At the beginning of Covid, I wanted to do something positive and started live broadcasts about me, my goats and stories.it became really popular and I also started "Yarn from the Barn" where id have a longer chat and tell a longer story. Yarn in the barn has been going for two years now and I'm delighted to move it on to "podcast land"Seán O'Laoghaire (Seán an Seanchai) will chat about, dicier and tell stories from his extensive canon of work.sometimes, he will have a guest on, chatting about their relationship with story.
Welcome to the first episode of 2023!
My guest is Michael Fortune, a great man from Wexford, Michael has a huge catalogue of people chatting about folklore, their lived experience and life in Ireland.
He is such a busy, it was so great to get him on.
I met Michael, while attending an online course about collecting folklore and using modern methods. It was a great experience and had a wonderful group of people.
You can hear the rain, walloping off the roof of Number 7 and every so often Grámhar and Fila playing, but its all good!
Two great friends, who I've known for a very long time called to visit today and we had a little chat about and our own stories.
During the chat , Gina mentions the Poem "the old woman of the roads" by Padraic Colum.
I had it recorded, so , it seemed a perfect spot to put it in, accompanied by some beautiful music, by Marion Currant, playing "Amhran na Leabhar" which has it own story...
I have a great chat with First cousin Jimmy Daly , who is a great wealth of knowledge story and himself.
Growing up in Cork, he spent his summer holidays, down here in Kerry, during the 60's and 70's
It's so lovely to hear about , where I grew up, before I was born and born has a great way laying a beautiful vista of memory.
He also plays a beautiful piece of music for the podcast, Mo Ghile Mear (My galant lad)

It was so lovely to have Bernard as my First guest.
We chatted about stories from childhood, school days and the presence of stories, in his own great work.
Coming from the same area, it was great to reminisce about the great Portmagee and bring it to life, in a very general manner, for others to enjoy.
We touched on so many subjects and mentioned so many people, its hard to put a "contents"

A good night was had chatting about the week that was, The Waltons and a story about a trickster called Thomas.
We had a nice and I found out a lot about the Waltons Television series.
I also told a story, Collected b y Oscar Wilde's Mother, who went under the Penname "Sparanza"
