 공공시설 외에도 독서실이 있는데요, 영어로 번역하면 Reading Room이라고 할 수 있겠네요. 독서실은 Private, 사설 시설로, 돈을 내고 이용하는 공간입니다. 한 시간에 4000원에서 10,000원 정도로 꽤 가격이 비싼데요, 독서실은 공부할 수 있는 개인 공간을 빌려줍니다. 전통적인 독서실에서는 보통 책상을 제외한 공간의 빛을 매우 어둡게 해놔서 집중력을 높일 수 있게 합니다. 아마 한국 영화를 보신 분들이라면 독서실을 본 적이 있으실 거예요. 최근에는 스터디 카페가 유행하고 있습니다. 스터디 카페는 카페처럼 생긴 독서실이라고 생각하면 됩니다. 독서실은 보통 칸막이가 높은데, 스터디 카페는 말 그대로 카페처럼 생긴 공간으로 공부에 최적화된 여러 편의 시설이 있습니다. 와이파이가 제공 되고요, 노트북과 핸드폰을 충전할 수 있는 컨센트도 각 좌석마다 있습니다. “한국인은 공부에 진심이다”라는 말이 있는데요, 이 말처럼 스터디 카페도 계속 진화하고 있습니다. 스터디 카페에서 음료와 간식을 서비스로 제공하고 있구요, 최신식 의자를 도입한다던가 계속 발전하는 모습을 보이고 있습니다.

KTX과 SRT는 고속 기차입니다. 보통 시간 당 300km의 속도로 달립니다. 빠른 기차의 경우 서울에서 동대구역까지 가는데 두 시간 안에 갈 수 있어요. 가격은 다른 열차보다 비싸지만, 매우 빠른 속도로 우리나라 국토를 주행할 수 있기 때문에 선호되고 있습니다. ITX는 그보다 느린데요, 보통 시간당 100km에서 200km사이로 달린다고 알려져 있어요. 최근에 리모델링을 시행해서 깔끔한 시설을 갖추고 있습니다. 무궁화호는 보통 시속 100~150km사이로 달리구요, 시설이 다른 열차보다 안 좋아요. 그래도 최근에는 무궁화 리미트 객차가 들어오는 등 최신식 객차도 많이 설치되고 있습니다. 또한 좌석간 거리는 오히려 KTX보다 넓어서 무궁화호 매니아들이 있습니다. 저는 서울이 본가이고 부산으로 학교를 다니기 때문에 기차를 많이 이용해요. 대부분 지하철역과 연결되어 있기 때문에 이용도 편리합니다. 만약 한국을 여행할 일이 있으시다면 외국인들에게 코레일 패스도 판매하니까요, 한번 참고해보세요!

우리나라의 지하철은 잘 되어 있기로

세계적으로 유명하죠.

한국에 살았던 제가 보기에도

특별한 점이 많은데요

첫 번째로 의자가

뜨끈 뜨끈 난방이 됩니다.

요즘과 같은 추운 겨울에 특히

좋습니다.

마치 한국의

전통적인 난방 시스템인

온돌 시스템 처럼

서울 지하철 의자는

뜨끈 뜨끈 난방이 됩니다.

두 번째로

와이파이가 됩니다.

지하철에서 와이파이를 무료로 이용할 수 있습니다.

그래서 한국 지하철을 타면

모두가 핸드폰을 하고 있는 것을 볼 수 있을 거예요.

세 번째로 환승 시스템이 매우 잘 되어 있습니다.

그렇기 때문에 중간에 노선을

오늘은

삼각김밥을 먹었습니다.

한국의 편의점에

방문해본 분은 아시겠지만

삼각김밥은

다양한 맛이 있고

다양한 재료를 가지고 있어요.

저는 참치마요 삼각김밥을 좋아합니다.

방금 두 개를 먹었는데,

첫 번째 삼각김밥을 먹었을 때

껍질을 벗기는

순서를 잘못했습니다.

그러니까

김이 잘 나오지 않고

삼각김밥도 찌그러졌어요.

한국에 오셔서

삼각김밥을 드셔 보신 분이라면 잘 아시겠지만

삼각김밥에는 번호가 써져 있어요.

보통 3번까지 써 있는데

회사마다 다르지만

제가 먹은 삼각김밥은

오른쪽이 1번,

왼쪽이 2번,

그 다음에 전체를

수직적으로 벗기는 것이 3번이었습니다.

그 순서를 잘 지키면 삼각김밥이 이쁘게 나옵니다.

첫 번째 삼각김밥을 먹고 나서는

정신차리고 제대로 뜯었어요.

1번,

2번,

3번.

그러니 역시나 깔끔하게 뜯기고

맛도 있더라구요.

삼각김밥을 통해 얻은 교훈은,

만약

순서를 지켜야

해결되는 일이 있다면,

조바심을 가지지 않고,

그리고 순서를

잊지 않고

잘 지켜서

차근차근

해내야 한다는 것입니다.

오늘은 월요병에 대해서 이야기해보려고 합니다.

우리나라에서는 월요병이라는 말이 유행입니다.

월요병.

말 그대로 월요일과 병을 합친 말인데요

출근하는 직장인들이나

학교에 가야하는 학생이나

주말에 푹 쉬고

다시 일주일을 시작한다는 게 싫다는 겁니다.

학교와 회사를 가기 싫고,

우울해지고, 피로감에 쌓인다고 합니다.

미국에서는 이를 일요일의 공포

Sunday scaries라고 부른다는데

미국에서 사는 분들,

맞나요?

월요병을 극복하는 방법에는 어떤 것들이 있을까요

조금 조사를 해봤습니다.

여러 가지 방법이 있었는데, 월요일 아침 식사를 거르지 말라는 이야기가 많았습니다.

아침을 먹지 않으면 에너지가 부족해져서 월요병을 극복하기 힘들다는 이야기입니다.

엄청 합리적인 이야기인 것 같아서 가져와봤어요.

월요일 아침식사를 일주일 중 가장 근사한 아침으로 만든다면

월요일 아침이 정말 기대될 것 같습니다.

가장 좋아하는 음식으로 아침을 만들어 보는 건 어떨까요?

그러면 그 아침이 월요일 아침에 성공적으로 일어난 나에게 보내는 ‘상’처럼 느껴져서

뿌듯할 것 같네요.

사실 저는 월요일 아침을 잘 챙겨 먹고 있지 않고

지금 부엌이 없는 기숙사에서 살고 있어서

선택할 수 있는 방법이 많지 않은데요

이 방법을 보고

한번 저도 따라해보고 싶어서

쿠팡

로켓 프레시를 이용해서

제가 제일 좋아하는 브랜드의

샐러드 랩을 주문했습니다.

기숙사에 살면

채소와 야채를 챙겨 먹을 방법이

많지 않은데요,

그래서 공감하지 못하시는 분들도 많겠지만

어느 새 제가 제일 좋아하는 음식은

샐러드 랩이 되어버렸어요.

샐러드 랩에는 건강한

재료가 많기 때문이죠.

다행히 이 곳 양산에는 쿠팡 물류센터가

바로 옆에 있어서 자정까지 주문하면

다음날 새벽에 기숙사 문 앞으로 배달이 됩니다.

오늘은 토요일입니다.

원래는 오늘 기말고사 공부도 하고

미루어 두었던 빨래도 조금 하려고 했는데

막상 한 게 없어요.

실내 자전거 조금 타고

요즘 넷플릭스의

인기 드라마죠.

웬즈데이를 봤습니다.

팀 버튼이 만든 드라마인데

특유의 분위기가 잘 살아 있고

한 편, 한 편마다 영화 같아서

잘 보고 있습니다.

이거 말고

무언가 생산적인 일을 한 적은 없네요.

제가 이 때마다 떠올리는

영어 문장이 있는데

Weekends are not meant to be productive.

토요일은 토요일이잖아요.

재충전을 위해 사용하는 게 맞죠.

학교에서 5일 내내 수업을 듣기도 했습니다.

항상 풀 집중하는 것은 아니지만

그것 만으로 잘 헤쳐 나갔다고 생각해요.

사실 좀 더 어렸을 때는

이보다 기준점이 높았던 것 같기는 해요.

주말에 항상 누군가를 만났고

공부를 했고

더 넓은 세상에

어떤 것들이 있는지 탐구했어요.

그런데

나이가 조금 들고

제 인생의 울타리가

어느 정도 정해지고 난 다음부터는

무작정 많은 사람을 만나거나

무작정 더 넓은 세상을 추구하는

주말을 보내지는 않는 것 같습니다.

오늘은 제 취미에 대해서 이야기 해보려고 합니다.

테니스를 시작한지는

테니스를 잘 치는 데는

자세를 딱 지켜야

몸에 무리가 가지 않으면서

멀리 나갈 수 있도록

조절이 가능한 것 같습니다.

요즘

한국에서는

테니스가 유행인데요

저는 유행이 시작되기 전부터

관심을 가지고 있긴 했어요.

그런데 테니스 코트,

테니스 옷,

테니스 공이 인스타그래머블하고

여러 테니스 클럽을 통해

사람들을 만날 수 있는

기회를 제공한다는 인식이

퍼지면서

테니스가 인기있는 스포츠로

거듭난 것이 아닌가 합니다.

저는 아직 학생이다보니

앉아 있는 시간이 많은데요

그러다보니

테니스 같이

발산적인 운동이

재미있는 것 같아요.

앉아 있을 때는 에너지가

제 안에 모여 있는데

테니스를 치면

에너지가 발산되는 것 같아서요.

그런데 요즘은

너무 많이 치면

관절에는 좋지 않은 운동인 것 같아서

고민이 되긴 하네요.
