Hi ladies! Welcome to “This is the Good Part,” a podcast where we have real talk about how to have confidence and influence as women of all ages in our lives, homes, and relationships. It’s not always easy and we can feel unqualified, but Jesus just calls us to choose “the good part” which is sitting at His feet and learning His ways.
Our goal is to create a space for you to come and gain wisdom through learning from others and healing along the way. We'll discuss different books and prompt you to go deeper and find the favor you have been searching for. We know, the world says be who YOU are, but Jesus says, be who I am. We can't do that alone, so join us as we shape our hearts into women of character.
Pastor Becky Alcantar and Megan talk about grief, isolation, and hopeless and what the remedies are to the epidemic of loneliness.

When we know the names of God, and who He is in different circumstances, it bolsters our understanding of Him and so leads to Fear of the Lord. Fear of the Lord is learned, and comes with time being spent with him. Fear of the Lord is what will bring us into alignment with His will, and lead us into a place of authority that takes dominion of territory given to us.

At some point, we've all had something said over us, about us or to us. Things like, you're the responsible one, the pretty one, the joker, the black sheep, the forgetful one, the failure. And we carry those labels with us. The problem is, when we wear those labels without knowing it, we never seek the true identity that God has give us. God has give us a spirit of more - He has called us good, chosen, beloved, daughters! We are His heirs and yet sometimes that just doesn't mean anything until we start pursuing relationship and daughtership in His family.

We can get lost in the details when it comes to works and worship. So how can we balance it? Martha was teachable and humble enough to listen when Jesus says she needs to realign her works with worship.
Mary on the other hand realized how to love Jesus with reckless abandon, to love him with extravagant love that is selfless and beautiful. On this episode we discuss how to be teachable, how the Holy Spirit speaks to us, what it has costed us to follow Jesus, how to love Jesus extravagantly and how to balance it all, from the book "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World."

Striving is our way of controlling God. It's saying, "If I can be better, DO better, then I'll earn something from you!" But that's really not the case. Jesus said we are to remain in Him, and when we do, we will bear much fruit.
It's not our effort or sweat that causes us to be fruitful but rather His ability to love and care for us. And when you aren't sure why you're trying so hard, it's time for a heart check. Check your motives and intentions - who are you doing this for? Because God knows where you are, He can find you!
