Helping Extraordinary Women Raise Up their Voice, Visibility & Business: Storyteller, Connector, & Coach for Women

View Details

I have always loved introducing great women to great women.

There is something magical about what happens when the right women find each other. Conversations spark. Ideas expand. Partnerships emerge. Businesses grow. Lives change.

Fifteen years ago, I remember telling my business coach how much I loved making those connections. Then I shared an idea that wouldn’t go away: What if I created a series of gatherings where I could introduce all of the extraordinary women I knew to each other?

“What’s stopping you?” Without hesitation, I answered, “What if no one comes?” She smiled and lovingly called me out. “What if they do?”

It was exactly the question I needed to hear.

So I booked a room, invited women, and we gathered. I didn’t have some grand master plan. I simply knew I wanted to create a space where women could have conversations that mattered. Conversations that stretched our thinking, expanded our businesses, and reminded us that we didn’t have to build our dreams alone.

Those evenings became Extraordinary Women Connect, and over the years, nearly a thousand women gathered in those rooms. Every event reminded me of the same truth: the magic was never on the stage. It happened in the conversations, when one woman shared an idea that unlocked something in another, when a connection became a collaboration, or when someone felt seen, encouraged, or inspired to take the next step because another woman believed in her.

Those conversations became the foundation for everything that followed. The Extraordinary Women Ignite Conference was born and is now entering its twelfth year. Extraordinary Women Radio followed, and nearly 450 conversations later, it has become another gathering place where remarkable women entrepreneurs, leaders, and changemakers share their wisdom with women around the world.

Looking back, I can see that every space I’ve created has been rooted in the same belief: when extraordinary women come together around meaningful conversations, we all become wiser. While I no longer host the local Extraordinary Women Connect events, the heart of what we created has never gone away. As our community has grown beyond Colorado and become increasingly global, I’ve been listening for what it wanted to become next.

That’s what led me to Extraordinary Women Connect on Substack.

We’ve gathered in a Facebook community for years, and I’m grateful for everything it made possible. But as the algorithms changed, it became increasingly difficult for women to find one another and for meaningful conversations to reach the people who needed them. I wanted a home where our community, not an algorithm, shaped what we experienced.

I wanted to create a place where our conversations and connections could continue every week instead of just a couple of times a year. A place where we could learn from one another.

A place where I could share what I’m seeing as business continues to evolve, where we could explore visibility, leadership, purpose, and prosperity together, and where we could ask the kinds of questions that help us build businesses aligned with the lives we’re here to live.

Most importantly, I want Extraordinary Women Connect on Substack to become a gathering place for our collective wisdom. I believe some of our greatest insights emerge when extraordinary women come together, share what they’re seeing, ask meaningful questions, and build on one another’s ideas.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • Discussion and research on what is emerging in business, leadership, visibility, and prosperity.
  • Powerful questions that invite us to think more deeply and spark meaningful conversations.
  • The collective wisdom that emerges when extraordinary women share their experiences and perspectives.
  • New ideas, fresh possibilities, and what’s next for women entrepreneurs as we discover it together.

I want to hear what you’re noticing. I want to know what questions you’re sitting with, what you’re learning, what you’re celebrating, and what possibilities you’re beginning to see. Some of the richest insights don’t come because one person has the answer. They come because a community of thoughtful women is willing to think together, share openly, and build on one another’s wisdom.

Looking back, I realize that’s what we’ve been doing all along. We’ve been co-creating. Women’s wisdom expands because we’re willing to share it with one another.

I’d love to invite you to join us inside Extraordinary Women Connect on Substack. Whether you’ve been part of this journey for years or you’re just discovering our community, I believe your voice has something valuable to add.

The future of business won’t be built by women competing for attention. It will be built by women willing to gather, share their wisdom, and co-create what’s possible together.

I hope you’ll join us.

Today, Kami is joined by Barbara Brooks. Barbara is a powerhouse when it comes to PR, visibility, and helping women be known for the work they’ve already earned the right to lead with. This is a conversation about prosperity in a fuller sense, not just financial, but the kind that comes from recognizing your voice and allowing your work to be seen at the level it deserves.

In This Episode:

  • Why women who already have deep experience and wisdom are realizing that visibility is not about self-promotion, but about allowing their work and leadership to be seen at the level it deserves
  • How PR and media visibility help women elevate their authority, expand recognition, and become trusted voices in their industries and communities
  • What it really takes to build authority in a new season of leadership, including owning your expertise, refining your message, and fully embodying the value you bring
  • How women can identify powerful story opportunities, cultural conversations, and visibility moments that align with the work they are here to lead
  • Practical insights for pitching media, preparing for interviews, building relationships with journalists, and showing up confidently on camera and on stage
  • Why relationships continue to be one of the most important foundations of visibility, influence, and long-term prosperity
  • How women over 40 are stepping into one of the most powerful seasons of leadership, influence, and visibility in their lives
  • What begins to shift when women stop waiting for permission, say yes to themselves, and allow their voice and leadership to fully take up space

One of my favorite soundbites I share with my clients is this: conversations create.

This past month, my Movement Maker Mastermind has been participating in a connections challenge. Each woman set her own personal goal for how many points of connection she wanted to make each day throughout the month of March.

It’s a simple and energizing practice, and it’s one I picked up from my own business coach a few years ago. It stayed with me because it works. Over time, it has become part of how I naturally show up in my business. I’m consistently in conversation, connecting, engaging, and building relationships in a way that feels aligned.

At the heart of it, I believe this deeply. Conversations create. They open doors, deepen relationships, and create opportunities that simply don’t happen any other way.

And I see this play out again and again. The women who are willing to stay in conversation, to connect, and to engage with people in a meaningful way are the ones who begin to build real momentum in their business.

In a recent conversation with a group of women entrepreneurs, I noticed something just beneath the surface of what they were sharing. There were questions about how to stay connected in a way that feels natural, how to move a conversation forward when there is alignment, how to ask for referrals, and how to know when a conversation is ready for something more.

The conversations themselves are already strong. There is connection, there is care, and there is a real desire to build relationships in a way that feels aligned.

What begins to shape the outcome is what happens inside the conversation and how that conversation is allowed to continue.

Inside almost every conversation, there are moments where something deeper begins to emerge. A woman starts to share what she is navigating, what she is wanting, or where something in her business or life is no longer working the way she wants it to. She may not fully articulate it, and it may come out in pieces, but there is something there asking to be seen more clearly.

When you are present in the conversation, you begin to hear what is underneath what she is saying. You notice patterns in her words. You can feel where there is a gap between where she is and where she wants to go. At the same time, you can begin to see where your work connects in a meaningful way.

In many cases, this moment passes quickly. The connection remains strong, the conversation feels good, and both people leave with a sense of appreciation. At the same time, something that could have been explored more fully remains unspoken, and some of your gifts may be left on the table.

When you stay with that moment, the conversation begins to deepen. You allow space for her to fully express what she is experiencing. You ask questions that bring more clarity to what she is navigating. You reflect back what you are hearing so she can begin to see it more clearly for herself.

As this happens, the conversation becomes more grounded and more specific. She begins to connect more fully with what she wants, and the trust between you deepens in a very natural way.

From there, the conversation begins to reveal where it wants to go next. You can see a path forward that aligns with what she has shared, and there is a sense that the conversation is ready to move into something more intentional.

When you give voice to what you are seeing, you are continuing the relationship with intention. You are helping her see what is possible and giving shape to something that was just beginning to form. The conversation moves forward in a way that feels connected and aligned with what has already been shared.

There is also an important layer in what happens after the conversation.

There is also a layer in what happens after the conversation. Some conversations are ready for a next step, others are meant to continue unfolding over time, and some connections are simply complete. What creates movement is having a way to stay connected that feels natural for both of you, whether that is continuing the dialogue, sharing something that supports her, or inviting her into spaces where she can experience your work more deeply.

When there is a rhythm to how you stay connected, conversations begin to evolve rather than disappear. Over time, your conversations carry more depth, your relationships become more engaged, and opportunities begin to emerge from the connections you are already building.

This is how conversations begin to turn into clients.

A few pieces of wisdom to take with you

  1. Make a commitment to daily points of connection and find a rhythm that works for you. This is not about doing more. It is about staying engaged in your relationships in a consistent and meaningful way. Over time, this rhythm creates momentum, deepens trust, and allows your conversations to continue unfolding naturally.
  2. Consider how you are staying connected with the people who come into your world. What does it look like to remain in relationship beyond a single conversation? This might be continuing a dialogue, sharing something that supports them, or inviting them into spaces where they can experience your work more deeply. The intention is to allow the relationship to evolve over time.
  3. Pay attention to the conversations that feel alive and worth returning to. Not every connection needs to be carried forward in the same way. This is where your discernment comes in. Notice which relationships feel aligned, which conversations have depth, and where there is a natural desire to continue engaging. Let that guide where you place your attention.

How do I build connections with people without being salesy?

If you’ve ever found yourself asking that question, you are not alone.

It’s something I hear often from women entrepreneurs who care deeply about the way they show up in their work. You want to build real relationships. You want your business to grow through connection, trust, and meaningful conversations. You are thoughtful about how you engage, and you never want someone to feel like they are being approached with an agenda.

Before we go further, let’s acknowledge something important.

Many of us learned sales through models that felt transactional, scripted, and disconnected from relationship. Approaches where the focus was on closing, convincing, or moving someone forward quickly. Those experiences shaped how sales feels, and for many women, created a desire to do business in a different way.

This is not about those old models.

This is about the art of showing up in relationship in sales.

There is a different way of being in these conversations. You are present. You are listening for what is really being said beneath the words. You are paying attention to where something lights up, where there is energy, where there is a deeper desire trying to find its voice.

And as you listen, you begin to see more than what is being spoken.

You can see the gap between where she is and where she wants to go. You can hear the patterns in what she is sharing. You can feel where your work could meet her in a meaningful way.

This is where the moment opens.

For many women, this is also where they pull back. The instinct is to protect the relationship, to keep the conversation comfortable, to allow the other person to arrive at their own conclusions.

What often goes unrecognized is that the relationship is asking for something more in that moment. It is asking for you to bring voice to what you are seeing and intuiting. This is your intuitive leadership, and it is your edge. It is also the very thing that often gets left on the table.

When you name the insight, when you reflect the truth of what you are hearing, when you gently illuminate the path forward, you are deepening the conversation. You are offering something that the other person cannot always see on her own.

This is where sales becomes service.

It lives in your ability to stay present, to trust what you are noticing, and to express it in a way that is grounded and open. You are not stepping outside of the relationship when you do this. You are stepping more fully into it.

An invitation, in this context, is simply the next natural step in a conversation that already holds alignment. It is an opening that allows the other person to move forward with clarity. When this piece is left out, conversations often remain meaningful, but incomplete. There is connection, there is appreciation, and there is a sense that something more was possible.

This is where your intuitive leadership becomes your edge.

The shift is subtle, and it is powerful.

You stay in the conversation just a little longer.
You trust what you are seeing.
You give it language.

And from there, the relationship has somewhere to go.

A few reflections to take into your next sales conversation

Take a moment to think about your most recent sales or discovery conversation.

Not to critique it, but to learn from it and begin to see your own patterns more clearly.

  1. Where did you feel alignment?
As you reflect back, notice where something clicked in the conversation. Where did she share something that connected directly to your work? Where could you clearly see a path forward for her, even if she didn’t fully articulate it herself?
  2. Did you give voice to what you saw?
In that moment of alignment, consider whether you named it. Did you reflect back what you were hearing and share the opportunity you could see, or did you keep that awareness to yourself and allow the conversation to move on?
  3. How deeply did you stay in the conversation?
Think about where you may have moved on too quickly. There are often moments where one more question, one more layer of curiosity, or a little more space could have brought greater clarity for both of you. Staying with the conversation just a bit longer can open something meaningful.
  4. Did you create a clear next step?
At the close of the conversation, was there a natural continuation? This might have been an invitation to explore working together, a follow-up conversation, or a simple agreement to stay connected in a more intentional way. Notice whether the relationship was given direction or left open-ended.
  5. Where can you lead with more presence moving forward?
As you step into your next conversation, bring your attention to how you are showing up. Stay present with what is being shared. Reflect back what you are hearing so she feels fully seen and understood. When alignment is there, allow yourself to name it and offer a next step that feels grounded and open.

There is always room to enhance how we show up in our sales conversations.

I’ve been doing this work for 17 years, and I’ve invested in learning from some very good sales coaches along the way. And still, when I’m not paying attention, I can move too quickly past a moment that could have opened into something more.

That awareness has become part of my practice.

Taking time to reflect on my conversations allows me to see where I was fully present and where I could have stayed a little longer, listened a little deeper, or brought more voice to what I was seeing. This is where the art lives, in that ongoing refinement, and it is what allows me to show up with greater presence and intuitive leadership for my community and for the women I am here to serve.

There is a natural rhythm to these conversations when you stay with them fully. They begin with connection, deepen through understanding, and open into possibility. When you trust yourself to guide that rhythm, your conversations begin to carry more clarity and direction.

You are already building meaningful relationships in your business. This is about allowing those relationships to move forward with intention and to open into the work you are here to do.

How’s your pipeline feeling right now?

Most women entrepreneurs I know aren’t consistently nurturing a sales pipeline—especially not one filled with genuinely aligned, ready-to-work-with-you people. They might be showing up online, doing all the things… but not pausing to ask: Who’s actually raising their hand? Where are the real conversations happening? What relationships are ready to be nurtured into aligned opportunities?

When this part gets overlooked, there’s a real cost. Potential clients drift away. Warm leads go cold. And the aligned opportunities sitting right in front of you quietly disappear—taking dollars off the table before you even notice they were there.

And even more often, I see this: people are coming into your world… but you’re not continuing the relationship. Someone connects with you on LinkedIn, and the thread ends there. Someone sees you speak and sends a warm note, but never hears from you again. You hosted a workshop or event a few months ago—what if one of those attendees would love to hear about what you’re offering now?

These missed moments aren’t just lost opportunities—they’re signals that your marketing ecosystem isn’t fully doing its job. When we let warm leads go cold, when we forget to follow up or re-engage, we’re unintentionally creating gaps in the journey from visibility to connection to client.

This is exactly what the Know LOVE and Trust ecosystem is designed to solve.

It turns fleeting attention into meaningful relationships. It transforms one-time interactions into ongoing dialogue. It’s not about pitching—it’s about nurturing a community of people who feel seen, supported, and invited into your world with care.

Let’s bring some love into your pipeline.

Think of your pipeline as a living, breathing reflection of your visibility and presence. It’s not a static list—it’s a flow of energy, a web of relationships that carry your work into the world. It deserves more than a quarterly glance or last-minute scramble during a launch. It deserves attention, intention, and heart.

So how do we build a pipeline with more flow and less force?

  1. Start with Visibility.

If your pipeline feels empty, look first at your visibility. Not just how often you’re posting—but how clearly you’re showing up. Do people know what you do? Who you help? What you’re inviting them into? A single bold post, a podcast interview, or an honest share in your newsletter can spark real momentum. 2. Are You Actively Extending Invitations?

Even if you’re being visible, I see so many entrepreneurs forgetting to extend a clear, soulful invitation to work with them. Not a pushy pitch—just a warm, confident invitation. This is how people move from inspired to engaged. 3. Track Active Conversations.

This doesn’t have to be complicated. Open a spreadsheet or grab a notebook. Write down every current or recent conversation with someone who’s shown interest in your work. Past clients circling back. Someone who asked a thoughtful question at your last event. A referral who’s curious but not ready yet. These are your seeds.
Then take it one step further: assign a value to each of those leads. If that person became a client, what would that mean for your business? What program or service might they be a fit for? Let that possibility spark your desire to stay in touch—not from pressure, but from potential. 4. Follow Up with Love.
Pipeline-building isn’t pushing—it’s presence. Send a voice note to someone you’ve been thinking about. Share a resource that might help them. Invite them into a conversation. These touchpoints build trust and keep the energy warm. They say: I see you. I remember you. I care. 5. Give as Much as You Ask.
Want referrals? Give one. Spotlight someone else’s brilliance. Introduce two people who need to know each other. This creates a beautiful ripple of generosity—and it keeps you top of mind in the most genuine way. 6. Be Sure to Ask for Referrals.
If you love working with someone, chances are they know someone else who would benefit from your magic. Let your network know what kinds of clients you’re looking for—and make it easy for them to refer you. Do you offer a referral bonus? If not, consider a simple thank-you gift or incentive to make the exchange feel even more joyful. 7. Let Your Pipeline Reflect Your Future Vision.

Don’t just fill your pipeline with “anyone who’s interested.” Fill it with soul-aligned leads who light you up. The ones who are ready for your magic. This is an act of discernment—and of self-trust.

Your business is not a funnel. It’s a garden. And the love you give it today? It becomes the clients, revenue, and impact you’ll celebrate next season.

Start small. Five touchpoints this week. Five moments of connection, curiosity, or clarity.

That’s how momentum is built—with presence, with heart, and with joy.

Future You is already feeling the shift.

When I think about the growing up of my company – there are several elements that have contributed to this evolution. I’ve time-tested these in my own business and my client’s businesses. My desire is to give you some guide rails that you can apply to your business. So often it’s minute shifts in the good work we’re already doing that can make all the difference… sometimes it’s even doing less of one thing so that you can make more impactful choices with your time.

Today, I will share with you mindful strategies that give my business a rock-solid foundation.

  • The Declaration of a Strong Vision and Mission

I’m on a mission To raise up the voices, visibility and businesses of one million women entrepreneurs around the world for impact. My vision is a ripple effect of women’s wisdom changing the world, one soul business at a time because I believe that women’s wisdom is the medicine our earth needs.

So what is your mission and your vision? What are your values? I’d love to hear from you on this question because the ripple effect that we’re doing together is powerful. What’s the impact that you want to create? And vision not only stands for the ripple effect on our communities, for the individuals we serve, for the world but also for our own lives.

  • A SMART Business Model

Simplicity

This means simplicity in how you run your business. Choose a set or products that are simple, and do not have too many products. The simplicity of marketing is another side of it, choose the kind of marketing that you want and be good at doing that kind of marketing. When we think about how we market our business, we’re always hearing somebody coming at us with the fastest way to grow your business, you have to do it this way and you have to follow this formula. And I’d say no to all of that. It’s like really finding your lane and doing your lane well.

Market

Get to know your market, get into your customer’s journey, and know exactly what it is that brings them into your life when they come to you, where they’re at, and what’s the stories they’re in at that moment. Speak your client’s love language and help them be able to see where they’re going to go in order to build a connection with your soul client.

Ascending Premium Offer

Build the right business model to set yourself up for success, do the math, and know what your time is worth. Have the type of business model where you know your customer journey, the problems you’re helping them solve, and how you’re helping them overcome that. Help them look to the future, to what they are really desiring. And in order for them to get there, you have this amazing package that helps them get there.

Having an ascending premium-priced offer means that the first product that they come in to work with you on may not be that premium-priced offer but it’s the it’s the first step to that journey that you take your clients on and then the next offer is that second step so you have the next logical place for them to land to do more work with you because they have already started to build that know love and trust factor with you.

Repeatable

Have tools and assets to bring people into your business that you can re-leverage. For example, I have my Ignite Conference that I have done every single year and this will be my ninth year of doing it. It brings people into my community and brings people into my business. And it’s also a beautiful way that I can just refine, I can get better at what I’m doing. If you have good clarity on what you stand for in your messaging, you can repurpose your content in different ways.

Time Prosperity

When I think about time prosperity, this is not only a white space on our calendar, I strongly believe we have to have plenty of white space on our calendar so that we can do our biggest thinking, we can do our CEO work. But the other side of that is the energetics of time prosperity. And energetics of time prosperity is how you move between meetings, it’s how you are ending your day and taking a pause before you move into the activities of the evening. Pause, slow down. If we’re always rushing, we are not in time prosperity no matter how much white space is on your calendar. It’s the energetics of time prosperity that really changes how we can serve.

  • Ownership of your Leadership of Thought

Find clarity in what it is that you want your voice to stand for. My mission and vision really helped to define this and even more so a deeper connection to my customer’s journey to me. Start to make space to develop our own leadership of thought. That leadership of thought, what it is that we stand for, what messages need to be heard in the world, and the connection to our soul clients waiting to find us. I had to learn that you can’t outsource your leadership of thought. This is something that has to come from within. Are you still following the marketing formulas and spitting out messages that sound just like everyone else? True leadership requires you to go inside and develop your own thoughts. Give yourself some soulful space to hear what messages want to flow from you, and you may be surprised at what shows up.

  • Igniting the Fire

Once you are aligned with your vision, you’ve set up your SMART business strategies in place so that you’ve got a solid business model, and you’ve brought your leadership of thought to life, it’s time to add some fire, my friends. This is the mixture of inner work, self-care, and nurturing of our soul, and combining that with outer visibility. That means showing up and being seen in all of our brightest light. There’s no hiding in our inner fire. This goes way beyond merely having confidence. The true transformation comes when we embody this fire and share our voice. This is the alchemy moment.

And this is what we do at Extraordinary Women Prosper, my friends. You will find clarity in the vision of your business, you will learn SMART Business Models that raise up your time prosperity and wealth prosperity, you will find clarity in your leadership of thought and soul client messaging and you will ignite the fire of you.

Join us on May 24th. Get all the details here. It’s time to raise up your voice, your vision and your visibility, and do it in a way that transforms how you and our world do business. We’re being called my friend!

It’s been 15 years since I left behind my former VP of Marketing job. As a businesswoman, what made us successful in the corporate world isn’t what makes us successful as entrepreneurs, especially in this day and age. Times have changed. We are being called and have been called to lead a new paradigm of business. I see women entrepreneurs leading the way. Not only are we bringing new ways of doing business, but we are also integrating our wisdom, our intuition, our souls. We are prioritizing self-care and we are making ways of impact on the communities that we serve. If you are being called to grow your business this way, I invite you to join me on May 24 for Extraordinary Women Prosper, a one-day online business retreat. Prosper will help you elevate your vision for your business, your community and your life.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to our guest, Lynn Whitbeck, the queen of sales.
