On this episode of Strike Up The Band, host Mike Miller interviews Christopher Ward. Christopher is the music director of the NABBA champion Five Lakes Silver Band. They won that title at the 2023 NABBA championship in Huntsville, AL. Christopher talks about his background in brass banding and how the Five Lakes band went from it's founding in 2006 to becoming NABBA champions.

On this episode of Strike Up The Band, host Mike Miller speaks with Jason Posnock. Jason is the Vice President & Chief Artistic Officer at the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. We discussed the histor of BMC, the application process for students, and the upcoming concert season, among other things.
Jason is a former member of the Pittsburgh Symphony and is Concertmaster of the Asheville Symphony in addition to his work at BMC.

Rodney Marsalis is the leader of The Rodney Marsalis Phlidephia Big Brass, in addition to being a highly in-demand soloist and prinicpal trumpet of the Chamber Orchestra of Philidephia. He also happens to be a member of the world-famous Marsalis family of musicians.

On this episode of Strike Up The Band, host Mike Miller intereviews trombonist Mark Mullins. Mark is a New Orleans based jazz, rock and funk trombonist who co-founded the band Bonerama. He has also toured and recorded with Harry Connick Jr. and the Last Waltz show.
Formed in 1998, Bonerama is the brainchild of trombone players Mark Mullins and Craig Klein (who from 1990-2006, were also members of Harry Connick Jr.’s big band). Currently comprised of Mullins (trombone, electric trombone and lead vocals), Klein (trombone and lead vocals), Greg Hicks (trombone and vocals), Bert Cotton (lead guitar), Matt Perrine (sousaphone and electric bass) and Walt Lundy (drums), Bonerama is one of the funkiest and most unique bands to ever come out of New Orleans.

Etienne is from the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago and his music is heavily influenced by the Creole culture of that region. He is a graduate of Florida State and the Julliard School and currently teaches at the University of Miami after teaching for 12 years at Michigan State.
As a band leader, Etienne has released 7 CDs and he has appeared as a side man on many others.
