In this solo episode... I was inspired to tell this story because some of us may have questions about whether Allah truly answers our duas, particularly those we have been making for a long time. I hope that by sharing my story, you will have high hopes in Allah and be motivated to continue making dua to Allah no matter what, and you will become a person who lives their life by dua. Assalamualaikum! Welcome back to another episode here in "Heartful Talks with Julie" In this episode, I'm going to share about the lessons that I've learned from reading the book "Reflecting on the Names of Allah" by Jinan Yousef. I've selected the names of Allah, Al-Rahman (The Most Merciful), Al-Rahim (The Most Compassionate), Al-Ra'uf (The Most Kind or The All-Pitying).

How I want live my life onwards is to remember Allah in His attributes Al-Rahman, Al-Rahim, Al-Ra'uf. This makes me feel more humble, to the point where I wanted to drop down and make sujood longer in my salah or prayers, and it also made me smile wider in gratitude knowing that Allah SWT is the Most Kind to me and He sent me guidance, inviting me to Islam. I'm back after an unexpectedly long break (nearly 2 months) from posting new episodes! Alhamdulillah! This episode includes excerpts from my March 2022 weekly Gratitude Reflections as well as a few reflections from my recent vacation trip to the Philippines.

This was something I kept replaying in my head, urging me to get back on track. Because of so many recent events, it's been difficult to revise my routines and weekly plans. Don't worry—all of the changes that occurred were for the better, Alhamdulillah! It's also a wake-up call for me to step up my game and become more disciplined with my time, energy, and effort to ensure I'm completing important tasks rather than scrolling endlessly on social media.

How do you get out of a funk and get back to work?

Welcome back! Here's another short episode that I would like share about how my perspective changed about 'random acts of kindness'.

A few years ago, I participated in this 30-days happiness challenge and one of my favorite one was Day 6 challenge which is “Perform five acts of kindness and see how you feel” and I realized that even doing kindness can become "mindless" because your heart is not really into doing it... you're just doing it out of a dare or perhaps you want to feel good about yourself.

This experience has taught me to go above & beyond whenever I intend to do something good. This also applies in acts of worship! Subhan Allah. If I have the strength & the resources to do extra charity, or another day of fasting, or another set of prayers, why not do it? :)

What I also realized from this experience is that kind and inspiring words are very rare to come by nowadays. Most of us are super busy with our own stuff, with our own things, and with our own issues that we never get the chance to say "Hi friend, how are you? You know I'm here for you, alright?" I think that this will be a good habit to develop & implement everyday so InshaAllah I will continue to say kind words to other people especially when they least expected it.

Helloo! In this episode #12, I'm just going to share a short but sweet reminder as a bonus part for my annual reset challenge - making "dua" to Allah SWT.

I've learned about the importance of making dua & asking help from Allah SWT in 2021 when I joined Visionaire program under Sh. Muhammad Alshareef, may Allah SWT have mercy on his soul, and I'm so grateful until today that I was able to joined that class. Not only did I improved or level up on how I ask help from Allah SWT, I've also met amazing sisters in the group and eventually became friends with. I think that this was where most of my friendships had started ~ meeting a new friend in a class. Alhamdullilah.

If you've been following my annual reset challenge and has already completed all the weekly prompts, and you have figured out your next steps, next actions or habits that you want to implement this year 2023, please don't forget to make dua to Allah SWT using His beautiful names to allow you to be focused, to allow you to be consistent with your habits, and most importantly to guide you to success.

This is the last installment for the 4-part series of annual reset challenge! Alhamdullilah! if you have stuck with me up until this point, I just want to say Thank you so much! for doing this together with me.

In this week's challenge, I'm going to share how to prepare our minds and equip ourself with something that we can use to overcome a difficult situation. It's all about reflecting the "negative self-talk" that you have when setbacks happen & how to "reframe" these into positive thoughts to better serve you and help you continue working on your goals.

Few scenarios that you can think about are: when you are facing a failure, a disappointment, when challenges or hardships strikes, when facing a conflict or feeling left out, when you made a mistake, when someone confronted you or when you were criticized... what are the negative self-talk surrounding or keep replaying in your head when these tough moments happen?

Other Questions to ask yourself:
- "Why do I have this negative thought about myself? Where is it coming from?" (understanding what's going on without judgement)
- "Is there another way to look at this situation?" (Reframing)
- "What would I say to a friend who had this problem?" (Reframing)
- "What would this (i.e. reframed mindset) look like for me?" (final question to solidify this reframed mindset by imagining how it would apply in real-life situation)

Hello! Welcome to Part 3 of Annual reset challenge! Yahoo! We're getting closer to the end of the new year, are you excited to finish this challenge with me?
Now, in this episode #10, I'm going to share the next step for this Annual Reset challenge which is to set up systems instead of goals. Basically you just think on what system or habit that you want to implement in order for you to achieve the intentions that you set for Year2023. You might be expecting that the next part is start writing down SMART goals, right? Well, we're not gonna do that here. I'll explain more about this in the episode so tune in :)

Narrated by `Aisha (RA):

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little."

Welcome to the Part 2 from the 4-part series of Annual Reset Challenge. From the previous episode #8, I have challenged you to write 22 amazing things that happened in your life this year 2022. How was the experience so far? Are you ready for the next challenge? Let's go!

This challenge is called "Life Audit". Basically, it's an evaluation process to determine the current state in different areas in life on the basis of your OWN definition of satisfaction/ happiness/ success. Download the "Wheel of Life" template from this link: http://bit.ly/3W7QKL1

Here's the list of journaling prompts to help you deep-dive on the different areas in your "Wheel of Life" and set your intentions for the coming year.

  • What do I want to continue doing (things that are working well)
  • What do I want to stop doing (things that I can let go that are not serving future me)?
  • What do I want to start doing to achieve my dreams or goals for Y2023 ?
  • What would I like to do more (or less) of in 2023?
  • How would I like to feel (be as detailed as you can)?
  • What would "success" look like for me?
  • Are there any goals that I don't feel aligned anymore?
  • How have my priorities changed since the start of this year? Any realizations?
  • How do I want to evolve in year 2023?
  • What do I want to leave behind in 2022? Consider all the things worth releasing, that you don’t want to bring into the new year 2023.
  • In this new year 2023, I want to be ____________ (list down 3 to 5 words that you want to embody or live by).

I highly recommend that you dedicate 30 mins to 1 hour for this activity so that you can really go deep in your reflections, do a "heartwork" challenge and have a clear visualization on what you want to happen in your life in Y2023 and beyond...

Assalamualaikum! It's time for an "Annual Reset"! Yay!
I'm happy & excited to share this 4-part podcast episode where I take a look back at the 11 months and evaluate on the things that happened, my Big and small wins, the challenges that I faced throughout the year, the lessons that I've learned and then plan for my upcoming year. This "Annual Reset" has become my year-end tradition and this will be my third year in a row doing this, Alhamdullliah!

Taking time to pause & reflect helps me to practice gratitude, recognize my achievements, adjust my plans/ strategies based from the lessons that I've learned ~ what worked, what went well, and what are the things that I need to improve ~ and have clarity on what I want to continue working on or what new goals that I want to set.

In the First Part of the Annual Reset Challenge, I encourage you to take time to write down & reflect on the 22 things that you feel grateful for this year2022!
Bonus part! You can also write down lessons learned for this year. I actually shared 12 lessons in my gratitude newsletter, so if you haven't subscribe yet, please check the link below to subscribe. :)

Hello dear friends! Welcome to another "The Book Shelf" (TBS) episode featuring the book "Light Upon Light - A Reflection on Life, Love & God" by Nur Fadhilah Wahid.

This book contains a lot of stories that talks about challenges in different areas of life and the joys that we can discover in our day-to-day activities -- if only we are just mindful & reflect upon the blessings in our life. This book definitely inspired me to continue with my gratitude newsletters and to be more intentional with every word that I share in my newsletters. Alhamdullilah!

I have also learned to let go of my fears and trust in Allah SWT. I realized this when I read this part in the book:

"When a door of opportunity is opened for us and we choose to flee, we are essentially not giving to that moment what it requires of us. Hence, we deny ourselves of the opportunity to grow. When we resist the potter's hands and repel the hot furnace, we remain but a shapeless lump of clay our entire lives"Don't forget to share this podcast episode to your family and friends. I would really appreciate that. See you on the next episode Insha Allah!

Hello! Welcome back to another episode here in Heartful Talks with Julie! Actually, I had so much fun reminiscing & reflecting on my previous newsletter from the last episode #3 so that's why for today's episode, I'm going to read another old newsletter which I also wrote two years ago Alhamdullilah. This was my journey on finding my purpose & passion in life.

When I became a Muslim & read more verses from the Quran, my life purpose became clear Alhamdullilah! But discovering my passion in life took a while but its actually a FUN journey because I found out more things about myself.

If you need a guide or a safe space to hold meaningful conversations to discover your life purpose & passion, don't be a stranger and send me a DM or email. I would be more than happy to provide that safe space for you as a Life Coach (i.e. HeartWork Coach).

I'm so excited for this episode #4 because I'm going to kick-off with a new series in my podcast today (yayy!). This is called my Book review series from "The Book Shelf (TBS)" where I will share book summary, feedback & reflections from the books that I have finished reading.

Shout out to my friends from "Not Another Book Club" - its a small, silent & humble book club that I created in telegram group.

The goal of this book club is to encourage everyone to start the habit of reading books until eventually it becomes natural for you. This group actually helped me to stay consistent with reading because whenever I start reading a book or when I finished a book, I will update it to my book club and encourage everybody to update their current book reading list. There are no rules here but there's only one simple request - that is to show up once a week, either by posting or sharing what you have read so far. There's no pressure in this club, no competition over who will read the most number of books - its for anyone who loves books, who wants to be consistent in reading, and for those who wants to share their book reviews or reflections in a safe space. Are you interested to join us? Come & join us! Everyone is welcome.. You can click on the link in the description🙂

Assalamualaikum! Hello Friends! My name is Julie, a HeartWork Coach, a diligent student of knowledge, and a grateful servant of Allah SWT.

In this episode, I would like to share my personal experience on how I overcome the "fear of missing out" a.k.a FOMO and transition into  "joy of missing out" a.k.a JOMO.

Sometimes, we become so busy with our work or managing our businesses, attending meetings, going outside & filling our hearts with external validations and temporary happiness that we forget to remember the Creator of All, Allah Subhanu wa ta'ala, The Most Glorified, the Most High. One day, you might be surprised that you find yourself suddenly alone, or quarantined due to sickness, or feeling left out from the group, but its only because Allah SWT offers us this opportunity to remember Him more when we are away from all the distractions in life.

What do you when you are alone? Do you worry, stress or fear that you're missing out a lot of fun?

How often do you remember Allah SWT within the day? How do show that you are grateful for all His blessings that He has given to you? think about that...
